01:04So with Rob Gronkowski being banged up, Tom Brady being 72 years old, Bill Belichick wants to kick it on
01:10the yard.
01:10Oh, where are you going?
01:12It's a dynasty over.
01:14And I know we do this every year, but it seems a little bit different this year.
01:19Throughout my whole career here, I've been hearing that about every single year.
01:22Brady's done.
01:24Belichick's not enjoying the coaching anymore.
01:26Whatever it is, whatever they come up with, you know, you just let it bounce off the walls and let
01:31it go away.
01:32Of course, you hear it, you know, here and there, but it's a lot of noise.
01:40Wasting your time on negative energy doesn't really help you.
01:43Tom getting old is the new thing every year.
01:45And I don't know if people realize, like, he can't go backwards.
01:48So he's going to keep getting old.
01:49It's not about him getting old.
01:51It's if he's ever going to suck.
01:53Let's go, Tom.
01:53When you come off a Super Bowl loss, I think it was a wake-up call for us.
01:58And I think it really helped propel us into the 2018 season.
02:03The law of Belichick states that you don't dwell on the past.
02:06You prepare for the present.
02:09He did that in 2018 by bringing in a familiar face.
02:13Do you really think that Bill can't tell you apart?
02:16I mean, you guys have been together.
02:18No, I mean, I doubt he can.
02:19There's a lot of people in the building that are struggling to tell us apart.
02:23So they called me Dev for the beginning of training camp.
02:25I think everybody was just so used to just saying Dev that in the beginning they just called us both
02:30Dev.
02:31When we first got here, we both, I think, had on red long sleeves underneath our jerseys.
02:35Coach Belichick calls us up.
02:37He goes, you guys have to wear the same color shirts, everything.
02:40It's hard to tell them apart.
02:42Got to take a second look.
02:44So from that day forward in training camp, we made sure every day we wore the same exact color shirts.
02:50I could tell them apart from a mile away.
02:53I think Jay's a little more chiseled in the face.
02:56Dev's kind of, I think he's been eating a little too much.
02:59He's like, kill me.
03:02Hey, Jay, man.
03:03Have a good year, bro.
03:05The McCourty's are identical.
03:07Their NFL career paths were anything but.
03:10Hey.
03:11I ought to give you that work.
03:13Devin has spent his entire career with the Patriots, making the playoffs every season.
03:19Prior to his brother's arrival, he won two Super Bowls.
03:24Jason spent his first eight NFL seasons in Tennessee, where he never made the playoffs.
03:30In 2017, he signed with the Browns and endured an 0-16 season.
03:37What did I say to you as soon as the season ended in Cleveland?
03:40You got to get out of there.
03:41It was a rough goal for us, obviously, when you go 0-16.
03:45And I remember ending that season and telling my agent, I'm going into year 10.
03:49Like, man, if I can find a way to, you know, move on or have a new start, it would
03:55be awesome.
03:56With Jason on the trading block, Devin sought to make his roommate a teammate.
04:02I text Coach Belichick and told him, two McCourty's better than one.
04:06And I don't get a response for like 30, 45 minutes.
04:10So I was like, dang, I guess he doesn't think Jay's that good.
04:15And then he calls me and he was like, we actually called down there, we traded for him.
04:20Dev FaceTimes me and he was just like, welcome to the Patriots.
04:24I'm just like, what are you talking about?
04:27And he was just like, we just traded for you.
04:29So I started laughing.
04:30I was just like, all right, like, yeah, I bet.
04:33So he was just like, nah, I'm dead serious.
04:35I just got off the phone with Coach Belichick.
04:38We just traded for you.
04:44Growing up, you know, we had basically all the same things, you know, same dreams, same clothes, same shoes.
04:51I really loved our childhood.
04:53You always have somebody there with you.
04:56You always have somebody to go outside and play basketball with, somebody to play video games with.
05:01You just always had a sidekick.
05:03There was also always someone to play football with.
05:06First in Pop Warner, then at St. Joseph Regional High School in New Jersey,
05:10before heading to Rutgers University, and then 2018, almost a decade later, in Foxborough.
05:18I thought it was the perfect time.
05:20I was excited to see what it would bring and what we would bring out of each other being on
05:26the same team again.
05:27The McCourty's were together again.
05:30Tom Brady had his own reunion with his number one receiver.
05:36Governor Abigail's season ended in August.
05:41Brady and a gun.
05:42Throws it by someone to Fort Edelman, runs to the 20.
05:47But he rolls over.
05:48Oh, boy.
05:49And then he favors his right leg, flipping to the far sideline.
05:53I tore my ACL and knew it.
05:55It's tough.
05:56You're coming off a Super Bowl year.
05:59You know, you feel great.
06:01You know, you put in a lot of time in the offseason.
06:04You put a lot of time in training camp.
06:06And to go out there and tear your ACL, I mean, it was one of those things where it just
06:14sucked.
06:15It just sucked.
06:16But you play the game to play the game.
06:19And it becomes a, you know, it becomes a pretty lonely spot.
06:25And there becomes a point where you had to worry about trying to get back to where you can go
06:29out and help this team.
06:31And that's what I had to do.
06:36After spending all of 2017 rehabbing his knee, Edelman was raring to return in 2018.
06:43Well, there's been several suspensions from the NFL today.
06:46Obviously, Julian Edelman, the latest and the biggest, his appeal, officially denied, according to his source, informed of this situation.
06:54That means he's going to be out the first four games of 2018 with a PED suspension.
07:01Obviously, I felt, you know, this is terrible news.
07:06You know, regardless of the situation, there's a lot of people that count on you.
07:11You know, your teammates, your coaches, the organization, your fans, your family, your friends.
07:18And you let a lot of people down.
07:21You know, and it was a very tough time in my life.
07:25Tommy was a real huge help because the year prior, he had to go through, you know, some similar situations.
07:30And he just told me, take advantage of this time.
07:34Stay in a routine.
07:36Work your tail off.
07:37And you got to do everything you can to get yourself back in the situation of going out there and
07:43helping your team.
07:43And, you know, trying to earn these people's trust back.
07:48And that's what I had to do.
07:52Still to come.
07:53And the Patriots stand stunned.
07:55Miami miracle.
07:57Didn't disbelieve.
07:58Even though I'm a spectacular tackler, I missed it.
08:01And then we went back-to-back losses to Jacksonville, to Detroit.
08:05And the offense was just not clicking.
08:08We weren't making yards.
08:09We weren't putting up points.
08:11We weren't getting first downs.
08:12We weren't converting it on third down.
08:14Both sides of the ball were playing bad.
08:16Like, I had been here before where, you know, offense has a bad game or the defense has a bad
08:20game.
08:21And the other one picks them up and then eventually we get moved.
08:24But it was just like, if it didn't go well in the beginning for us, it was just like, all
08:28right, it's going to keep getting worse and worse.
08:32This is a microcosm of what they are right now.
08:38We win so many games around here in New England.
08:40Like, no one wants to be a part of that year where you don't win games and have a chance
08:45in the playoffs.
08:46Hey, fellas, there's a verse in the Bible that says when adversity, if any kind, hits, it's a chance for
08:52our endurance to grow.
08:53When our faith is tested, it's a chance for our endurance to grow, fellas.
09:06In week four, the defense had one of its best performances of the season, holding the Dolphins to just seven
09:13points.
09:16The Patriots had evened their record at two and two, and their suspended superstar was about to make his return.
09:25I had some butterflies driving into the facility more than I've had in the years past for your first day.
09:33I was excited.
09:34I was nervous.
09:36I was ecstatic.
09:38I was emotional.
09:41I don't know.
09:41I guess I was to get to go out and then see the fellas, see the coaches, and get ready
09:47for 2018.
09:50And that's it.
09:53Peace.
09:55Dispension's over.
10:06Tom Brady on first play of the game, throws upfield.
10:09It's caught by Julian Edelman, his first catch since 2016.
10:13It was cool to get that first catch.
10:15It was a confidence builder.
10:16Once I got hit, once I was able to go out and run, I was like, hey, let's lock, load,
10:22and let's go.
10:25I haven't played football in, I think it was like 400 or five days or something like that.
10:29So it was good to get out there and catch some rocks and go out and make some plays, and
10:35it was just great to be back.
10:37We wanted to get him involved, and he made some great plays.
10:40And, you know, I've been playing with Jules for a long time and really happy, you know, to have him
10:45out there healthy and having fun.
10:48Julian Edelman had seven catches in his comeback.
10:52The following week against the Chiefs, he reached the end zone for the first time in 21 months.
11:05It was nice to get back in there.
11:06You know, it's like a warm, cozy spot that, you know, on a cold day, you just want to lie
11:12next to.
11:14That's what that sounds like.
11:18The Chiefs entered the game at 5-0, scoring at least 27 points in every game.
11:24It'd be no different in New England, where they amassed 446 yards and scored four touchdowns.
11:31Hill makes the catch at the 35.
11:33Go on!
11:34Touchdown!
11:36Unbelievable.
11:38But Tom Brady and the Patriots matched them point for point.
11:45And, yeah, they, Mahomes kind of proved he was the next guy.
11:50Brady, they're going through the end zone!
11:51The Great Wolves rise to that type of occasion.
11:57With the game tied at 40, the work Rob Gronkowski did back in training camp paid dividends.
12:06Gronkowski makes me up with the turner catch!
12:08Inside the 10!
12:10Great job.
12:10I'm putting his hands up too early.
12:12Two hole favors making the play at the end of the game when you need it.
12:1628-yard attack for the win.
12:18Kick lifted in the up front, right down the middle!
12:22A game winner for Gronkowski!
12:25And the Patriots prevail!
12:2843-40!
12:30We definitely knew that this was an important game because, you know, they're one of the
12:34premier teams in this league.
12:36This is a measuring stick game.
12:37This is where we're going to see where we're at.
12:39And these teams may very well meet again.
12:42You'll see this team again down the road.
12:45All right, fellas, congratulations.
12:47Talking about competing for 60 minutes, that's what it took.
12:49You guys fought your ass off out there.
12:51All right, that's a good football team.
12:52Give them credit for the way they played.
12:54You guys, we just played a little bit better.
12:56We were in that little funk for those two games we lost.
13:00We couldn't really find our identity.
13:03But now we're rolling.
13:06Prowing inside the five and into the end zone!
13:10Touchdown, Patriots!
13:12You're never going to have the same team that you have in September that you do in October,
13:16that you do in November, that you do in December.
13:19Hopefully your team's improving.
13:21And that's what started happening.
13:23You're getting contributions from everyone.
13:25And we were worrying about just improving.
13:28Goodbye!
13:30Pick six!
13:31Devin McCourty!
13:33Touchdown, Patriots!
13:35Villa pushed us to continue to work and get better.
13:39I thought the team really took that as a challenge.
13:42Rodgers, backpedals in the pocket.
13:43Playboard gets to him!
13:44Way to push the pocket!
13:46The pass rush is what we want, all right?
13:48That's the idea right there, all right?
13:51Let's keep doing that.
13:52One more, boys!
13:54We need one more!
13:57Brady drops back, throws it down the left side.
13:58Wide open!
13:59Gordon makes the catch!
14:00Slips a hit!
14:01Goodbye!
14:02Touchdown, Patriots!
14:03Oh, start the buses!
14:06Good job, Tommy!
14:07Good job, man!
14:08Seven and two.
14:08It's a long ways from one and two where we were.
14:10We strung together a lot of wins playing good football.
14:12And, you know, we've got to keep it going.
14:14We've got another big win this week.
14:16The Patriots traveled to the Music City, riding a six-game winning streak.
14:21For Jason McCourty, it was a return to the town he called home for eight seasons.
14:26Tennessee gave me a chance.
14:28A six-round draft pick, a kid from NIAC, New York, to go there and be able to have the
14:33opportunity
14:33to work his butt off, which eventually gave me the opportunity to win the New England Patriots.
14:38I walk in this building today, I thought of one word.
14:41Opportunity!
14:42My opportunity here got me here!
14:44We're shot!
14:45For a reason!
14:47For a reason!
14:48The opportunity here got me here!
14:50In this huddle!
14:51On this side!
14:53New England squandered their opportunity for a seventh straight win, and suffered their
14:58most lopsided loss of the season.
15:01The Patriots have been thoroughly dominated today in every phase.
15:07Why?
15:08The Patriots would eventually win their tenth straight division title.
15:12But as everyone in New England knows, it's important to play your best football after Thanksgiving.
15:19Since 2000, Bill Belichick's teams are 64-13 in the month of December.
15:24Tops in the NFL.
15:26But in 2018, their air of invincibility took a hit after a miracle in Miami.
15:33And you go to Miami, and for some odd, I don't know why, they don't play too well there.
15:41The Dolphins down 33-28.
15:44With seven ticks left, a miracle touchdown.
15:46Showing that they can save them.
15:47Daniel throws down the middle, caught by Stills.
15:50Laterals, back to Parker, who flips it to Drake.
15:54He runs across the 40, but he'll do anything.
15:58Angling inside to the 30.
15:5925, 20, 15, 10.
16:02He's going to win the foot race to the end zone!
16:04The Dolphins are going to win it!
16:06I'm a lateral!
16:08I was a miracle.
16:10It's the reason you always struggle to beat the Dolphins.
16:13It's a safety, and it was supposed to be a Hail Mary.
16:15There was no Hail Mary.
16:17They're doing the hook and ladder, and all of a sudden, I see Kenyon Drake coming full speed.
16:21I know this guy's fast.
16:22He blows right by me.
16:24I almost fall, and they won the game.
16:26It was the Miami miracle.
16:29Look at Gronkowski's stumble!
16:31He was the safety!
16:33I missed that tackle.
16:35You know, even though I'm a spectacular tackler, I missed it that time, all right?
16:41And the Patriots stand stunned in disbelief!
16:46We had that game won again, and we had it won, but it wasn't the end of our season.
16:53We knew that we were going to have to come together as a team even more if we wanted to
16:57keep on moving forward, if we wanted to get to where we needed to get to.
17:01And we go to Pittsburgh, and we lay another goose egg, basically.
17:06And the game hinges on a fourth and 15.
17:10Ready, throw into the end zone.
17:11Ball's tipped, and it lands incomplete.
17:13Two gross losses in the month of December as you're closing out a year.
17:18It was another tough two weeks, which were really tougher than Jacksonville and Detroit
17:22from a sense of, this is what we talked about.
17:25We talked about getting better for this part of the season, and then you go lose two on
17:29the road.
17:31It was kind of like, you know, what's going on?
17:33Like, now what?
17:34And I hate to say this, and Patriots fans, don't get mad at me.
17:37I'm not worried about the Patriots this year.
17:38It isn't your season.
17:40You guys are not going to the Super Bowl.
17:43We all had to look in the mirror, and it was just more or less like, who are we going
17:47to be, and what are we going to be?
17:49Nothing's going to be handed to us.
17:50Just because the team has gone to back-to-back Super Bowls doesn't mean you're going back
17:54this year.
17:54They're going to have to go out there and really go get it.
18:02The Patriots began their AFC title defense against the Chargers.
18:06Let's go!
18:08Let's go!
18:10A team that many pundits picked to unseat them.
18:13Pick time.
18:14I am going with the Chargers to win in Foxborough.
18:17They are looking forward to this challenge, so I'm going to the Chargers on the road.
18:20I'm going to go with the Chargers.
18:22Take a look at Tom Brady.
18:24He won't play as well as he has in the past.
18:26Everyone is living off the past, and sometimes, you know what?
18:30The past strikes out.
18:31I understand I'm putting myself in jeopardy.
18:33He won two years ago.
18:36Oh, my God.
18:37I think this weekend's going to be remembered as the weekend that this, the greatest run
18:42in NFL history in my eyes, greater than what the Steelers did in the 70s, greater than what
18:46the Cowboys did in the 90s, the Niners in the 80s, this is the weekend it ends.
18:52Tom Brady is the most decorated player in postseason history.
18:57But it was rookie running back, Sonny Michel, who stole the show.
19:03Wait, 27!
19:05Brady with a give to Sonny Michel, stretching to the right.
19:07Finds an opening, runs past it.
19:09Tackle to the 45-40, to the 30, to the 20, to the 15-10.
19:13Tracked out from behind by Derwin James.
19:16Phenomenal run by Sonny Michel.
19:18Michel rushed for 129 yards and three first-half touchdowns.
19:29So I've been hearing for years, every time we get ready for the playoffs, everyone talks
19:33about a playoff experience, and Bill comes in there and he's like, don't tell me about
19:38a playoff experience.
19:39All that matters is you are playing good football, and I thought Sonny is a great example of that.
19:47Michel runs up the middle, driving his way into the end zone!
19:53Touchdown, Patriots!
19:55And if we question, how's the rookie going to look in his first playoff game?
19:58He's looked pretty good so far.
20:00Let's go, Sonny!
20:03Let's go!
20:05We were able to run the ball, and anytime you're able to run the football, it creates openings
20:11for other things, and we were able to capitalize on those things.
20:18In his first playoff game since Super Bowl 51, Julian Edelman recorded the most prolific
20:25performance of his postseason career, tallying 151 yards on nine catches.
20:33All night long.
20:35I know Richie, bro.
20:38All night long.
20:40I mean, who doesn't love Lionel Richie?
20:43The guy?
20:45I love Lionel.
20:46All night long, baby.
20:48Love Lionel.
20:50Julian Edelman, dazzling all day long.
20:53Yeah, it's not even nighttime, though.
20:56So, that doesn't work.
20:58Foxborough.
21:05Julian's a beast.
21:06Big games come.
21:07He's always coming out to play.
21:09You never see Julian in big games back down.
21:12Finish the game!
21:13Finish!
21:18Brady goes a lob.
21:19Door sets wide open.
21:20Touchdown, Patriots!
21:21Brady, surgical!
21:24Hey.
21:26We need to go win on the road.
21:28The Patriots are bound for the AFC Championship for an eighth straight year.
21:33Kansas City, here we come.
21:39Well, you mentioned it.
21:40Your eighth straight AFC Championship game, and it's a rematch against Kansas City.
21:44This time, though, in Arrowhead.
21:46What can we expect from that one?
21:48It'll be a good game.
21:49They're a good team.
21:50And we played him earlier this year.
21:51You know, I know, you know, everyone thinks we suck and, you know, can't win any games.
21:57So, we'll see.
21:57It'll be fun.
21:58I think he's genuinely pissed off that people think we suck.
22:03100%.
22:03He just brought up something that everyone's been saying about us throughout.
22:08In a rematch with the AFC's top seed, they would have to endure one of the most hostile road environments
22:14in the NFL.
22:15Arrowhead Stadium, this place is electric.
22:17It was just kind of already written that there was no way New England could go on the road and
22:23beat Kansas City.
22:24The Patriots tried to defy the conventional thought that this team has to be at home to win in the
22:30postseason.
22:31He knew it was going to be a hostile environment against a team that was going to be the best
22:35team you played in that year to go to the Super Bowl.
22:42I had this whole speech about the people that doubted us, proving them wrong, doing all that, and I realized
22:48that don't matter.
22:49This game tonight is about us, our journey, trusting each other, loving each other, playing for each other tonight.
22:56That's what it's about.
22:58Nobody else.
22:59Nobody.
23:01Innovation sideline, but many believe that this Chiefs team is ready to take the baton from the Patriots because of
23:08their young quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
23:13New England shut out the Chiefs in the first half by shutting down league MVP, Patrick Mahomes.
23:24And his top wide receiver, Tyreek Hill.
23:27We came up with a game plan where we had two guys on him the whole game.
23:32That's the number one thing New England's going to take away in this game.
23:35They are not going to let him win this football game.
23:38We can't give you what you want.
23:40Hey, they don't know what to do now.
23:43You're going against a guy who just had 175 yards and three touchdowns the first time you played him, and
23:50he has one catch.
23:53What we were doing from a defensive standpoint, it was a pretty good defense against him.
23:58You don't like this defense?
23:59You should love this defense.
24:03This is probably the best defense ever.
24:05You got to love this one.
24:08Let's go, boys.
24:09We need points.
24:11That's why we're here.
24:18It was that time again.
24:19I mean, I felt like our offense rolled when we were more under pressure.
24:23We just knew we had to find ways to put up points.
24:27Touchdown, Patriots!
24:28We didn't care if it was fancy.
24:30We didn't care if it was dirty.
24:32We didn't care if it was running the ball.
24:34We didn't care if it was passing.
24:36Brady pumps.
24:36He throws it down the left side for a door set.
24:38And he makes the catch in the end zone.
24:41Touchdown, Patriots!
24:46Nice ball.
24:47Nice ball!
24:49He's too old!
24:51Everyone kept on saying it, so you let them know.
24:55You know, you agree with them sometimes.
24:57He's too old to make those throws.
25:02Bombs in arrowhead for touchdowns.
25:07You know, you've got to let them know sometimes.
25:09You've got to let them know you're agreeing with the people.
25:14Up by three with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter,
25:17the Patriots' 11th Super Bowl appearance was within reach.
25:23Peter!
25:24Peter!
25:25Chiefs need a bounce.
25:26They get one.
25:27Across the 35.
25:28Mishandled by Edelman.
25:29Picked up on the run by Dieter.
25:30On and cover to the end zone.
25:32And in touch it.
25:33Edelman muffs the football.
25:35I didn't touch it.
25:37When I saw him back away from the ball,
25:39I was like, there's no way Julian touched it.
25:41I felt like if he truly touched the ball,
25:43he would have tried to hop on it right away.
25:45He would have had that instinct like,
25:47oh, I hit the ball, I would have hopped right on it.
25:49I don't think I touched it.
25:51I don't think I did.
25:53You didn't feel nothing?
25:54I didn't feel it.
25:55I'm 100% sure it did not touch my wonderful all-red cutters.
26:12I'm glad that they got the call right.
26:14But it didn't even matter.
26:16We got to tip the ball.
26:16We picked two plays later.
26:18They won't review that one.
26:20That play stands.
26:21It is an interception.
26:23New 27.
26:25In a frantic fourth quarter,
26:27the teams exchanged the lead three times.
26:31Demian way up to the end zone.
26:33And the Chiefs regain the lead.
26:36What a game.
26:38Let's go now.
26:39Let's go now.
26:41It ain't over.
26:42It ain't even close.
26:43There's going to be some adversity now.
26:44Let's go, baby.
26:45Down by four with a minute remaining.
26:48The Patriots needed a touchdown.
26:53From the Chiefs' 34-yard line.
26:55Brady dropping back.
26:56Throws it right underneath.
26:57Off the hands of Gronkowski.
26:59Intercepted.
27:03D4.
27:05D4.
27:06Good game, boy.
27:07Good game.
27:08We just threw an interception.
27:10And I just saw the flash of my eyes that the season was over.
27:15I'm on the ground.
27:16And I'm just hoping for a second chance.
27:18Offside.
27:19Defense.
27:20Number 55.
27:21Whenever you get a second chance, you've got to be ready.
27:24I just know time.
27:25In that situation, I just knew the ball was going to come to me no matter what.
27:29A lob down the left side for Gronkowski.
27:32Makes the catch.
27:33He's got it.
27:34Inside the five.
27:41Brady is going to turn and give it to Burke.
27:42And he runs to the left behind Devlin.
27:44He blows his way to the end zone.
27:46Touchdown, Patriots.
27:47And they regain the lead.
27:49One.
27:50Yes.
27:51No.
27:52The MVP matched the GOAT.
27:55Marching downfield to send the AFC Championship game to overtime.
28:00Get your mind ready for overtime.
28:03Let's go to overtime.
28:04Let's go.
28:07Baldy doesn't pay for cart rent.
28:0931-31 tie.
28:10We begin overtime.
28:11New England has to have a touchdown on this drive to win it.
28:14When you get to play with an offense like this, that last drive, I was like, man, this game is
28:19going to be over.
28:20Hey, let's go to the Super Bowl now.
28:23Hey, let's go to the Super Bowl.
28:25Ready.
28:27Third down and ten for the pass.
28:29Throws down the middle.
28:30Edelman opens the midfield.
28:31Makes the catch.
28:32And then lunges forward across the 45.
28:35Edelman continues to be a forward on the side for the Chiefs.
28:38And for the third time in this drive, the Patriots have third and ten.
28:42The first time, 20 to Edelman.
28:44Second time, 15 to Edelman.
28:46What will the Patriots do here with the ball at the Kansas City 30?
28:53Grady in the pocket.
28:54Drills down the middle.
28:54Gronk makes the catch at the 20.
28:56First down for New England.
28:57Nice play, Gronk.
28:59You're a beast.
29:02Second and goal.
29:03New England at the two-yard line.
29:05And the Patriots can win with a touchdown.
29:08The Patriots try to do what they did to the Falcons in Super Bowl 51.
29:13A give to Birkett.
29:14Runs and left for the win.
29:18Touchdown, Patriots.
29:19And they're bound for Super Bowl 53.
29:24All I could think about is just running on the field and seeing my brother and hugging him.
29:29And I'm like, man, he doesn't even know what he's really getting into and just being so happy.
29:38Welcome to the Super Bowl!
29:42Welcome to the Super Bowl!
29:46Welcome to the Super Bowl!
30:01Unreal!
30:01Hey, we got one more!
30:03Hey!
30:03Yeah, yeah!
30:04This is, this is cute!
30:05Yeah!
30:05We win that next one!
30:07That's where the real fun is!
30:09Yeah!
30:09That's where, that's where you're, you're, you always be a champion!
30:12This is both, this is awesome!
30:13Don't get me wrong!
30:14But the next one, let's go!
30:17He went from 0-14 with the winless Browns to Super Bowl champion.
30:28How, how much better does it get for Jason McCourty?
30:33Not playing the year before, not playing the first four, being counted out multiple times
30:38by everyone, and you're getting to go back to the Super Bowl for the third straight time.
30:44You know, we may not talk about that being the goal every year, but, you know, you want
30:51to play in the last game of the year, and we were going back to play in the last game
30:55of
30:55the year.
30:56I'm going to the Super Bowl!
30:57You're going to the Super Bowl!
30:58I'm not, I'm not against it!
31:00He's not against it!
31:00Patriots defied the doubters by reaching Super Bowl 53, but for Julian Edelman, the
31:06game was about more than proving a point.
31:10You were appreciative to be there, because I sat and watched the year before.
31:16You appreciate any time you get to play in a Super Bowl, but there was a little extra oomph.
31:21Let's go, baby.
31:23That's why we play, baby.
31:25This was a long year.
31:26We weren't supposed to be here.
31:28Everyone thinks we're going to lose.
31:30Everyone thinks, you know, we're not good enough.
31:32Our time's over.
31:34But we're here, and we're ready to work.
31:37When I think about this, it's one last time.
31:39When I was reading a verse in Ecclesiastics, it says two is better for one, but they have
31:44a great reward.
31:45Because if one falls, the other one can pick them up.
31:48The other one can pick them up.
31:50What was the man who was alone?
31:52Because no one can pick them up.
31:54I remember reading that, I want to say maybe a day or two days after the AFC Championship
31:59game.
31:59And I was like, that's not only this team.
32:02That's my journey of having a twin brother.
32:04You know, it would have still meant something the year before.
32:07But to have your twin brother, the guy that's been picking you up and you pick him up since
32:12you first learned how to crawl and walk and you were falling.
32:15And it was a reminder that this is about us.
32:18Like, this is something we get to do together.
32:20Let's have each other's back for another 60 minutes.
32:24Growing up, warming up for those Pop Warner games, playing to now, it was like everything
32:29came full circle.
32:38Tommy, he's like a brother.
32:40And he treats me like a little brother sometimes.
32:43You know, I'm very happy that I've got to play with him.
32:46Let's just say that.
32:48You know, love the dude.
32:50Edelman and Tom Brick.
32:52Sentimental stuff.
32:53And then they went out and played the lowest scoring Super Bowl in history.
33:20It's one of those things where he sees something and I see something and we just go to work.
33:26If you get this, just run your ass off of that first down.
33:29I got it.
33:30Brady, drop him back, look at the throw.
33:32Dancing in the pocket.
33:33Throws it right.
33:33Edelman wide open at the 40.
33:35Edelman is killing whoever's on it.
33:38Angel!
33:39Angel!
33:40They can't cover Edelman.
33:42Even when he's double teamed, he still keeps winning.
33:48Poked.
33:49Edelman capped his comeback campaign with 10 catches for 141 yards.
33:56He now has his sixth career 100-yard receiving game in the postseason.
34:00Only Jerry Rice has caught more passes in the postseason.
34:03Edelman is your early favorite for Super Bowl MVP.
34:08The Patriots were accumulating yards, but through two and a half quarters, they could only muster one field goal.
34:16Hey!
34:17Keep playing!
34:19Keep playing!
34:20Keep playing!
34:23Defensively, New England was shutting out the NFC's highest scoring team.
34:29Rams right now with far and away their best drive of the evening.
34:33With a first in 10 coming up from the Patriots, 29.
34:36Goff on the drop.
34:37Throws to the end zone.
34:40And the ball is knocked in complete thanks to a great recovery by Jason McCourty.
34:46Not today!
34:47Not today!
34:49I saw the ball go up, and I'm sitting there doing the math in my head, like geometry, hypotenuse, this.
35:00I was like, is he going to get there?
35:02As I saw the play developing, I went to take off getting backwards and kind of just peeked over and
35:08just saw Cooks wide open.
35:11When Goff let it go, there wasn't a Patriot within 10 yards.
35:15And in that moment, I just put my head down and just ran forward, never looked back for the ball.
35:21He comes from the opposite side of the field and makes that play.
35:25Jason McCourty closed quickly.
35:27That should have been six.
35:29It's Jay just gave everything he got to get there.
35:34And it was probably the biggest defensive player of the game.
35:37It was awesome to see him get to make that play because of the journey he's had to go to
35:42get to play in this game.
35:43Jason McCourty in his first postseason.
35:46Big defensive gym there.
35:48Jason McCourty's heroics held the Rams to a field goal, tying the game at three.
35:54Let's go now.
35:54Let's get one.
35:55We got to.
35:56We have to.
35:5817 years after the Patriots captured their first Super Bowl championship, led by the same head coach, same quarterback, are
36:06on the verge of a sixth title.
36:08We're wearing them out, huh?
36:10We're close.
36:11Everyone's got it.
36:12Everyone's got it.
36:12We're close, all right?
36:13Yeah.
36:18Brady stands in, lobs a throw to Gronkowski, down to the right sideline, makes the catch.
36:21You go to what's worth, it's Edelman and Gronkowski.
36:25Let's go, guys.
36:26Hey, Gronk, I need you.
36:28Feel a big play for Gronk.
36:31Second and three, upcoming eight-minute mark, fourth quarter.
36:35Shotgun snap to Brady.
36:36Lobs a throw for Gronkowski.
36:39Makes the catch over two defenders.
36:43Gronk's preseason preparation paid off in the postseason.
36:49I knew the ball was coming to me, and I have a seam route.
36:52And boom, I made that motion right at the right time where only I could go out there and make
36:57a play.
36:58Tom put the ball up right where I could do it.
37:00And first down, it was one of the biggest plays of my career.
37:03That throw to Gronkowski, folks, that one's for NFL films, that's one for posterity.
37:17The final catch of Rob Gronkowski's career put the Patriots in the red zone for the first time all game.
37:25Brady gives to Michelle, lobs it left.
37:28A dive to the end zone.
37:29Touchdown, Patriots.
37:31That's the offense I know.
37:33That's the offense we love.
37:34It's fourth quarter, and it's money time for the greatest guy to ever suit it up.
37:39Hey, Tommy.
37:40The Patriots have won their sixth Super Bowl title.
37:45Love you. Love you, dude.
37:46Hell of a game.
37:48It was definitely a great day just because it was such a mentally, physically, emotionally long, long year.
37:56Like, honestly, 20 months, 18 months, just, you know, grinding, you know, being able to fight and really believe in
38:06yourself.
38:12Yeah, it was a special day.
38:14It was a special day that I'll never forget.
38:18Hey.
38:19Hey.
38:20You guys looking awesome.
38:21Love it.
38:22You guys looking awesome.
38:36That's where we were the worst team, where we sucked.
38:39We found a way.
38:39We found our identity.
38:41That's all we needed to do.
38:42And we did it.
38:43Keep on grinding.
38:45That's all it was.
38:46But after a season like that, we knew all that hard work finally paid off.
38:51I just really wanted to live in the moment of right there, winning the Super Bowl, my first one, getting
38:56a chance to win with my brother, and just looking around that stadium and just like, man, like, we did
39:02it.
39:02Like, I finally got me my own brain.
39:05The third one is the most special one for me, but it's only because he's here.
39:11Just imagine, you know, what he feels like, you know, I'm sitting here, and I feel great, and this is
39:16my third time doing this, and that's all I could think about, you know, was he has this feeling now.
39:21Coach, I appreciate it, man.
39:22MVP.
39:23Long year, man.
39:24I appreciate you, coach.
39:25Appreciate you, too, buddy.
39:27Appreciate it.
39:28With the downs and everything, man.
39:30The way you treated me on that whole thing, it was awesome.
39:33Like a fatherly free.
39:34You earned it, buddy.
39:35You earned it.
39:35Thanks, coach.
39:36It was cool to get it, but honestly, it was great.
39:39It was more, it was, I was more happy that we just won the game.
39:43In the early 2000s, they won three of four.
39:46Now, they have won three of the last five.
39:49And yes, it's still a dynasty.
39:52Yeah, coach.
39:53Since 2010, bro.
39:54Yeah.
39:56Whenever you're at the top like that, people just make up stuff, just saying the Patriots dynasty is done.
40:02They said it every year, and one year, they will be right, but they've never been right yet.
40:08How are you doing?
40:10Congratulations.
40:11You're awesome.
40:12You're awesome.
40:12You're awesome.
40:14Well, finally, after nearly 20 years, they were right.
40:21They were.
40:22It just wasn't supposed to be the Titan.
40:26Hey, B.B.
40:29Hey, B.B.
40:32What do you imagine?
40:33I'm happy.
40:34What are you doing?
40:35Happy but not satisfied.
40:36That's definitely, that's how it goes.
40:38Now we gotta go do it again.
40:49I just wanted to lay a hit on Julian.
40:51I wanted to get that bunt off him because, you know, Julian was throwing that heat.
40:55Oh, there it is.
