As the World Cup continues in many of the host cities in the U.S., there are potential weather challenges ahead that could impact the competitions, including heat, severe weather and the tropics.

00:05Next week, Seattle could see a burst of heat, especially early on in the week.
00:09Meanwhile, Boston and the New York City area may have to contend with thunderstorms mid-to-late week.
00:13Lightning and heavy rain could create delays at outdoor venues like MetLife Stadium and Gillette Stadium.
00:18Then, June 28th through July 4th, the focus shifts to heat.
00:22Boston and New York could turn much hotter heading into July.
00:25Kansas City may also see a significant warm-up, creating some of the hottest match conditions of the tournament so

00:30And from July 5th through July 10th, storms could once again become a concern.
00:35Kansas City may see another round of severe weather, and Boston and the New York City area could face additional
00:39thunderstorm threats.
00:40At the same time, temperatures may swing sharply in Kansas City, while another round of heat is possible in Seattle
00:45later in the period, too.
