00:00Lift it or leave it.
00:01Brendan Soresby will be a first round pick in the supplemental draft this year.
00:07You're bringing it now.
00:08I would say lift it.
00:09I think if he is not allowed to play college football, that's the route he could go.
00:14And I think because quarterbacks in the NFL are such commodities that somebody will inevitably
00:21take a chance.
00:22Remember, I'm trying to think of the most notable player to be taken in the supplemental
00:26draft in the last 20 years.
00:28And the first name popping in my head is Terrell Pryor.
00:30Am I wrong in saying that?
00:32Was there somebody else that got drafted since?
00:34Josh Gordon.
00:35Good call.
00:37And why was he drafted?
00:39Because he was a commodity.
00:40Brendan Soresby produced.
00:41If he were eligible, he would be in our top seven college football quarterbacks for 2026.
00:49So there will be some hurdles, but I do think he'll play next year.
00:54What will be interesting with this, Bill, is you look at this.
00:57Brendan Soresby.
00:58A lot of people compare him kind of Jay Cutler-esque.
01:00Moves pretty well.
01:01Big arm.
01:02Throws it.
01:04And so if you need a quarterback and you don't want to have to worry about waiting for
01:08one for next year, maybe you go first.
01:09I could see him going the second.
01:11The first is a really tough one.
01:12Just giving the quarterback class for next season.
01:17Dovetailed with that, lift it or leave it.
01:19He will face some sort of discipline from the NFL for his gambling situation.
01:24I think lift it as well.
01:26I think they'll be forced to give him something just to make sure there's the appearance of
01:34the integrity of the game and nobody protects the shield in that way.
01:37We always question how Roger Goodell punishes players.
01:42But I think lawyers could get involved there, I suppose.
01:46But it's certainly something that will be discussed.
01:49Because, or you could argue that the punishment is he's not allowed to play college football.
01:54And we'll go from there.
01:56And there have been players.
01:58Jamison Williams obviously had a similar suspension, not for betting on NFL games,
02:04but for just betting in general.
02:05And I could see them being open to that before he starts playing in the NFL.
02:10But this just seems like the most logical route, unless there's an injunction next week.
02:16Which, if it is, I guarantee that when I come on this show next week, that's the first thing
02:20we're going to be talking about.
02:22Well, I mean, his judge did recuse himself, who was a double Texas Tech alum.
02:28And I believe the guy choosing his next judge is from Baylor and somewhere else.
02:34But he's not even making the decision.
02:35He's ultimately choosing that.
02:37So we'll see where that goes.
02:38I just, the thing with that, Bill, is if you don't punish him something,
02:42and I think you'll have a hard time pressing that in court, because any logical judge would
02:46look at it and say, you bet on your own games.
02:48Right.
02:49You know, we know that, like, this isn't Jamison Williams in a parking lot, or you betting
02:53on pitches.
02:54There was a point where you bet on your own games.
02:57And in America, there's a federal illegality to that, that I don't know if he's even had
03:02to deal with yet.
03:04So I'd have to imagine you have a hard time finding any type of judge that's just going
03:10to be like, yep, you know what, we're good, and no penalty here, we'll move on.
03:14So I think you will see something.
03:16I'm curious if that'll impact, obviously, his draft stock.
