Q.u.e.e.n of the Castle - Season 2 Episode 1 - Rosé Rodeo
Transcript
00:08Anne Catelyn Mulholland, along with her husband, Stephen, just purchased a castle for £11 million.
00:17It's beautiful!
00:19When I first bought an English medieval castle, I had no idea what I was really getting myself into.
00:26Oh my gosh.
00:28Everything had to be replaced. Electrical, the plumbing, the floorboards.
00:32This is a thousand years of neglect.
00:36But once the initial shock of the workload wore off, the magic began.
00:42Everything's happening all at once.
00:44Where do you want to add?
00:45Right here.
00:46This is a crap job you have.
00:48In no time, we turned an abandoned bistro into a buzzing community spot.
00:52Hot diggity dog, let's go.
00:54Go on.
00:55Look how bad this is.
00:58An overgrown swamp into a storybook-worthy ornamental garden.
01:02Let's go in.
01:03How cold is it going to be?
01:04Are you chicken?
01:05A dusty storage room into a breathtaking chapel.
01:09You may kiss the groom and bear rooms into future hotel suites.
01:14I'm not easily impressed, but this is cool.
01:19I have made some beautiful friendships in the community of Lim Village.
01:23Do you cheer when you have tea?
01:25Not normally.
01:26Oh, okay.
01:27What she's done here has been done so authentically.
01:30It's really kept the feel of the castle.
01:33Of course, none of this would have been possible without our incredible team and castle staff.
01:38Are you getting tired?
01:40That's all right.
01:40You said you'd be pressed to do it.
01:42Pressed for time.
01:43Pressed.
01:43Yeah, I know.
01:44Yeah, I get it.
01:44Okay.
01:45You look a bit extravagant.
01:46I'm dressing down for a job site.
01:48Many of whom, thankfully, are still by my side.
01:51Cheers to the Queen.
01:55It's been more than six months since we started our outdoor projects.
02:00We need bigger spaces for weddings and events.
02:04We haven't even finished what we've done there.
02:06Are you planning on helping me a little more?
02:09Absolutely.
02:09I plan on rolling up my sleeves, getting on my laptop, and staying out of your way.
02:14That's always been the best way that I can help you.
02:16So that's a no.
02:16That's a no?
02:17That is a absolutely yes.
02:21That's a no.
02:22All right, ladies!
02:26Our first event of the summer is going to be one for the books.
02:30It's going to be off the scale.
02:31Who does your Botox?
02:32Because you look absolutely not stressed.
02:34Who's going first?
02:35Santa!
02:37And between us, the craziest ideas are the ones I haven't told anyone about yet.
02:46Wow!
02:47I can't watch that.
02:48I can't watch that.
03:17There's lots to do and not enough hours in the day.
03:24The castle may be buzzing with activity, but what's happening with construction, that's another story.
03:41When I walk around the castle, I'm really worried about how far behind we're going to fall.
03:50I absolutely expected there would be more progress by now, but it's taken a long time with permissions and counsel
03:59and heritage.
04:14The plan and approval still hasn't been received.
04:18We've been trying to get approvals submitted for all the various things we want to get done in the castle,
04:23but unfortunately that includes a lot of reports, which has taken ages to get done.
04:28So now we have to cease until we get that formally approved.
04:32So we can't start construction work on the hotel rooms, stables, the event space.
04:38Yeah.
04:39What about the cafe?
04:40And the coffee shop, yeah.
04:41Phase two of construction, the hotel rooms, the event space, the farmer's market, the cafe, they've been put on hold
04:50indefinitely.
04:51This changes everything.
04:54The local authority council want us to put a formal application in, which we've now done.
04:59So we now have to wait for that time to run through.
05:03Nothing has been approved.
05:04So with the slight delays, as we discussed, there is an impact to the revenue of the business.
05:09Everything has been stopped.
05:11That would be the revenue stream that we need to get to make this castle at least break even.
05:16And the hotel, we won't have revenue.
05:17So we're taking a building that's never been used and utilised as a hotel, and we're turned into a hotel.
05:23Being a grade one listed, it's not just putting in a permit and hoping for it.
05:27It's putting into a planning department.
05:29They don't have to look at the history of the building and whether or not there's sections they're not allowed
05:33to change.
05:34And then they'll respond to us, but it just takes time.
05:37And we've got to make sure that the heritage are happy.
05:39How about I'm happy?
05:40And then I can make you happy, which I'm trying to do.
05:42To make me happy, we just have to do it, yes.
05:45So we can decorate the rooms?
05:46Yeah, yeah, so we can carry on with all that, while the other things are going through the very, very
05:51slow sausage machine that is the council.
05:54So we can decorate, but we can't build.
05:56You spent all this time just to tell me that nothing can be done but decorating.
06:00Yeah, okay.
06:01It could have been an email, couldn't it, really?
06:02Yeah.
06:03Due to an unexpected delay with the council approving some of the works, we've had to halt the works in
06:07that area, but it doesn't mean we're stopping.
06:09We're carrying on with the floors, the walls, the gardens themselves.
06:13Obviously, we want history tools here, so we've got to make the place compliant and safe for the public to
06:17come into.
06:17There's so much going on, so we've definitely got a busy few months ahead.
06:21We can wallpaper the cafe with all your submissions.
06:24You know who could do that?
06:25Yeah.
06:27I refuse to let the planning delays get me down.
06:30The first event of the summer is coming up fast, and I need to make this as spectacular as possible.
06:38Hey there.
06:39Hi.
06:40Hi, Anne.
06:41What's on your head?
06:42It's my hat.
06:43I wanted to be like you.
06:44It's England.
06:45Everyone wears a hat.
06:46Your birthday is coming up.
06:49I can't wait.
06:49My dear friend, Jana, it's her birthday, so I'd like to make sure she has a party she will never
06:55forget, and nobody else will forget either.
06:57What do you like?
06:59Well, pink.
07:00Pink.
07:00And I'm recently single, so how about a cowboy or two?
07:05So the brief is pink with a splash of cowboy.
07:08She joked about being single, but I don't joke about any of this.
07:12I just plan.
07:13Okay, I'll take it from there.
07:15Are you good with that?
07:16That'd be amazing.
07:17I'm going to pull out all the stops.
07:19Jana is no stranger to a good party, so it's going to take a lot to impress her.
07:23I just want your birthday to be the best.
07:26Thank you, Anne.
07:27Bye.
07:34All right, let's do this.
07:37My name's Mark, and I work for Typing Carpets.
07:41We've supplied carpets for Windsor Castle, the White House, so it's really the high end of the carpet world, if
07:48you like.
07:49This is our first design.
07:51You mentioned that you'd like to have some more pinks and blues.
07:54This is beautiful.
07:55I love it.
07:56Since we had to put the construction plans on hold, I'm going to completely level up my decorating plans and
08:02put them into full gear.
08:04People see stone walls.
08:06I see canvas.
08:07I'm talking about new murals, new carpets, new chandeliers, new drapes.
08:13Everything that can be redecorated will be redecorated, and it's going to be outrageous.
08:20This castle deserves a little drama because subtle isn't in my vocabulary.
08:26Oh, all right.
08:29This is the original coat of arms from the castle.
08:31Yeah, I remember you saying.
08:32I was digging around the old library when I came across this dusty plaque.
08:37It was the castle's original coat of arms, and I instantly thought, design inspiration.
08:44We tried to take certain elements and incorporate that into different carpets in different areas.
08:49Thank you for listening.
08:50You're welcome.
08:51These designs didn't happen overnight.
08:53They took months and months of sketches, samples, and multiple revisions.
08:59So, we've got the fleur-de-lis.
09:01We took out the leaf detail and added the fleur-de-lis here, which ties in.
09:06Light.
09:06The reception carpets, which is one of my favorites.
09:12You've got the coat of arms.
09:14They've got the lion, the fleur-de-lis, and the crown.
09:17Perfect.
09:18Initially, Mark was concerned my vision was too complex, but just because something's never
09:24been done before doesn't mean it's not possible.
09:28It's a lot of lists, but it's well worth it.
09:33So, I'm getting the drawings done now.
09:35We need to start production.
09:37Okay.
09:38And are they working around the clock?
09:40No.
09:41Well, I mean, it doesn't mean the same person, but is the factory going around?
09:44No, no.
09:45I've never worked with Anne before.
09:47She's very demanding, but she has a very particular vision of what she wants.
09:52I think these are yours.
09:53They are.
09:54Could you see anything?
09:55No, I couldn't see anything.
10:07So, this party, it's going to extend inside and outside.
10:11Okay.
10:12Hey, Tommy.
10:12Hi.
10:13Hello.
10:13Gardens look beautiful.
10:15Oh, nice.
10:16What exactly is the event?
10:18It's a birthday party for a girlfriend, but I want part of it to be outside.
10:22Okay.
10:23Last girls' trip that we hosted at the castle, that was bonkers.
10:37Oh, my God.
10:39I didn't even feel that.
10:42I believe this is going to be even more off the scale.
10:45It's one of the girls' birthdays, so they are going to be going crazy.
10:49It's Western themed, so everything is going to be cowboy boots, the whole thing.
10:53What else are we having to list?
10:55Some strippers.
10:57Okay.
10:58Not the guy stripping the floor, but stripping their clothes.
11:03And then we're going to have a dating game.
11:05Right.
11:06So, we need to find some very eligible bachelors.
11:10All pink themed.
11:12We've got pink flowers, pink tablecloths, everything's going to be pink.
11:15And then we have the pink mechanical bowl.
11:17A mechanical bowl?
11:18Yeah.
11:20No, that's what the event is.
11:21We're going to have a mechanical bowl.
11:22Let's call it the Rosé Rodeo.
11:24Oh, okay.
11:26So, it's going to be a pink mechanical bowl, and I picture it out on one of the lawns, and
11:30all the girls are going to be riding the bowl.
11:33I have absolutely no idea where I'm going to get a pink mechanical bowl from.
11:37Never had that before.
11:39So, if you can get those things?
11:41I'll do my best.
11:43I am so excited about the party.
11:45Jenna's going to be really surprised.
11:47She loves pink.
11:48She loves men.
11:50Lim Castle has no idea what's going to hit it.
11:53It's going to be off the scale.
11:54It's going to be.
11:55Well.
11:56Yeah.
11:57It's you, Anne.
11:58If I am honest, I am very, very nervous about this event.
12:01We need to get pink champagne.
12:03Yeah, pink champagne.
12:04Yeah.
12:04It's just going to be full on.
12:06Do I get to have a go?
12:08On the bowl?
12:09Yeah.
12:09Or the stripper?
12:10Oh.
12:17What I discussed with Susan was we're going to put the drapes,
12:21it will go right up to where the wood beam is coming down across there.
12:26Yep.
12:27A big part of my redecorating plans involves new theatrical and gorgeous drapes in the Great Hall.
12:34It's like full, full, full fabric, so it'll be two and a half pleat.
12:38Yes, like a double plate, yes.
12:40Yeah.
12:40Where do I start with the curtains in the Great Hall?
12:42It's a big production.
12:43If you get a big piece of oak up there that's in keeping with the rest of this, and we
12:47chemically
12:48anchor it into the stone, it'll stay there forever and deal with all the weight that's
12:51going to be on it.
12:52We want to show that arch up there, so we're going to really work with that.
12:57Yeah.
12:57And then work with the colors.
12:59I have a very specific vision for these drapes.
13:03The colors from the new carpets need to match perfectly, but with different fabrics.
13:08That's easier said than done.
13:11Curtains like this takes a special person to make them.
13:13Susan is brilliant.
13:14She's an artist.
13:15I trust her.
13:16And then how are you going to orchestrate putting this up?
13:20We're now changing the curtains to some really big, heavy drapes hanging on either side of
13:25the windows.
13:26About 100 kilos each, and that's like four bags of cement, which need some serious support.
13:31We have to get a mechanical scissor lift in it to get up that high.
13:33A mechanical scissor lift.
13:35A scissor lift.
13:35Yeah.
13:36Like scissors?
13:38Yeah.
13:38It's called a scissor lift.
13:39Like this kind of thing.
13:41Yeah.
13:41Okay.
13:42So it goes up high, so we're up and down a lot quicker.
13:46I don't get it, but go for it.
13:48So you can get this done in a week?
13:51No, we can't get it done in a week.
13:53You've got the lining done.
13:54Yes.
13:54So, yeah, we're doing the linings and the power mic boards and everything first, so...
13:59So that's a yes.
14:00Yes.
14:00Okay, next week.
14:01No.
14:09So this is not bad.
14:10I can tell what the carpet's going to look like.
14:12I received amazing news that my new designer carpets are ready, and the first installment
14:17is being delivered tomorrow.
14:19Why is this protection down?
14:21We put this down today to protect the floor.
14:23This floor's not finished.
14:25What do you mean the floor's not finished?
14:26It needs another coat of the varnish.
14:28The floor needs to be refurbed.
14:30It's never been treated properly.
14:31They've only ever put a wax on it, so it's become porous.
14:34So we've got...
14:35Because the carpet guys are coming tomorrow.
14:36They're coming tomorrow?
14:38Yeah.
14:39Tomorrow should have been next Monday.
14:41I was expecting another week.
14:43But the carpet's coming in tomorrow.
14:44Yeah.
14:45It's now turned out I've got 24 hours before the carpets start arriving.
14:49That itself is a problem.
14:50We have to get the floors finished.
14:57I was expecting another week.
14:59The carpet's coming in tomorrow.
14:59Yeah.
15:00It's now turned out I've got 24 hours before the carpets start arriving.
15:04Okay.
15:04So, yeah.
15:05Okay.
15:06We were expecting another week.
15:07So, you'll have to work through the evening into the night and finish the floor varnish,
15:12and carpets can go down tomorrow afternoon.
15:15We're already on the back foot here, but the fact of the matter is I'm getting used to working with
15:19Anne.
15:20If you give me eight days, I know I've got about three.
15:22So I try and build in risk factor to everything that Anne tasks.
15:28It's manageable, but it stresses the situation.
15:31So, although we thought we had till next Monday for the carpets arriving,
15:34tomorrow morning, we've got the carpets arriving for here.
15:38There's one for the Great Hall.
15:39There's two for the reception and the stairs.
15:42Yeah.
15:43You're going to take care of it all.
15:44It's a push, but everything's a push, isn't it?
15:46You call it a push.
15:47I call it on time.
15:49Yeah.
15:49Okay.
15:57We're really up against time with this one.
16:00So we're going to be working through the night feverishly.
16:04We have to essentially do about a week's worth of work, 24 hours, maybe even less.
16:10So we've got a lot to get going.
16:11We want to make sure that we're not working beneath the carpet guys, that's for sure.
16:57Good morning.
17:00We want to make sure that we're going to be able to do this.
17:01Yep.
17:01So that's straight ahead.
17:02Okay.
17:02We should have everything installed by the weekend.
17:05So literally, it's this room here.
17:06So if we just come in and then lay it straight down.
17:09Yeah.
17:09Perfect.
17:10Perfect.
17:10Yep.
17:11Yep.
17:12We just walk forward.
17:13How are we doing?
17:16Do you want to roll it out and see where it lands?
17:19Yeah.
17:20Do it.
17:20It's a little sense of achievement that we've delivered something.
17:23And the value and the effort that have been put into the rugs.
17:27It's, I'm not an emotional person, but to see it go down, it's phenomenal.
17:31Perfect.
17:31That's stunning, man.
17:43Oh, hi there.
17:44My name's Kate.
17:45I'm calling from Lim Castle.
17:46I've seen on your website that you hire out a stretch limo.
17:50We need it to accommodate ten ladies if possible.
17:53And we do need it to be pink.
17:55Preparation has started for the Rose Rodeo.
17:57There is quite a lot of unique items required for this particular event.
18:01Everything literally has to be pink.
18:04We're doing an event and we need lots and lots of hay bales.
18:08We need a mechanical ball.
18:11Hi there.
18:12I wonder if you can help.
18:14You've got the third company that I've called today, so I'm really hoping that's possible.
18:18Not too unique to find the mechanical ball, but the fact it's got to be pink is proving quite difficult.
18:23Oh, okay, so it's just normal coloured ball then.
18:26So we can put some kind of pink cloth and stuff over it and that would be okay.
18:31Events like this are going to be fun, but it is a lot of work for the team to organise.
18:36Covering the whole of the castle, this event is going to be, so it's a lot of moving parts.
18:52Tony.
18:53Hey.
18:54Good morning, Anne.
18:54I just wanted to say hi on your first day.
18:58There's been some big changes at the castle.
19:00Unfortunately, our beloved chef Louisa is overseas all summer.
19:05And we've just brought on an incredible new head chef at the castle, Tony, who will be managing the food
19:11for all of our restaurants and events.
19:14I cannot say how excited I am to have you here.
19:17So I've just joined Lim Castle in its very early stages, so I've been employed to bring it up to
19:24a good standard.
19:25I've been working as a professional chef now for over 30 years in places like Leeds Castle.
19:30I've heard about Lim Castle and I've just jumped to this opportunity.
19:33We have an event in a couple of days.
19:35Yes.
19:36It's a girl's birthday.
19:37How many for?
19:39Just ten.
19:40And so we have the appetiser, then the entree.
19:44Not too much on the plate.
19:46Clean.
19:46Yeah.
19:47I'd like to have the dessert serve sort of avant-garde kind of dessert.
19:51And they're fun girls.
19:52Yes.
19:52So we want to have...
19:53Some flair in there.
19:54Some flair in there.
19:56It's got to have some flair, but it'll be reined in a little bit.
19:59So it's...
20:00Yes.
20:00A lot of contradictions, but...
20:02Yes.
20:04So hopefully I've got the brief right there.
20:06So every single dish has to look like, wow.
20:11Tony's references state that he's very, very good.
20:14So let's see, can he deliver Michelin star quality?
20:18We've got a big challenger, and it's a tight challenger.
20:21How many days did you say?
20:22Three days.
20:22Yeah.
20:23Yes.
20:23Three days.
20:24Yeah.
20:25Three days.
20:25So yes, we'll get straight on that.
20:27I'm really excited that you've joined the team.
20:30Really look forward to seeing everything.
20:31Thank you very much.
20:32Photograph, picture, perfect.
20:34Of course.
20:34Now who does your Botox?
20:36Because you look absolutely not stressed.
20:38Thank you, Anne.
20:40Learners, I've got a good background to fall back on.
20:42And a good team, I hope, in there that's ready for the challenge.
20:47Tony.
20:47Hello.
20:48Oh.
20:50What have you done?
20:53All right, see.
21:02Carpets are finally in.
21:03You know, the pressure was on to get them in, but we've delivered.
21:06We know they're going to now be down and ready for Anne C and ready for the first event.
21:15And I've got to show you the carpets.
21:16You rolled out the carpet.
21:17We've rolled it out for you.
21:19Seeing the carpets roll out for the first time, especially this one in the reception,
21:22is just absolutely phenomenal.
21:24Right.
21:24They are stunning.
21:25Everything, all of the samples.
21:27We're coming from you, because you're always concerned about every delivery, so...
21:30I'll guide you in.
21:31Do not open your eyes until I tell you.
21:33I think she's going to come in and see it, and actually see that all of the pressure that
21:37she's put under, and all the pressure we have with each other to deliver, it's another
21:41part of her vision coming into focus and coming into reality.
21:45All right.
21:46All right.
21:46Three, two, one.
21:47Now?
21:48Yeah.
21:49Oh, my God.
21:50Oh!
21:51Look at that!
21:52Wow.
21:53It's beautiful.
21:54That's the coat of arms?
21:56Yeah, it's the coat of arms of the castle.
21:57Wow, it's perfect.
21:57And it's got your crown, so it's designed the way you wanted it.
22:00I've just seen the carpets, and they are better than I imagined.
22:04It's so perfect, so beautiful.
22:05I don't even want to walk on them.
22:07It's so gorgeous.
22:07But the intricacy of the coat of arms blows me away, because they were concerned.
22:13It was just too intricate to make it look good.
22:16It's perfect.
22:17They're still putting them in place.
22:19They're fixing them from the anti-slip.
22:21Right.
22:21But they are stunning.
22:22Oh, my God.
22:23Don't walk on them.
22:24No, I won't.
22:25Shoes off.
22:26Furniture we had in here is too dark for this rug and the walls.
22:30Yeah, but we're going to lighten it with the curtains.
22:33And this is all woven.
22:35Yeah.
22:36Those are pink.
22:41I thought they were orange.
22:42I've ordered orange drapes.
22:47Holy cow.
22:49For the...
22:49For Sue?
22:50For the curtains?
22:51Yes.
22:52Yeah.
22:52I've ordered the curtains in the wrong colours.
22:57Okay.
22:57Do we need to get Sue in...
22:59Should we get...
23:00I've got to contact her.
23:01Okay.
23:01Okay.
23:02This is like a big rut roll.
23:05Hi, Susan.
23:06Hi.
23:07I've just seen the carpet rolled out and they're the wrong colour.
23:10And they're not the ones of the samples that we looked at.
23:12And do you mind...
23:13Can you bring the samples down?
23:16Yes.
23:17Okie dokie.
23:17You don't want a mistake, do you?
23:19No.
23:19If you can come off in a little while, that'd be great.
23:22Okay.
23:22That's a 130,000 pound mistake if I get the colour wrong.
23:35I don't know why they don't have door knobs.
23:37I guess they're overrated.
23:38Oh.
23:40I haven't seen it in here.
23:42It's stunning.
23:43Fabulous.
23:44When I saw the new carpet, I realised the curtains might not match.
23:48A costly mistake.
23:51Susan's here with the actual fabric samples, so I'm praying they work.
23:56Where's the colours?
23:57This is the fabric.
24:00Oh, okay.
24:01That's beautiful.
24:03And that actually blends.
24:05So that is going.
24:07There is a rust colour within it.
24:09Yes.
24:10Because I was seeing pink.
24:12Yes.
24:12But this is actually good.
24:15It is like a salmon pink, but there are quite a few variations of rusts and pinks.
24:21Yeah.
24:21This does go.
24:23Yes.
24:23Okay.
24:24This isn't as bad as I thought it was.
24:26That's a relief.
24:28Grace is averted.
24:29Yes.
24:30Yes.
24:31Yes.
24:33Alright.
24:33Good.
24:34So this is for the Rosé Rodeo event.
24:36We've got a bunch of girls coming and cowboy theme, pink, fun, howdy, all that stuff.
24:42Howdy.
24:43We've been tasked with sorting through everything, getting it all ready for the ladies when they
24:48come to the castle.
24:49Lots of pink.
24:51Yeah.
24:51There's a lot to get through.
24:53Anne's deliveries are intense.
24:58Nothing.
24:59Ooh.
25:00We've got pink cowboy hat, heart-shaped sunglasses, there's inflatable hobby horses.
25:10Also, pink dressing gowns.
25:13Ooh.
25:14I think you'd look really nice in there.
25:16I think that's for the men.
25:18Apparently, one of the ladies who's coming is single.
25:21So, Anne sees herself as a bit of a matchmaker and we've got some games.
25:25Likewise.
25:27Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the speed dating.
25:31You singletons are about to find love.
25:34Oh, good God.
25:37I think the event's going to be go, go, go.
25:40As soon as those ladies get there, they're going to want to let their hair down.
25:43I mean, I'm ready for it.
25:54What are you doing?
25:55We're just getting ready for the rodeo.
25:57What are you making?
25:58Well, we're just going to do some garlic prawns.
26:00We want to give it a little splash of colour of these.
26:02Garlic prawn?
26:03Is that okay?
26:04Yeah.
26:05How are you going to plate it?
26:06So, we've got these nice plates, these nice little round ones here for the starters.
26:10How are you going to serve it, though?
26:11Just three of those nice prawns on the plate there with the garlic butter on top.
26:15It's not going to look like an avant-garde Michelin star restaurant when you've got three prawns on the plate.
26:22Add something that sort of sits the prawns up or puts foam or something under it.
26:27The look has to look like I want to dive into that.
26:29How about we scrap that completely?
26:32No prawns?
26:33No.
26:34Maybe go with scallops and we can smoke them.
26:36We can add some theatre under a cloche if you'd like.
26:40What's a cloche?
26:41A cloche.
26:42It's a nice little glass dome.
26:44So you'll be able to see the food.
26:47Man is after a big wow factor with this menu.
26:49Let loose.
26:50Let's just take it to another level.
26:52Having a top-notch chef is so important.
26:54Let's just hope Tony has the necessary skills to pull this off.
26:59Like this level.
27:01Yes.
27:14The girls are on their way here for the Rosé Rodeo and the staff are working hard to get every
27:20detail right.
27:22Yeah.
27:23I mean, okay.
27:26Yeah?
27:26Yeah, fine.
27:27That's nice.
27:27I'll allow it.
27:29Kate couldn't find a pink mechanical bowl.
27:31But Ellie and Georgie have a pink makeover planned.
27:35Okay.
27:36Beauty.
27:38This is our first event of the summer and it's setting the tone for the whole season.
27:42So it has to be flawless.
27:45This candle is crooked slightly.
27:48Yep.
27:48Flowers are not good to have on the plate because when they sit down what do they do with the
27:52flowers?
27:53Okay.
27:54Do you mind just positioning them somewhere like that kind of thing?
27:57Okay, sure.
27:57The glasses make sure that they keep them topped up.
28:01Yes.
28:01And make sure that the plates are removed.
28:04Yep.
28:04No problem.
28:05Yeah, thank you.
28:06See you soon.
28:18I think that's them.
28:20I think so.
28:21All right ladies!
28:24Happy birthday!
28:25Happy birthday!
28:26Happy birthday!
28:27Happy birthday!
28:27Happy birthday!
28:28Happy birthday!
28:29Happy birthday!
28:29Thank you for having us.
28:31I am so excited for the ladies to get here.
28:34It's Jenna's birthday and I have so many surprises for her.
28:37The ladies don't know what's in store but it's going to be over the top and very, very pink.
28:58Ladies be on your best behavior
29:06Beyond excited to be here
29:08I mean we're here to celebrate such a very special girl
29:11Janet's for a very special birthday
29:15Like I'm ready to have some fun
29:18And it's just the beginning
29:20Just getting started
29:26Very convenient
29:27Is there a cowboy under here?
29:31Whoop whoop whoop
29:40So we're just reworking the menu now
29:42With Anne her main focus is on the style of the food
29:45And what it looks like
29:47Whereas my first preference is always what it tastes like
29:49This is going to be a new challenge
29:51So we're going to have to make sure everything
29:52Gives up to Anne's expectations
29:54I'm just hoping Anne's going to be happy with all the changes
29:56We're making because there's not any time to make any more
30:03Ladies welcome to the rosé rodeo
30:15What better way to start a classy girls party than with bruises and bragging rights
30:20Those girls are going to get on the bowl
30:22Let's see how long they last
30:24Oh snap
30:25I'm not getting on that bowl
30:26Have you done that before?
30:29I'm not going to lie
30:30I've done it before
30:31Do we need to do like a stretch or something?
30:33I don't know
30:35It's going to be rosé rodeo fun
30:38Yeehaw
30:39Who's going first?
30:41Santa!
30:45I suppose I'm concerned we're a bunch of princesses
30:49You know what can go wrong
31:01I feared for a lot of their safety
31:03A couple of the ladies fell down
31:05And they took a while getting back up
31:15I'm okay
31:18I'm okay
31:19None of them are quite proud
31:25I'm getting on the bowl
31:27I'm getting on the bowl
31:31It was a real rodeo
31:34Have you ever been to a rodeo?
31:39No but I imagine that's exactly what it's like
31:42An! An! An! An! An! Why?
31:49Ooh!
31:51Ah!
31:57That's not her pretty
32:00That's not
32:00But I mean she's the queen
32:02Queen! Ah!
32:09We are in it.
32:10Yay!
32:17The dating game's almost set up and ready to go.
32:20We don't know how this dating game's going to go.
32:22Could be a train wreck, could be good.
32:2450-50.
32:25But we do know for a fact that Anne has picked three suitors for the birthday girl.
32:29That will be her birthday surprise.
32:32Right, ladies, are we ready to line dance?
32:34Yeah!
32:36After the rodeo, I have arranged for some ladies to teach line dancing.
32:41Heel, heel.
32:42Heel.
32:42Then out, hit, out, hit.
32:47Grapevine to the right.
32:48Two, three, four, turn.
32:51Good.
32:52I'm going the wrong way, sorry.
32:54Well, you know the two-step.
32:55I would say they could probably only do two steps.
33:00Wait, is that right foot or left foot?
33:02Those girls are like, are they going to keep going?
33:04Because I'm adding more in the turns, I'm like, oh no.
33:07And then they turn the three, four, turn.
33:10My dancing was interesting.
33:12I thought I would be more coordinated.
33:16This is like really fast.
33:18I was a little bit wobbly.
33:19Maybe it's the bull riding.
33:20I'm much better at riding bulls, ladies.
33:22That was so fun.
33:23Yeah, that was perfect.
33:24That was fun.
33:25That was fun.
33:32Jana's recently single, and what do you get?
33:35A girl for her birthday.
33:37Men.
33:37Yes.
33:39Jana said she was single and ready to mingle.
33:42So I decided to throw a few eligible cowboys into the mix.
33:46And Simon, our driver, just to keep things interesting.
33:51Souter 1, what would you plan for our first date?
33:55Um, it's summer.
33:57Oh.
33:58Therefore.
34:00I've been single, but I've never actually dated.
34:03Ever.
34:03We're living together.
34:05What's the first thing you do when you get home?
34:08First thing I do, apart from you, is...
34:11I'm just like a relationship person, so I go from one relationship to another.
34:15And those are questions I've never even asked a man before.
34:18What would you get me for our first year anniversary?
34:21It's a nice cup of tea.
34:24Okay.
34:25All right.
34:28I now know what a gladiator felt like in the Coliseum.
34:33Ridiculous.
34:34Good times, good times.
34:37Jana, you've asked all your questions.
34:39Number one.
34:43I just got to meet, like, this handsome new man.
34:47Happy birthday to me.
34:51Bye, y'all.
34:53The accent did not hurt.
35:03So I'm very confident with the menu now after the rework.
35:05I just hope Anne and the guests are going to like it.
35:07Just want to, yeah, get a bit loose.
35:10This job means a lot to me at the castle.
35:13I'm quite worried about getting this menu right.
35:17Just hope Anne thinks I'm the right chef for the job.
35:28This way.
35:32This is your birthday.
35:35Oh, my God.
35:37Wow.
35:38Wow.
35:41Wow.
35:44Oh, happy birthday.
35:51Walking into dinner, I was overwhelmed by the beauty and the flowers and the thought
35:56and the intention to detail, and I got emotional just because I know how much thought that takes.
36:02It's gorgeous.
36:04All the pink flowers.
36:06Anne has every single detail, all the way to Jana's favorite flowers.
36:12Oh, thank you.
36:13Don't cry.
36:14I ruined you.
36:15Right, I know.
36:16Your mascara, is it waterproof?
36:17No.
36:18I think Jana was overwhelmed.
36:20She did not expect something so pink, so many flowers.
36:24She was surprised.
36:26I'm, like, speechless right now.
36:28This is the most beautiful thing that anyone's ever done for me in my entire life.
36:32I love you.
36:33I mean, I've got all my best girlfriends who traveled across the world to come be here with me.
36:38I don't celebrate my birthday, so this is my first birthday party ever since probably I was, like, 10 years
36:43old.
36:43I can't wait to get married here.
36:47Souter number one.
36:48Souter number one.
36:49I wonder who's going to be in that cake.
36:52Yeah.
36:53Why do you think there's someone in there?
36:55I think that night's a long time.
36:57I'm hoping Souter number one.
36:59Oh, yes.
37:03I might have to roll her over.
37:05Anne is very particular with her presentation, and she's got very high standards when it comes to that.
37:09So we need something else in there, don't we?
37:11With this beetroot salad, I've got some nice whipped coach cheese, and the beetroots are from the garden.
37:17Just got a hope and approved it.
37:19Yes, that's it.
37:24Oh, wow.
37:26Oh, interesting.
37:27And it's so gritty.
37:29I've got some cheese before.
37:32Oh, my goodness.
37:33The meal is one of the most epic things.
37:35I think I moaned more at that dinner than I have in a very, very long time.
37:40I'm a very happy girl right now.
37:46Hopefully they fit one of the way around.
37:48Otherwise I'm going to look silly.
37:50Anne is after elegance and flair with this menu.
37:52So we've added some smoke to the scallop dish to give her a big wow factor.
37:55We just hope Anne is going to be impressed with that.
37:58All right, so there's that job.
37:59I'm glad that one's out of the way.
38:02Beautiful.
38:02Thank you so much.
38:03It smells already.
38:05Yeah, there's a new chef.
38:06My request was visually perfect.
38:09We're ready.
38:10Oh, wow.
38:13Nice.
38:13Beautiful.
38:15I'm a big foodie.
38:17I loved every little bit, and it kind of showed because I was the first one to finish.
38:21Every single plate.
38:24Not that I want to admit that, but, you know, there was room for more.
38:31We're going to go for a Roche sort of style.
38:35Man's after an avant-garde dessert, and with this one, it's my fail-safe, and it's always a crowd pleaser.
38:41Oh, yeah.
38:43Cheers.
38:44Oh, yeah.
38:45There we go.
38:46Oh, yeah.
38:47Here's the dessert thing.
38:49This food is so good.
38:58I mean, what's a girls' party if you don't have a few strippers?
39:08I'm okay.
39:09I'm okay.
39:17Oh, yeah.
39:20There we go.
39:20Yeah.
39:21It was, uh...
39:23It was a lot.
39:24And...
39:25I can't watch that.
39:32I'm having a great day.
39:33I mean, we're at the castle.
39:35I'm with all my best friends.
39:36The men are the icing on the cake, I guess.
39:40It's like the best birthday ever.
39:42For reals.
39:43That's it?
39:48I'm so thrilled Jana loved her birthday party.
39:51Here's to Jana.
39:55Thank you so much for your hospitality.
40:02This is exactly what I want Lim Castle to be known for.
40:06All right, let's go.
40:09Bespoke, unforgettable events that create memories that last a lifetime.
40:14I'm moving in.
40:15Okay, let's go in the front door.
40:16I would definitely want to do this every single year for a girls' trip.
40:21Oh, this was a dream.
40:23This is a core memory.
40:25Thank you for the most epic birthday party.
40:29Now we have to come back next year.
40:55I think there's going to be some sore heads this morning.
40:58I think that's one of the strippers' outfits, isn't it?
41:02There was...
41:03Stripper clothing.
41:05Yeah.
41:06It was a bombsite.
41:08A stripper bombsite.
41:09Ladies.
41:10Oh, God.
41:11Oh, I've ripped it.
41:12You've ruined that for me.
41:14The public needed to be in real soon this morning, so it was a race against time to get that
41:19place looking like it should be.
41:30I wanted to talk to you about the Rosé Rodeo.
41:35Okay.
41:38Everything was perfect.
41:40That's really good to hear.
41:41I'm happy to get that rodeo out of the way now, and I haven't been fired yet, so I'm feeling
41:46very relieved.
41:47Thanks for everything.
41:48No, no.
41:49We met Anne's high expectations, and now going forward, we know what to expect.
42:00The first event of the summer has been a smashing success.
42:04Waiting on Heritage and the Council to approve Phase 2 of construction, that's been frustrating.
42:09The silver lining is it's given me the time to put my energy into my decor plans.
42:15Like the stunning new carpets, it's soft.
42:19And the gorgeous drapes in the Great Hall.
42:22Oh, wow.
42:24This summer is going to be bigger.
42:27This is gorgeous.
42:28We are finally getting things approved.
42:30You're getting good at this.
42:31They're still tacky, yeah.
42:33Well, they're not tacky.
42:33They're elegant.
42:34Bolder.
42:36Okay, but look the other way.
42:37I don't have underwear on.
42:38And more extravagant than ever.
42:43With a calendar full of over-the-top parties.
42:46Let's go!
42:47How's it going?
42:49And show-stopping celebrations.
42:52I'm so excited.
42:54Yeah.
42:54Let's break the runway.
42:55Bit by bit, Lim Castle is becoming exactly what I pictured.
43:01This is stunning.
43:03Fabulous.
43:03Me know.
43:05jeweils.
43:09But...침...
43:11wouldn't
43:12play to be la sentence. What if?
43:12No. No.
43:28I know.
43:30I know.
43:32I know.
