00:00So you had a very, you know, fulfilling soccer career, a football career that, you know, it's impressive when you
00:06see it in paper, but then you had another dream in you, and a way for you to keep sharing
00:11the love of the game, which is this amazing book, Pequeña Vero Grandes Sueños, which is my lingua, which I
00:17love, is in Spanish, and me being a native Spanish speaker, to see the effort to pass on the language
00:24to new generations of kids in the United States, but all across the Spanish-speaking countries, it's great.
00:29Tell me a little bit of how this book came to be.
00:31So, yeah, so Little Battle, Big Dreams, it came to be, honestly, I never thought I'd write a book.
00:37I'm actually a really shy, quiet person.
00:40I don't like to speak very much, but I've traveled all over the world, have so many adventures, so people
00:46would always be like, Vero, you should write about it.
00:48And I was like, ah, I don't want to write.
00:50Like, a big autobiography is intimidating to me.
00:52But I really like kids.
00:54I like training the younger generation, so I was like, I think I'm going to do a children's book.
00:59I have a story to share.
01:01I don't think I've ever really seen a lot of Latinas, also, like, powerful women role models when I was
01:08growing up.
01:08So I wanted to be able to, like, have something for the next generation.
01:13This is amazing.
01:14Let's take a look.
01:16Al equipo de producción.
01:17We're going to pull out the rev cam that we have here.
01:21Check that out.
01:23But we can get to see the book here, POV.
01:26This is Vero.
01:27The illustrations are great.
01:29Who made the illustrations?
01:30So it's actually an illustrator from Chile.
01:32So I was trying to find a Latina illustrator.
01:35Because I'm not an artist.
01:37So I wish, you know, that's not my talent.
01:39So I definitely found someone who would help me out in that area.
01:43That is super cool.
01:45Saludos, bien.
01:46Everybody's here in the house.
01:48I was a little tidbit.
01:49I put the pink jersey because my first team that I started out in AY, we were pink.
01:57Oh, I love that.
01:58Yeah, we were called the Pink Cotton Candy Kickers.
02:01You know, AY has funny names.
02:03So the children's book, super sweet, kid-friendly.
02:06Amazing.
02:07Now, what have you been doing to promote this book?
02:10I know that you've been doing some public speaking, going to clubs, with youth clubs.
02:13How is it to, like, be out in the field in a different capacity altogether, but still inspiring girls?
02:19Yeah, I think it's...
02:20And boys.
02:20And boys.
02:21Yeah, definitely young, yeah, boys and girls.
02:23It's been super special, different for me, a new chapter.
02:26I've also been going to a lot of schools, elementary, middle schools, libraries,
02:30just to be in a different room, but sharing my passion.
02:35I still love talking about football, and the kids just eat it up.
02:39I think they just want to see someone in front of them, in person,
02:44who, like, has lived the dream that, you know, is...
02:46That many of them have.
02:47That many of them have.
02:48And then, you know, they love...
02:51I go and play with them at recess, and that's, like, their favorite part.
02:54All they want is, like, a photo and autographed to them.
02:56They're like, oh, my God, sign my shoe.
02:58I'm going to score the 200 goals with this.
02:59I'm like, yeah, you are.
03:01So it's just super fun.
03:03It's, like, fulfilling, honestly.
