00:00Hello everyone, this is William Chambers. It's good to be here with you all.
00:03Good to be with people who love to hear the Word of God.
00:07Today, I want to talk about the power of planting truth every day, everywhere.
00:15Because I believe that this is a godly ambition that all believers should have.
00:20So we're going to look in the text here today.
00:23And I'm coming from an unlikely portion of scripture and just wanted to pull some principles out of it.
00:27Like, this ain't the best scripture for it, but there are principles in this text.
00:31So let's look at the text.
00:33And these words which I have commanded thee this day shall be in thine heart.
00:37And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children.
00:41And shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house.
00:44And when thou walkest by the way.
00:47And when thou liest down.
00:48And when thou risest up.
00:51This text is talking about parents sowing the Word of God in their children.
01:00And it's talking about sowing the Word diligently and repetitively into our children.
01:07Every belief that our children carry was carried by repetition.
01:14Not by logic, but by repetition.
01:17The question isn't if our children have been taught anything.
01:21The question is, what have they been taught?
01:24And how often have they been taught it?
01:26What has been planted in our children and how often?
01:29So it's telling parents to take up the role of teaching their children consistently.
01:36Unfortunately, today, this is neglected often.
01:39We're not teaching our children the Word of God like we ought to.
01:43Lord, help us.
01:45And it's sad because today children wake up with so many voices surrounding them.
01:51Voices that tell them who they are.
01:53Voices that tell them what matters in life.
01:56And voices that tell them how to see the world.
01:59And if parents are not intentionally speaking the Word of God in their children all the time,
02:07then an ungodly world that does not care about their well-being is teaching.
02:12It is teaching all the time.
02:15So this is the start in the home.
02:18Teaching is the start in the home with your children all the time.
02:23But I would like to even expand this.
02:25Because the text, if you look at the parable of the sower in Matthew 13,
02:29the sower planted seed everywhere.
02:31He planted seed on good ground by the wayside.
02:34He planted seed on thorny ground.
02:37He just planted seed everywhere.
02:40Oh, Lord, help us today.
02:42Truth must first live in the heart.
02:46The Bible says,
02:47And these words which I commend thee this day shall be in thine heart.
02:52They got to be in you.
02:53The Word tells us to let the Word richly dwell in you.
02:56You cannot teach anything effectively if it's not first dwelling deep and richly inside of you.
03:04How deeply is this Word dwelling in your heart?
03:09Oh, let us get busy believers and plant this Word deeper in our hearts.
03:13Before truth can be transmitted, it must first be internalized.
03:18Lord, I need to internalize your Word.
03:20Devour your Word until it becomes part of me.
03:23Until it becomes a Word that sticks with me.
03:26Now, this text is not telling us to teach our children out of obligation.
03:30Our children will be able to see hypocrisy.
03:33Words that are just spoken out of obligation can be ignored.
03:37But words that are spoken from the heart, because they were planted in the heart,
03:41because you were speaking from the heart,
03:43those words carry weight.
03:46And children can tell a difference.
03:48People can tell a difference as well.
03:49So, planting truth matters.
03:51What is stored inside of us internally,
03:55when it will inevitably come out on the outside externally,
03:59what's in you has a way of working its way out of you.
04:03When you put that Word in you, which is seed,
04:06the Word of God is seed planted.
04:07When you plant the Word of God in you and get it deep in you,
04:10it'll come out.
04:11People will be able to tell.
04:13Ah, let me calm down right there.
04:16Just want to talk about the power of planting truth every day,
04:19everywhere.
04:20There's power in that.
04:22What is planted daily, over and over,
04:26reshaped understanding.
04:27Meaning that planting the Word is not a one-time event.
04:31No, it's something that can be done repetitively, over and over.
04:34This text is commanding us to teach our children the Word of God diligently.
04:40It shows that understanding of the Word of God does not come instantly.
04:46It's taught over and over and over.
04:50When it seems to be ignored, teach.
04:52When it seems to be disrespected, teach.
04:54Still teach that Word again and again without resentment,
04:58with all types of patience.
05:00And eventually, those seeds sown will come to fruition.
05:04Help us today, God.
05:06By receiving the teaching of the Word of God diligently,
05:10it rewrites our inner framework.
05:13God wants to change the way we think by giving us His thoughts,
05:18taking in His understanding.
05:21And the more we consume and digest that,
05:23the more we think like Him.
05:26Help us, God.
05:26Our prayer should be, Lord, help us to rewrite our inner framework
05:30so that we're thinking like You.
05:31And the way we do that is by receiving the Word diligently.
05:34But let me try to stick with the text.
05:37Truth must travel through ordinary life.
05:40As we look in this text,
05:42it's telling them that thou shalt teach them when thou sittest down,
05:45and thou shalt talk to them when thou sittest in thine house,
05:48when thou walkest by the way,
05:49when thou liest down,
05:51and when thou risest up.
05:52All of the time it is supposed to become an ordinary part of ordinary life.
05:58The truth, when it's spoken everywhere,
06:00becomes a part of everyday life.
06:03God is telling us with our children to place truth in mundane places.
06:07When you're sitting down, when you're waking up,
06:10these are just mundane places.
06:11When you're walking around, it doesn't matter.
06:13In mundane places, place the truth.
06:15Oh my, if I'm expanding a little bit,
06:18the sower was planting truth.
06:20He was on stony ground.
06:21He was on rocky ground.
06:23Talking to his neighbors.
06:24Plant that seed.
06:25But own the job.
06:26Plant the seed if you can.
06:27Help us, God, to be planting truth every way.
06:30But let me stay with the text.
06:31God is against compartmentalizing faith.
06:35I don't want this to be just a religious experience.
06:37Where you delegate teaching to the church and to the classroom.
06:42And that's where you study with God and no other place.
06:46No, no, no, no, no, no.
06:47This should be a part of your everyday life.
06:49Help us, God, to make the word of God part of everyday life.
06:53If we want to change the world as we know it.
06:56I mean, just the people around us.
06:57We're not called to change those except those who God sent us.
07:01Then there's power in planting truth every day, everywhere.
07:08Truth should begin in the home.
07:10And then from the home, it affects all of society.
07:15Now, this wasn't the best text to come out of to teach what I'm trying to teach.
07:18But it was the way that it came out.
07:20I pray that this message is in some way beneficial unto you here and now.
07:25In Jesus' name I pray and say, Amen.
07:33Amen.
07:34Amen.
07:38Amen.
07:41Amen.
07:41Amen.
07:50Amen.
