00:00It is probably the most significant challenge facing our country today.
00:05I'd also like to thank my team who are here today.
00:09They've done an absolutely brilliant job of work, of my advisors, for amassing all of the evidence,
00:15putting it all together in what I hope is a compelling and pretty comprehensive report.
00:20You might have seen that just this morning there were new figures released,
00:24showing that there are now over one million young people in our country not in education, employment or training.
00:33It's actually more than a statistic.
00:36It's a warning.
00:37A warning that far too many young people are reaching adulthood only to find the door to opportunity closed.
00:44They're neat.
00:45It's an ugly term.
00:47But it's a term with ugly consequences too.
00:50Aspirations thwarted, confidence drained, futures narrowed before.
00:54They've properly begun.
