00:00As the German army advances deep into Soviet territory, SS and police units follow the
00:06troops.
00:07The first to arrive are the Einsatzgruppen, the Nazi mobile death squads, who will conduct
00:13the mass shootings of Jews, communists, and other persons deemed to be dangerous to establishing
00:18long-term German rule on Soviet territory.
00:22Shortly after, on the 19th of September 1941, German forces enter the city of Kyiv, the capital
00:29of Ukraine, which is followed by two major explosions which destroy the German headquarters
00:35and kill a large number of German soldiers and officials.
00:40Though the explosions were caused by mines left by retreating Soviet soldiers and officials,
00:45the Germans used the sabotage as a pretext to murder those Jews who still remain in the
00:50city.
00:52Between the 29th and 30th of September 1941, just outside Kyiv, the SS, together with German
00:59police units and their auxiliaries, massacre 33,771 Jews at a ravine called Babi Yar.
01:07However, this atrocity will not remain unpunished, and the perpetrators will pay for this crime
