00:00Joe, let me ask you this, because you and I did go back and forth quite a bit on the
00:05thought of Cleveland sending out Miles.
00:09The return is always going to make the difference, but I feel as if you were a bit agnostic towards
00:15caring what the return was.
00:18How do you feel seeing Cleveland actually deal Miles Garrett here?
00:22Well, no, my reaction, Kevin, is when we broke it down, it was Miles Garrett for draft picks.
00:30Right. And that's where I had I pushed back and said, you know, you're talking about an all pro, the
00:36most dominant defensive edge rusher over the last three or four seasons.
00:40And you're hoping to draft a player of that type of caliber.
00:45But now the fact that they get a veteran that's already produced on the football field and is young in
00:52his career, I think it's a win for the Cleveland Browns.
00:55It's not like Jared versus an injury prone edge rusher that hasn't stepped up.
01:00He's been one of the most dominant players on that defense for the L.A. Rams.
01:04He was an all pro rookie his first season in L.A.
01:08And he stepped up and he's produced.
01:10And now they get 2027 draft capital, either offensively or defensively to solidify needs.
01:18And that's important. The fact that they were just going to ship out Miles Garrett, get nothing in return and
01:24hope to draft, they'd be stuck in neutral for the next three or four seasons.
01:29It's a win for Cleveland because from like I say, you look at it from a productivity standpoint.
01:34What did he have? Twenty three and a half sacks last year.
01:37When you when you're hoping to draft that, you go right down potentially to what?
01:42Five. But now you have Jared verse that's already produced at an elite level.
01:47Now you're getting back eighty five, ninety percent of the productivity.
01:52You're not losing all that much.
01:53And oh, by the way, you're picking up a first round draft pick.
01:56So that's where it's a win for Cleveland.
01:58It would have been a loss if they were just going to draft younger first year guys hoping to make
02:04up for the sack leader in 2026.
02:07It puts a lot of pressure on verse, but pressure.
02:12I think he is fine with.
02:17Assuming this does not have a negative impact on his mindset.
02:24It is going.
02:26Dad verse just went from the Super Bowl favorites to the Cleveland Browns.
02:30That's what just happened.
02:32OK, Jared verse last year played in the NFC championship.
02:36Game and the season before that played the eventual Super Bowl champions in the NFC divisional round in a game
02:45that a lot of people thought the Rams could have won.
02:46And if they did, maybe they would have gone on to win the Super Bowl.
02:50So, if Jared verse can not just handle that transition, but take it and turn it into a fuel.
03:02Fuel.
03:04I.
03:06I like the Browns wanting back the player, right?
03:12Because, Joe, the alternative is essentially, Joe.
03:17They were going to always get the 2027 first, right?
03:21So would you rather.
03:23Jared verse.
03:26Or a 28 and 29, I guess, is how that would work.
03:29Rams first round picks.
03:31Yeah, maybe they're going to be terrible, but, you know, it's kind of the.
03:35It's should I take the car or the box?
03:37Anything could be in the box.
03:39What if it's a car, right?
03:40Like you're hoping to draft a guy as good as.
03:45Jared versus at a really young age.
03:47You are going to eventually have to pay verse.
03:49But I think that's okay.
03:51You have time to get that under its, you know, under the belt.
03:53But.
03:54The.
03:55It does put a lot of pressure also on Cleveland, Joe.
03:58In that.
04:01When you draft.
04:03When you.
04:03When you trade Miles Garrett out for all picks.
04:06Right.
04:08No one.
04:10For like three or four picks.
04:12No one guy is going to determine.
04:16The.
04:16It's not going to be a one-to-one comparison.
04:19Verse has to be great.
04:21Verse has to be a multi-time all pro now.
04:24Or this is a very bad job out of Cleveland because they could have got draft picks.
04:28Right.
04:28So verse has to deliver.
04:30But I think he will.
04:31I think you and I agree on that.
04:33And.
04:34I think for Cleveland.
04:37You.
04:40You have to really.
04:41I think now, Joe, for me at least.
04:44Wouldn't you say love your regime?
04:46The Munk and Barry pairing.
04:49Doesn't that have to be it?
04:50Like, I think some of us thought Munk and would be a look over, but.
04:54You know, they're going to head into this 2027 draft.
04:58They're likely going to be aiming for a quarterback.
05:02But you're letting, you know, Barry pull the strings.
05:05Are you really going to allow him to make this deal and move on?
05:08I don't think so.
05:09Is he going to look to fire Munk and after one year?
05:11Probably not.
05:11So Cleveland might have what they hope is their, you know, leadership group for the foreseeable future.
05:19Yeah.
