00:00Lawyers representing Naima Khalid, the widow of former Finance Minister Daib Zainuddin,
00:06have rejected police claims that she and her sons were uncontactable during an investigation
00:11into an alleged plot to topple the government.
00:14The law firm Rajan Saj said legal counsel responded on the same day the police notice was received
00:21and that their clients remained fully uncontactable and cooperative through their lawyers.
00:26They said statements by the federal police had created a misleading impression
00:31about their clients' level of cooperation with investigators.
00:35The lawyers also criticized the investigation under Section 124B of the Penal Code,
00:41saying it was based on allegations made by a former employee who had been dismissed from Naima's team.
00:49Earlier, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director M Kumar said police had been trying to
00:55contact Naima since the probe began and that immigration records showed she and her sons were not in the country.
01:02Naima has denied any involvement in attempts to destabilize the government,
01:07describing the allegations as false and claiming the police report was lodged by a disgruntled former team member.
01:15Last month, a Kuala Lumpur magistrate's court issued arrest warrants for her sons,
01:20Amir and Amin Zainuddin Daim after they failed to appear at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters
01:27to provide statements.
