00:00The best way to bring down welfare spending is to put work and opportunity at the heart of the system.
00:06And we are doing that through a £2.5 billion investment in the youth guarantee over the next few years.
00:13That's additional work experience placements.
00:15It's also, from next month, a £3,000 hiring bonus for an employer taking on a young unemployed person.
00:24There'll be changes to the apprenticeship system to make sure we get more youth apprenticeship starts.
00:29And for the long-term young unemployed, we'll actually step in and pay the wages, six months' work, 25 hours
00:36a week at national minimum wage rates.
00:39All of that is to make sure that people don't leave education and graduate onto a lifelong benefits.
00:45It's all about more work, more opportunity, more chances in life.
