00:00The Giannis thing fascinates me. It fascinates me that there are apparently only two teams involved
00:06for a player of his stature, who obviously, assuming he's healthy, he's not been healthy,
00:11obviously they didn't last year, is the type of guy that could turn franchises around.
00:15But he's also now 30. He's not 25 years old with a 10-year career ahead of him.
00:22Here he has also won a championship. He's also put a lot of money away.
00:26So I'm trying to figure out what's the incentive for Giannis to give you, let's say,
00:32five years, three to five years, of elite basketball.
00:36And what's amazing to me is, and again, maybe there are teams in the West
00:41that privately expressed interest in him.
00:43It seems like ever since the Knicks weren't able to trade from before the trade deadline
00:48and decided to go all in with this current team, and then obviously they win,
00:52they became outsiders on the Giannis deal.
00:55Because remember, for a long time, the only team Giannis wanted to play for was the Knicks.
00:59And obviously, the Knicks win a championship, stops that.
01:02But you have to be at least a little interested in the fact that outside of New York,
01:06it's been a two-city race, Miami and Boston.
01:10Now, Boston's got the best current player available to be traded to Milwaukee.
01:15Yes.
01:15In Jalen Brown, whatever you might think of him.
01:17Yeah, yeah, he is.
01:17He's better than anything the Heat have as a current player.
01:20Absolutely.
01:21The Heat have better draft picks.
01:22Okay, I buy that argument as well.
01:24And they also can more easily involve other teams.
01:28Yes.
01:28And it seems like if it is the Heat, there's going to be a third,
01:31maybe even a fourth team involved.
01:33But I'm sitting back saying to myself, you know,
01:36there were rumors that the Clippers might be interested.
01:38Yeah.
01:39You know, from a standpoint of draft picks, they have a huge draft pick this year.
01:42And not much more than that, right?
01:45But I know the Thunder lost in the Western Conference Finals.
01:49The Thunder, though, have current players that could be traded.
01:54Yeah.
01:54That become irrelevant if Giannis is on that team from a scoring standpoint.
01:58Yep.
01:58And they've got a boatload of future draft picks.
02:03Yep.
02:03That's the team having lost to the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.
02:09And look, I know they've got a great core.
02:11I know they can write that loss off in seven games to the reality that they
02:15were hurt, that a bunch of guys banged up.
02:17They did.
02:17You know, Jalen, their second best offensive player for sure.
02:20Yep, was out.
02:21Was hurt throughout the year.
02:22And obviously, you're in the postseason with the Hemi.
02:24Mm-hmm.
02:24I'm saying to myself, how do they not at least, you know,
02:28quiet as kept, knock on the door and say to Milwaukee,
02:32be realistic, what would you want?
