00:04all right some breaking tiger news and it's good news
00:07evan woodbury who covers the team for m live tweets out tiger outfielder carrie carpenter
00:13and infielder glaber torres will head to toledo tomorrow for a rehab assignment carpenter will
00:19play immediately torres might be a day or two behind uh additionally he's updated left-handed
00:27pitcher tarek scuble will throw his next sim game live bp on monday at tropicana field aj hint said
00:35he might get an extra day before his next outing as well pushing that to june 7th so um that's
00:43as
00:43it stands right now well that's great news great woodbury rights sorry okay warning speculation so
00:48if you're feeling really optimistic there and there are no setbacks and the tires keep pushing the
00:53accelerator on the timeline you could envision a rehab outing on june 12th with a return to the
00:58tigers on june 17th wow that'd be huge um and nothing in there about verlander but i imagine
01:04that's also real quick yeah he threw yesterday and it went well right yeah he threw over 60 pitches i
01:08think and um by all accounts it went very well and yet last night casey mize and kenley chanson
01:15led left the game yeah well you know it's so yeah i did just to be clear by the way
01:22betonline.ag
01:23sent us those updated odds i am i understand that other websites have them lower but that's what
01:29betonline.ag has them so maybe um maybe that number doesn't reflect what is actually being available at
01:37the window in vegas or available you know the guy with the tats down at the circle k whoever you
01:42bet
01:42with but uh gator the question about injuries is that in wyandotte yeah i'm not saying anything
01:49but the complimentary things about wyandotte for here moving forward was a bad choice i apologize
01:54um injuries suck okay they suck to talk about yep they suck for fans to have to deal with they
02:03suck to
02:04listen to us talk about them if you and one of my least favorite things is that we get bombarded
02:12every single time there's a glut of injuries with one of our teams people say injuries aren't you're
02:17using injuries as an excuse right i don't wake up in the morning and go searching for excuses why our
02:22teams aren't good and i've often cited this example but what do you think is the way i define an
02:29excuse
02:29is when you use something that has nothing to do with it and say that's why we lost the game
02:35you know
02:36that carl's golf land commercial love it right all the commercials that the whole yeah it's the
02:42campaign is fantastic yeah i don't play well in the sun yeah yeah where they just they my tea was
02:47too
02:48high yeah my grass moved yeah that bird was mocking me my shirt has too much wicking yeah like all
02:54that
02:54stuff right all those reasons why you suck at golf those are classic excuses i've cited this before
03:00on the air a bunch but not everybody's heard it i once heard a player after a game blame the
03:08pre-game
03:09meal it was a breakfast that was served at the team hotel it was a tray of eggs this player
03:16did not eat
03:16bacon like me sure half the tray had bacon on it the other half had just eggs but they were
03:24in the same
03:24tray oh because of that the player didn't want to eat the eggs because they were in the same tray
03:29with
03:30the bacon but then cited that after the game as a reason why he didn't play well that's weak sauce
03:36that to me is an excuse yes my shirt had too much wicking it's an excuse we didn't have our
03:42starting
03:43right fielder three-fifths of our starting rotation our starting second baseman and our starting shortstop
03:50all out at the same time may not necessarily whenever we bring up injuries we get bombarded with texts
03:56and people who say you're using injuries as an excuse and i'm like no no i'm not using injuries
04:01as an excuse i think it's a big reason for what's going on now if you define excuse differently that's
04:10fine but that's how i define excuse no and i and i'm i'm with you on that and i the
04:15counter to that is
04:16yes other teams are able to overcome injuries other teams might have better rosters and deeper rosters so
04:22they can absorb that but you know looking at the tigers and what they're going through right now
04:29it's the injuries are are unbelievable and there's only i think one or two teams in baseball have had to
04:34deal with more but now that they've thrown two more guys out hopefully they're not on the il but we'll
04:39find out more later but they had to come out of the game last night um that might put them
04:44in line
04:44with with the team that's got the most uh injuries that they're dealing with currently but
04:50the legs they have to use when you're having to use a jamai jones or a wentzel perez
04:57a zach short a gauge workman that these are the guys that you have to because of the injuries
05:05it shows where the depth on this team is and it's it's maybe not as good as other teams are
05:11and
05:11uh you know it also reflects on the guys that are healthy they got to do more right and other
05:18teams that's where you'll see it okay well the other teams have the injuries fine whether their
05:21star players are coming through in the clutch and and they're doing it more often than not
05:25the tigers haven't had a whole lot of luck and last night even last night's game it looked like oh
05:29here we go again they had the ground ball towards first base torkelson's going to field and then it
05:34hits the edge of the bag takes an immediate left turn and finds itself out of the reach of the
05:39first baseman to the second baseman and the runner is safe at the play at first base like come on
05:43let's
05:43not have this happen again and then that same bad luck started to affect the angels with a couple
05:49plays that didn't go their way and this is what happens to bad baseball teams yeah or teams that
05:54are going through a rough stretch which is what the tigers are i don't know the tigers are a bad
05:57baseball team i think that they're a bad baseball team as the roster currently reflects it which might
06:04be completely different in three or four weeks so i guess you know there's they've taken on a ton of
06:09water as i'd like to say but they're in the wrong boat they need to get back in their boat
06:13which is
06:13anchored by you know glaber torres and turk scuble well they deserve it carrie carpenter a new boat
06:21um and and you know it's kind of tick tock because they will get some guys back with plenty of
06:26baseball
06:26to play yeah so what they were strikes me a fair assessment of who they are and i guess when
06:33i come up
06:34with my calculus of who they are and what they could be it has to include who's not playing and
06:39who we hope will be playing but you know a lot of baseball to be played we'll find out over
06:44the
06:44long term i think it's a safe assumption they were a team with a small margin for error and this
06:49has
06:49been a large margin of error they didn't they didn't have a ton of depth the guys that are left
06:57standing aren't so good that they can carry a team yeah and you're relying on guys at the end of
07:03your
07:03roster uh when you're healthy to now be complete starters whether it was a matt veerling or zach
07:09mckinstry you know these guys are now counted on to play almost every day and you know they could
07:15be great players in the role that they're accustomed to and maybe it changes when you're asking them to
07:20do a lot more um we'll see where that goes i mean veerling's had some pretty good at-bats and
07:25it seems like mckinstry's coming around a little bit here too which would be great because this team
07:29needs to start playing better baseball and going in the right direction and stop losing
07:34all these games they've got a chance this afternoon to win the game win the series feel good about
07:40themselves uh as they go into the weekend well and then and the other thing is if you're not if
07:45you've checked out that's fine you're missing mcgonagall who just continues to feel like the most
07:50reliable guy they've got he is so much fun to watch just great at bad after great at bad yep
07:57yep and drew anderson's come around out of the pen but um some stuff starting to go right
08:05long way from a it is a it is still an authentic doug karsh here we come moment yeah well
08:10way to go
08:10jack flaherty's got to pitch well today because they're not going to have drew anderson karsh and
08:14anderson 97.1
