00:00Even if tensions calm down, say, tomorrow, countries have learned one major lesson.
00:05The world relies far too much on one tiny choke point.
00:09The Strait of Ramus, nearly 20 million barrels of oil pass through it every day.
00:13That's around 20% of global supply.
00:16So, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and others are building routes around it.
00:21Saudi's east-west pipeline can move 7 million barrels a day to the Red Sea.
00:25The UAE's Fujairah pipeline bypasses or moves entirely.
00:28Moving up to 1.8 million barrels per day.
00:33Iraq is trying to push exports north through Turkey.
00:36So, yes, the Gulf has backup routes.
00:38But none that can fully replace or move, at least for now.
00:42Which is why the region is now planning much bigger alternative routes.
00:46New pipelines, Red Sea ports, India-Europe trade corridors, and possible Mediterranean routes through Israel or Egypt.
00:54The goal? Never let one narrow waterway hold the global economy hostage again.
