Fans and players may have to contend with more than just the competition this week as thunderstorms, lightning delays and extreme heat threaten World Cup matches across North America.

00:03In Miami tonight, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay could deal with showers and thunderstorms during the match.
00:08And because Hard Rock Stadium is open air, lightning could cause delays.
00:12Then Wednesday, thunderstorms are possible before, during, and after Portugal vs. DR Congo in Houston.
00:17The stadium has a roof, so the match itself should be protected, but fans heading to and from the game
00:21could still be dealing with storms and real field temperatures pushing the upper 90s.
