04:12Go and see who it can be
04:17Hi, Susie
04:19Hello, Miss Hooley
04:20Hi
04:22Hello
04:23We brought over the children's juice, Miss Hooley
04:26Oh, thanks, that's great, Susie
04:28Hiya, Penny
04:29Oh, hello, Miss Hooley
04:31Hi, everyone
04:32Hiya
04:39Thanks for that, Susie
04:42Are you all right, Penny?
04:44I'm fine, thanks, Miss Hooley
04:45I'm just a bit tired
04:47Penny never got a wink of sleep last night
04:49Because of the thunder
04:50Oh, it was really loud, wasn't it?
04:52Some of the children were frightened too
04:55Loud and scary
04:56And the weather forecast said there are more thunderstorms on the way
05:00Well, I told her just to sing loudly so that she wouldn't hear the bangs
05:03I tried that, but my singing kept you awake
05:07I did, didn't it?
05:09That didn't work
05:11I suppose you're just going to have to have another sleepless night tonight if it thunders again
05:16I know
05:17I wish I was brave
05:19If I was brave, I wouldn't be afraid of the thunder
05:22Well, there's nothing wrong with feeling afraid
05:25But I don't like feeling afraid
05:27You know, I get all jumpy when I hear loud bangs
05:30Well, why don't you learn to be brave?
05:34Then you wouldn't feel afraid
05:36Learn how to be brave?
05:38Yes
05:39Who is the bravest person in Balamori?
05:44PC Plum
05:47Why don't you go and visit PC Plum
05:49And see if he can teach you to be brave
05:51Instead of being afraid every time you hear the thunder
05:55OK
05:56I guess it's worth a try
05:58Right then
05:59I'll go back to the shop
06:01And you go and visit PC Plum
06:03Right then, I'm off to see you plummy
06:05Thanks Miss Hurley
06:07Bye
06:07You're welcome
06:08Bye Miss Hurley
06:09Bye
06:12So, which coloured house do you think Penny will visit first today?
06:20Can you see all the different coloured houses sitting by the sea?
06:25Well, it's part of the story in Balamori
06:29Yes, which is the house for me?
06:32Is it orange?
06:33Is it red?
06:34Or should we go to the blue house instead?
06:37Yellow, green, white or pink?
06:40Tell me, what do you think?
06:43Orange house
06:44Yellow, red
06:45Blue house or pink?
06:49Green house
06:50White house
06:51Tell me, what do you think?
07:00Which coloured house are we going to?
07:03Tell me, what do you think?
07:06Which coloured house are we going to?
07:09Tell me, what do you think?
07:12It's the white house
07:16Yes, it's the white house because that's where PC Plum lives
07:23There
07:24All ready to look out for clues
07:27Oops
07:30Hello
07:33Plummy
07:38Hello Penny
07:39I didn't see you there
07:41You gave me a bit of a fright
07:42A fright?
07:43You?
07:44And here's me thinking you're the bravest person in town
07:47Brave?
07:49Me?
07:49So Miss Hooley told me
07:52I was hoping you could teach me how to be brave
07:54Oh, I am
07:56Oh, and I could
07:56Now, where do I begin?
07:59Well, you could tell me about some of the brave things you've done
08:02Oh, yes
08:04Well, um
08:04Oh, the other day I noticed I had a hole in my shoe
08:07And it was raining outside
08:09But I still bravely went out on patrol
08:11Even though I knew I was going to get my sock wet
08:13I see
08:14That was quite brave, I suppose
08:17Oh, and the time that I found a spider in the bath
08:20Spider?
08:21What did you do?
08:23Well, I found a glass and I trapped it underneath
08:26Then what?
08:27Oh, then I covered the bottom of it with a piece of paper
08:29And I took the spider safely outside
08:31Oh, and then there was a time I rescued a cat called Oscar
08:35Really? How?
08:36Well, he was trapped up the top of the tree
08:38So I borrowed Spencer's ladder
08:40And I climbed to the top to rescue him
08:42I bet he was pleased to see you
08:44And I'm not so sure
08:45By the time I got to the top of the tree
08:47He had jumped down by himself
08:48Oh, I'm silly
08:50Oh, well, it was still brave of you to climb up the ladder, I suppose
08:53Oh, yes
08:54There's not much I'm frightened of
08:57Oh!
08:58Oh!
08:59Oh!
08:59Apart from the thunder
09:01Oh!
09:02Oh!
09:04Look at us
09:04Silly
09:05Being frightened of something we can't even see
09:07I know
09:08I'm not even sure what thunder is
09:10If only we knew what thunder was
09:12Maybe we wouldn't be frightened of it
09:13But who could tell us what thunder is?
09:17I don't know
09:19We need to find somebody who knows everything about everything
09:24Hmm
09:26Of course!
09:27We could call on Archie
09:32I'm Archie, the inventor
09:34I know how things are done
09:37I can make absolutely anything
09:40Inventing things is fun
09:42I'm always on the lookout
09:45For things that I might use
09:48Collecting odds and ends from all of my friends
09:50To make a little tweet for you
09:58Take a box
09:59And some yoghurt pop tops
10:01Hey!
10:02It's a car
10:04Inventing with Archie is never a bore
10:06Come on, let's make some more
10:09Build a rocket
10:10Or build a rocket
10:11From a squidgy bottle
10:11And stick on bits of junk
10:14Here's a crazy clip-cloth puppet
10:17Dancing to the honky-tonk
10:19Dancing to the honky-tonk
10:25I'm Archie, the inventor
10:28I know how things are done
10:30I can make absolutely anything
10:33Inventing things is fun
10:36I'm always on the lookout
10:38For things that I might use
10:41Collecting odds and ends from all of my friends
10:44To make a little tweet for you
10:46If you need something made and don't know what to do
10:49Then Archie is the one for you
10:52Call Archie and I'll help you through
10:54Call Archie and I'll help you through
11:02Hello Archie
11:04Plumbers and Penny
11:06Plumbers and Penny
11:06What a nice surprise
11:09Pleasure
11:10So
11:12What's the story in Bellamory?
11:15Well, you see
11:16This morning
11:17Susie and I delivered juice to the nursery
11:21I told Miss Hooley how the thunder last night really frightened me
11:27I went to visit PC Plum to learn how to be brave
11:30He told me all about the brave things he's done
11:34Until the thunder started again
11:39Then we were both scared
11:41Ah, so you're both frightened of thunder
11:45So we need to know everything about thunderstorms
11:48Then maybe we won't be frightened of the thunder anymore
11:51So you want me to tell you all about thunder?
11:53Well, that shouldn't be too difficult
11:55Right, well it starts off, you see
11:57You've got lots of clouds floating around in the sky
11:59Full of raindrops
12:01Actually, I've got some clouds somewhere
12:04Have we gone in?
12:05You have?
12:06Oh, no, not real clouds
12:07Cardboard clouds
12:11Right, so
12:16You hold these
12:17Certainly
12:19We have the clouds
12:22Floating about in the sky, you see
12:24In the fill of millions and millions of little drops of water
12:26And the drops of water go whizzing, whizzing round, you see
12:29And sometimes they make a big spark
12:31Like this
12:36Lightning
12:37Oh, yes
12:39I've seen lightning
12:40It lights up the whole sky
12:42Exactly
12:43And you see
12:43The flash makes the clouds warm up so much
12:46That they just go
12:48Pop
12:49Pop?
12:50Yeah
12:51Pop
12:51You know, like a big paper bag
12:53Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop
12:57And that's what we call thunder
12:59So the clouds are like big popping popcorns popping around the sky?
13:05Yeah, I suppose they are
13:06Pop, pop, popping around like popcorn
13:09Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop
13:11Oh, I won't be frightened of the thunder anymore
13:14Not when I think it's just like popcorn popping around the sky
13:18Pop, pop, pop goes the thunder
13:20Pop, pop, pop goes the popcorn
13:21I think I'll go and tell the children all about this
13:24Then maybe they won't be frightened of the thunder anymore either
13:28Thanks, Archie
13:29Bye
13:29Thanks, Archie
13:31Pop, pop
13:35OK, everyone, now we've got two visitors here today
13:45Perry Pocket and Susie Sweet
13:49And they've come along to tell us something very important, OK?
13:53So, over to Penny and Susie
13:55I'm going to tell you all about the thunder and the lightning
13:57So we have all the rain clouds blowing along in the sky
14:02Inside are millions of water drops whizzing around
14:06And sometimes they make a gigantic spark
14:09A bit like a firework
14:11And that's what we call lightning
14:15And the lightning lights up the sky
14:19And the flashes make the clouds so hot
14:22They go pop, pop, pop, pop
14:26Can you do that?
14:27pop pop pop pop pop pop like a big bowl of popping popcorn the pop echoes around the sky pop
14:37pop pop
14:40well i don't think we'll be frightened of the thunder any more will we because if we are we'll
14:46just remember it as popping popcorn you come stand there and you'll just see these little
14:56Now, can you imagine that these little things are clouds?
15:03And you've got to listen very carefully because they'll get hot enough to pop.
15:19Now listen, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.
15:36Now, let's see what they've turned into. Lovely, white, fluffy clouds.
15:46Don't come too near. Is that lovely?
15:49Here it comes.
15:53Yummy.
15:56You're welcome.
16:00Maybe we could now sing a song about thunderstorms to you.
16:03OK, you ready? What are you getting?
16:07I hear thunder, I hear thunder.
16:11Heart don't you, heart don't you.
16:15Peter Packer rain jobs, Peter Packer rain jobs.
16:19I went through, so are you.
16:22I see blue skies, I see blue skies.
16:26We are high, we are high.
16:30Hurry up the sunshine, hurry up the sunshine.
16:34We'll soon drive, we'll soon drive.
16:38Yay!
16:38That was great.
16:47So, what was the story today in Balamori?
16:54Penny and Susie dropped off the juice, and Penny told us how she was scared of the thunder last night.
17:01She went to see PC Plum to find out how to be brave, but then they both got frightened when
17:06the thunder came back.
17:09She went to Archie to explain what thunder was, so that Penny didn't feel frightened anymore.
17:15She came to the nursery to tell us to think of thunder as popping popcorn echoing around the sky.
17:22We sang, I hear thunder, and we all ate popcorn.
17:30So now Penny and PC Plum don't mind the thunder, and some of the children don't mind it either.
17:35But I must admit, sometimes I get a little bit frightened of thunder too.
17:49So, that was the story in Balamori.
17:53Bye!
17:54Bye!
18:29Bye!
18:31Bye!
18:37Bye!
18:39Bye!
18:39Bye!
18:40Bye!
18:40Bye!
18:41Bye!
18:43Bye!
18:44Bye!
18:46Bye!
18:46Bye!
18:48Bye!
