02:51So being back here where Jett is and where Hayden is, Hunter Lawrence has really got an advantage being out

02:57because those guys are going to have to push it on this racetrack because Hayden's pushing it.
03:01Jett looks like he's got around another rotter, George Smith, but they're making their way up.
03:06So does Hayden Deegan.
03:08Similar to what we saw, the opening moto of the season, Lawrence and Deegan working through traffic at the same
03:14time.
03:15I'm not going to say they're working together.
03:17I wouldn't necessarily say that.
03:18And there it is, a quick pass on Smith by Deegan.
03:21So they're fender to fender again and another pass coming for Jett as he works on Plessinger.
03:26Yeah, this is the same scenario, but different results because these guys are moving up compared to what they did
03:33at the first race.
03:34It seemed like they stalled out.
03:35And on the track that's difficult to pass, you can tell the difference of these last four races since that
03:40first one.
03:41How much better these guys are feeling on the racetrack.
03:44Well, Deegan improving.
03:45It is his rookie year in the 450.
03:47And, of course, Jett Lawrence coming back from injury.
03:49So they're getting better.
03:50How much better can they get?
03:52They've got Hunter Lawrence, Webb, Prado, Hampshire ahead of them.
03:59And Prado's still working on Webb, but he lost the back end.
04:03Do you think there's a little motivation from Supercross with these two, you know, with Cooper Webb?
04:08You know, at some point, you know, Cooper was going to be a problem.
04:12Jorge, if he wanted to win this championship, Cooper's too good of a rider not to have to deal with
04:15him all summer.
04:17It's the best ride we've seen out of the three-town champ.
04:19Cooper Webb, you've got to think that has to do with Jorge Prado Bahanda.
04:23Yeah, certainly didn't end on friendly terms at Supercross between these two.
04:28And maybe a little carry over here at motocross.
04:31So as they battle, you see actually Hampshire starting to get in it.
04:35Come forth.
04:38Quietly, RJ's been riding really good all year long.
04:41We've been talking about the three at the top, you know, Hayden, Deegan, and all of them.
04:45But RJ's solid.
04:47He's riding better than more consistent than he does last year on a deeper field.
04:50So good for him.
04:54As for Prado, man, that one mistake didn't quite get that double at the top of the hill off the
04:59start.
04:59But it looked like he was about to grab the lead.
05:01How big a difference did that one piece of track position mean?
05:04About five seconds.
05:05Oh, man.
05:08About five seconds.
05:09That's the difference.
05:10And we've seen, unfortunately, for Jorge, which is one of the things he has to work on,
05:14when he's not out front, it just seems like he can't make his way up through the pack like these
05:20other guys.
05:20And that's what's really costing him.
05:22And he's been stuck this close to Cooper Webb.
05:24Hunter Lawrence is getting away.
05:25And unfortunately for him, I don't know if he's going to be able to close up on him once he's
05:30able to get around Cooper Webb, if he's able to do that.
05:32And now a big battle is coming.
05:34So Hampshire is catching Prado.
05:36Now Jet Lawrence as well.
05:38Prado trying to solve Webb.
05:41And it looks like Jet Lawrence took the measure of Hampshire.
05:44Yeah, Jet goes around the outside.
05:46And if Jorge is not going to, he doesn't watch out.
05:49He's going to want number one.
05:50He's going to get by both these guys as well.
05:54Critical juncture for Prado.
05:55Started the year on the podium.
05:56Thought he was in title contention for sure.
05:58But then bike problems and a bad moto at round two have sent him way back in the standings.
06:04So he needs to mix it up.
06:05The series leader of Lawrence right now.
06:08And just going back to your point, what you said earlier, the difference is that one jump.
06:12Yeah.
06:12He wouldn't think he'd be battling in this position if he was out front.
06:16So very crucial how tough and close all these guys are.
06:22JT.
06:23Well, I'm going to say something.
06:25It's a little unorthodox here.
06:26And James, call me crazy if I am.
06:28But I know Jet Lawrence is in fourth place.
06:31And last weekend in the first moto, he was in first place.
06:33But to me, he looks better this first moto than he did a week ago.
06:38He just looks more comfortable.
06:39And I don't know if he's going to be able to catch on a Lawrence.
06:40He may end up with a second or third in this moto.
06:42But just comfortability-wise and rhythm-wise, he looks like he's able to push more here than he did a
06:48week ago in moto one.
06:49Oh, you're spot on.
06:50And that's what I was talking about earlier in race day live.
06:52I'm like, Jet, I see his body language.
06:54And even earlier in practice, you just see he's riding laps.
06:57He looks smooth.
06:58This is the guy that we saw in Hangtown probably even more aggressive.
07:01So you're 100% right.
07:03If he catches his brother, that's going to be a hard beat because we know how good Hunter Lawrence is.
07:07But Jet Lawrence looks really good right now, a lot better than he did last weekend.
07:13But it's going to be a fight because Cooper Webb certainly is improved as well, running strong in second.

07:19I want to go back to Jet Lawrence there for a second.
07:21Earlier in the week, he was asked if he is capable of kicking it up a notch still within his
07:26racing.
07:26He said, yes, sometimes.
07:28It totally depends on the flow, which is exactly what you guys are talking about.
07:31He said, everything that I do out on that bike goes off of flow.
07:34He said, if I can push it, this depends on the track.
07:37If I don't want to go right over the edge, that's exactly what I am doing.
07:41So he's managing the race as well as his energy out there all based on flow.
07:45And he's really having to do a lot of pushing right now.
07:47Oh, yeah, because Katie is trying to get Prado, who is doing everything to get Webb.
07:52Webb made life very tough on Prado.
07:55Finally, the 26 is by.
07:57Prado in the pink gear there.
07:58And the blue number two of Webb.
08:01Here comes Lawrence to the inside.
08:02Yeah, and watch this.
08:03You'll probably see Cooper Webb all these kind of let jet by.
08:08And that's the difference.
08:09And when you go back to, hey, there's their little carryover.
08:11That's what it is.
08:13Cooper Webb doesn't want to let anybody by.
08:14But he understands that, look, if I'm not battling for the front, if I'm in the championship,
08:18I want those guys to do me as well.
08:20Some people just don't care.
08:22So he didn't make it as easy on Prado as he did Lawrence.
08:25Prado's second splitting.
08:27The Lawrence brothers.
08:28Man, Hunter has a nearly nine-second lead right now.
08:32Yeah, and that's what that's called.
08:33I mean, you saw how close and all three of those guys are battling and being stuck.
08:37Jet Lawrence, that separates those guys.
08:40And now Hunter Lawrence has nine seconds over him.
08:42So at this point, you would think, Jet, unless all of a sudden Hunter starts coming back,
08:46which is unlikely, his focus is going to be about keeping Haydegan behind him
08:50and just getting on Jorge Prado, trying to finish second in his first moto.
08:56Again, critical juncture for Prado.
08:59I would feel to prove he's still in the mix with these two after two bad rounds,
09:04following the great performance at the opener.
09:08I think this is a big race for Jorge, not only just for, yeah, Hunter Lawrence is out front,
09:13but even Jet Lawrence behind him should keep him inspired because this is the guy you're
09:18going to have to beat.
09:18Obviously, he has the red flag.
09:20So if I'm Jorge, if I can hold this guy off, this is where I'm really being challenged for
09:24the speed and seeing if I'm really here to compete against these guys.
09:28Now, we lost Hemshiter from this battle.
09:30There he is in white.
09:31That's what got him.
09:32Yeah, it just came down, this is after the finish line.
09:35He wanted to lean his bike over, but the bike was hitting those bumps.
09:39The front tire wasn't on the ground.
09:40Easy mistake, but, yeah, RJ, a little costly right there.
09:45You see how easy mistakes are to make up this track.
09:47Prado and Jet both had their issues in the section they just went through.
09:53Oh, Lord, it's all over him now.
09:56Yeah, it seems like Jorge is a little more struggling on this side of the track.
10:00They were actually able to get Hunter Lawrence within seven seconds, but as soon as we do
10:04that, Jet Lawrence scrubs up the inside.
10:06Mori is going to fight him.
10:08Jet Lawrence has that single.
10:09Now, another opportunity.
10:11If I'm Jet, I'm going to charge down this inside or outside, excuse me, have a good run
10:16as he almost goes on the racetrack.
10:18And he should have that line up for the inside right here.
10:20Now, you saw it coming.
10:23Outside turns into inside.
10:25And a pass for a second.
10:26Yep, great move.
10:28Now, key for Jet, get that gap.
10:30Let's see if we can crack it to Brother's lead.
10:32He hasn't gotten any, actually, if anything, Jet's closed up on him.
10:37Yeah, even while battling.
10:38Yeah.
10:42And they've distanced themselves.
10:43Webb and Deegan are next.
10:45There's the leader, Hunter Lawrence.
10:49All by himself.
10:52That's the gap.
10:54Here's Jet.
10:55JT.
10:56I think these next couple laps are so critically important to whether or not Jet is able to
11:02close.
11:02Now, he's going to try.
11:03But Hunter's so smart and he's so observant.
11:06He knows that Jet is now in second.
11:07So both of them are going to push right here.
11:10They're going to test each other's sprint speed to see who has what.
11:13If Jet can make a big mark in that lead, we may end up with a battle.
11:16But if Hunter can withstand that, that lead stays seven, eight seconds.
11:20I don't know how much more Jet will push.
11:22These guys know each other so well.
11:24And these next, I would say, two laps are critical in that narrative.
11:28You know, one thing to speak about, JT, was the relationship with Jet and Hunter that
11:32they have together as brothers.
11:33I did ask Hunter about that.
11:35He said, look, we even watched King Richard with the Williams sisters.
11:37And he said, that one hit home so much to me.
11:40It's very relatable because not many people in this world will ever know what it's like to
11:44be top athletes with their sibling.
11:46I did ask him, how does he manage these small mistakes, especially when he knows that
11:50that Jet is behind him?
11:52He said, to be honest, the front wheel feel has been off these last couple of races.
11:56They made some big changes and they went back to Florida this past week, which really was
12:01beneficial, he said, not only for being on the bike, for training, but just for the soul
12:05to be back at home as well.
12:07It's working right now.
12:09He's got the feel he's looking for, Kitty.
12:12Yeah, but it's his brother starting to close in on him.
12:16But JT, to your point, that's 100% right.
12:18And just going back to what you said earlier about Jet, what I noticed with him this weekend
12:23is that he's really charging down those downhills in those first couple of races.
12:27Yeah, he was charging, but there was a little hesitation.
12:30To me, Jet's getting back, picking up the front wheel, really charging.
12:33And that's coming from being comfortable and believing that his foot is fine.
12:38So, scary fact for everybody else, because he looks good.
12:41He looks racy today.
12:48It's going to be a tell of the stopwatch.
12:50These next couple laps, Hunter versus Jet.
12:53Can he maintain this gap?
12:55So far, so good for the 96.
13:00Yeah, Jet's got a pretty good line.

13:12Prado, also, one thing to note about him is he was also back in routine here this week.
13:17Him going back to Florida, and I think that is something that is game-changing for these guys, right?
13:21They get back into routine, but it's been a big change for him in general.
13:25The tracks, his places, the travel, and just to get back to Bakers
13:28and be able to be settled in is such a win for these guys.
13:33Yeah, we'll see.
13:34Yeah, Jorge, by keeping Jet Lawrence on us, it's keeping Deegan at bay.
13:39About three seconds for the podium between Prado and Deegan.
13:48Yeah, Hayden's riding really good.
13:50He's got his teammate behind him, Cooper Webb.
13:52Now, Cooper Webb wasn't really sure what you were going to get from in this motocross,
13:57but I think with him, any time Cooper's up near to lead, as we're still watching Hayden Deegan right here,
14:03Cooper's going to fight.
14:04Father's Day weekend, a little motivation for the Jorge Prado.
14:07Cooper Webb's always deemed for a top five, and I believe this is the best moto of the year so
14:12far for him.
14:14He's having a lot of fun, actually, at the race.
14:16He doesn't really feel the pressure.
14:17He's enjoying the racing, but he's got another battle on his hands.
14:20Here comes Aaron Plessinger, got back into racing, had a big crash at Tanktown, hurt the ribs, riding all right,
14:28and closing in on Webb.
14:33Big gap back to Hampshire, who should come through.
14:36I think RJ.
14:37Oh, RJ, again?
14:39Lost RJ from the group for another time.
14:42So, yeah, you saw the triumphs go by, and March Banks.
14:45There is RJ Visor pointed at the sky.
14:48Yeah, that's not aerodynamics.
14:50Usually you see that as an issue.
14:52He cannot get that thing to snap off.
14:55It's probably blocking his vision.
14:58Yeah.
15:01Straight for the moment.
15:04Yeah, that's dangerous going down these hills, too.
15:07Not being able to see it.
15:11And he has dropped to 12th place.
15:15It's March Bank 7th, Harrop-Smith-Tondle now, top 10.
15:20Will he go to the mechanics area?
15:22Back to this battle, Webb and Plessinger for fifth.
15:27I've seen these battles over the years.

15:31Just like Cooper Webb is starting to, I wouldn't say race behind him, but,
15:35hey, Deegan's starting to get away, which is allowing Aaron Plessinger to have that wrapping in front of him.
15:40Cooper doesn't.
15:42If he could finish for Aaron, it's on top six, it'd be great for him.

16:21Yeah, and I actually asked the team about that crash in Hangtown.
16:23They said, yeah, he was holding his shoulder a little bit.
16:25He's definitely feeling on the ups there.
16:27But Aaron Plessinger has actually put on 10 pounds from last year at Millville when he tried to compete there.
16:34Just didn't make it work.
16:35The rest of the season was out.
16:36He's been working on his conditioning a lot.
16:38But, Stu, even just having that extra weight, can you help us work through why that's so important, especially on
16:44bikes like these?
16:45Yeah, I mean, Aaron's a taller rotter, so you think he has leverage.
16:49But I think, really, what it comes down to is having that extra weight.
16:52It helps on the motorcycle, but what it helps is during the week, your body will be able to recover.
16:57I think the biggest thing for these guys is not being in shape, but it's being able to recover.
17:02A little bit of weight, have some room to work with.
17:05If you get sick, your body's not depleted.
17:07I think that's probably what Aaron's more feeling, and especially off the last year, being so sick, he knew he
17:12needed to have something towards his long season.
17:14And it's a long season for these guys.
17:18He's digging deep right now, James, with Webb in front of him.
17:20Webb has not.
17:21It's a surprise to me, had a top five 450 pro motocross in three years, and it was at high
17:27point three years ago where he got it.
17:30And he's riding well right now, feeling the vibes, he said, and pretty funny.
17:35So he said they got three guys on the team that said we'll pay $100 apiece every time we get
17:40a hole shot.
17:41That's $300.
17:41He's got two already this year.
17:43He's probably going to argue his case.
17:44Hey, I didn't hole shot, but I have a lead a couple turns in.
17:48He'll take the motivation anyway.
17:50He can get it.
17:51Yeah.
17:51I mean, he just had another kid.

18:00But that's an insane stat when you think about how good Cooper Webb is.

18:11No doubt about that.
18:13So fighting hard.
18:14Look at this.
18:16The gap is bigger now than it was when Jet Lawrence got to second.
18:20It's 9.4 seconds to the good for Hunter Lawrence.
18:27Oh, we got Hutch filling in there as the mechanic today.
18:31Grant Hutcherson for Hunter.
18:34And it's working well.
18:35This combination.
18:37So back to JT's point that he made earlier there, James.
18:40Is that all Hunter and Jet needed to see?
18:44Those couple laps where Jet was not able to close in?
18:46Oh, absolutely.
18:47I mean, and that's why I go back to these things.
18:50There's moments in races.
18:51And those two laps, as JT mentioned, made this race.
18:55It was whether Hunter was going to have to deal with Jet or not.
19:00And because he put it down, Jet decided, Jorge Prada's gaffing him.
19:04He's got a distance on him.
19:06I'll fight him for the next moto.
19:07Two laps.
19:08That's all that changes the whole dynamic of this race.
19:10To Katie.
19:12Grant Hutchinson there is typically the crew chief there on Honda,
19:15wearing multiple hats.
19:16But we just want to send our best wishes to Cameron Camara.
19:19Interesting, at Thunder Valley, he was working with Hunter on the bike
19:22before that second moto when his back went out.
19:25So best wishes to him as he hopefully is going to be in recovery soon.
19:28Hunter said, hey, look, I just picked up the wipe.
19:31I started wiping my own starter.
19:33I just took lead until they got Hutch in there.
19:35And, of course, as you said,
19:36the combination is working out well for Hunter Lawrence here today.

19:43who's the longtime mechanic for Hunter.
19:46It just shows you.
19:47I mean, everybody carries the weight of these riders on their back.
19:52Team, everybody's invested.
19:54I don't know if Hutch is going to be able to claim that he was the difference maker,
19:57but something is working right for the 96.
20:00What a ride for Hunter Lawrence and really at the right time
20:04because Jet was starting to build a little bit of a win streak.
20:06We've seen that many times.
20:09Hunter's saying, not this time.
20:10Yeah, Hunter's riding really good.
20:12And now I think that gap is growing
20:14because now Hunter can ride this racetrack,
20:16as JT said earlier.
20:18Some tracks fit certain riders,
20:19and it fits his brother, Jet Lawrence,
20:21and Hunter being very patient.
20:23At some point, Jet was going to have to take that risk
20:26to try to catch Hunter Lawrence.
20:28Hunter responded.
20:28Now he can just ride this out.
20:30And what he's doing at this moment,
20:31keeping that gap and then recovering.
20:33So this first moto,
20:35yeah, they'll be tired,
20:36but him and Jet will be on the same level.
20:38He's resting.
20:41Would be able to cut the points gap
20:43from eight to five if he holds on.
20:45There's still 10 minutes to go,
20:47but the lead keeps growing.
20:52JT.
20:53Well, James, watching Hunter,
20:55it's remarkable because he's using
20:57a lot of unorthodox lines.
20:59He's actually using lines that not many other riders
21:01are using, going outside a lot.
21:03And look at his last lap time.
21:06He was two and a half seconds plus
21:08better than anybody else on the racetrack,
21:10not even really going where you'd expect him to go.
21:13That shows you the power of a track
21:15that works with what you do well.
21:17This is Hunter Lawrence in prime form right here.
21:19Yeah, absolutely, JT.
21:21And also what it shows,
21:22we saw Cole Davies do the same thing
21:24on how slowing down and using these lines
21:26that nobody else is going.
21:27You can only do that if you're dictating the race.
21:30You're not being chased.
21:32You're leading the race.
21:33So he has the gap.
21:34Everybody has to react to him.
21:36And it's hard for guys in second place
21:38or anybody chasing Hunter Lawrence to do that
21:40because they have to hit the fastest line,
21:42which is the normal line.
21:44Hunter's getting a chance to explore,
21:46and he's putting it down to these boys right now.
21:51And getting deep into lap traffic
21:55is Hunter.
21:57But he's got plenty of room to work with.
21:59Yeah, he's got plenty of room to work with,
22:01but at the same time,
22:02this racetrack has come up and bites you really quick.
22:05Those shiny spots.
22:06Although he's probably somewhat relaxing,
22:08trying to hit his marks,
22:09he knows how quickly he hit one of those shiny spots.
22:12He'll be on the ground before you know it.
22:13That's high point.
22:16Checking in with Deegan,
22:17you can see Prado.
22:18This Deegan in blue.
22:20And then Prado is the next rider up ahead
22:22on the orange with the white and pink gear.
22:27It's in about this,
22:29two to three seconds between them for a while now.
22:31Now a lap rider splitting them.
22:33Here's Prado.
22:34Yeah, actually,
22:35Hayden got within one second of Jorge.
22:37Jorge responded back.
22:39So I don't know if Hayden made a mistake
22:40or Jorge's picked up the pace,
22:42but good response by Jorge
22:44not to let everything slip away.
22:46Because you know,
22:46once Hunter's in front of him,
22:48Jet,
22:48it's hard for a two-time world champion
22:50to stay focused,
22:51but he's able to do that in responding.
22:55Other battle here.
22:56So we mentioned Tondal,
22:58the FMF Privateer Power Award winner
23:00at the beginning of the moto.
23:01There he is on that green Kawasaki.
23:03Now Ferrandez has caught him.
23:05Tondal trying to get a top 10,
23:08but Ferrandez looking to rip that away.
23:10This is 10th and 11th.
23:11There's Ferrandez, some 14th.
23:14Yeah,
23:14Dillon's the only other guy in this field
23:16that's won at this racetrack
23:17outside of Jet Lawrence.
23:19So Dillon's had some great experience
23:21and he's had the experience
23:22winning this championship.
23:24So you would think he continues.
23:26He might be able to work his way around him
23:27because he's done it before.
23:32We've got the Frenchman
23:33and our Norwegian here
23:36and Ferrandez is the solo man
23:38for Ducati this weekend.
