00:00Well, look, I totally appreciate that any employer taking on a young person is taking on some risk.
00:04They've not worked with that person before.
00:05They may not have as long a track record as someone that's a bit older, like you and I might
00:09have.
00:10But I also know that employers do want to take on younger people.
00:13We're going to be supporting them to do that.
00:15That's why next month we're inducing a £3,000 bonus for employers that take on an unemployed young person.
00:20In the autumn, we'll be providing a £2,000 bonus for everyone that takes on a young apprentice
00:25because that's a really important part of the system.
00:27Over the last 10 years under the Conservatives, we saw a 40% fall in the number of youth apprenticeships.
00:33We need to end that.
00:34We need to refocus the apprenticeship system on what it was there to do, getting young people into work.
