00:00Miles Garrett has been traded to the Los Angeles Rams in one of the most blockbuster deals in the history
00:05of the National Football League, where not only is Miles Garrett obviously a massive name moving here, Jared Verse going
00:12back to Cleveland is a huge part of this deal.
00:16And so again, I'm just trying to collect my thoughts a little bit on all of this. And I admittedly,
00:23there is some level of hesitation I have for the Rams in just that today, Miles Garrett is better than
00:30Jared Verse. Next season, will Miles Garrett be better than Jared Verse? I'd say yes. In two years, will he
00:41be better?
00:41So first season, second season, edge Miles Garrett. So the third season is where that pendulum could start to swing
00:50a little bit. J.J. Watt is a three-time defensive player of the year and another all-time great
00:56first ballot Hall of Famer. He did not play past the age of 33.
01:01Now, if you want to say that J.J. dealt with some injuries earlier in his career in a way
01:08that Miles did not, and those concerns aren't as fair to put on Miles, I hear you, but guys don't
01:15play forever.
01:16I mean, right now people are dealing with will Aaron Donald un-retire rumors. So to me, the Rams have
01:24made a deal as if the league won't exist after this season.
01:34That to me is almost a thought process, Joe. Everything else will, it doesn't matter. Can we win? They host
01:41the Super Bowl this year. It's, I believe, in SoFi.
01:44Can we win the Super Bowl right here, right now? That to me is what I believe the LA Rams
01:51are after, and I appreciate that.
01:55It doesn't mean that there cannot be some risk or downfalls in that plan. I don't think many of us
02:07would see Miles Garrett replacing Jared Verse.
02:13And again, I might be on an island here, Joe. Please tell me that it is such a far and
02:21away upgrade.
02:23Like, the Rams were already 7-1. They're down to 6-1. Now it's down to plus 550. I mean,
02:29maybe so. I don't know.
02:30Where are you at on this, Joe? I'm starting on the Rams side of it. I love the aggressiveness.
02:37I'm not running to give this, you know, some A-plus grade, though, on the decision here.
02:43No, but let me ask you this, Kevin. What if, to your point, you bring up Aaron Donald?
02:49Is this like one last shot to maybe get Aaron Donald out of the couch and onto a football field?
02:56I mean, you know, knowing that he can play alongside Miles Garrett, it's a veteran team, and knowing that what
03:03you have on the offensive side of the ball, you have one of the most explosive offenses.
03:07You have a veteran quarterback that's already a Super Bowl winner. You have multiple players from a locker room perspective
03:14that are bought in.
03:16So that's it. One last ride, right? It's almost like Michael Jordan back in the day.
03:20I mean, I'm just saying, like, you talk about this team with Sean McVay, there is no tomorrow.
03:27It's boom or bust, Super Bowl or bust now. I mean, there is no, hey, we go 10-7, and
03:33we limp into the playoffs.
03:35No, they're going to be favored in almost every game going forward, Kevin.
03:40Yeah, no, they are, Joe. I mean, again, right now in the Super Bowl market, the Rams are in a
03:47class of their own.
03:49Plus 550, the next numbers are, you know, 10-1. They are in an absolute class of their own.
03:56And I'll tell you another thing. There's a real gap between the Rams and the rest of this NFC.
04:03Again, it's one book, plus 550 Rams, 11-1 Seattle, 17-1 San Francisco, 18-1 Detroit, 19-1 Philadelphia.
04:15I mean, they are, you know, we go to the conference market, Joe, plus 310 Rams, plus 550 Seattle, plus
04:24850 Niners Lions.
04:26So they are almost half of the next closest team to them and well more than half of everybody else
04:34in this conference.
04:35So I think for the Rams, if they win the Super Bowl, quite honestly, I don't think they care if
04:46at the end of it, Stafford retires, Garrett retires, McVay, that will be a disaster, but they might be setting
04:58themselves up for it.
05:00Again, McVay considering retirement about three years ago, that's going to be a question the rest of his career.
05:07So they've pushed all in.
