00:00:10Matt, we kicked off the season last week with a lot of surprises.

00:00:14We started with ninjas from the West region, and they delivered.

00:00:18We had three women hit buzzers, including the great Jesse Brown.

00:00:23Ninja coach Josiah Papel had the fastest run of the night

00:00:26and followed it with the season's first mega-roll.

00:00:29Oh, my.

00:00:31Well, all our athletes are trying to advance to next week's regional finals

00:00:34when we'll see our new three-lane race course, the Triple Header.

00:00:38But for a preview of tonight's course, let's go ahead to Zuri Hall.

00:00:41Thanks, guys.

00:00:42Tonight we are going to see more top ninjas from the West region,

00:00:45and here's what they'll be facing.

00:00:47Like last week, the course starts with the shrinking steps.

00:00:51Then it's this brand-new obstacle, Roller Bags.

00:00:54The balance obstacle is Diamond Dash.

00:00:57That's followed by Kite Surfer, which knocked out more ninjas

00:01:01than any other obstacle last week.

00:01:04The fifth obstacle, Kaleidoscope, also ended many runs.

00:01:08Oh!

00:01:09Once again, if ninjas survive and conquer the Warped Wall in under a minute ten,

00:01:14then they'll earn a shot at the Mega Wall.

00:06:18He's a grad student at Stanford,

00:06:20but his first love is working on his family's cattle ranch.

00:06:28I'm a sixth generation cattle rancher.

00:06:31We run a couple hundred acres with a hundred head of cows.

00:06:34Hey, mosey!

00:06:38Typical day on the ranch, get up, feed cattle, bring them in.

00:06:41You put them in the chute, work them.

00:06:42You band them, give them vaccines, and give the cows some love.

00:06:45Hello, buddy.

00:06:47The idea of sort of farm strength definitely is real.

00:06:50Sometimes the calves get out.

00:06:52You know, you got to be ready and engage

00:06:54and have some strong grip strength to hold on to a 400-pound calf.

00:06:57All right, gentlemen.

00:06:58That's enough now.

00:06:59So I'm a graduate student at Stanford University

00:07:01where I studied soil science.

00:07:03I sort of took that love for soil,

00:07:05how those little moments as a kid that I grew up, you know,

00:07:07covered in that mud, transferred to me, you know,

00:07:09getting muddy in the Stanford labs

00:07:11and going out and learning about it from a scientific perspective.

00:07:15Bell pepper.

00:07:19Every time I come home from school

00:07:21and my grandpa's like,

00:07:22have you been hitting the gym?

00:07:23That's a waste of energy, you know?

00:07:28you can be bucking bales.

00:07:29There's always things to do,

00:07:30and I think that definitely builds a unique strength

00:07:31that I'm hoping that'll carry me through this course.

00:11:35Minutes ago, three ninjas from Washington State hit the course.

00:11:39Tech investor Brandon Hong's got an impressive resume.

00:11:42He graduated from the University of Washington at 18,

00:11:45then created and sold a tech company at 22.

00:11:48All right, here we go.

00:11:49But the rookie stumbled in his first time on the course.

00:11:52Oh!

00:11:53That ended quickly.

00:11:54I don't even know what happened.

00:11:56I think I just misjudged the step, honestly.

00:11:59Smokane's Clarissa Moore is shown why she's nicknamed the Bicep Bane.

00:12:07the mother of two swung past the first two obstacles with ease.

00:13:06wearing traditional clothing to honor her Philippine heritage.

00:13:10She may be young,

00:13:11but she's been competing in athletic events all over the world.

00:13:17And my name is Praj.

00:13:33I love Ninja Warrior for the same reason I love climbing.

00:13:39I love the thrill of just flying through the air

00:13:42and just feeling the wind go by my hair

00:13:44and just like, whoa, that is an amazing feeling.

00:13:49I competed in the Open National for the Philippines

00:13:54and I won first.

00:13:57Normally, when I compete abroad,

00:13:59I always happen to find myself being the youngest person.

00:14:04And tonight, I am also going to be the youngest person.

00:14:08Up, up, up, up, up, up.

00:14:10Let's go!

00:14:11I feel like everyone is taking care of me

00:14:16and teaching me, oh, this is how you do this,

00:14:19this is how you do that.

00:14:20So I think it's going to give me more confidence tonight.

00:14:33Praj was born in the Philippines,

00:14:34travels there frequently.

00:15:58this is Idaho's Devin Haar.

00:16:00He's not just a dentist.

00:16:01He also runs a family farm and is a dad to seven kids.

00:16:10Having seven kids can be a bit crazy sometimes.

00:16:16If you hold it down, they won't jump up to you.

00:16:18But here in the country, they can run out on the property

00:16:21and be gone for hours or building something or playing with the animals, hide-and-seek.

00:16:27There's just always something for them to do and to be creative.

00:16:33Kids absolutely love working out with me.

00:16:50I have been a dentist for a little over eight years.

00:16:56My very favorite part of being a dentist is seeing the transformation in patients' lives.

00:17:02When you can build their self-confidence through changing their smile,

00:17:07it really can change their lives.

00:17:09We're starting off with a visit from the dentist, Doc.

00:17:13It's rookie year.

00:17:1431 years old.

00:17:16This is my fifth season competing on American Ninja Warrior,

00:17:19and I've never hit a buzzer.

00:17:29Just like in life, you can learn from your past mistakes,

00:17:32and I am ready to go all the way.

00:27:40And tonight, we've got two athletes from the state of Alaska.

00:27:44Up first is high schooler, Talos Bunch.

00:27:47He's the first teenager from East State

00:27:49to make the journey to Ninja Warrior,

00:27:51but he's trained with one of the best.

00:28:00I can't believe I'm the first team from Alaska

00:28:03to compete on American Ninja Warrior.

00:28:06Every year for my birthday, I would ask for lumber

00:28:09so I could build Ninja Warrior obstacles in my backyard.

00:28:12First year was a warp wall.

00:28:16Year after that, I got a lache bar.

00:28:19And then I got a salmon ladder.

00:28:24In Alaska, Ninja's all about Nick Hansen.
