01:22Japan in February, Mayor Nestor Archibald eyes waste to energy or WTE solution.
01:29Then earlier this month, Cebu City launched its solid waste management emergency initiatives at the ACCO station in SRP. But
01:38there was no mention of a long-term solution.
01:40And last week, the Department of Energy and Natural Resources in Central Visayas has directed Cebu City government to stop
01:47using a portion of SRP as a waste transfer and storage area.
01:53Now, the city is pushing to reopen the sanitary landfill, which is a dump site in Binalio.
02:00Why does garbage problem persist even when everyone agrees it is a problem?
02:07This afternoon, we look deeper and think better.
02:11Joining us today is Councillor Joel Garganera, City Council's Chairman of the Committee on Environment.
02:17Councillor Joel, welcome back to Beyond the Headlines.
