00:00A small number of countries and the corporations hold great influence over the models, platforms,
00:08standards that others continue to use. Some technology companies, mind you, in the United
00:17States, you hear this, have begun to speak about a civilizational mission. A small country of
00:26capitalists, owners, conglomerates wants to decide what civilisation entails, what to rationalise wars,
00:46or national destiny, or strategic rivalry, and for them to determine
00:53the future of democracy.
00:56Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has warned that the future of artificial intelligence
01:00is increasingly being shaped by a small group of countries and corporations.
01:05Speaking at the University of Tokyo today, Anwar said the systems driving the new AI era require
01:11vast amounts of data, chips, energy, cloud infrastructure, and capital, and that these
01:17resources are not distributed evenly or fairly.
01:21They build systems for armed forces, intelligence agencies, and their platforms increasing help
01:30states see patterns, short risks, and make decisions under intense pressure.
01:39This should certainly give us pause.
01:42Anwar said public institutions must remain accountable,
01:45as AI becomes more embedded in government, work, and everyday life.
01:50The word before us is clear. We want to build systems that serve human beings to enrich our humanity,
01:58not debasity.
