00:00Hi everyone, hope you're all okay. I just wanted to do a little update on my smear test results.
00:05If you don't know what I'm talking about, go and watch my previous reel on my smear test.
00:10I went for my first ever smear test. I was actually waiting for my results for about five weeks.
00:16So I spoke to the nurse and I said, I'm waiting for my results. And she was like, no worries,
00:20I'll chase them up.
00:21I got a message on my NHS app and a phone call from a doctor to say that my smear
00:26results had come back
00:28and that I was HPV positive. It's really common. A lot of women have it.
00:33If you do have a HPV positive result, you go back a year after your first smear just to like
00:39get checked over and stuff.
00:40Then it also said that I had severe high grade changes to my cells.
00:45I have to go for, it's called a colposcopy, which I think is like another smear, but like a little
00:51bit more in depth.
00:53Morning guys. I have my hospital, what? Hospital appointment today for my colposcopy.
01:03I'm a little bit nervous.
01:05Home now, my appointment lasted half an hour of that. It was basically just the same as me, but it
01:12was just for a little bit longer.
01:14They just put like fluid in my cervix just to kind of see what it brought up, I guess.
01:22I could see my cervix on the camera, which was a bit crazy. And then just took a biopsy.
01:29My results from my smear the first time came back with high grade changes.
01:34He just said that this appointment that I had today was just to check that that was like right, basically.
01:41And he said from looking at it, it does look like it is going to be high grade,
01:46which will mean that I will have to have a procedure. Obviously, I will know more when my results come
01:52back.
01:53The actual like colposcopy, it's called, was not too bad. It was a little bit uncomfortable, more uncomfortable than my
02:02smear was.
02:02But it really wasn't too bad. I just have like some cramps now, what period pains feel like, which is
02:08totally normal.
02:09The nurse just said, take some five feet more and you'll be fine.
02:12So I've had my results from my colposcopy. I had my appointment a week ago and I've already had my
02:19results back, which is great.
02:21So the consultant said that it does look like from my colposcopy that I will have to have the, I
02:27think it's called L-L-E-T-Z,
02:29which is, I think it stands for Large Loop Excision of a Transformation Zone.
02:36Anyway, my results will come back and my cells in my cervix are high grade, which means that I will
02:42have to have that done,
02:44which I think is just like, they use like a heated wire and they burn off the cells that are
02:50pre-cancerate in your cervix.
02:53So yeah, that sounds really uncomfortable. So I'm not looking forward to that.
02:57However, I do need to have it done because they are pre-cancerous cells.
03:01So if I did leave it, it would mean that they would potentially turn into cancer in like a few
03:07years.
03:08Morning, everyone. Just a little update on my procedure. I've got it today. I'm a little bit nervous.
03:16I'm sure I'll be fine. I have to have local anaesthetic, so hopefully I won't be able to feel it.
03:21I'm home now. It was fine. It just was really uncomfortable when they put the anaesthetic in.
03:26So basically what they do is they just use the speculum, I think what they use for your smear test.
03:32Put the anaesthetic in the cervix and then they use like a little loop wire and burn off the cells.
03:39Obviously they use the anaesthetic because it's using like hot wire, so I couldn't feel that.
03:44It was just really uncomfortable when they put the anaesthetic in.
03:46I just all of a sudden got really overwhelmed and started crying. I don't know why, I just felt really
03:52emotional.
03:53I think because it's been going on for ages now and I've just been like really uncertain about what's going
03:58on.
03:58Then to finally have them like removed, I've just, I don't know, it just felt like a bit of a
04:02relief.
04:02Just burst into tears and the nurse was like, you're doing amazing. Like, don't worry. It's okay.
04:08They were all so lovely. Made me feel really, really comfortable. I think I have to wait like three weeks
04:13for the results to come back.
04:14Sort of update on my LEPs procedure. I had it done three weeks ago and the reason why is because
04:23I had SYN2 cells,
04:24which basically means that they are moderate, like pre-cancerous cells, that if they are left untreated, could possibly turn
04:32into cervical cancer.
04:33I found my results through and they are basically just to confirm that the cells that were removed were SYN1
04:39and SYN2,
04:39which means that they are exactly what they thought they were.
04:42So, yeah, finally got my results. I'm feeling so much better about it now.
04:47Obviously, I know they've been removed, so that's great, but I just was waiting for my results.
04:50So, I just was still a bit apprehensive about what was going to happen.
04:54But, yeah, all fine. I now just have to go for another smear in six months' time.
05:00If this has taught me anything, I mean, I knew it was important anyway, but it is so, so, so
05:05important to go for your smear test.
05:07I know sometimes they can be uncomfortable. I was absolutely fine during mine,
05:11but I am aware that, like, everyone's different. I know that it affects people differently.
05:16But please, please, please, please go for your smear test because they genuinely could save your life.
05:24Obviously, if I hadn't have gone for my first initial smear test, I would never have known that I had
05:27the pre-cancerous cells.
05:29And now they've been removed, I feel so much better about it.
05:32Go for your smear test. Very important.
