00:00But it feels like this, probably last week, was dominated by one man and one man only.
00:06Right.
00:06You know, the Brendan Sorsby news cycle took yet another turn this week, obviously, on Monday, when Texas Tech and
00:13Brendan Sorsby agreed to part ways.
00:16I think common sense prevailed.
00:17And, you know, from this jump, I think Texas Tech just miscalculated the reaction from everybody else.
00:28Like, what's the big deal?
00:29We're putting this quarterback on the field.
00:31No, it was a big deal everywhere else, you know, from threatened schedule boycotts to the potential battle with the
00:37Big 12.
00:38And I think the Big 12 finally just leaned on Texas Tech a little bit with Brett Yormark and made
00:43it clear that this wasn't going to work out.
00:46Now, for Brendan Sorsby, I hope he has a career in the NFL.
00:51I hope he catches on.
00:52I hope he learns and, you know, treats the gambling addiction.
00:55But Texas Tech, I guess, Bobby, the big question is how long until that reputational hit follows them?
01:01I don't think it'll be very long if they win big, but this will certainly be part of their story
01:06moving forward.
01:08Now, do you see this, I guess, being the right move?
01:11Because it seemed like they were in the clear with Brandon Sorsby.
01:14He was going to play, and then they mutually part ways.
01:16I know, I mean, they worked so hard to get him to play, and now they kind of lost that.
01:22But they still have that reputation of kind of just, like, going over the rules and kind of just breaking
01:26stuff.
01:27So, do you still see this being the right move overall, even though they lost their star quarterback and now
01:32they have somewhat of just, I guess, like an injured quarterback coming in to that QB one spot?
01:37Well, I mean, Bobby said this last week.
01:39I was, you wonder if they expected to win.
01:42So, once they win the court ruling, their defense strategy or their justification strategy was kind of an all-out
01:49assault, so to speak, and on everybody else from that video with Roundtable with the Texas Tech leaders, from Joey
01:59McGuire at the Touchdown Club to Cody Campbell, you know, spouting off on social media.
02:04And it's one of those deals where you're justifying it almost too much, right?
02:09Like, okay, we can see right through that.
02:12And I think most college football fans did.
02:15And at the end of the day, once the Big 12 filed a complaint that could have been a federal
02:19complaint and the millions of dollars that Texas Tech could have lost at that point, I'm kind of glad, Steele,
02:26that this didn't get tied up in the courts.
02:29They came to this decision, and it's the best one for college football.
02:33It really is.
02:34Do you think he'll ultimately get punished by the NFL, Bill?
02:37I don't.
02:38I think it'll be Hunter Deckers, the Iowa State quarterback who got caught gambling in 2022.
02:46He's trying to catch on with the Saints now, you know, in fall camp, mini camp.
02:50He was at those kind of things.
02:52So I think that I don't know if the NFL will, because the punishment is he doesn't get to play
02:59college football again.
03:00And I think that's a fair punishment.
03:02And if he catches on in the NFL supplemental draft or somewhere else, it's going to be a hard path.
03:08He's going to have a lot to overcome.
03:09He's going to have to continue to treat the gambling addiction.
03:11But the talent's there that I think, you know, once he pops up on a preseason game, either this year
03:17or next, we'll all remember what happened.
03:20But, I mean, there's the potential for a real comeback story if he goes to the NFL and plays well.
03:27Yeah, I mean, I don't know how much film you've watched of him.
03:30You said that you think he has the talent to really pop.
03:32I just feel like from the very small amount I've seen, I'm not completely sold on him.
03:38I feel like he struggles with the deep ball a little bit.
03:40He has his legs to rely on.
03:42But, I mean, do you see maybe a system that could possibly fit him at this point?
03:46I don't really know too much about the supplemental draft.
03:48I don't really know how it works.
03:50So I'm just curious, I guess, what teams would be able to kind of just go out on a limb
03:54and actually take him at this point?
03:56I mean, somebody might.
03:57I mean, we talked about this last week.
03:59I mean, Josh Gordon, Terrell Pryor, Bernie Kosar was the supplemental draft pick way back.
04:05And Cleveland fans still love him.
04:07So it's something that can happen.
04:10And, you know, for Brendan Soresby, you mentioned his game.
04:13I mean, he is mobile.
04:14He's got a little bit of a – forgive the comparison.
04:19He reminds me – his game reminds me of Baker Mayfield.
04:23He's just not as good at that game as Baker Mayfield.
04:26There's a little bit of scrambling ability, decent arm.
04:30He's put up good numbers, had a high TD to INT ratio the last couple seasons.
04:34So I think he's a guy that definitely has that – can use that mobility to his advantage.
04:40But there will be a steep learning curve in the NFL.
04:42He probably wouldn't start right away.
04:43But, you know, there are a lot of guys that turn up on Sundays that you're like, oh, yeah, that
04:49guy.
04:49And because if you can catch on on a backup, you're only one play away from playing.
04:53And I'll see you again.
04:53And I'll see you again.
04:53And I'll see you again.
04:53And I'll see you again.
04:53And I'll see you again.
