01:43Hello, I'm Miss Hulia. What's your name?
01:49Oh, yes, of course.
01:51So, what's the story in Bala Mori?
01:55Well, today in Bala Mori, it's a sunny day.
02:03And everyone here in Bala Mori is busy going to work and school.
02:11So, I wonder what adventures we'll get up to today.
02:16Oh, how did you get in there?
02:19Have you seen one of these before?
02:22It's a tortoise.
02:23They have hard shells on their backs and they move very, very slowly.
02:29So would you if you had to carry a hard shell around on your back all day.
02:33PC Plum used to have a tortoise like this one called Banjo.
02:37It used to bring him over to the nursery so the children could play with him.
02:41He loved to tell us stories of Banjo's adventures in the garden.
02:46Talking of stories,
02:47Susie Sweet is coming to the nursery later to tell the children a story.
02:52They'll enjoy that.
02:54Ah, there's the school bus.
02:57I wonder who'll be coming to the Bala Mori nursery today.
03:01There's Zekira.
03:02Hello, Matthew.
03:11Everybody, everyone, come inside and join the fun.
03:17Painting, splodging, splashing, dancing, robbing, building.
03:23Make your favourite thing.
03:25Everybody, everyone, come inside and join the fun.
03:35Did you hear that at home?
03:40I think we've got a visitor coming to the nursery.
03:42I'll go and see who it is.
03:46Hello, Susie.
03:47Hello.
03:49Have you time for a cup of tea?
03:51Not today, thanks, Miss Hooray.
03:53I'm busy, busy, busy.
03:54I've got so many things to do.
03:57And at the moment, you're top of my list.
03:59Really?
04:00Well, what can I do for you?
04:04Now, let's see.
04:07Ask Miss Hooray.
04:08Oh, yes.
04:09Which story would you like me to read the children this afternoon?
04:14You could tell them one about the tortoise and the hare.
04:18Now, that's a great story.
04:19The tortoise and the hare, of course.
04:23Well, if that's the story that you think the children would like to hear, that's the one
04:27I'll read.
04:28So, if you give me the storybook, I'll be on my way.
04:31I'm busy, busy, busy, you know.
04:33I've got jelly beans to sort out and, oh, I've got a hole in my pocket to mend.
04:38Okay.
04:39Um, now, where did I put it?
04:42The tortoise and the hare.
04:45Oh, I remember now.
04:48I've lent it to Archie.
04:50To Archie?
04:51Yes.
04:52He wanted to read it to his nephew.
04:53Archie'll have it.
04:55But I haven't got time to collect the book from Archie.
04:58Oh.
04:59Well, maybe Penny could go and collect it for you.
05:02What a good idea, Miss Hooray.
05:05I'm sure Penny wouldn't mind collecting it from Archie.
05:07Right.
05:08Well, I haven't got time for chatting here.
05:11I'd better get back to the shop.
05:13I'm busy, busy, busy.
05:15I know Susie.
05:16Bye, Susie.
05:17Bye.
05:19So, which coloured house do you think Susie will visit first today?
05:25Can you see all the different coloured houses sitting by the sea?
05:30Well, this part of the story, in Balamori, asks which is the house for me.
05:37Is it orange?
05:39Is it blue?
05:40Which coloured house are we going to?
05:43Green, red, white, yellow or pink?
05:46Tell me, what do you think?
05:48Yellow house, blue house, green, red or pink?
05:54White house, orange house.
05:57Tell me, what do you think?
06:05Which coloured house are we going to?
06:08Tell me, what do you think?
06:11Which coloured house are we going to?
06:14Tell me, what do you think?
06:17It's the red house.
06:19It's the red house, because that's where I live.
06:29Hi, Susie.
06:30No time to chat, Penny.
06:32I'm busy, busy, busy.
06:33And I'm bored, bored, bored.
06:36I think you're the first person to come through that door in the morning.
06:39Well, if you fancy doing something, would you do me a wee favour?
06:43Oh, sure, what is it?
06:44Would you collect a storybook from Archie's and take it to the nursery?
06:48I'm going to read the children a story this afternoon.
06:51Oh, what's the book called?
06:52The Tortoise and the Hare.
06:54Oh, Kate, no problem.
06:55I'll see you later.
06:56Oh, and thanks.
06:59Now, what's next on my list?
07:01Oh, yes.
07:03Mending a Hole in My Pocket.
07:05And, of course, the jelly beans.
07:08I'm going to have to sort them out in their colours.
07:11People might complain if there's not enough red.
07:16Now, here we are.
07:21Now, yellow.
07:30Anyone home?
07:31Oh, yes, come in.
07:34Hi, Archie.
07:35So, Penny, what can I do for you?
07:37I've come to pick up a book for Susie.
07:39Ah, well, you've come to the right place.
07:40You've got plenty here.
07:41Uh, the Inventor's Handbook.
07:46Ah, A-Z of Robots.
07:50Have you got the Tortoise and the Hare, the book Miss Hooley lent you?
07:53Oh, yes.
07:55It's a delightful story.
07:57Do you know it?
07:58Not really.
08:00It's all about a race between a tortoise and a hare.
08:04A hare?
08:05Like a big rabbit.
08:07Like a big rabbit.
08:08This hare was very boastful, and he reckoned that he was the fastest runner in the whole
08:12wood.
08:13So what happens?
08:14Well, the slow tortoise, he challenges the hare to a race right round the farm to the farm
08:21gate.
08:22Does the hare win?
08:23Well, the hare sets off very, very fast.
08:26That's fast.
08:28And the slow tortoise just plods along slowly in its own quiet way.
08:32That slow tortoise will never catch the speedy hare now.
08:36But wait, the hare is so far ahead that just before he gets to the gate, he stops and has
08:43a snooze in the afternoon sun.
08:45So what happens next?
08:47Well, the tortoise starts to...
08:49Oh, is that the time?
08:51I should have met Susie at the nursery ages ago.
08:54Oh.
08:55Oh, but it was a great story.
08:57I'll have to hear the rest of it from Susie.
08:59Thanks, Archie.
09:01Bye.
09:01Bye-bye.
09:06Do you want to help me, Miss Hoelie?
09:07I do.
09:08Is that all right to help?
09:09Yes.
09:09I'll flatten that down.
09:15I wonder what Penny's doing here.
09:22Hiya.
09:24Hello, Penny.
09:25Hello, Miss Hoelie.
09:26Hello, Amber.
09:27Hiya, Ryan.
09:28Hello, Penny.
09:30I was just looking for Susie.
09:32Have you seen her?
09:33Well, I'm getting a bit worried about her, too.
09:36She's meant to be coming to the nursery to read the children her story.
09:39Yes, she told me to meet her here with her storybook.
09:42Oh, dear.
09:43That's a bit odd.
09:44I wonder where she can be.
09:46Who could help us find her?
09:51Of course.
09:52P.C. Plum.
09:54I'm P.C. Plum and I tell you what I've done.
09:57I've pedaled round this island more than once or twice.
10:02And if you call on me, we can make a cup of tea.
10:06I'll tell you all about the bees and birds and mice.
10:14I'm P.C. Plum and I tell you who I am.
10:17I'm your policeman and I'll always be your chum.
10:22With my magnifying glass, I can look between the grass.
10:26And all the tiny beasties, we look at them run.
10:31You can bet you'll see me a-comin'

11:26P.C. Plum
11:37Oh, hello, Penny.
11:39Isn't it a lovely day?
11:40Hello, Plum
11:41So, what's the story in Balamori?
11:44Well, you see,
11:45Susie was supposed to read a story to the children at the nursery today.
11:50But she was too busy to go and collect the book from Archie's.
11:53So I went instead.
11:55Archie found the book about the tortoise and the hare
11:58and told me the story.
12:01When I arrived at the nursery, Susie wasn't there.
12:06So I need your help to find her?
12:08Of course.
12:10Now, um, oh, look.
12:12And the last time you saw Susie was when?
12:15This morning, at the shop.
12:16At the shop, right.
12:19So that's the first place we should look.
12:22Come on.
12:24To the shop.
12:30Here we go, Penny.
12:33Susie?
12:34Are you here?
12:36It doesn't look like it, does it?
12:38Where else could she be?
12:40If only we could have a few clues, then I might be able to help.
12:44Now, you said that she was very busy this morning.
12:46Yes, that's right.
12:47She had a long list of things to do.
12:49Oh, what kind of things?
12:50Well, she had to fix a hole in her pocket, sort the sweets,
12:57bake some cakes for the cafe.
12:58Wait a minute.
13:00Did you say sweets?
13:02Yes.
13:04Jelly bean type of sweets.
13:05That's it.
13:06Jelly beans.
13:07Hmm.
13:08I think we might be on the trail.
13:10Of what?
13:12Susie?
13:12Could be.
13:14Now, I wonder where these lead to.
13:19Oh, come on.
13:25Still excited.
13:32Look at all these jelly beans.
13:35And there's another.
13:37Penny, look.
13:42The plot thickens.
13:44Come on.
13:52He has another.
13:55And another.
13:57And another.
14:01And here's...
14:03Susie!
14:04What?
14:04Who?
14:05Where?
14:05Where am I?
14:07You're in the nursery garden.
14:09In the nursery garden?
14:10I must have fallen asleep.
14:12You must have been very tired to fall asleep out here, Susie.
14:15Oh, I was.
14:16I was busy, busy, busy, but I got all my jobs done early.
14:20You didn't quite get all your jobs done.
14:22Didn't I?
14:26No.
14:27You forgot to mend the hole in your pocket.
14:30Oh.
14:31Oh, look.
14:34Oh, dear.
14:35All my sweets have gone.
14:37I'll have no treats for the children.
14:39Oh, I'm sure reading them a story will be a big enough treat.
14:42Oh, I hope so.
14:44Come on.
14:44Yes.
14:47OK, everyone.
14:49OK, everyone.
14:49Now, we've got a special treat today because Susie Sweet has come here to read you a story.
14:55OK, everyone.
14:57OK, everyone.
14:57So, over to Susie.
14:59Now, this story is called The Tortoise and the Hare.
15:05This is the story of a very slow tortoise and a very quick hare.
15:12And they had a race.
15:14The hare was a very boastful hare and he thought the idea of racing against the slow tortoise
15:22was very funny.
15:24But he agreed to do it.
15:26At the start of the race, the hare zoomed ahead like a rocket.
15:35That's fast.
15:36Meanwhile, the tortoise just plodded along in his usual slow way.
15:45That tortoise will never catch up with me now.
15:49The hare, by this time, was feeling pretty tired after all his rushing around.
15:55And he was so far ahead of the tortoise that he decided to stop a wee bit away from the
16:03gate
16:03and have a wee snooze.
16:06Now, as the hare was sleeping, the tortoise slowly and quietly got closer and closer
16:17until he actually crawled ever so slowly past the sleeping hare.
16:25So long, Mr. Hare, shouted the tortoise
16:30as he reached the farm gate to the cheers of all the animals.
16:36You're all the animals.
16:37Yay!
16:39The cheering woke the hare.
16:42And he was amazed to see that the tortoise had won.
16:49Well, it just goes to show that the fastest racer
16:54doesn't always win the race.
16:58Hooray!
17:00Yay!
17:06So, what was the story in Bala Mori today?
17:13Well...
17:18Susie was supposed to come to the nursery to read the children a story,
17:21but she was having a very busy day.
17:25So she asked Penny to collect the storybook from Archie's.
17:30But when Penny arrived at the nursery, Susie wasn't there.
17:35So Penny called on PC Plum to help find Susie.
17:40He spotted a trail of jelly beans, which led to Susie.
17:43She was fast asleep in the nursery school garden.
17:48Susie then told us the story of the slow tortoise and the speedy hare.
17:56So, that was the story in Bala Mori.
18:04I'll see you next time.
18:06Bye!
18:16Bala Mori, Bala Mori.
