00:03all right i cannot believe how much i'm looking forward to this every time and when it happens
00:09i'm like yeah gator it's when i'm watching a tiger game and no matter what what he's doing
00:20when dylan dingler does this oh when he taps his head because he wants to appeal
00:28yeah it doesn't matter if he's catching or hitting he knows when dylan dingler taps his head
00:33to get an abs appeal i'm like he's right he's right did you hear that stat last night during
00:42the game that the braves are less than 50 percent yeah dylan dingler is 14 for 16 on abs challenges
00:49this year it's pretty good yep pretty good um yeah we also called him out yesterday on the show and
00:55then he went out two for three with a walk that's a good point good for him after going one
01:00for his
01:01previous 21 unfortunately they lost the game yeah and they lost probably the bigger stories because
01:06you're going to lose games and it sucked and that game is completely different if there's another what
01:11three four feet on that kevin mcgonagall fly ball to right field with two yeah absolutely that looked
01:17like it was gone it looked like the right fielder was doing the look up thing yeah i thought he
01:22i
01:22thought at the moment i'm like that's just a pop-up to to right field and then i saw where
01:27the right fielder was like oh wait a minute this one's going to get out and then i got fooled
01:31and
01:31of course it didn't go out i went through the roller coaster there in five seconds yep and they
01:36were losing i think trail nothing or trail nothing they were losing trail nothing was either two
01:41nothing or was it three it was two nothing and i think it would have given a lead yeah but
01:45it's only
01:45325 feet down the right field line so we took that swing and mcgonagall i mean this was one hell
01:51of a uppercut you could see it had the look of a pop-up yeah but given the short porch
01:59out there and
02:00maybe i was like mjm and then the right fielder fooled me a little bit but you know they didn't
02:06score
02:07enough runs but the looming thing that comes out of that game is casey mize the injury and javi
02:12bias the injury and look both of them happened on plays mize coming off the mound to field a little
02:19number and maybe it happened but a little number uh maybe it happened before that there's some
02:24speculation that he might have shown some discomfort before that but right groin injury timetable yet to
02:31be determined by as bad throw from the shortstop so it was going to be one of these first baseman
02:38who's a giant catch and tag situations and bias tried to avoid the tag and took an awkward tumble
02:45and folded his right foot underneath his butt as he passed over first base and that was unfortunate
02:51so what happens now what happens now the pitching options down at triple a don't look that appetizing
03:01no sir gibson long time add and a couple of guys that are on the 40 man who in toledo
03:08aren't exactly
03:08killing it um jv where are we with jv well he just threw a bullpen yesterday um they feel like
03:20he's
03:20getting much closer i mean the fact that he's traveling with the team is is a good sign um but
03:27i don't know
03:28i mean if if mys misses us if he's gonna have to miss more than the start hopefully jv's back
03:34by
03:34the time start number two comes around but for start number one i'm not sure so does that mean
03:39do they go with a toledo option or do they bring up somebody from toledo just be part of it
03:43do they
03:43go with the opener bring back that that wonderful uh little trend that they've used they got two years
03:52ago was great last year not as not as great but two years ago was phenomenal how they used it
03:56the
03:56bullpen inconsistencies probably that's the thing is that you know the guys coming out of the bullpen
04:01you don't really love at this point um so i i mean i would imagine they probably if they have
04:08to it's
04:08going to be a triple a arm like a tie madden uh type or sawyer gibson long as you mentioned
04:14we'll see
04:15where that goes but it's the it's the bias one that's interesting it aj said afterwards that he
04:21put any weight on it and that's why he was carted off i mean it goes into the golf cart
04:26sits in the
04:26passenger seat and and then he had this really awkward moment where the the golf cart is doing
04:32like a 10 point turn yeah because god forbid the wheels would uh the tires of a golf cart god
04:41forbid
04:41the wheels of the golf cart would touch grass can't have that god can't do that but uh they end
04:49up
04:50taking him out and it doesn't look like that's one oh yeah he'll be fine in a week that wouldn't
04:54look like it's rough if if he broke his ankle that's gonna be really bad and that keeps him out
05:00for
05:01a couple months the options they have to fill his roster spot are vast um but there would still be
05:09some juggling that might have to happen because of who's who is and who is not on the 40-man
05:13roster
05:15but gauge workman is a guy who's played everywhere in the infield and everywhere in the outfield in
05:22his minor league career and he's hitting 344 for toledo in 26 games he's got 18 rbis in that time
05:30and
05:31um 14 extra base hits ben malgary is an outfielder who is hitting 295 with a 939 ops he's got
05:39five home
05:40runs for them at this point um and 22 strikeouts in 24 games because i'm trying to figure out which
05:46which is the guy that they're going to look to or cory jolks is another outfielder who hits for a
05:51ton
05:51of power he's got five home runs already 18 rbis in just 22 games his ops is is an 873
05:57but everybody
05:58wants max clark and this is ironic because yesterday scott harris before the game was talking with media
06:07members and and explained why it's unlikely for max clark to come up soon you know they want him to
06:14to be completely ready to come up when they bring him up they don't want to bring up guys their
06:19prospects or top prospects uh only to be sent down they want them to come up and stay up
06:26kevin mcgonigal made the decision really easy with what how he approached in spring training max clark
06:31had a rough spring max clark got off to a great start at toledo in his first 17 games
06:37his next seven games his last seven games he's he's hitting barely over 100 during that time and
06:42his uh ops is is below 400 um and and they still want him to get better and better in
06:48the outfield
06:49he's going to be a fixture in center field but as you pointed out during commercial break he did drop
06:54a pop-up in in center field last night it's gonna happen i don't know if he lost in the
06:58lights or or
06:59what happened there but he's not just ready to come up but those comments happened before the game
07:06and then you have the hobby injury and because hobby plays a shortstop in center field where do
07:13they go because of that versatility makes me think it's going to be gage workman but we'll see
07:18yeah there's decisions that need to be made and it's going to take some time and to you know before
07:24clark is ready the pop-up that he dropped last night and it was a bases loaded situation
07:31it was in the shallow center field and he charged it looked like he charged in too far
07:36and then kind of had to back up and missed it because the bases were loaded and there were only
07:42one out only one out he picked it up had the runner dead to rights at third probably second as
07:49well but
07:50he threw to third made a bad throw everybody was safe and look i mean i there's no reason not
07:57to be
07:57excited about max clark the mcgonigal thing's got everybody fired up but until we see you know
08:05the max clark plays more consistently and earns a playing time earns a playing time in detroit which
08:10will come eventually you know overall he's not going to be the guy probably no and overall he's
08:15hitting 303 on the year at toledo in 25 games his ops is at 821 i mean he's got some
08:21good numbers
08:21there is nine doubles during that time which uh leads the the mudhens along with gage workman who's
08:27also tied with with nine doubles he doesn't strike out a ton he's only struck out 15 times
08:32in the 25 games he's drawn 13 walks so that part is is mcgonigal like that neither guy strikes out
08:40all that much and they they walk uh i mean mcgonigals i think he walks as much as he strikes
08:44out and
08:45with clark it's real close to it there's a lot to like but yes needs more seasoning i think before
08:50they're going to give him that opportunity even though there's an opportunity to look like it might
08:54present itself here gage workman i mean gage workman has been in the organization for some time
08:59i think at one point he was on their prospect list i don't think he's there anymore well he's 26
09:04years
09:05old so there is that you know he's been a minor leaguer for a while here um he has
09:142170 at bats in his minor league career that's a lot he's a career 250 hitter in the minors
09:19a decent on base percentage 331 and a good ops at 778 this year he's off to a really good
09:25start
09:25because at 26 you should be you know at this point are you he's probably a 4a player but that
09:32that kind of is what it calls for right now they they need a 4a player 248 539 97 97
09:39if you want to
09:39talk a little tigers we also have uh pistons discussion that we'll get back to in the one
09:45o'clock hour also every once in a while something happens in sports that everybody goes wait what
09:49why we'll get to that today at 102 karshan anderson uh the tigers meanwhile back in action tonight and
09:57at scoobal going against it you see this kid that is pitching for the braves making his second career
10:04start jr richie yeah did you hear his story no apparently he's a seattle native and last
10:15year during the playoffs he was in the stands for game five between the tigers and the mariners
10:22he was just being a fan of the team he grew up was he complaining that school didn't come out
10:26to
10:26pitch a seven i don't know but he he uh he was in the stands watching that one so um
10:34second career
10:35start and certainly should be advantaged tigers but i thought it was vanished tigers yesterday and
10:41the prez guy shut him out for as long as he was well he's right-handed we'll see how the
10:44uh left
10:45handed bats do in the lineup tonight but it's good to throw scoobal and uh then tomorrow we got a
