00:00I've paid my dues time after time. I've done my sentence but committed no crime.
00:12And bad mistakes, yes I've made a few. I've had my share of sand kicked in my face
00:22but I've come through. We are the champions. We are the champions. No time for losers for we are the
00:43champions of the world.
00:47Good morning everybody. Welcome to another edition of The Great Card Show. My main man, loser number one, Tyrone A.
00:55Johnson over there in the corner.
00:57The New York Knickerbockers on Saturday night became NBA champions and set the world on fire.
01:06Good morning Tyrone. How are you today kid?
01:08Good morning. Happy Monday. And I have to say congratulations to all the Knicks fans out there, the millions of
01:15fans.
01:16You guys have been through a lot. You deserve it.
01:19Look how classy you are. And let me tell you something. I didn't expect that but I appreciate it from
01:23you today.
01:24It's kind of how you felt when the Eagles won that first Super Bowl.
01:28After years and years and years of trying and trying.
01:31And it's almost like, I assume you experienced this like I did on Saturday night.
01:36You almost don't know how to react to it.
01:38Outside of the obvious joy in a moment you have that something you never thought was going to happen, happened.
01:44It's almost like a pinch myself moment. Did that really just happen?
01:47It was obviously weird being Saturday night, not last night, for us coming here today.
01:52I was also somewhat divorced from all the energy and action of it.
01:55I watched it out in L.A. as opposed to watching it here in New York.
01:59But just awesome. Awesome.
02:01And the dynasty is now officially underway.
02:04Okay. There's a lot of skeletons that now are getting officially buried.
02:09Number one, the notion that Jim Dolan's a bad owner. Cross that off your list.
02:14Jim Dolan is now the best owner currently in New York City.
02:19And you can't argue that because he just won a championship.
02:22No, in New York, for sure.
02:23He's the greatest owner in New York City today.
02:25Yes.
02:25I'm not saying of all time, today, Jim Dolan is the best owner in New York.
02:30He was at the UFC event last night at the White House, sitting in front row,
02:35rocking the same exact outfit he wore for games 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
02:39blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
02:40Throughout the entire postseason.
02:42And now all the national media folks who did not believe in Jalen Brunson and the Knicks acquired him back
02:50in 2022,
02:51all the national media folks that said steadfastly that the Knicks were not a championship team,
02:57that couldn't win, all the folks in Vegas that set the lines to try to tell you which team has
03:03a better shot of winning,
03:04you can all suck it.
03:06You can all go on your TV shows today and you can pivot now and talk about how great Jalen
03:12is
03:12and what a great team this is and what a great job that Mike Brown did with this team.
03:18And that's all factual, but you've all lost credibility.
03:21And I know today's story is not about what members of the media have to say,
03:25but it's kind of always been a part of the story because nobody gave this team chance.
03:30Nobody gave the franchise a chance and nobody thought that Jalen Brunson was what he turned out to be.
03:36And shame on those of you that didn't see it.
03:38You know, we talk a lot on shows like this about having a championship pedigree, right?
03:43There's a lot of great players, always have been around a lot of great players,
03:47but when it's all said and done, what separates the great players from the all-time greats, right?
03:54And it's championships.
03:55You and I sing here all the time, legacy!
03:58Legacy!
03:59Well, we had two legacies get created.
04:02There's the legacy of Jalen Brunson being a champion at every step of the way as a young kid, AAU,
04:10in high school.
04:11You have state time.
04:11He was Mr. Basketball Illinois, winning two championships with Mikael Bridges.
04:18Hart was a part of one of them at Villanova, and now obviously winning an NBA championship.
04:24That's his legacy.
04:25He's a winner.
04:26He's a champion.
04:28We'll get to where he stands now in the pantheon of current NBA players and all-time players a little
04:33bit later on in the show.
04:34And you're not going to be surprised.
04:36I think where I put him, but we'll see if Tyrone agrees with it or not.
04:39But while he's a winner and he's a champion, the future face of the league is the exact opposite.
04:47Wemby, while a great player and a difference maker defensively in a manner I don't think I've ever seen, is
04:55a loser.
04:56Period.
04:57Stop.
04:57He's a dirty, filthy player.
05:00He has no class whatsoever.
05:03He's the future of the league because of his basketball town.
05:07For sure, I'm not going to diminish what that kid's ultimately going to do.
05:10He'll probably go down when it's all said and done without injury.
05:13As the greatest defensive player the league has ever seen.
05:16Yeah.
05:17And he has a chance to be a dominant offensive force as well.
05:20But he's out of shape.
05:21He was winded in the fourth quarter virtually every game in the finals.
05:25Maybe not so much getting to the finals, but in the finals, he appeared to be winded to me.
05:30He's classless.
05:31He's dirty.
05:32He tried to hurt OG going after his knee, as you remember in game four.
05:37I don't believe that one.
05:38He went after Jalen Brunson physically multiple times, put his foot in the landing area, and Jalen could have broken
05:45his ankle there.
05:46He's a dirty, dirty player.
05:48But more so than that, he lacks currently the clutch gene.
05:54I suppose you can find it.
05:55Shaq did.
05:56But right now, he doesn't have the clutch gene, and he's probably home in France regretting the fact that he's
06:03a loser.
06:04But that's what you are, Wemby.
06:06Right now, great player will be a great player.
06:09But the narrative about you, my friend, you're a dirty loser with no class.
06:15But the story today is not about you.
06:17The story today is about the greatness of Jalen Brunson and this Knick team that did something I still can't
06:24wrap my head around.
06:25They are NBA champions.
