00:00Hello there my very good friends on today's wrestling news we analyze
00:03AEW's lackluster women's division booking WWE have been destroying evidence
00:09we finally have some clarity on Brock Lesnar's retirement
00:12and Seth Rollins admits that fans got bored of him as a babyface
00:17I'm Adam Wilborn I'm Andy H Murray the H stands for Hollis
00:20PC Reg Hollis This is the news
00:23All right what year is it 2020 2021 2019 because we're here to talk about the
00:29AW women's division and specifically is booking
00:31because last night's dynamite collision block was
00:35quite something with regards to uh lack of action
00:40really uh I've got a bunch of things I'm going to read off to you
00:43You got some data yeah I got some data so we got we had a couple of matches to be
00:48fair across I mean to be fair sounds like you
00:51let it off the hook but you had women's tag team action with Anna Jay and Ty Mello
00:55very short squash match yeah technically the night's main event as
00:58well was Hikaru Shida Chris Statlander in a lights out kind of street fight type
01:01deal which was excellent by the way like a really great match
01:05um so technically that's kind of the main event it's
01:07it's lights out it goes last every time that's how it operates
01:10uh but how long Adam did it take I know you do this on the podcast obviously
01:16uh with ladies night a gimmick how long did it take for the first women's
01:20match to materialize on this three-hour show I'd go at bare minimum
01:24because I haven't checked uh the uh
01:28panda blair's data just yet so I'm going by my AEW to clarify
01:32I'll go 90 minutes now it was one hour and 47 minutes
01:36so 107 minutes there chief um not only that but that obviously that was a very
01:42short match like 71 seconds which contextually is fun like that should have
01:47been a short match right because it was a squash and they're they're doing the
01:50the thing where they're they're going to challenge uh divine dominion who are
01:53also doing short matches with their five minute gimmick so that match being
01:57short is not a problem it's the positioning and the lack of other stuff on
02:00the show so not only that not only did you get
02:03that but you didn't get an update on the tbs title
02:05right willow's been out for a couple of weeks now
02:07still nothing would that happen with the tnt title no this is it we're getting that
02:11on collision on saturday there's another collision on saturday so my
02:14my heart is full uh but we're getting that the weekend there was no owing
02:17cup match owing heart cup match yeah that's a good point and look we're
02:20giving asterisks is all over the place right but persephone and sari are
02:24overcoming injuries maybe that held them up we're getting alex windsor in the
02:29wild card next week i'm really looking forward to that but it's 20 26 we're seven
02:36years into AEW and uh the the booking of this division is still it's just not up to
02:43scratch i don't think for 20 26 so like here's the thing it's not like this
02:49roster is lacking in like this is a they've got an insane collection of
02:54women right so you can't excuse this away with injuries to tony storm and
02:57willow knight no no and our mercedes not being around because you've still got
03:01chris statlander and she's on the show you still got hikaru shida
03:04uh you've got megan bane lean across alex winter jamie hater uh
03:08afina yuka sakasaki thunder rosa thunder rosa uh tecla there's no way she wasn't
03:13even on the show she's world champion she just defended the title you got sky
03:16blue you got so many names you got billy starks who you could who you can use on
03:20dynamite whenever you want you got new you know they've got no shortage of of
03:25talented individuals who you could just put on tv and meaningful programs and it
03:30would probably connect and probably be pretty badass
03:33uh it's it's just kind of insane to me that we're still here seven years in
03:38and we're still having these same conversations because last night was a
03:41particularly galling one yeah and i think the talent is there to do more with
03:45them yeah i mean you you mentioned our ladies night gimmick from the podcast and
03:49that is a fun game we like to play where we try and guess where the
03:51one women's match is going to go down on aew dynamite
03:55um and yes it's a fun game but it is also emblematic the fact that we've played that
04:01game for i think five or six years now yeah and there have been odd exceptions
04:06there's been in the odd show where maybe a women's match goes in the first
04:10hour or they have two women's matches but one of them's a squash it's always a
04:13squash um yeah i just think it's it seems to be a
04:16problem that's never going to change necessarily within within aew and uh you
04:20know siege rants about it on a weekly basis for that exact reason like you say
04:24i think this is the best injuries aside this is the best the aw's women's
04:30division's ever looked they've constantly been adding to it and now you're having
04:33people like like your tony storms who you know
04:36they're constantly being voted the best female wrestler arguably in the top 10 of
04:40best wrestlers full stop she's fantastic yeah um
04:43is involved in it mercedes obviously was was all over and she's been away for a
04:47while i love willow nightingale i think
04:49tecla's a great world champion windsor and uh and hate are a fantastic team and
04:55they had a brief promo but you just i just i don't know what's the you there's
05:02there's you know speculation as to whether this might not be an aw decision completely
05:06yeah i'd be a wvd or whatever it is i feel like i feel like that is people trying to
05:12take
05:12the blame off a little bit right and trying to look for reasons that prove me wrong right
05:17prove me wrong show me some evidence towards this right because i do see a lot of people talking
05:21about it to be yeah but like where's what's the origin of this where's it come from right
05:24uh if was this reported by brandon first and was this reported by sean ross sap or mike johnson or
05:30whoever um john alba who's just joined john alba there you go give like you know people who have
05:38long-running reputations of having have they put that out there or has this just come from
05:42john frank 59210 on twitter who bought a blue check and has 200 followers you know um it's sort of
05:51a
05:51self-fulfilling prophecy as well because you can sit there and say oh well you know sometimes they
05:54put a women's match out there and it gets no reaction but it gets no reaction because they're
05:58not invested in it because they've not been told to invest in it because they hide it away on the
06:01problem this is the problem so i the match i go back to all the time when we talk about
06:05this is uh
06:07hater and statlander from the end of the year which was uh one of my favorite aw matches it was
06:12tremendous that year last year and it got uh initially at least until they started dropping bombs because
06:18dropping bombs rules it got it got a pretty tepid reaction and it's like oh whoa whoa hey these are
06:25two of the ten best wrestlers in the entire company um and the investment levels just weren't there it
06:30was it was kind of a problem i think for stat throughout her entire title reign really like
06:34there was a lot of instances where the effort just was not made to to build her up uh and
06:40establish
06:41the characters and the threads and the stories and stuff like that and i think it's a real shame i
06:44think
06:45it's a real shame i think yeah i think it's worth taking a punt on it like at the end
06:48of the day
06:48what's the worst that could happen like you've still got time on the shows for you know your mjs
06:53your derby allens your uh swerve stricklands or whoever it might be like i think just siege always
07:01says every single time we preview a pay-per-view put the women's match on first yeah give them that
07:06opportunity not only to to to showcase their talents straight out the gate and be like look look at the
07:12female time we've got here and later on we've got the women's world title match let's say or
07:16whatever it might be so if you'd start with the athena map the athena shirokawa which i quite
07:19enjoyed uh from the pay-per-view for example and also give them that opportunity to not just be like
07:24right try and recover the crowd after they've just gone out to this insane match and now we'll just
07:28toy the women out there especially do we have problems with this as well and they're not completely
07:32blameless yeah yeah absolutely but like if you have for example like you can't tell me that let's go
07:38to last year and we've got like uh what's a great women's match from aw last year athena versus
07:42mercedes right from from april you can't tell me that a match like that opening a pay-per-view wouldn't
07:48automatically ignite you know the entire show so i got excited watching dynamite last night because
07:53i was looking at the clock going is this like that match gonna headline dynamite and then they just hoid
07:57poor tj out there for 71 seconds yeah right there you go there's your one women's match on dynamite
08:02yeah which is that's a weird move across the board but let us know what you think of this in
08:07the
08:07comment section below uh are we being too harsh are we being too lenient i don't know it's gonna
08:12be a difficult day for people who say we're on the payroll that's for sure yeah exactly i'll tell you
08:15one company we are on the payroll off though norton vpm hey we got a tremendous deal with our partners
08:21we're not on the payroll we are it's a partnership yes uh right now you can get up to 54
08:26off your friends
08:28to tie down your internet security to protect yourself online but not only that to access your content
08:33wherever you are if you're british and you're in america this week but you want to watch uh clash
08:38in italy on your subscription hey guess what you can do that with the click of a button this works
08:44out with just three dollars per teeth a month or two pound fifty a month if you're in the uk
08:48it's
08:49a tremendous deal the link is in the description the qr code has it's been somewhere uh and it's also
08:54in
08:54the pinned comment side up today let's talk lawsuits yeah big news this i'm mainly going to be reading
09:01from my phone here because i don't want to get it wrong and get in legal trouble sir good idea
09:05but
09:05i have an a level in law and i will take you on no uh in a new ruling in
09:09the wb merger lawsuit this
09:11comes from brandon thurston the wonderful brandon thurston of post wrestling of course um vice
09:16chancellor j travis laster found that vince mcmahon and nick khan destroyed evidence as a consequence
09:23the court will treat five damaging facts as presumptively true when the case goes to trial
09:28next month yeah vince khan as well as three others that being paul levec stephanie mcmahon and brad
09:34bloom all use signal the messaging apps auto delete function which wiped out messages that they had a
09:41legal duty to preserve the ruling is a significant setback to the defendants vince khan levec george
09:48barrios and michelle wilson uh the case is now going to be harder specifically for mcmahon says
09:52brandon thurston and khan to prevail against the shareholder plaintiffs allegations so this is
09:58the takeover the merger law yes yeah yeah it's huge this yeah it's big destroying the evidence i
10:04read that last night on x and i went uh-oh yeah i mean so this is the idea that
10:12the because there's
10:13various lawsuits going on it i was gonna say it's hard to keep tracks i'm sorry yeah absolutely this
10:17is the lawsuit alleging that vince mcmahon orchestrated tko's merger with the ufc and takeover of wwe
10:23um to save his own job basically um on the in 2023 on the back of the misconduct allegations
10:30surrounding him coming out in 2022 uh and that they're they're claiming that mcmahon only trusted
10:35aria manual of endeavor and endeavor to to to keep his job basically uh and there was a dirty takeover
10:42and the other parties weren't given a fair shake of the stick now i've actually got the list of the
10:46five presumed facts from the oh i didn't know that so basically what what was the phrasing they're
10:51going to presume these is true yes presuming these is true as a consequence as a punishment
10:55basically for them destroying evidence for deleting the messages uh so here they are here's the five
11:00presumed facts number one is emmanuel's promise to provide vince with a continued role at any post
11:05merger company after a transaction influenced uh vince's decision making with respect to the merger
11:10so ari saying he's going to let vince keep his job basically uh emmanuel's offer of indemnification
11:16and other legal support relating to pending federal investigations of vince's alleged misconduct
11:21influenced vince's decision making so the idea that vince being subject of the misconduct
11:27allegations led to him doing this uh vince decided to pursue a transaction with endeavor in 2022 before
11:34the company initiated the strategic review process can communicated with emmanuel between august and
11:40december 2022 to facilitate a transaction between wwe and endeavor so nick can's in on this as well
11:45vince and can worked with uh an advisement firm called rain to steer the process toward a deal
11:52with endeavor and away from other potential bidders dirty dirty business i won't i won't even begin to
11:57i was gonna say we can't speculate on anything can we yeah i won't even begin to pretend that i
12:01know the
12:01first thing about business acquisition in the united states no but it sounds dirty and they look
12:06dirty and we'll see what happens yeah and the consequences are going to be huge as you as you point
12:10out
12:10consequences for nick ah hey but yeah i didn't realize it was next month when it goes to trial so
12:15i sense we'll be talking more and more about this and probably reading a lot more off our phones just
12:19to be safe just to be safe let's talk about brought lesnar good bit clarity on his uh retirement from
12:25wwe it's a wrestling retirement he's back working three weeks later yeah dave melter's been talking
12:31about it on wrestling observer radio with brian alvarez uh and he basically says just confirming
12:37officially that that currently wwe plans on having him work a retirement match at somerslam oh my god
12:43what a surprise huge shocker but i think it's the first time it's officially been reported yes i think
12:48correct me if we all joined the dots didn't we yeah we did for somerslam we were doing paint by
12:52numbers yeah it came to this stuff i'm even rubbish at that yeah i so bad at all i have
12:57no art skill i'm
12:58like the inverted neil b cannon right pick pick ass oh that's me i'm just i'm i'm ass
13:05do not uh completely derailed this story uh melter he talked about like the possibility of
13:13the obafemi match at clash in italy being a final match uh but then he was like yeah at least
13:18until
13:18the next time he decides to come back which is quite funny that's how wrestling retirements work
13:22uh brian alvarez said that wwe might end up marketing somerslam as the retirement bout but it's kind of the
13:30plan it seems uh apparently they plan on continuing to use wwe they continue to plan on using the word
13:36retired very loosely in this story uh which pointless yeah which is something else which is
13:43something else uh so there you go working this month and then august it's not really a retirement
13:48yeah it's pointless it's pointless it's a holiday yeah taking a break so creatively i feel like
13:55creatively i feel like this is ass but in ring i feel like it's good this is the thing isn't
14:00it i
14:00love watching brock lesnar and obafemi interact but i do like it's one of those many moments i used to
14:07get them quite a lot in the the dark days of latter day vince in wwe where something would happen
14:11and i'd
14:12be like wow what a big surprise and then about 10 seconds later i'd be like doesn't make any sense
14:17so yeah what's going on here like i remember the the the kofi squash followed by kane velazquez
14:23yeah and i was almost looking over there going kane velazquez is here and then i went wait a second
14:27why do they have to squash kofi and all this couldn't you have had like a decent bout and then
14:32kane velazquez like no they weren't usually anyway yeah uh it's i'm fully bathed over here i'll be honest
14:38mate bathed yeah because i've i've not necessarily got an issue with running back over femi brock
14:46lesnar but not immediately yeah and not it's a little too soon yeah i feel like if he hadn't
14:52retired at wrestlemania yeah then i wouldn't necessarily have a problem with him being like
14:56i took the l i went away and i went no no i want to kick your ass again and
15:01then he comes back and
15:01attacks me just it does not line up and it doesn't make sense either i don't know what the ticket
15:05sales
15:05are i don't care to be perfectly honest i sense it'll probably do well it's a wwe show in europe
15:09they
15:10normally you know can charge whatever they want um but it doesn't look like a card that was like oh
15:15we
15:15need a big match yeah cody gunther on there you got roman jacob too it's weird a lot of rematches
15:21it's weird it i think this is one of the matches that's going to be on espn as well right
15:26the first
15:26hour or whatever so yeah like i don't know it feels to me like the later era of insta was
15:34a lot of
15:35that's weird but at least the match will be good yes this feels like that to me yeah and i
15:40i kind of
15:41want to reserve my final judgment on it until monday yeah because it really does for me depend
15:48what happens in the match if obafemi loses what are we even doing here yeah unless they do some
15:54sort of cheating shenanigans but then you'd have to do a trilogy and don't do it like gunther's the
16:00guy you want to see brock face at summer slam like no i really enjoy watching over and brock
16:05together but yeah over doesn't need he already has retired brock once well but you beat him even
16:10quicker i in my opinion he should be like two minutes yeah if he just wrecks him again and it's
16:15not you know the the the sort of goldberg all right you got me the first time but when i
16:21was actually
16:21prepared for you brock wins some pretty good outrage clicks on monday baby let's see let's see what
16:26happens but yeah let us know what you think of this i did think the wrestlemania match kicked ass
16:30it was awesome yeah uh right let's talk a little bit about seth rollins he's been doing an espn
16:37espn espn espn uh interview apparently with the new zealand outlet there yeah um no with highlights
16:44with omar and he talks a lot about why he prefers playing a heel character or well kind of why
16:49he has
16:49to play heel character really saying the truth is i'm not very good at being the hero i can do
16:54it in
16:55short spurts he's a baby face right now but i'm not like john cena i'm not like ray mysterio i
16:59get
16:59bored of myself and i think that people get get bored of me i much prefer being a bad guy
17:04i think
17:05it suits me better most of my favorite moments are being a piece of trash i gotta kind of agree
17:11with
17:11him to be honest because yeah you think back at you know i'm enjoying him at the moment trying to
17:16desperately make friends with people that's a fun storyline um to battle what's left of the vision now
17:23uh but like you think about over the times when you know like we were there at wrestlemania 35 he
17:30beats brock lesnar and then it was a bit like yeah now what have you got whereas you think about
17:35some
17:35of his best performances as a heel it's a he's far more suited to that isn't he like yeah i
17:42think so
17:42i agree it is sort of showcasing how good cody roads has been to be a hit to be a
17:48babyface beloved
17:49for this long and the fans are changing somewhat but it's night and day when you compare it to seth
17:55because he can barely do six months as a babyface can he yeah definitely he he's right he's he's dead
18:01right and i think this is quite a nice cool self-aware uh comment from him i think he's better
18:06as a heel
18:07he's so good at just being obnoxious and like to when he's doing his silly laugh and like coming out
18:12in the outfits yeah and being really ostentatious and like i think he he just does a little bit better
18:18job character wise and i think like it's an interesting one because wrestling wise style
18:24his style is more of a babyface flashy isn't it yeah flashy it's like there's lots of pops there's
18:29lots of sugar rushes and and and big moves and reversals and stuff like that but character wise i
18:36totally agree you just have to look at like go back to like wrestlemania 35 when he had his big
18:40coronation and he beat brought lesnar afterwards it was just like ah this is a bit flat isn't it
18:45we do it in the summer again this is on again now yes this is a bit flat mate what
18:49happened there and
18:50it's not his fault um it's just his attributes he's a better heel i agree with him yeah it's it's
18:55nice like you say it's nice to hear a wrestler sort of openly like you get the sense just generally
19:01it's way more fun being a heel isn't it seems like you hear wrestlers talk about it and
19:06yes you get the benefit of not having to be nice to people at airports which i'm sure must be
19:11an
19:11absolute dream for some of them yeah leave wrestlers alone come on tecla had a really fun
19:15quote by this the other week where she just said i love being a little prick me too who did
19:20i see
19:20recently was it russell crowe or someone someone outside who was just like fans were like trying
19:25to bombard them yeah and they were like calm down i'll get to everyone but if someone's a prick
19:30i'm down yeah i'm out of here that's why that's why fans should be treated i think yeah you gotta
19:34behave yourself yeah around people man like the the stuff at wrestlemania and the mgm grand with
19:38pucks outrageous bailey and aj lee it's like come on yeah like yeah but in terms of yeah i think
19:47it just suits certain people better like it almost feels weird roman when he was sort of baby face
19:54because he was so good for so long as not like a heel as in like i'm gonna jeep and
20:00i'm gonna
20:00just like an arrogant prick and i think that does kind of suit seth rollins although i like i say
20:07i'm
20:08enjoying his attempt at a redemption arc with the street prophets right now yeah it's it's it's it's fun
20:14to think of and the timing of it is interesting with with rollins currently being a big baby face and
20:19stuff i did like his line about i get bored with it yeah i have to be nice again yeah
20:23oh gosh what
20:25do you mean i can't swear at people that's simon miller yeah so he's like not you know he's like
20:29behind the scenes yeah he's the nicest blood type ever every time i talk to him about his week's work
20:33he's like shop andy you see you next week he's just he's just swearing he's like you bald moron
20:39he is a beacon of positivity on the the most tired days when we're working isn't it he's so good
20:45absolutely oh we got such a hard job you know we're so tired all the time don't call us
20:49heroes all right this is literally the easiest job i've had in my life i've had a few that have
20:55been really bad to be fair this one rocks this one rocks i used to work on radio so he
20:59said you have
21:00to talk about once an hour being like that was this is yeah travel next piece of piss isn't it
21:05here comes mc hammer featuring armin van helden what
21:10that's a bit of armin van helden by the way that's a deep pool yeah oh my goodness gracious
21:15what's what tries to do what's the what's the hardest and the easiest job you've ever had let
21:19us know in the comments i want to i want to read some of these this this i mean actually
21:22my first
21:22job at wild culture was the easiest it was just writing stuff now i have budgets and things yeah
21:28me and him are stupidly taking on more responsibility haven't we yeah this is my easiest the hardest
21:32is customer sir just from a mental standpoint yeah customer service at stagecoach was
21:39mentally quite taxing because you think like people miss their travel they're screwed
21:43and they're gonna some of them are gonna take out on you yeah you know not physically taxing but
21:48mentally had a great team therefore i love my work mates at stagecoach yeah legends all but yeah
21:53what's your hardest job ever i used to work in a kitchen washing the big vats that they did and
22:00i was
22:00just it wasn't that it was necessarily like backbreaking labor i was just crap at it yeah yeah i'd just
22:07come in every day and be like well this is me for now now so fair play to people who
22:11do that sort of
22:12thing i've never had a physically tough job but yeah uh i mean i used to be an actor as
22:19well that was
22:19rather taxing you know what else was uh taxing that time i was irs for halloween and on that note
22:29when's halloween this year can you dress up as irs for the news i'll be teddy biazza you be irs
22:35we'll be money in doing the news getting a little briefcase yeah that's a good idea yeah i'll need
