A looming shutdown threat to T&T's multi-million dollar scrap metal industry may have been averted. The T&T Scrap Iron Dealers Association and several players in the sector have hammered out a plan which seeks to curb a devastating wave of copper thefts across the country.

A ban on copper, initially proposed by the dealers, is off the table for now.
