00:00Don't throw out your stale bread. Do this instead. Here are three ways to give it a second life. Number
00:04one, your baguette's been sitting out on your counter for a few days. After we put all this
00:08water on here, we're going to throw in the 400 degree oven, about five minutes. A lot of that
00:11steam is going to penetrate this crust on the outside and make the inside nice and soft again.
00:16Tip number two, bread crumbs. Just going to slice this up into pieces that I can tear and throw into
00:20the food processor. This is what I would call panko stage right now. I like to go 50-50 salt
00:25and butter and olive oil. The only spice I'm normally dropping in is some black pepper. That
00:30being said, the sky's the limit. There are so many different things you can do with this. Pour it onto
00:34a sheet tray to let it cool off. Throw it into a Ziploc. You're going to have bread crumbs. Let's
00:37make
00:38some croutons. This is honestly something that I do almost every Friday at the test kitchen. Collect
00:42whatever bread is sitting around. I like a torn crouton. If you prefer a nice, perfectly square
00:48one, just cut this into whatever shape and size you want. You really want to make sure everything's
00:52getting nice and coated inside of all those little crevices. Next, I'm going to throw this on a sheet
00:56tray and put it in a 400 degree oven. I always take them out when they're still just a teeny,
01:01teeny bit of give. All that evaporates off while it sits and cools. We've given a second life to all
01:07this bread that otherwise would have ended up in the trash can.
