00:08According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service,
00:10officers responded to reports of an armed man in Faroe Terrace around 6.40 p.m.,
00:16encountered Abram Hackett, who was allegedly being pursued by a group of people while armed with two knives.
00:23Police say officers ordered the suspect to drop the weapons,
00:26but he allegedly advanced towards an officer, injuring the officer's hand and upper arm.
00:31One officer then discharged a single round from his service firearm.
00:35The suspect reportedly fled the scene.
00:38The search was launched, and approximately 50 minutes later,
00:41officers located a man matching the description along a bushy track near the San Juan River.
00:47Police report that the suspect was still armed with a knife and advanced towards officers while making threats.
00:53Officers opened fire, striking the suspect,
00:55Hackett was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex,
00:59where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
01:02The injured officer received medical treatment and remains in stable condition.
