15:29As a little kid, I used to take my dad's dress socks and cut them up and sew gowns for
15:33my sister's Barbies.

15:40And talking about family, I remember that when you were on this competition before, you had experienced some bad news.
15:48My dad, he had been battling cancer for about five years, and he had been in remission and he was
15:55fine.
15:55But while I was here during filming, went into the hospital, and two days before the cast for season nine
16:02got announced, he passed away.
16:04And it was really tough.
16:15Because my dream for RuPaul's Drag Race was wrapped in the idea of him getting to watch and see me
16:25because I know he would have been proud.
16:28And for me, the imagery of having this Christian military black father sitting in that audience rooting for a son
16:38was all I had ever wanted.
16:42When I felt like I was coming to terms with that, a month later to the day, my oldest sister
16:47passed away from breast cancer.
16:49And she was the one that showed me supermodel of the world, her and I used to strut around that
16:56living room.
16:56Your show sister.
16:57And she encouraged me to be the person that I am today, and I felt really lost because I felt
17:06like my two biggest cheerleaders were now gone.
17:10Though I miss them both every single day, I feel them with me.
17:18My dad is half of who I am.
17:20I carry him with me everywhere I go, and I know that he's proud.

18:08I was very lucky.
18:10I got to live with my aunt.
18:11My two sisters were put into foster homes.

18:15And how long were they in there?
18:16We disconnected for about five years and then got back together.
18:20So how have you created family in your adult life?
18:23I've had to let go of a lot of the people in my past because it wasn't healthy for me.
18:27So most of my friends now are my friends that I meet at my meetings because we share the same
18:33spirituality.
18:33We're all broken inside.
18:35Oh, yeah.
18:35But we're working on becoming better human beings.
18:38A couple years ago, I made some decisions that would affect my life.
18:42I broke up with my fiancé of 12 years, and I also made a conscious decision to stop using drugs
18:48and drinking.
18:49And that has been very impactful for me, not only as a human being, but as a drag queen.
18:55I'm not completely found, but I'm not as lost as I used to be, if that makes any sense to

19:07And you stick with those friends in those places that you and I both know about.
