The Tom Green Farm - Season 1 Episode 2 - Priyanka Goes Country
Transcript
00:07Welcome to the Tom Green Farm, a place where the quiet of the countryside blends with all
00:13the noise of real life. Animals, friends, neighbors, and the occasional celebrity who
00:19wanders into the wilderness of my daily routine. Today we've got a full house. Priyanka is here,
00:25Canada's drag superstar, performer, icon, and just an incredible presence to have on
00:31the property. And Michael Cera drops by. Thoughtful, funny, and grounded in that very
00:38Michael Cera way. Taking a seat at one of the picnic tables outside we have a great
00:42conversation. And towards the end of the episode, my yearling foal. The baby horse, Aria. She comes
00:51home after six months of weaning at my friend Amy Himmelman's farm. So come along for the
00:56ride. We'll wander through the kitchen, the barn, the pond, and the pasture, and take things
01:02as they come. Welcome to the Tom Green Farm.
01:10This is the Tom Green Farm. It's not the Green Tom Farm. This is my favorite farm. Because it is
01:19my farm.
01:20If this was your farm, you'd probably like it more than I did. That's just because it was your farm.
01:28But
01:28it's not your farm. It's the Tom Green Farm. It's the Tom Green Farm.
01:46Come here. Good girl. Okay, go. Come on. Let's go. Good girl.
01:55Come. Come. Come with me. I've been up since five o'clock in the morning. Because I'm a farmer now.
02:14And I went out and fed the herd, feeding them their vitamins, their morning vitamins.
02:20It's a hot day today.
02:36It's going to be amazing. It's fun, Charlie. We're going to do a show.
02:39It's going to be the first ever solar-powered podcast studio in a barn.
02:44Is Charlie going to be like Ed McMahon?
02:46Yeah, Ed McMahon.
02:47Ed McMahon.
02:48Yeah, him too.
02:50He's smart ass.
02:52So we're going to put like the table here.
02:56Yeah.
02:57And some chairs. And then I'm going to put the microphones. And our celebrity guests are going to come.
03:01Okay.
03:02From all around the world. And it's going to be amazing. I have a solar-powered system here.
03:09Oh, right. Yeah.
03:11We've got solar panels on the outside. And it's going to be the very first solar-powered podcast studio in
03:16a barn in history of broadcasting.
03:18Another first.
03:20We've got celebrities coming from around the world.
03:22Wow.
03:23I'm trying to get Tony Danza. You know, remember Tony Danza, of course?
03:27From Full House, right.
03:28Was it?
03:29No.
03:29Who's the boss?
03:30Oh.
03:31Tony Danza was the boss.
03:34Like when you say, who's the boss?
03:36Tony Danza.
03:37Tony Danza.
03:38Tony Danza. Remember?
03:39Yeah.
03:41From Who's the Boss? Remember the show, Who's the Boss?
03:43You have to talk louder. Your dad can't hear you.
03:46Tony Danza.
03:47I heard you. Tony Danza.
03:49Tony Danza from Who's the Boss. We're trying to get him up here.
03:51I can't hear you, but I can't remember either.
03:52We're trying to get Tony Danza up here.
03:54I heard that.
03:56Jeez.
03:56It's going to be good.
03:57But anyways, it's exciting.
03:59Okay.
04:04Let's ride.
04:06Oh, and...
04:07We almost just killed the chicken.
04:08Almost killed the chicken.
04:09Almost killed the chick.
04:10Are there any bears?
04:11There's bears here, yeah.
04:12Like on your property?
04:13Lots of bears, yeah. Lots of bears.
04:15Yeah, they will...
04:16Did you know in the gay community a bear is a thing?
04:18I did know that. I did know that.
04:19Of course you do.
04:22Wow.
04:23Those are the guinea hens.
04:24They eat the ticks.
04:24Yeah, this is the pond that we stocked with trout.
04:28Which we'll feed the trout after lunch.
04:31Big burly men are bears in the gay community.
04:33I see, okay.
04:34Daddies.
04:35You're a daddy.
04:36What's a daddy compared to a bear?
04:38Older gentleman.
04:39Okay.
04:39In his 50s.
04:40Okay.
04:41Money.
04:42Rich.
04:43Okay.
04:48This is so magical.
04:50Here's another field.
04:51There's like seven fields like this.
04:53Jeez.
04:54Now what about pronouns?
04:56You know, everyone always talks about pronouns.
04:57Yeah, he, she.
04:58What are your pronouns?
04:59When I'm in drag, everyone's she, her.
05:01Yeah.
05:01And so when you're not in drag and you're Mark or you're Mark?
05:04I'm Mark, yeah.
05:05To my close family or some of my friends who'd known me before I started the whole Priyanka thing.
05:12Yeah.
05:13Yeah, see, this is all, like, this is all, all woods and...
05:15You own all this?
05:16It's all, it's all your home?
05:18Yeah.
05:18What I basically do a lot just when I'm home by myself is I'll take, I'll take Fanny out on
05:23a little ride by myself and just so quiet out there, you know, just go out through the woods and
05:27just, and just kind of chill back there.
05:37Yeah.
05:38Yeah.
05:39Oh, don't mess with Mark.
05:40Yeah.
05:41This is the beach.
05:42Look at the beach.
05:44Wow.
05:46Yeah.
05:47Looks like a postcard.
05:49Yeah.
05:49You know, so it's a sandy beach here and you can swim here. It's a lot of fun. What's your
05:54background then?
05:55Guyanese.
05:56Guyanese.
05:56Yeah.
05:57Okay, so they didn't...
05:58South American.
05:59They didn't give you Guyanese names then?
06:00No. My Hindu name is Avinash. What a great name.
06:04Yeah.
06:04It's perfect.
06:05There's something swimming there. See that? Like some sort of a animal. See it? Right over there?
06:11This is how I go.
06:12A muskrat or something. Like a beaver, maybe.
06:15Uh-huh. Are there beavers here?
06:16Yeah, there's beavers and might even be a snake.
06:19No.
06:19Possible. Water snake, yeah.
06:21I hate snakes.
06:22Yeah.
06:22No.
06:22Good thing it's 200 yards away.
06:24We're going to be back down here after lunch, so we're going to be out in a boat. It's going
06:28to be a very peaceful and a nice time.
06:42Well, would you look at this kitchen? It really turned out great. I don't want to say I've got egg
06:47on my face,
06:48but I didn't want to redo the kitchen.
06:51And now that we've redone the kitchen, Amanda has been making a lot of eggs, and now I've got egg
06:57on my face.
06:58But not just because I've actually got a lot of eggs on my face, but also because I'm a little
07:02bit embarrassed,
07:02because I didn't want to redo the kitchen.
07:04And fortunately, my mother and my then-fiancé, now wife, convinced me that I should, and boy, it really turned
07:11out good.
07:11I didn't think I would enjoy it so much.
07:14So much so that we're probably going to do a lot of the interviews for this show in the kitchen
07:17now,
07:18because I actually feel like it's something that looks nice for the show.
07:21This is a studio now. It's a kitchen, and it's a studio.
07:25And we'll be doing interviews on this series throughout the property in different places,
07:29in the barn, in the loft of the barn, and in the gazebos.
07:33We have various gazebos on the property.
07:35If you like gazebos, or if you just like to hear the word gazebos,
07:38then this is a good show for you, because we'll be saying the word gazebo a lot on this show.
07:51Hi, ladies. How are you?
07:52Hi. Hi. How are you?
07:59Priyanka, thank you for coming to the farm.
08:01I like the farm.
08:02When did you first start doing television?
08:04When I was 16. I volunteered at a local TV station.
08:07I just wanted to one day be on the screen.
08:11That's cool. You went to Niagara College?
08:13Yeah, I did.
08:14For broadcasting?
08:16For film, TV, and radio.
08:17And then you could do either production or presentation on air.
08:21I chose, of course, presentation.
08:23I have a lot to present.
08:25We have similar background.
08:26I went to Algonquin College and studied television broadcasting.
08:29Whoa.
08:30So we're the same person.
08:31Do you have family that's supportive of everything you're doing?
08:34Yeah, but when you're an entertainer, family relationships are kind of weird sometimes.
08:39Yeah.
08:40But when I first did Drag Race, I didn't tell my dad I was gay or a drag queen.
08:45So he had to find out with the masses when I was announced on Canada's Drag Race.
08:50Wow. That's how he found out.
08:51He found out.
08:52And I blame my mom, but in a fun way.
08:56She was like, let's not tell your dad.
08:57She's like, I don't want it to be my problem.
08:58So did you watch the show with your dad when it came on?
09:02No.
09:02Okay.
09:03My dad just saw me perform in December for the first time.
09:07Okay.
09:08And he's obsessed.
09:10Yeah.
09:10He's like, oh, I get it.
09:12But you know when he got it is when he saw me in the sound check when I was like
09:16the tech person
09:16and saying, oh, turn this up and we're plugging in projectors.
09:19Because, you know, drag is quite DIY.
09:22Right.
09:23Sometimes.
09:24And he was like, oh, I understand it now, which is really, really, really, really cool.
09:28So I think my family, my family is, it feels like it's so normal to them.
09:33If I'm like, oh, I got a TV show picked up.
09:35You're like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:36Of course you did.
09:37Yeah.
09:38And I'm like, yes, I love that you have that confidence in me.
09:42But I'm very shocked.
09:44But also, I love that you support me so much.
09:47Yeah, absolutely.
09:48But this life is normal to them, which is so cool.
09:51I was on Drag Race, remember?
09:52I remember.
09:53I was a judge on there.
09:54I do.
09:54I remember when they announced who the special guest judges of the season was.
10:00Everybody was like, what the hell is Tom Green doing there?
10:03Yeah.
10:03They didn't, thought that was kind of weird?
10:05They thought it was weird.
10:07I thought it was awesome.
10:08Yeah.
10:08You won, right?
10:10I did.
10:10You won the whole thing.
10:11I won the whole thing, yes.
10:12And it's wild.
10:14Is the drag community in Toronto a big thing that's inclusive and vibrant and everyone's
10:21having fun?
10:22Or is there a competitiveness?
10:23And how does that work?
10:24It's very competitive.
10:26Going from television into drag was wild.
10:30Because I was like, oh, this is entertainment.
10:31This is art.
10:32I get to express.
10:33I get to turn myself into a brand.
10:34Like, I could start shows.
10:35I can, like, build this thing.
10:37When I started drag, I was like, oh my God, like, I finally feel like I'm a part of something.
10:41So it's like we're all people that are just searching for a very safe space to feel loved,
10:46you know?
10:47But then you introduce competitions and then you, you know, more people get bookings based
10:53on how good they are at entertaining.
10:55And it inherently becomes competitive.
10:57First time you did that, like, what was the process of deciding to do that?
11:01How did you think of the idea?
11:02Or you just sort of felt like you wanted to?
11:04And was it as a performance or was it just sort of a, how did that work?
11:08It was, I had a birthday party and I booked a drag queen to perform at it.
11:12Mm-hmm.
11:13And she asked all my friends, hey, who thinks that Mark should do drag?
11:19And in my head, I'm like, I was hosting kids' television at the time.
11:22So I was like, there's no way that I would ever do this.
11:25Plus, I wasn't even interested in it.
11:26Like, putting on a wig would be the most embarrassing thing to ever do.
11:29Are you joking?
11:30And then when all my friends were, like, screaming and they're like, oh, my God, this makes so much sense.
11:35I was like, maybe I'll try this thing.
11:38And so the first time I ever did drag, it was like a week later, I got into full drag
11:43and did an open stage.
11:45I like your music, by the way.
11:46I'm a musician myself.
11:47Yeah, you are.
11:47I made rap music when I was a teenager.
11:50I got nominated for a Juno.
11:51Yeah, yay.
11:51It's not about me, but I just want you to know.
11:53That makes one of us.
11:54It must be an interesting time to be doing drag, doing music, and doing video with social media.
12:03Is it, like, a completely different thing, right?
12:06I mean, is it?
12:07It's hard to not get infiltrated by the social media of it all.
12:10Because I want to just create.
12:12Like, at the root of it, I'm just, like, a nerd that likes to entertain people.
12:16Like, all the videos and stuff, like, I come up with all the treatments and I edit all the videos
12:19myself.
12:20Like, I'm a nerd.
12:20I love it.
12:21Are you on your social media a lot?
12:23Do you read the comments?
12:24Is it a strange environment when you are doing drag and then going online now with all the craziness going
12:31on in the world?
12:31I used to love it.
12:34And then my content started to reach, it broke through, like, drag race fans and got to normal people.
12:44And the normal people are not fun.
12:46Whatever is perceived as normal in this world, they're no fun.
12:48Right.
12:49Like, my people are normal.
12:50Y'all are crazy.
12:51You know what I'm saying?
12:51Yeah.
12:52And the comments are just.
12:54So that means you're considering that I'm a normal person then?
12:56That makes me kind of feel.
12:57Yeah, you're normal.
12:58Kind of good, actually.
12:59No one's ever called me normal before.
13:01Wow, you did it.
13:03You're white and normal.
13:06I've honestly never been called normal before.
13:07This is a breaking day.
13:09It's crazy, yeah.
13:09I mean, like, when any white man invites me to a farm, I'm like, that's the most normal white man
13:13thing to do.
13:14That's pretty cool.
13:15I'm proud of you.
13:54It already comes.
13:55It already comes.
14:08This is so romantic.
14:09Are you taking me on a cute date?
14:11Look at this.
14:12I wasn't exactly thinking of it like that, but I mean, I just thought it'd be fun to go canoeing.
14:16Broke back a mountain.
14:17Kind of.
14:17Well, it was more just like, let's go canoeing and check it out.
14:20You're taller when you stand up there like that.
14:21Yes, which.
14:22Stand like that.
14:22There we go.
14:22I like that.
14:23Because you need to feel like a man.
14:24Yeah.
14:26So you've got a life jacket under your chair.
14:29Okay.
14:29You don't need to put that on.
14:30Nah.
14:30You're not going to be out too deep.
14:31I got a wig on.
14:32I'm fine.
14:32Step in the center of the boat, because if you don't, then the whole thing will tip over.
14:36Put your foot right in the...
14:37Put my foot in the center like this.
14:39Gang.
14:39Gang.
14:39You're in.
14:40You're in.
14:40You know how to do this.
14:41Yeah.
14:41Hop in.
14:42Just hop in there, and I'm just going to kind of push this out here like this.
14:46Yep.
14:46Hey, Charlie, come on.
14:47You come too.
14:48What if this tips over?
14:50Charlie, jump up.
14:50Jump up.
14:51Jump, jump, jump.
14:52Yes.
14:53Good girl.
14:54Oh, God.
14:55There we go.
14:56Oh, my God.
14:57There we go.
14:58Why does this feel so uncertain?
15:00No, it's fine.
15:01Everything's fine.
15:03Nice thing here, and we're going to...
15:05This feels so wobbly-shah.
15:06Yeah, so stay, keep centered, for sure.
15:09Okay, okay.
15:10But you know, if it tips, we'll just have fun.
15:12Exactly.
15:12I'll take my tits out.
15:14Yeah, well, you know.
15:15And they'll be...
15:15They can be floating devices.
15:17It's not...
15:18It's not that kind of show.
15:19Critical that we do that, but I mean...
15:20Oh, my God.
15:21I'm going to just turn it around.
15:22We're going to go back and forth a few times.
15:24Charlie's having a nice time.
15:25So if you grab your paddle there...
15:27Whee!
15:29See how...
15:29Grab it like that?
15:30Like gangs.
15:31Just grab it like that at the top.
15:32Yeah.
15:33And put your other hand on there.
15:35And just paddle.
15:37This way.
15:37Yeah, and we'll get some speed to know now.
15:39See?
15:40Okay, I got it.
15:41There we go.
15:42Oh, my God.
15:44Wow, look at the fish.
15:45Hey, y'all.
15:47Ah!
15:47There we go.
15:49I'm Canadian, everyone.
15:51Absolutely.
15:52This is what Canadians do.
15:54Canadians wake up in the morning, get in full drag, and go canoeing.
15:58Absolutely.
15:59We got a good rhythm going here.
16:00That's because we're in love.
16:02I got distracted.
16:04I got distracted.
16:06There we go.
16:06So wait, you were...
16:08Are you going to play Princess Diana, or you did that?
16:12Oh, I just did.
16:13You just did that.
16:14I just got back from the UK.
16:15I was in a musical in the West End called Diana the Musical.
16:18Wow.
16:19Where five drag queens played Princess Diana, and we all had these short blonde wigs on,
16:22and we're all just singing as Diana.
16:25Oh, that's amazing.
16:25It was...
16:26So how did the UK audiences respond to that?
16:28We actually loved it.
16:30Yeah.
16:30Was it in London, or...?
16:31It was in London.
16:32We did two weeks in London, then a week in Manchester.
16:35Getting pretty good at this, I think.
16:37You think so?
16:37Yeah, I mean, we're, like, moving.
16:39So when you go back to Toronto...
16:42Uh-huh.
16:43Are you there for a while?
16:45Do you do shows regularly in town?
16:48Right now, I'm in my off-season.
16:49Yeah.
16:50I'm planning for season two of Drag Brand Save My Life.
16:52Okay.
16:53Which is crazy to get a green light on a second season, and hello!
16:56Congratulations.
16:59And then I'm also working on my album stuff.
17:02Yeah.
17:03More music.
17:04Singing, singing, singing.
17:05Working with this vocal coach who's pulling out.
17:07All my childhood trauma, one vocal chord at a time.
17:10I love writing music.
17:12This is great.
17:13I feel like I'm much stronger than I was yesterday, honestly.
17:16Anyways, did you help?
17:18Uh, I think I'm okay.
17:19I'm a pro now, so...
17:21That's good.
17:21No, that was amazing.
17:23That was amazing.
17:24Thank you for taking me out onto the beautiful Chimichanga Lake.
17:28So romantic.
17:29Super cool.
17:29What are you gonna do?
17:30We're gonna touch each other?
17:31Let's go.
17:31Come on this way.
17:32Come with me.
17:33Come on.
17:34Come with me.
17:38Come on.
17:38Come on.
17:43Come on.
17:44So...
17:44So that...
17:45Wait.
17:46Which one's the mule?
17:47Hello.
17:47So it's actually...
17:49This big one here is a mule.
17:49The big one in the middle is a mule.
17:50Oh, wow.
17:51Okay.
17:51Yeah.
17:51That's sweet.
17:52People think a mule and a donkey are the same thing.
17:54I did two years ago.
17:55I didn't...
17:56They're not, are they?
17:56She's a mule is half horse, half donkey.
17:59And they can bite a little bit.
18:01They won't bite.
18:01Bite a little bit?
18:02Well, like, don't put...
18:03I have zero tolerance for biting.
18:05Yeah, yeah.
18:05You know, I've done...
18:06There have been some productions I've worked on where I had a horse...
18:10You know, I was in a scene with a horse sometimes and they...
18:13I felt that, like, the animal wranglers were not taking enough pains to make sure that we
18:17were never behind the horse.
18:18Right, yeah.
18:19And there were some situations where the horse would just kind of rotate and I'd be right
18:22behind them and I was like, this is not...
18:24This is not cool.
18:24Yeah.
18:24You've got to be careful behind them.
18:26You can get killed with that.
18:27They can kick you in the head and kill you.
18:28You're done.
18:29Yeah.
18:29Which is exciting.
18:30Yeah.
18:31You know?
18:32When you're riding the mule, like, you can tell she's sort of working with you.
18:37Like, when you're riding through the woods and there's this...
18:39You're going between trees and you can tell she's kind of, like, feeling your energy.
18:44Oh, we're going to go this way now.
18:45We're going to go this way now.
18:46You're kind of working together on some.
18:48A mule's more intuitive.
18:49It will actually sense your...
18:51Has opinions about the...
18:52It'll sense that you don't know what you're doing faster than a horse.
18:55It'll override you.
18:56Yeah, exactly.
18:57Like, when I first started riding Fanny for six months, like, you know, okay, well, I'm
19:02pulling my rein to the right and I'm pushing my foot and she's not listening.
19:05Well, because she also sensed that I was nervous.
19:07So she's like, I'm not going in the woods with this guy.
19:08This guy's a fucking idiot.
19:09Get your shit together and then we'll...
19:10Yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:11Oh, beautiful.
19:12Thanks for coming.
19:12Bye.
19:12I'm just so rad that you were able to make it out here.
19:15You're making a movie right now in the area?
19:18You're directing a movie that you wrote?
19:20Yeah.
19:21And you're here for a while?
19:22I'm here until December.
19:23That is so great.
19:25Yeah.
19:26You had the day off and you came out here to the farm.
19:28Yeah, we're prepping, you know.
19:28Yeah.
19:29But we're like, it just happened very fast that we're making this movie in Ottawa.
19:33Yeah.
19:33It's not in any way set in Ottawa.
19:35Yeah, no, for sure.
19:37And we were never quite sure where we were going to make it, but everything we need is
19:40here.
19:40Is it sort of set in a rural setting or is it in a...
19:43Yeah, it's set in like a small town.
19:46You know, like we were talking about driving across the states and like, you know, there's
19:49like towns that are everywhere.
19:51Like the kind of quaint ones.
19:52They're like with like one main street, you know?
19:55Yeah, absolutely.
19:56Yeah.
19:56It's like that.
19:57We never say the name of the place, so we never identify it or get specific.
20:01Hold your hand very flat.
20:02Oh, Jesus.
20:03Wait, this is where we're going to go.
20:04Or you can just toss it on the grass over there.
20:05Yeah, I'm going to do that.
20:06Yeah, just toss it over there on the grass.
20:08Even if there's a 5% chance of getting bitten off of you, it'll probably happen.
20:11It'd be a drag if your hand got bit off.
20:13I just don't...
20:14I don't think I'll do it the right way.
20:15Not good timing because you're directing a movie and then you come over here for fun and
20:18you get your hand bitten off, right?
20:19That's just bad timing all around.
20:21But it's got Pamela Anderson.
20:22Yeah.
20:22And Steve Coogan.
20:23That's amazing.
20:24Do you know Steve Coogan?
20:26I met Steve last year for the first time.
20:28Yeah.
20:29Have like, you know, have loved him for years.
20:32And Pamela Anderson, both comedic superstars, right?
20:35Luminaries.
20:36Pamela's in The Naked Gun now and hilarious.
20:38Canadian as well.
20:39Canadian icon.
20:40Did you know her before this movie?
20:42No.
20:43Yeah.
20:43No, but like Pam read the script and really responded to it.
20:47And came on board.
20:50You know, she was the first person to come on.
20:52And is this the first time you've directed a movie?
20:54Yeah.
20:55That's incredible.
20:56So it must be kind of...
20:58Is it...
21:00Do you get nervous when you're directing seasoned actors or is it kind of fun?
21:04Or I mean, you've been in this business for so long.
21:06It's probably...
21:07You're ready to direct a movie, obviously, right?
21:09Yeah.
21:10You know, I'm nervous.
21:11I want it to be good.
21:13Yeah.
21:13So, you know...
21:16But I don't think I'm that nervous about directing them because I really...
21:20I wrote it.
21:21Yeah.
21:21And I really know what we're going toward.
21:25And I know the characters really well.
21:28Yeah, yeah.
21:28We're going to like rehearse in the next few weeks and kind of actually start getting into it.
21:32But...
21:32Yeah.
21:33Well, you did it.
21:34That's right.
21:34How was it for you?
21:35Don't do what I did.
21:38Well, don't make Freddy Got Fingered.
21:40Why not?
21:40Make a much better movie than that.
21:43Are you not proud of Freddy Got Fingered?
21:44I am now.
21:45Yeah.
21:46You're being...
21:46It took about 20 years, though, to become sort of...
21:49Oh, it didn't taste good, like...
21:51Well, you know what?
21:52It's like...
21:53It's like...
21:54I was very proud of it when we made it.
21:57And then when it came out, there was some bad reviews.
21:59A few bad reviews.
22:00We got a couple good ones, too, though.
22:01Yeah.
22:02And then that sort of...
22:03It shoots you down.
22:04That kind of hurt my feelings a little bit.
22:05Yes, I can imagine.
22:06Yeah.
22:06But, uh...
22:07It's like a punch in the face.
22:08Yeah, a little bit like that.
22:09Yeah.
22:10I am proud of the movie, because lots of crazy shit happened in it.
22:13Yeah, you should be.
22:13And we made a crazy thing happen.
22:15I think it's weird that people have so much to say about movies.
22:20You know, like...
22:21It's pretty vicious, isn't it?
22:22Who cares?
22:22I mean, like, this is what I wanted to do.
22:24Why are you...
22:25What's your problem?
22:25There's something about watching someone get tar and feathered.
22:30Uh-huh, yeah.
22:30It's all very sick.
22:32Schadenfreude.
22:32Yeah.
22:33Yes.
22:33There's also a great German word called Fremscham, like, friend shame.
22:38Cringe.
22:39Yeah.
22:39That's a much more sophisticated-sounding way of saying cringe.
22:43Yeah.
22:43Cringe humor is a hilarious thing.
22:45My favorite thing to watch these days is, like, I love police body cam footage of drunk
22:49people at the airport getting arrested.
22:51It is so crazy how many similarities we have.
22:54You love those?
22:55We've been hanging out, like, you know, today for a little bit.
22:57Is that your shit?
22:59Yeah, like I was saying, like, I...
23:00I love those.
23:01I talk about it quite a bit, about how, like, my favorite thing to do is wake up in the
23:04morning and watch Karens getting arrested and tased.
23:06You know, like, just like in police...
23:08I love the uncut...
23:09Police, police.
23:09I love the 40-minute videos.
23:10The arguing...
23:11Yes.
23:11...the lead-up to it.
23:12Oh, and you know what my favorite expression right now is?
23:15Is, I've done nothing wrong.
23:17Yeah.
23:18Because every single drunk person says that.
23:20It's like the mantra of drunk people.
23:22They always say it a million times in the airport.
23:24They go, I've done nothing wrong!
23:26Yeah.
23:26So, yeah, well, we should start sharing some of these videos.
23:28Okay.
23:28Yeah, I'll send them.
23:29I'll send the good ones.
23:30You want to take a walk around?
23:31Yeah, let's take a walk.
23:31Have a look around?
23:32Let's do it.
23:32Yeah, cool.
23:33Awesome.
23:33No, that's cool.
23:36Are you going to push me into the pond now?
23:37No, no, no.
23:38The final act of the episode?
23:39Look at the trout, see?
23:41Wow.
23:42Hey!
23:42Press it right there.
23:44Oh, my God!
23:44Yeah, see?
23:45What the...
23:46They're crazy, right?
23:48Yeah.
23:50Yeah.
23:50Wow!
23:52I love it.
23:52It's a rainbow trout, right?
23:53Yay, my rainbow gate trout.
23:55Yeah.
23:55Here you go.
23:56Yeah.
23:57Mommy's here.
23:58It's like I didn't even make that connection, but yeah, it's like they're...
24:01Pride.
24:02They're gay fish.
24:03Yeah.
24:03That's so beautiful.
24:04Absolutely.
24:04An ally.
24:05I didn't even realize that.
24:06Here you go.
24:10Wow.
24:12Oh, yeah.
24:12Do you have your name them all?
24:14No, there's 260 of them, so...
24:16Oh, shit.
24:17Yeah.
24:17They aren't natural to the pond.
24:19You just put them in here?
24:20Put them in, yeah.
24:21Where do you buy trout to put in here?
24:22A fish hatchery.
24:23A trout farm.
24:24Yeah.
24:24And then you're going to put them in here, then...
24:26And they grow.
24:26They grow, like big.
24:28And you're going to let them grow, and then you're going to eat them.
24:30Yeah.
24:31There you go, guys.
24:32Eat them up.
24:33Grow nice and fat.
24:34I don't have the same personal connection with fish as I do with mammals for some reason.
24:37Well, this has been great.
24:39Thank you so much, Brienca.
24:40This is great.
24:42All right.
24:50I have actually done several drag bits myself on the old Tom Green show.
24:55Uh-huh.
24:56I would be in a dress with a wig, and I would run down the street, and I'd spray my
25:01fire
25:01extinguisher around in the air and stuff.
25:03Why was...
25:04Why?
25:04Oh, just because I was being weird.
25:07Because that's drag.
25:08Yeah.
25:08What did your fans from YTV, sort of, they were surprised when you, you know, grew up
25:14and became sort of Priyanka?
25:16I still am shocked that kids that used to watch me on the kids' TV channel grew up and
25:21followed me here now.
25:23Like, a lot of the meet and greets that I have at my shows is that's a lot of the
25:27storyline.
25:27Like, we used to watch you on YTV, and now we're here at your concerts, and we're so
25:30proud of you.
25:32Do you think Canadians are more accepting people of different cultures and different, you know,
25:40sexual orientation and drag and sort of things like that?
25:44Or is there still, you know, still prejudice here in Canada, too, I guess?
25:48I think it's the same, just Canadians are quieter about it.
25:51Uh-huh.
25:52Because we just make Americans.
25:53The Americans are crazy, so they're the loud mouthpieces, and then it transfers over here.
25:58So when you go to a small town on Drag Brunch, Save My Life, is that kind of, you go
26:04to a
26:04restaurant?
26:05Tell me about that show.
26:06So we go to a restaurant, and we're helping the restaurant just put some pizzazz into their
26:14business.
26:14Maybe they're struggling.
26:16Maybe they want to try a drag brunch for the first time.
26:18Maybe they just are having a good time.
26:20Or maybe they had a drag brunch that maybe failed, like they didn't sell enough tickets
26:23or whatever.
26:24So I get the call, and they're like, Priyanka, help us.
26:28Whoa!
26:29This is incredible.
26:30Right?
26:30This is significantly bigger than any space we've tackled so far.
26:34Wow.
26:34I've never seen our space like this.
26:36Never.
26:36I'm literally speechless.
26:38Welcome to Drag Brunch at the Library Bar.
26:41And then we, like, transform, you know, the team and put everybody in nice costumes and
26:46pick a theme and have this big drag brunch at the end.
26:50But leading up to that drag brunch, you get to know the owners of the restaurant, and you
26:54get to know the community a little bit more, and you get to know the local queens, and
26:58that's where you find out how homophobia takes a place in those small towns.
27:03So that's part of the show, going to a small town where they're not maybe as accustomed
27:06to seeing drag.
27:07Yeah, or there's been a drag brunch there, and, like, we don't know why we're selling
27:10tickets, and then you hear that there's, like, all kinds of protests and stuff around,
27:12and that's why.
27:17How are you, Amy?
27:18Good, Tom.
27:19How are you today?
27:20Really good.
27:20Aria's doing really good.
27:21Well, I'm glad to hear.
27:23She must be growing.
27:24Yeah.
27:24You brought Aria back.
27:25She was really big in the spring.
27:27Inside the kitchen, Amy Himmelman joins me to talk about Aria's time away, her training,
27:32her temperament, the things she learned, and the ways she's changed.
27:36Here comes Aria.
27:37Oh, my God, this is exciting.
27:39We give her quite a good feeding while she was at the farm.
27:42And helped her grow and did some work with her while she was with us.
27:46Wow.
27:46Tom.
27:47Holy cow.
27:48This is amazing.
27:49Hello.
27:50How are you?
27:51How are you?
27:52Good to see you, man.
27:52Good to see you.
27:53She's growing.
27:54You're really going to notice the difference in her.
27:57It's been six months?
27:58Six months.
27:59Oh, it's got to be that, yes.
28:00She's bigger?
28:01Is she bigger now?
28:02Yeah, she's growing.
28:03The other ladies here, are we keeping them separated for a while?
28:07Just for an hour.
28:08Just for an hour, okay.
28:09Just for about an hour, and they can just smell each other over the fence.
28:11And they're going to be okay with her?
28:13And they should be fine with her, yes.
28:14I mean, it is her mom.
28:16Yeah.
28:16And will it appear like it's a mother and a baby reuniting, and will there be sort of
28:20a lot of emotion?
28:21No.
28:22No?
28:22No, they might talk.
28:23They might, but I...
28:25Is she excited to see her mom when she comes home from being away?
28:30It's not so much her mother, it's she's a herd animal.
28:33Yeah.
28:33And that's what gets the excitement going.
28:35Does she recognize Fanny and Allura and Keen?
28:38I would say so, yes, 100%.
28:40So she's home, she's been away for six months, she comes home, she sees them, she's like,
28:44oh, I remember this place, I was here for six months, I know these guys, that's my mom.
28:49Yes, they remember, I fully believe that.
28:52She knows Allura is her mom?
28:54Yes.
28:55And will always know that?
28:56I think so, yes.
28:57Even when they're much more older?
28:59I think so.
29:00Yeah.
29:00I'm a believer in it.
29:01And Allura knows that Aria is her baby?
29:04Yes.
29:04Like, she's one of these tough little girls in here.
29:06She's tough?
29:07Like a wild Mustang, oh yeah.
29:09Really?
29:09Oh yeah.
29:09She's tough.
29:10How would you say Aria was as a fool?
29:15She a good fool?
29:16She was a good fool, she was pushy.
29:18Okay.
29:18But once she realized that we were in control, she was fine.
29:23How big is she now?
29:24Is she as big as her mom yet?
29:25No, no, no.
29:26By the end of the summer, she might be that height.
29:28When they're about three, you're going to be riding her.
29:31Yeah.
29:31Two more years then.
29:32Two more years.
29:33Any other questions?
29:34No, let's, I can't wait to see her.
29:36This is your new adventure.
29:37This is your work cut out for you for the summer.
29:39Oh yeah, absolutely.
29:40Are you ready for it?
29:41Yeah, no, I can't believe it.
29:42Aria, I see her right there.
29:44I love her so much.
29:46Oh, whoa, look how big you are.
29:49Hi, Aria.
29:50Oh my gosh.
29:52What's your thing?
29:53Hi.
29:54Hello.
29:55Remember this place?
29:58Hi, Aria.
30:00Remember me?
30:01Hi.
30:02Look at.
30:02Welcome home.
30:04We're going to go see your friends, okay?
30:07Remember this place?
30:09Hello, mama.
30:10I think she knows now that that's her baby coming back.
30:19All worked out.
30:20Everybody's happy.
30:21It all worked out.
30:22It usually does.
30:24Get a cup.
30:26Oh.
30:36Oh, look at that.
30:40Wow.
30:42Wow, huh?
30:56Oh, that's the guinea hens, yeah.
30:58A what?
30:59A guinea hen.
30:59A guinea hen.
31:00It's kind of like a chicken and a...
31:02It's like a bird.
31:04They live here.
31:05They're eating ticks and bugs and stuff.
31:07Ticks?
31:08Yeah, yeah.
31:08They're good.
31:09The guinea hens got them all.
31:10They took care of them.
31:10Don't worry about the ticks.
31:11If you get bit by a tick, you just pull it off, you know.
31:13It's no problem.
31:14That's why celebrities get Lyme disease.
31:15Yeah, no, but if you pull it off right away...
31:16I'm a celebrity.
31:17I don't want Lyme disease.
31:17No, no, you pull it off right away.
31:18It's just no problem.
31:19Just check yourself when you go, you know, home tonight or whatever.
31:21Just check for ticks and...
31:22Imagine?
31:23If you remove it right away, then you can't get Lyme disease.
31:26I love it.
31:26If you get a tick and it bites you, as long as you...
31:29And it's embedded in your flesh, right?
31:31It's sort of burrowing into your flesh, right?
31:33Yeah.
31:34And then you see it right away.
31:35Then you, like, within 24 hours, you remove it.
31:38You don't even need to do an antibiotic, okay?
31:40When you make your music, do you make...
31:42Is the music something...
31:43You go into a studio and you make the music and the lyrics?
31:46Or did somebody make the music?
31:47You write the lyrics and...
31:48Yeah, I write them, too.
31:49And you make the beats, too?
31:51You make the music?
31:51No, but I have very...
31:52That's kind of...
31:52They're pretty cool beats.
31:53I want to learn...
31:54My next goal is to learn how to play piano.
31:56Yeah.
31:57Because I want to learn more about composition.
31:59But I grew up in a family of DJs.
32:00My dad's a DJ.
32:02I remember when he brought home, like,
32:03my heart will go on on vinyl.
32:05You're like, oh, Celine Dion has this new song.
32:06Should we all listen to it?
32:07So we all, like, sit there and listen to it.
32:09At the time, I was a child, so I was like,
32:11boring, another slow song?
32:14Now it's, I mean, what an iconic song.
32:17Celine's, like, is she popular among the drag community?
32:20Oh, yeah.
32:21Do you know one time I bought my mom and I tickets
32:23to go see Celine Dion?
32:25And she called me on the day of the concert and said,
32:29hey, so I was thinking that, like,
32:31you don't have to go.
32:32I want to take your dad.
32:33So I got uninvited to this concert, okay?
32:36I bought the tickets.
32:37You invited her, though.
32:38That's what I'm talking about.
32:39What's that all about?
32:40Parent.
32:40She just took them?
32:41Yeah.
32:41So you didn't just say, like, what the fuck?
32:43Growing up, you don't talk back to your parents?
32:45You don't talk to your mom like that
32:46when she steals your Celine Dion tickets.
32:47No, are you joking?
32:47We're not white.
32:50What's the worst thing you've ever said to your mom?
32:52Well, I threw a decapitated cow's head in her bed once.
32:56Do you feel a sense of responsibility to, you know,
33:01you're representing your community?
33:03Do people must look up to you as a huge inspiration now?
33:08I am so happy that I am somebody that people can look up to
33:13because I cannot believe it.
33:15What a dream.
33:16What a beautiful thing in life to be able to be fighting
33:20and breaking down barriers and having your ups and downs
33:22and having your struggles for other people to be like,
33:24you know what?
33:25Pray I can do this so I can do it too.
33:27Well, this has been amazing.
33:28Look, we're not done talking.
33:30We're just going to get out of the barn now.
33:33We're going to hang out today.
33:34I want to read your tarot cards.
33:35Oh, that's cool.
33:36All right, let's go.
33:36Bye.
33:38Awesome.
33:39Awesome.
33:39I can't stop talking to you.
33:40Priyanka, everybody.
33:41Yay!
33:41All right.
33:43All right.
33:49We're playing a little music.
33:53Hello, everybody.
33:56Ari has never heard music before.
33:59Woo-hoo-hoo.
34:07And he doesn't like it so much.
34:22Earlier in the summer, Priyanka made her way up to the top
34:24of the skateboard ramp where Shane was painting the deck
34:28before Tony Hawk arrived, before all of this.
34:33How's it going, Shane?
34:35Great.
34:35How are you doing, Tom?
34:36This is my friend Priyanka.
34:37Hey.
34:38Do you think I'm pretty?
34:39Yes.
34:41Nice.
34:41That's crazy.
34:43Nice guys.
34:43Nice guys.
34:43I found love in the country.
34:45You know, people are nice out here in the country.
34:47Where are you from, Shane?
34:48I'm from Kingston, Ontario, not too far away.
34:51You do paintings all over the world.
34:53All over the world.
34:53Murals.
34:54Murals everywhere.
34:55As far as Spain and Europe, the States just got back from L.A.
35:00Do you have an idea for the top?
35:01We were thinking, like, make it look like the sky
35:02with some clouds, some trees.
35:04We're up here.
35:04We might as well bring the beautiful sky into it.
35:06We got the tree line, so throw some trees up there.
35:09But don't you think it should be a photo of me, like?
35:12I mean, if that was center, then maybe, you know,
35:16be in the focal point.
35:17So you're ready to, like, just start right now?
35:19Yeah, I'm ready to get going, yeah.
35:21Look, look, look.
35:23Nice.
35:23Wow.
35:26Oh, that is nice.
35:27When did you start painting?
35:29I did my first oil painting when I was about 9 or 10.
35:33I think in my early 20s, I started doing mural work
35:37and traveling around a bit.
35:39When I was younger, also doing a little bit of the kind of
35:41street art kind of stuff, tag stuff.
35:43Thanks so much, Shane.
35:45Thank you, Shane.
35:45Thanks for having me.
35:55Oh, look at this.
35:57Oh, so cute.
35:58This is the little one.
36:00This is Aria, yeah.
36:01Aria.
36:02Gosh, she's the size of her mother.
36:04She's baby, yeah?
36:05Hey, little.
36:05Hi.
36:06Careful.
36:06Don't let her kick you, though.
36:07Don't let her kick you in the head.
36:08Okay.
36:08No.
36:09It might kick some sense into us.
36:11Yeah.
36:12She's big for a year old, huh?
36:13She is big.
36:15She's one year old.
36:15She's very pretty.
36:16One year old.
36:17Hi.
36:18Mm-hmm.
36:19Hello.
36:20Mm-hmm.
36:21All this white clover.
36:22I think Aria's going to be jealous.
36:25This is Aria.
36:26Or, I mean, Aaliyah.
36:27Aaliyah's a dead R&B singer.
36:30Kia.
36:30We're having fun.
36:31She's going to get bigger than you, isn't she?
36:33Yeah, she already is.
36:34When are we throwing a saddle at her?
36:36Two more years.
36:38Two more years?
36:39Yeah.
36:40Three years old.
36:40Three years before they get saddled up?
36:41Three years, yes.
36:42I think we need to weed the garden.
36:45We?
36:45Mm-hmm.
36:46We don't live here.
36:48You got a hoe?
36:50Are you, like, trying to get me in trouble by setting me up for, like, obvious jokes that
36:55are going to get me in trouble, or what?
36:56No.
36:57You got a hoe?
36:58Amanda's sitting right there?
36:59Oh, don't be ridiculous.
37:01Well, I mean, you're obviously trying to do that.
37:03Tommy, behave yourself.
37:04Well, it's not very nice to Amanda what you just did.
37:08You did.
37:09You obviously...
37:10No, I didn't.
37:10Oh, come on.
37:11I'm...
37:14Pretty excited about my new tractor.
37:16Or should I say old tractor?
37:17It's a 1964 International.
37:21Naturally, Priyanka wants to drive it.
37:23Have you ever driven a tractor before, Priyanka?
37:25No, I haven't, actually.
37:26I just got this.
37:27Like, recently.
37:28Does it require any kind of special licensing?
37:30No, you don't even need a license.
37:31No way!
37:31You don't even need a license to drive it.
37:33Okay, everybody stand back.
37:35It's from 1964, so...
37:37Is this the first time you've started up?
37:38I have started it before,
37:40but there's an elaborate process of switches
37:43and sort of checks and balances.
37:45It's a lot like an aircraft.
37:46You don't have to mansplain.
37:47I'm a man, remember?
37:48I wasn't trying to do that.
37:49It was more like tractor-splaining.
37:51Right.
37:52Yeah.
37:52But, uh...
37:53Okay, so let's see here.
37:58Nice.
37:59Nice.
38:01Pretty cool.
38:02Oh, God.
38:06And that's how Tom Green died.
38:08Ah!
38:10Wow.
38:10That's kind of fun.
38:11You just kind of...
38:12Just go like this, and we'll...
38:15That's a lot of fun.
38:16Just stop it like that.
38:19There we go.
38:20Exactly.
38:21There we go.
38:23There we go.
38:24It sounds like it's going to explode at any time.
38:26It is going to explode.
38:27And you were explaining the whole time,
38:28but I didn't hear a thing.
38:29Well, I'll show you again.
38:31It's in neutral now.
38:32Right.
38:33So...
38:34It's not automatic.
38:35Not automatic.
38:36If you want to shift gears, you have to stop.
38:37Uh-huh.
38:38Put the clutch down.
38:40Clutch my pearls.
38:41And then...
38:42Clutch your pearls,
38:42and then shift it into a higher gear.
38:45But we'll just...
38:45I won't do that.
38:46I won't do all that.
38:47Let's just go into first gear,
38:48and we'll just go slow and I'll be fine.
38:49We'll just...
38:50It's just fun feeling the power of the diesel engine.
38:53Fuck yeah.
38:55Absolutely.
38:55Ooh, yeah.
38:56The diesel engine.
38:59Yeah.
38:59Okay.
38:59Hop up there.
39:00Yes!
39:01Hop up there.
39:01I'm ready for this.
39:03Yeah.
39:05Yeah.
39:06Woo!
39:08Okay.
39:10So, uh...
39:11See that thing there?
39:12Grab that stick right there between your legs.
39:15Why are there so many buttons?
39:16Make that go to the middle, okay?
39:18Okay, it's in the middle.
39:18Now, push...
39:20What?
39:20...this down.
39:20Push it down.
39:21It should start.
39:23Yeah.
39:23There you go.
39:24There you go.
39:25Release that thing on the side.
39:27This?
39:32Go up and then go around the log pile,
39:34and then come up and then stop it right there.
39:37Oh, yeah.
39:37There you go.
39:38At any point, you feel...
39:39That's great.
39:40I'm a pro.
39:41Really good.
39:42This has been a fun day.
39:44This has been fun.
39:46You've had fun, right?
39:47Yeah, I have.
39:48I've had fun, too.
39:49Come around here.
39:51It's so slow!
39:52Yeah.
39:53Just turn it more, crank it more, crank it more.
39:55That's good.
39:55That's good.
39:56Yep.
39:58There we go.
40:00Oh, yeah.
40:01Nice.
40:02I got the need for speed.
40:04Yeah.
40:05I'm coming.
40:06That's good.
40:07Don't you worry.
40:09I'll, uh, maybe just break it right there.
40:14And I'll push the thing...
40:15I'll move the...
40:16Yeah, I'll move.
40:16Yeah, you can do that.
40:17Do that.
40:18And then move that to the middle.
40:19Yeah, pull that out.
40:21Yeah.
40:21Oh!
40:23Wow!
40:24Yeah!
40:25Awesome.
40:25Awesome.
40:27Very cool.
40:28Thanks, y'all.
40:29Very cool.
40:29Very cool.
40:30I gotta get my...
40:31Careful there.
40:32Careful.
40:32You all right?
40:33Careful.
40:33Please help a lady.
40:34There you go.
40:34There you go.
40:35Oh, oops.
40:36Okay.
40:37I got you.
40:38I got you.
40:38I got you.
40:39I got you.
40:39I got you.
40:40Everything, everything, everything.
40:40Crazy when that happens.
40:42Great day.
40:42Great day.
40:43Great day.
40:43We did it.
40:44Now what?
40:45Well, I don't know.
40:46Uh, tarot cards.
40:48Yeah.
40:48I'll read your tarot before I go.
40:50Okay.
40:51Do you think I did good?
40:51That was really cool.
40:52Would you hire me to work on the farm?
40:54Absolutely, yeah.
40:54Yeah.
40:55Wow.
40:56Great.
40:57That's settled.
40:58I can take care of all your cocks.
41:02Well, I'll probably...
41:06Cut!
41:08Hey, Mom.
41:08Yeah?
41:09Mom, can you hand me the mimosas?
41:11You want one too, Mom?
41:12Yeah, Mom, come get lit with us.
41:14Yeah, come get lit.
41:16There you go.
41:17Nice.
41:17Cheers.
41:18Cheers.
41:19Cheers.
41:19Cheers.
41:20Cheers.
41:21Cheers.
41:22Good times.
41:22Great to have you at the farm.
41:25Mm-hmm.
41:25Runaway chicken.
41:27Oh, my God.
41:28Like, block work.
41:29Amazing.
41:36Nice time of day here.
41:38Magic hour, or golden hour, I guess.
41:41It's great, man.
41:42Good spot.
41:42When you're making your movie, are you sort of involved with the scheduling of it?
41:48Yeah.
41:48Yeah.
41:49All the set designs and all the camera work and everything, I guess, right?
41:53Yeah, yeah.
41:53And I was saying, you know, like, we're shooting in the fall here, and so we're really, like,
41:58we're quite limited with daylight.
42:00Yeah, yeah.
42:00So we have to be very strategic.
42:02Yes.
42:03And we have basically 23 days to make this movie anyway, which is kind of fast.
42:08Yeah.
42:08So we have to move.
42:09And we're shooting on film.
42:10Yeah.
42:10We're shooting 35.
42:11Oh, really?
42:11Yeah.
42:12Oh, nice.
42:12Okay.
42:13When you've been making movies and shows for so long, do you kind of sort of, is it sometimes
42:18frustrating?
42:19You're going, oh, you're not doing it the way I would do it.
42:22And then you've done anything.
42:22You know, you do feel that as an actor, or at least some do.
42:24I definitely have.
42:26But then I think it'll be humbling to be actually doing the whole thing.
42:30And you'll be like, oh, it's kind of easy to be an armchair quarterback.
42:34Were you prepared for the sort of explosive success of Superbad when that happened?
42:39Was that an exciting time in your life?
42:42How old were you when you made that movie?
42:43I was 18.
42:44Yeah, yeah.
42:4518 years old, and all of a sudden you're a phenomenon.
42:47Yeah, and then it was, I mean, honestly, I didn't know it was going to be such a big movie,
42:51I think.
42:51But when it was about to come out, I was getting a feeling that it was going to be a
42:55really big
42:55movie.
42:56There was like a building off the 110, like a full building in downtown.
42:59L.A. with me and Jonah on it, like a 20-story building.
43:03We'd drive on the highway and see us.
43:05I think I didn't really quite realize somehow that it was going to be that big a release.
43:09Right, yeah.
43:09Like that kind of studio muscle behind it.
43:12Yeah.
43:12But it was great.
43:13I mean, I was definitely proud to be a part of it.
43:15You know, there was, I remember screening the movie in Santa Monica and Bob Odenkirk
43:19was at the screening.
43:20And I was like, all I could focus on was Bob.
43:22Yeah.
43:23And I was like aware of when Bob was laughing and stuff.
43:25Yeah.
43:26So I was, I felt good about the movie.
43:28Because you were a huge fan of Mr. Show.
43:29Yeah.
43:30So every night, every Friday when I was growing up, it was the Tom Green Show and Mr. Show.
43:33Do you remember that block?
43:35Like it was Mr. Show and the Tom Green Show.
43:37It was like an hour.
43:37On the Comedy Network.
43:38On Fridays.
43:39On the Comedy Network.
43:40Channel 44.
43:40I do remember that.
43:41Yeah.
43:41Yeah.
43:41Because that was Friday's.
43:42So you would have been living in Canada at the time.
43:44Yeah.
43:44Yeah.
43:45That was before the show was on MTV.
43:47Yeah.
43:47No, it was like the Roger.
43:48It was your Rogers show.
43:49Yeah.
43:49Yeah.
43:49I remember I had an article in McLean's.
43:52Mm-hmm.
43:52And it had both Mr. Show and I in the same article.
43:55And I was like, wow, this is pretty cool.
43:57Yeah.
43:57Because you were a huge fan of comedy.
43:58Like you went to SCTV, like Second City.
44:01Yeah.
44:01Right?
44:01When you were young, right?
44:02When you were in Toronto.
44:03I was like 10 doing the classes.
44:0510?
44:05Okay.
44:05Yeah.
44:06But I never performed.
44:07Okay.
44:07I never, I never got on stage.
44:11And they were so fun.
44:13And honestly, I have to say like, like watching your stuff when I was a kid was kind of really
44:21formative as far as like, I was, you know, just, I kind of like feel like I got clued
44:29into editing and tone through your work, early work.
44:35Like as a kid, I remember being really like, I like how this is edited.
44:40Yeah.
44:40Yeah.
44:40I like the flow of it.
44:41Yeah.
44:42Yeah.
44:42And obviously like the, the thing that like, you know, the spectacle of what you're doing
44:47is the thing that draws you in.
44:49But like, but I remember really admiring also the way that you, you know, like crafted it.
44:56Is that early stage of video cameras and getting access to equipment with no real guidance or
45:03formal training?
45:05Yeah.
45:05Yeah.
45:06No, I mean, it's, it's cool.
45:07Well, it's, it's pretty, pretty awesome.
45:08Um, you, uh, I'm excited to, uh, I'm excited that you're here in the region doing this movie
45:16and excited to have you here.
45:17And it's great to see your life here.
45:19To get to hang out a little bit.
45:20It's, it's pretty, pretty awesome.
45:22I was, I just was thinking I had to go check on something.
45:24Okay.
45:25Um, you got my way here.
45:27Yeah.
45:28I think I just, well, you know, I, because when you showed up, I forgot I might have left,
45:31I might have left the oven on or something like that.
45:33Okay.
45:33Well, I'll wait here.
45:35If you don't mind, it's just, I'll be like right back.
45:37All right.
45:39Is that weird?
45:40Or, I literally think I left the oven on.
45:42No, if you're stressed about it.
45:42Yeah.
45:43Just give me one second.
45:43Okay.
45:44Yeah.
45:44I'll be right back.
45:45Just enjoy the fun set.
45:47I'll be right back.
45:47All right.
45:51I want to burn the house down.
45:53And finally, what would this show with Priyanka be without a seance?
45:59Candles, quiet at dusk.
46:01Whether we connected with spirits or not, I'm not sure, but the moment felt right for the
46:05day.
46:06Thanks, Priyanka.
46:08Okay.
46:08So I'm new to reading tarot decks and I thought that I could practice on you.
46:12Okay.
46:13No, that sounds fun.
46:14Yeah.
46:14But apparently if I mess this up, I could mess up your whole life or something.
46:17We have nothing important coming up.
46:18So.
46:19Yeah.
46:20I think I'll be fine.
46:21Getting married in two weeks.
46:23Have you done this before or ever?
46:24Yeah, I do.
46:25All the time.
46:25So you do.
46:26With all my friends.
46:26I love it.
46:27And my boyfriend and I do it.
46:28And are you sort of connecting with some spirits of some sort?
46:31Yeah.
46:31The energy?
46:32Energy.
46:33Nice.
46:33Always energy.
46:34And just guidance.
46:36And if it's real, great.
46:37Oh, cheers.
46:38Cheers to guidance and energy.
46:39Guidance and energy.
46:42Ah, shit.
46:43That's good shit.
46:44Okay.
46:44Is there a specific question you want to ask?
46:46Good shit.
46:47Oh, wow.
46:48Oh, no.
46:50It's the justice card.
46:52Okay.
46:52Do you want to hold it?
46:54Sure.
46:55I'm going to get my trusty book and tell you what it means because I have no fucking clue.
46:58Okay.
46:58The scales of justice.
47:00If justice represents a person in your reading, it could be a Libra.
47:04Amanda, are you a Libra?
47:05No.
47:05See, I don't even know.
47:06I didn't know.
47:07And you're getting married in two weeks.
47:08So that's a good thing it says.
47:10This is great.
47:10Yeah, this is great.
47:10Okay, there you go.
47:11This person.
47:12Libra, okay.
47:13A Libra?
47:13Okay.
47:13Will be fair-minded, principled, and shrewd.
47:16There you go.
47:17And represent a voice you should heed.
47:19This is great.
47:20You found your perfect match.
47:20There you go.
47:21There you go.
47:21That's so beautiful.
47:23Love you, baby.
47:23There you go.
47:24Isn't that nice?
47:24I can't even ruin this marriage even if I tried.
47:26That's amazing.
47:27It's in the cards.
47:27Do you have a specific question you want to ask it?
47:29Did I want to ask it?
47:30Yeah, ask anything in the world.
47:33Was this a good decision to have moved here to this farm?
47:37That's fun.
47:38Okay, good.
47:39I mean, I think it was now, but maybe there could be something.
47:41I don't know.
47:42Nine of coins.
47:44Who's this lady on the card?
47:46Yeah, she looks happy.
47:47Look, she's literally watering plants.
47:49Oh, yeah.
47:50And they're growing.
47:51Yeah.
47:52I'm investing in creating a wonderful life for my future self.
47:56Yeah.
47:56That's what I just asked about.
47:57That's fucking crazy, right?
47:59That is crazy.
48:00Now, do you believe in the magic?
48:01I don't really understand how that happened.
48:02How did that happen?
48:03I don't know.
48:04You have a great marriage about to happen.
48:06Absolutely.
48:06And the farm was the best decision you made for your life?
48:09Absolutely.
48:09Yeah.
48:10Do you want to pull a card for me?
48:11Yeah.
48:11Okay.
48:12You can pull a card for me.
48:12This is for me.
48:13Yeah.
48:13Okay.
48:14Here you go.
48:15Strength.
48:16Mm-hmm.
48:18Do you want to read it?
48:18Can you read?
48:19I can, yeah.
48:20Strength is a much more subtle concept than strictly force or power, covering traits such
48:29as compassion, resilience, courage, wisdom, only through hardship and challenge that this
48:35exercise occurs.
48:37Mm-hmm.
48:38I want to feel strong and powerful.
48:40That's real.
48:41I do.
48:42So how did that work?
48:44Explain how that worked again exactly.
48:45I picked a card.
48:46Yeah.
48:47Handed it to you.
48:48Yeah.
48:48You handed it to me.
48:49It said strength on it.
48:50Yeah.
48:50I went to strength and it describes you.
48:52Fuck yeah.
48:54Absolutely.
48:54That's how you say more present.
48:55Do you feel present?
48:56I do.
48:57Good for you.
48:58Thank you, Priyanka.
49:02Come here.
49:04Thank you for having me.
49:05On your beautiful, beautiful farm.
49:07The cards don't lie.
49:08So now do you believe in tarot?
49:10I do.
49:10It was actually very accurate.
49:11It was very cool.
49:12Thank you very much.
49:13You're welcome, Daddy.
49:14Thank you, Priyanka.
49:14Yeah, absolutely.
49:15Daddy.
49:17This was a lot of fun.
49:18Congratulations on everything.
49:19Excited about your new record.
49:21Yeah, me too.
49:22I'm so excited.
49:23Well, everybody give it up for Priyanka, everyone.
49:29You were awesome.
49:30Can you give me a ride home?
49:32Absolutely, yeah.
49:33Absolutely, yeah.
49:34Yeah.
49:34We've got a tractor.
49:35Goes four miles per hour.
49:42Apples.
49:44These are the apples we fed the horses, I guess, aren't they?
49:48A lot of apples on here.
49:53Make a nice pie.
50:01Deep in the heart of the forest,
50:03a monster lurks.
50:05It's a creature long whispered about in legends.
50:09Blurry photos.
50:11And gas station souvenir mugs.
50:14Sasquatch.
50:15Bigfoot.
50:17Yeti.
50:18Michael Cera stands frozen,
50:21not from fear,
50:22but from recognition.
50:23But instead of panicking,
50:25running,
50:26we're calling animal control.
50:28Michael Cera just squinted,
50:31leaned in,
50:32and said the exact words
50:33every cryptozoologist
50:35dreams of hearing.
50:36What are you doing?
50:38That's great.
50:42What are you doing?
50:44You're doing a Sasquatch thing.
50:49Should I,
50:49am I,
50:50should I react?
50:52It's a great costume.
51:01Is it warm?
51:05Do you want a clean shot of him?
51:07It's all right.
51:10Dog,
51:11give it away?
51:12No,
51:12give one away.
51:15Like it wasn't real Sasquatch?
51:16Why would the dog be with it?
51:18I hadn't thought of that.
51:20But now that you mention it,
51:21yeah,
51:21that's,
51:22I guess that's why it didn't work.
51:25Did it scare you for a second though?
51:29When I first,
51:30when I first noticed
51:31there was something there,
51:31I definitely,
51:32yeah,
51:33my,
51:33I kind of,
51:33I was like,
51:34there's something there,
51:35yeah.
51:36That's cool.
51:38Yeah,
51:38the dog screwed it up.
51:39Anyways.
51:41No,
51:41it was great.
51:42It wasn't screwed up.
51:43It was,
51:43uh,
51:43Charlie.
51:45Let me just,
51:47let me try one more time,
51:48okay?
51:48For the show,
51:50Zach,
51:50like kind of scared?
51:51Yeah,
51:51of course.
51:51Okay.
51:52I'll,
51:53Charlie,
51:54you stay,
51:54okay?
51:57Okay.
51:58Tell me when you're ready.
52:00Yeah,
52:00anytime.
52:02Uh,
52:02the apples.
52:03Oh my God.
52:06Get out of here!
52:10Yeah,
52:10want to try one more?
52:11Yeah,
52:11yeah.
52:12Tell me when.
52:13Yeah.
52:14Okay.
52:15Now.
52:17What's that?
52:27What's that?
52:30Something like this maybe.
52:32Watch this.
52:33Yeah.
52:33The dog.
52:34The dog again.
52:35Shit.
52:38Ah,
52:39yeah,
52:39oh yeah.
52:40Yeah,
52:40yeah.
52:41I think we got a lot of good.
52:45It's the first time I've done it,
52:47so.
52:47Really?
52:48So it's kind of.
52:49You're going to do that every,
52:50uh,
52:51with everyone?
52:52Eh,
52:53it was like the idea,
52:53it was just going to be a fun little thing.
52:55We're going to do all sorts of fun stuff on the show,
52:57so.
52:57I think it's really good.
52:58Yeah.
52:59Yeah,
52:59I think it was really,
53:00I think it was,
53:01I think you're going to watch it back and say,
53:03I'm glad I did it.
53:04I wasn't really going to check on the oven,
53:06so.
53:06Well,
53:06that honestly,
53:07when you said that,
53:08it felt fake.
53:10Because you said it even a couple times.
53:12You're like,
53:13it's just the oven,
53:13the oven,
53:13the oven.
53:14Right,
53:14right.
53:14It was kind of like,
53:16hey,
53:17I don't trust him.
53:18Yeah.
53:25So yes,
53:26Michael Cera cracked the case wide open,
53:28and figured out it was me in the Sasquatch costume.
53:31Fine.
53:32Good for him.
53:33Gold star.
53:34But let's be clear.
53:36Just because Michael Cera caught me,
53:38doesn't mean I'm going to stop wandering around the woods,
53:40dressed as a majestic forest cryptid.
53:43I like walking around the woods in my Sasquatch costume.
53:46And frankly,
53:48the woods like it too.
53:50What I love about this place,
53:53you never know what kind of day you're going to get.
53:57Sometimes it's tractors and seances.
54:00Sometimes it's quiet talks under the trees with Michael Cera.
54:03Sometimes it's a young horse coming home,
54:07reminding you what life is all about.
54:10Thanks for spending the day with us.
54:13Come back next week.
54:14We'll be here.
54:15There's always something happening.
