00:04With the World Cup kick-off barely a week away, Uganda's Ghetto Kids dance troupe is getting ready to take
00:11the stage.
00:16The young performers have been invited to join Colombian superstar Shakira for a show during the tournament's final match in
00:25the United States.
00:26It started when we did a video for Zootopia, that sound of the song Shakira did, and then from there
00:34we got contacted with the Shakira team, so we got to know them, and then after when this song came
00:40up, we danced to the World Cup song, and Shakira reacted on her story that, guys, would you want to
00:52dance with me at the FIFA World Cup halftime show?
00:55Of course, we said, yes, we did another video reacting on it, and this is how it happened.
01:06The Ghetto Kids NGO started in the Ugandan capital Kampala. It uses dance and performing arts to help abandoned and
01:16orphaned children.
01:17The troupe already had an international following after their energetic video clips filmed on the streets of Kampala became viral
01:26hits.
01:28We feel so excited. We can't wait to perform with Shakira, and we can't wait to show the award that
01:35we are.
01:35It always feels good, but this one is different, because getting outside the country or inside the country and performing
01:42on one of the biggest stages, it always feels good, whereby we have been seen by many people who are
01:50watching on that stage where we perform.
01:52And then we get to know a lot of people, and we get to be known in that particular area
01:58where we are performing. It always feels good, and it brings a lot of opportunities.
02:03But the World Cup is another level of fame, with more than a billion people worldwide expected to watch.
02:11The troupe is hoping the attention can help them raise funds for a rehabilitation and education centre.
