00:40And if that rope leads to where I think it does, it might be the first real clue we have

00:47Now, if I wanted to go back to the cave and follow this rope, I would need a really good
00:52RC submarine and a lot of practice driving it.

01:10So this time, I balled out and rented a $10,000 RC submarine with a robotic arm.
01:16Because if I found something down there, I didn't want to just see it.

01:20I wanted to bring back proof.
01:22But before I could just send it back into the cave, I was still going to have to learn how
01:26to drive it.
01:27And this would turn out to be way harder than I expected.
01:32The last 24 hours have been absolutely horrible.

01:36Um, the submarine got delivered this morning.

01:44It took me about three hours to just figure out how to get the thing to turn on.

02:19Luckily, though, I have a three-step plan.
02:22Day one, I gotta just learn how to drive it.
02:25I gotta figure out how to go up and down, left and right.
02:27I need a master driving the submarine.
02:29Day two, I gotta learn how to use the robotic arm the submarine came with.
02:34I'm gonna get so good at using this thing, I can pick up a grain of rice.
02:38And day three, I'm taking the submarine back to the cave.

02:48With only two days until I went back to the cave,
02:51I headed out to a lake to practice driving with the upgraded submarine.
02:54All right, I think we're good to go.

02:58It was time to see what this submarine could actually do.
03:01Like A, maybe A is altitude, like it's only up and down.
03:04S is sport mode, so you will access all six degrees of freedom of the ROV.
03:08With the RC submarine in the water, I wanted to try and make it to the middle of the lake.
03:12And I quickly realized that this was gonna be way harder than I thought.
03:16The visibility in the lake was actually horrible.
03:18And after just five minutes of driving the sub, it just shut down.

03:23Yeah, it's like a RC submarine.
03:26I thought it was a pretty aggressive fish.
03:29Man, dude, this is freaking stressful.
03:31This first test run had been an absolute failure.
03:34The submarine was already not working and I had no idea why.
03:37That was until I got home and realized that there was fishing lines stuck in the thrusters.
03:42Turns out the lake we went to was one of the biggest fishing lakes in Arizona.
03:45And there was a ton of fishing line left behind in the water.
03:48Now, luckily, I was able to get all the fishing line out from the thrusters.
03:51But at that point, I knew I was gonna need a better place to practice.
03:55So I went to my friend's pool.
03:57Now, for the next two days, this pool is gonna be the ultimate training grounds for me and the submarine.
04:01And what you're about to watch is 10 hours of training condensed down into a 60-second montage.
04:07Night one was all about practicing my movements.
04:10I went through my buddy's legs, I practiced reversing, and I even got good at jumping out of the pool.
04:15By the end of night one, I was feeling really good.
04:17But I needed to be perfect.
04:19Because when I took the submarine down into the cave, there would be no room for air.
04:24So I kept on practicing.
04:29The goal for day two was to learn how to use the robotic arm.
04:32And I only had 24 hours to learn how to use it.
04:35Luckily, attaching the robotic arm to the submarine was pretty easy.
04:38So I got it set up and then threw the submarine into the water to start practicing.
04:53Okay, if there actually is some sort of gold or treasure or just anything cool that I want to pick
05:00up down in the cave,
05:01I'm gonna need to get good at using this.
05:03This freaking, this clamp thing is hard to use.
05:06Last night, I had actually decided to set up the robotic arm, and I tried to pick up a red
05:11water bottle,
05:11which was a pretty big thing to pick up, and I could not get it.
05:15I tried for like 20 minutes, and I just could not get it to save my life.
05:19It was actually like the most frustrating thing ever.
05:22So anyways, here's the plan.
05:24Using two Lego guys, a Lego boat, and three chests of Lego treasure, I loaded it up and sent them
05:29into the pool.
05:30The chests were pretty small, so I figured if I could pick one up with the arm and bring it
05:34back, I'd be ready.
05:35But first, I had to sink the boat.
06:13Oh, no, no, God damn.
06:16But right when everything seemed to be going all right, that chest I dropped got sucked into the turbine.
06:23This was bad.
06:27I don't even know how to say this.
06:28There is a Lego chest inside of the left turbine.

06:37I think if I can get it out, I might be able to get the chest out.

06:58Luckily, I was able to fix up the submarine, but it was now time for the final mission.
07:14We are about 25 minutes out from Peppersauce Cave, and our mission today has three parts.
07:21Phase one.
07:22Find the cave entrance and make it down to the water.
07:25Phase two.
07:25Once we're at the water, inflate the boat and prepare the RC submarine.
07:29Phase three.
07:30The most important part of the mission.
07:33Send the RC submarine down into the pool, follow the rope, and hopefully, if we're lucky,
07:38find an abandoned gold mine.
07:40So much can go wrong.
07:42It's not even funny.
07:43But I think what I'm most scared of is I lose the submarine down in the pool, and I'm out
07:50$10,000.
07:51How confident do you feel about driving that submarine down there?

08:23I realized pretty quick the black box the submarine came in was too big to fit through

08:28So we were going to have to take the submarine out, transfer it into smaller bags, and could
08:32only bring the essentials.
08:33We basically just need the sub, the batteries, the controller, and the tether.
08:38I think we can fit that all into a backpack, and we just got to be really careful with it.
08:42Now, 50 years ago, a kid had actually gone missing in this area, and to this day has never

08:47So the last thing I wanted was to run into someone way out here.

08:51But right as I finished packing up the gear, I saw something.
