00:00Bersatu Information Chief Tun Faizal Ismail Aziz has claimed that PAS leaders aligned with former Bersatu Deputy President Hamzah Zainuddin
00:09strongly pushed for the party to sever ties with Bersatu.
00:13In a Facebook post, Tun Faizal said differing views within PAS between the ulama' faction linked to the Shura Council
00:20and a technocratic group tied to Hamzah contributed to the split.
00:24He alleged that some leaders saw Bersatu as an obstacle to their political plans,
00:30pointed to PAS links with the Bangkok move and Mofakat Nasional's revival.
00:36Tun Faizal said the ulama' faction preferred continued cooperation,
00:40viewing it as the lesser harm compared to fragmentation that could benefit Pakatan Harapan and DAP.
00:48He added that PAS's Shura Council may have delegated the decision to the Central Committee
00:53to avoid direct responsibility.
00:56Last night, PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang announced that the party had cut ties for Bersatu
01:02and would form a new pact to face upcoming state and general elections.
01:07This followed weeks of reassessment,
01:10with Hadi citing strained ties over the Police Menteri Besar's ouster,
01:15alleged interference in Kedah and Kelantan appointments,
01:18and Bersatu's opposition to admitting new Malay Muslim parties into Perikatan Nasional.
