00:00I hate interleague play so much because it's destroyed the game of baseball.
00:06And here's why.
00:07From 1998, and you tell me if you agree or disagree.
00:10You tell me if I'm whacked on this.
00:121998, everyone saw Sosa McGuire, and then all the owners wanted to make sure those guys were in American League
00:18ballparks as well so they could, like, you know, share the wealth of this.
00:23To me, though, the all-star game, dude, that used to be a time where you and I, when we
00:27grew up, I never saw Pete Rose.
00:29And those guys on the same field during the regular season with Reggie and those guys, it was mythical that
00:36made the all-star game.
00:37It was, and maybe, again, I'm pie in the sky here, I'm rainbows and butterflies here, but, dude, I used
00:43to see Pete Rose and Johnny Bench.
00:45There they are in the all-star game.
00:46And the only other time you would ever see that again would be in a World Series.
00:50Is that what's really hurt the all-star game?
00:53Because I'm watching the World Cup now.
00:55Well, man, I'd love to have that kind of atmosphere where you have all that excitement on seeing the superstars.
01:01You think we'll ever get to something where we see the world versus the American players, something like that, that
01:08we would get for the all-star game?
01:11No.
01:12I don't think we'll ever see that because that would probably have to take place in November, and the players
01:16are beaten down by then.
01:17And, listen, the WBC, which I do enjoy, it's not perfect.
01:20It was great.
01:21It's not, but I do enjoy it.
01:22But even then, I mean, Scoogle only pitched five innings.
01:25Well, one start, actually one start, three innings, right?
01:27Then he wanted to go back to his team.
01:29Some players, Max Fried didn't want to play.
01:31And I understand that.
01:32They're getting paid a gazillion dollars by their home team.
01:34They don't want to suffer the injury or change their warm-up routine.
01:37They're getting ready for the season routine.
01:39I understand that.
01:40And, listen, I'm the first person to tell you there is something magical about the all-star games in the
01:4570s and 80s.
01:47When they had all the uniforms, you know, you'd see Pete Rose in his uniform, Mike Schmidt, you know, Dave
01:52Parker.
01:53You go on and on and on here.
01:54There's something very magical about that when they were all wearing their – not the all-star uniforms they wear
01:58today, which I cannot stand, but they're wearing their team uniforms.
02:01All right, that was great.
02:02Love that.
02:03Love that, Dan.
02:04But the players don't care about the games anymore.
02:06All right?
02:07They're just there.
02:08Half of them are going to say, no, I want the four-day break.
02:10I don't even want to go.
02:10And let's face it, the all-star game is going to be determined not by the best players because they're
02:15gone.
02:15They're out at the three innings.
02:17Oh, Shohei Ohtani is not going to be around in the ninth inning.
02:20You know, Aaron Judge, he's not going to be around in the ninth inning.
02:22They're gone.
02:22They're already on a plane.
02:23All right?
02:24They're gone.
02:25So, the all-star game is not what it used to be.
02:26So, I'm not going to tell you I don't care.
02:28I watched the game, but, you know, it was definitely more magical, I guess, before the league play,
02:33before the players were super, super rich, and they didn't care about this,
02:36and before the fact that we can watch all the games, right?
02:40The game's starting in 15 minutes.
02:41I got the package.
02:42I'm going to be watching every baseball game today.
02:43I'm going to see all those guys.
02:45I don't need to wait for the all-star game.
02:46I don't need to wait for the all-star game.
