Police Interceptors S24E05 (Oct 27 2025)
Transcript
00:00This is Police Interceptors.
00:04Police Interceptors are all I for.
00:06I'm going to tell my kids about this.
00:08And you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:11Speed one, two, zero.
00:14Ace Pursuit drivers.
00:16Contact, contact, contact.
00:18With air support.
00:19Got two out, stand by.
00:21I'm out.
00:22And a crack dog unit.
00:24If you leave, you will get hit.
00:26They bring down the bad guys.
00:30I believe you'll want it.
00:32Keep the streets safe.
00:36Get on the floor.
00:39And battle 24-7.
00:41Get down on the floor.
00:43In the war on crime.
00:45Crash, crash.
00:47On the floor now.
00:48This is what it is, isn't it?
00:49We find them, we lock them up.
00:51Coming up.
00:54Go to the floor, go to the floor, go to the floor.
00:56A crack team of cops.
00:58No, no, no.
00:59Stay there.
01:00Launch a special hop.
01:02I'm not being arrested.
01:03Have I ever gone?
01:04No.
01:05Stay under arrest.
01:06A foul mouth.
01:07Take your seat.
01:08You cannot.
01:09Take your seat now.
01:10Take your seat.
01:11Receives a clean sweep.
01:12Yeah, that's on camera.
01:14And a runaway band man.
01:16Vehicle is off, off, off at the M6.
01:19High risk.
01:20Takes the road to ruin.
01:22As the port from us has gone the wrong way, down Bedford Bypass.
01:43It's Sunday evening.
01:46And as the summer sun sets over Northamptonshire, it signals the start of an interceptors night shift.
01:53Riding solo tonight is Rob Halfleet.
01:56A white Mercedes Sprinter van potentially driving on cloned plates has been spotted heading northbound on the M1.
02:15Oh, Jack.
02:16I'll just go and sit over 15 and see when it comes under.
02:21I'm assuming there's no markers on it yet to say that there's any features on the genuine one or not.
02:28No, no, no.
02:29Cops aren't sure if the motor they're tracking is the clone or the genuine van belonging to an innocent victim.
02:39We'll try and get this one stopped.
02:41If it's the genuine, then that's fine.
02:43If it's not, even better.
02:45We'll go and get the clone, as they suspect it could be a stolen vehicle.
02:52Rob's been in Northamptons roads policing for less than a year.
02:56And despite being a taser-trained advanced driver, this rookie's never been involved in a pursuit.
03:02Is tonight the night when all that changes?
03:06Well, it should be coming past us about now.
03:09In the marked car, Rob's hardly inconspicuous, so deploys a good old-fashioned copper's trick to lie low.
03:17We're just sitting ourselves in front of that lorry so that the things that are coming up from behind us don't see us.
03:26Using the lorry as cover, Rob sits tight and awaits his prey and...
03:31Within a couple of minutes...
03:34This is a Mercedes.
03:36There it is.
03:37One, one, I've got eyeball on that.
03:40Sprinter van, I'm behind it now, lane three.
03:43Just got past 50 now.
03:44Rob's now got to figure out if it's the clone or the genuine vehicle.
03:49Aerojet, just gone under the one mile for 16.
03:54I'm just going to put the follow me's on.
03:56The follow me matrix is used on motorways to instruct vehicles behind to follow the cops.
04:03If the van driver has nothing to hide, he'll almost certainly comply.
04:09One run, can I come in please? This van's now failing to stop. Failing to stop.
04:17It looks like Rob's found the clone.
04:20Just going under the last marker board for 16. Speed is 8-5, lane four. Road conditions are dry.
04:28But, because he's all alone, Rob needs backup.
04:32One, two, Rob's now rushing behind, please.
04:35Roger, I'll pull over when able.
04:38Tom in the traffic car is TPAC trained so quickly takes the reins.
04:43Speed is 9-0, it's low risk.
04:48At the moment, we're just keeping track of where he is essentially until we can get the right units here to enforce a tactic to stop the van.
04:57The plan is to perform a multi-car box and force a stop.
05:01But they need some armed response vehicles.
05:04Come on, ALVs, where are you?
05:06We're passing water to get on northbound. Speed battery.
05:12The backup is still two junctions behind. It could be ten minutes until they catch up.
05:19M1 northbound, half a mile marker for junction 19.
05:24For Tom in the lead pursuit car, assistance can't come soon enough.
05:31Approaching the junction for the M6. Standby, I'll come back to you.
05:35Because the van's driving is increasingly erratic.
05:39Vehicle is off, off, off at the M6.
05:43Was temporarily high risk.
05:46Due to tactical driving with close proximity of other vehicles.
05:49Now, as the road opens up, the driver of the stolen van floors it.
05:54One and a half mile marker for the rugby services. Speed nine, five.
06:00At these speeds, a three and a half ton van is a deadly weapon.
06:04If we need some resources for a resolution soon please, then G, how are we getting on?
06:08Uh, boys, you've got one vehicle at junction three.
06:13Their best chance of a box now could be a local unit six miles up ahead.
06:18We are at one mile marker for M69846. I'll go for the keyboard.
06:24To deter the van from exiting at the next junction, Tom has slipped into the hard shoulder.
06:30Half mile marker, subject vehicles in lane three. Speed nine, zero.
06:35But it looks like Tom could have a fight on his hands.
06:40Stand by. Stand by.
06:44Temporarily high risk as it swerves across the carriageway, but does commit to the M6.
06:50So far, so good.
06:52If Tom can keep the van on at the next junction, it'll march straight into the jaws of a Warwickshire ARV unit.
06:59One mile marker for junction three is the A tree.
07:02Once again, white van mans eyeing up the exit.
07:08Uh, I'll do my best to keep him on, but I suspect he's probably going to come off here.
07:14Stand by.
07:16This time, with two clear lanes of traffic, Tom's powerless to prevent the move.
07:20I can't keep him on NG. We are off, off, off, off. A, triple four and an Eater. Approaching roundabout way.
07:29With plans for a motorway T-Pike now dashed, interceptors need a new strategy.
07:35Temporarily high risk through a red ATS.
07:37Yes.
07:39Fortunately, a former backup has arrived.
07:42Two thousand feet above the ground.
07:45NG, head past five, Ryan, we are visual with you.
07:47But this driver's learned every trick in the bad guy's handbook.
07:53As the port from us, he's gone the wrong way down Bedford bypass.
07:58It's far too dangerous for cops to follow him the wrong way down a dual carriageway.
08:03So thank heavens for the eye in the sky.
08:05NG, pass five, one, Bedford bypass, northbound on the wrong way. Stand by.
08:13Night sights lock in on the van as it recklessly powers on at speed against the flow of traffic.
08:22Messy call, messy call, messy call.
08:25This runaway is now playing with fire.
08:27NG, pass five, one, vehicle is now off, off onto a road that's going to come out onto Newtown Road.
08:39Newtown Road, which is in Bedford.
08:43NG, pass five, one, crash, crash.
08:46The pursuit is over, but at what cost?
08:57I can't keep him on NG. We are off, off, off. A, treble forward and Eton.
09:10Cops hopes of boxing in a stolen van on the M6 northbound was scuppered when it exited the motorway and barreled into a busy junction.
09:19Temporarily high risk through a red ATS.
09:22Then, in a desperate attempt for freedom, he went the wrong way up a dual carriageway before the inevitable happened.
09:32Temporarily high, one, crash, crash at Newton Road near the junction with Paul Road.
09:38We've got two out. Stand by.
09:41Two from the van quickly scarper.
09:44Unfortunately, two people from the car also appear to walk away from the crash.
09:48There, there, there.
09:53Moments later, Tom, who led the pursuit, arrives on the scene.
09:58Halt now! On the floor now! On the floor now!
10:02Come on and fight, do it now!
10:04The under arrest failed to stop.
10:06The under arrest failed to stop.
10:09Got it.
10:10Stay still!
10:11It's not long before the area is crawling with cops.
10:15Both men from the van are in cuffs.
10:18The person on the ground nearest the road is going to be a driver.
10:24The man who was wearing high-vis was behind the wheel.
10:27But despite the chaos he caused after a crash like that, officers can't take any chances.
10:34Let me check your head, mate.
10:36Oh, it's hurting.
10:38I know, it will be, mate.
10:40We've got to check you over.
10:42The passenger is also suffering, but since he apparently grabbed a beer before doing a runner, he can't be that bad.
10:49Taz, you got any gloves?
10:51The helicopter arrived the second they took the biggest risk they possibly could, and they went the wrong way.
10:56It meant that we could be as safe as we could by giving them space to take that risk.
11:02On this occasion, we could back off.
11:03M-Pass could let us know exactly where they were when they crashed and keep them in camera view when they got out of the van.
11:09And so they've ended up getting locked up.
11:11The motor that's been totaled is a brand new Merck worth more than 50 grand.
11:16And thankfully both occupants escaped with just minor injuries.
11:21So with everyone involved accounted for, cops can search the van.
11:26714, you've got a KTM Adventure in the back of the van as well.
11:31These highly sought after off-road bikes are worth around 15 grand when sold new.
11:38It's a nice bike.
11:40A nice bike with a Swiss number plate.
11:43Stolen.
11:44The Royal Port Hotel.
11:46Doventry.
11:48Sick.
11:50It was Nick from outside a hotel just a few days ago.
11:53Oh, yeah, Jesus.
11:55Oh, it is a nice bike.
11:57Someone will have come here for a nice bike ride, probably stayed in their hotel for the night and woken up and that's gone.
12:01Hopefully they've not left yet and they can get their bike back.
12:06With a stolen motorbike and a stolen van in their possession, these fellas will face a serious grilling back of the nick.
12:13I have to get a TV license now.
12:18So how's rookie Rob feeling with pursuit number one under his belt?
12:23That could have been going around for ages longer.
12:28We're in the right place at the right time with the right type of vehicle to find it and then keep up with it.
12:34Yeah, there's not much more you can say. This is exactly why you sign up to do the job.
12:37Rob's first pursuit delivered some top results.
12:41Not only was the driver found guilty of three separate driving offences but also of receiving stolen goods.
12:48He was locked up for nearly two years, banned for more than three and a half and fined almost £200.
12:54His passenger was guilty of possession of cannabis and given a six month conditional discharge.
13:00What's the need for that?
13:07Blocking the road.
13:08I know because we're dealing with an incident here.
13:10So am I.
13:12Idiot.
13:14For the cops, getting a mouthful of abuse is sadly all part of the daily grind.
13:19Take this stupid thing off mate and I'll guarantee you couldn't do one thing.
13:23I promise you you couldn't because I promise you wouldn't.
13:25Did you say you've got a policy?
13:26I'm going to show you my policy. Don't you think you moron?
13:28But it will take more than schoolyard taunts to rattle an interceptor.
13:33If you start swearing in the street you're going to get in trouble.
13:36It's not worth it.
13:37Look after Ray.
13:38Let me do.
13:40Oh mate.
13:42What are you doing?
13:44Sorry he's old man.
13:46He should know better then shouldn't he?
13:50Swearing and abuse and foul language, when it comes to it, it doesn't tend to offend me or rile me up.
13:57I'm big enough and ugly enough to deal with it.
14:00I am in a uniform and it is the uniform that people take issue with.
14:07If they're going to act like a toddler then they're going to act like a toddler.
14:11Just let it go.
14:12Head right and then right at the end to the A6.
14:23It's a hot and humid summer evening.
14:26All the way to the end and left.
14:28Burning up the country's roads with the blues on are interceptors Aaron Griffiths and Scott Kimberley.
14:34There's been an RTC whereby one vehicle's reversed into another.
14:40It's then driven off and the vehicle that's been hit into us and followed it.
14:47And then the vehicle's then crashed again somewhere else with the other vehicle still behind it.
14:52So dare say things will probably potentially be a bit heated when we get there and we'll have to try and work out what's gone on and how it's gone on.
15:02Reports suggest that the victim of the collision has apprehended the suspect himself and is keeping him detained until the cops arrive.
15:10Next left.
15:13A brave move but dishing out justice should really be left to the boys and girls in blue.
15:19Where are they?
15:21It's there. They tried to run.
15:23Oh, it's still there.
15:25If the situation's about to boil over, Griff and Scott have to take it off the gas.
15:31Hello, are you okay?
15:33What's happened?
15:35Admittedly, I've come with the fence.
15:38Right.
15:39So these sort of intervened.
15:41Okay.
15:42But nastily.
15:44Right.
15:45To the point where I don't want to cooperate.
15:47Okay.
15:48After just eight seconds in the man's presence, Griff's already got a whiff.
15:52Cooperate.
15:53At the minute, you're under arrest, okay?
15:54Yeah.
15:55Suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs?
15:57What?
15:58Okay.
15:59For driving a motor vehicle whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
16:01I haven't, I haven't driven.
16:02Suspicion of?
16:03I haven't driven.
16:04Okay.
16:05Put your hands towards you?
16:06Yeah.
16:07Meanwhile, Scott's getting briefed by the bloke who stopped him doing a runner.
16:12What's happened?
16:13He was on the opposite side of the road.
16:15He was swerving.
16:16Yeah.
16:17Driving erratically.
16:18I got to that junction, the next junction up there.
16:19Yeah.
16:20He slammed his brakes on.
16:21Yeah.
16:22All of a sudden, no traffic in front of him.
16:23Put his reverse lights and rammed into the front of my car.
16:25Okay.
16:26So you're the driver of this one, isn't he?
16:27Yeah.
16:28He's still in.
16:29Yeah.
16:30And he drove off, lost control and smacked into that wall.
16:31Okay.
16:32And then when I broxed him in here, he's tried reversing out back into my car again.
16:36Back into your car.
16:37Okay.
16:38It sounds like a nasty case of road rage, but Griff's fellas suddenly denying everything.
16:43Okay.
16:44I haven't drove.
16:45Okay.
16:46Well, from what's been reported to me, you have been the driver of the vehicle.
16:49I can smell alcohol on you.
16:50Okay.
16:51So I believe you have been drinking.
16:52So I'm going to require you to buy me a specimen of breath.
16:55Alright?
16:56Let's walk this way.
16:57To my car.
17:00Action fan Griff's all-time favourite movie is Con Air.
17:03A film about a plane hijacked by a violent and riotous gang of criminals.
17:09Mr Road Rage has already lost his temper once tonight.
17:13Sit tight there for a minute.
17:14Odds are, he could erupt again at any moment.
17:18Duh, duh, duh, duh, duh.
17:21What?
17:22Pardon?
17:23You heard.
17:24No, don't talk to me like that.
17:25Stick that camera off to your ass.
17:26Alright, you can get out of my car.
17:28I'm not having you behave like that in there.
17:30Griff must now get him out of the car before he kicks off completely.
17:33You're just going to stand right up your ass.
17:35You're not going to be sat in my car making frets and being like that.
17:37Take a seat, take a seat.
17:38I'm telling you now.
17:39In front of that camera, you cannot...
17:40No, take a seat, take a seat now, take a seat, get down on the floor.
17:45Yeah, that's on camera, that's on camera.
17:476-1, get me a queen, please, and a great one.
17:49It's all on record.
17:51With the man making threats and refusing to comply, Griff has to take back control of the situation.
17:59It's all recorded, mate.
18:016-1, we are all good, the driver's in custody, he's started kicking off, I've had to put him on the floor.
18:05It's all recorded, it's not funny, I know it not.
18:08We can't do anything else, because we're going to have to strain this chap on the floor.
18:11The man is finally under control, so Griff can get back to the matter in hand.
18:16I suspect that you've been driving a motor vehicle, will you provide a specimen of breath for analysis?
18:23Okay.
18:24You know, failing to provide a specimen of breath is an offence, okay, for which he can be arrested for.
18:29The only thing the man provides is a few choice profanities.
18:33You're in public, swearing.
18:36You're in public, stop swearing.
18:38Okay, you won't warn you again.
18:40How much do I want to tell you?
18:42Now, having failed to get a rise at a Griff, Prince Charming turns on the crowd.
18:49You're a dickhead, bruv.
18:50Keep your, keep your...
18:51You're a dickhead, bruv.
18:53Right, stop facing them and stop being abusive.
18:56You're a dickhead, bruv.
18:57You are going to get...
18:59No, they're not.
19:00You stop making frets to people, or you'll be arrested for that as well.
19:03You watch, brother.
19:04You watch.
19:06I ain't making frets, you watch.
19:07You watch me.
19:08For the safety of everyone concerned, the boys need backup, or things here could turn ugly.
19:14We're here, Papa 6-1.
19:15We're attracting quite a crowd.
19:17Is there a second crew that might be able to come?
19:20Yeah, the crew of the van are on the way to town.
19:24What's their ETA, please?
19:26Because I'm going home.
19:28Shut up.
19:30Perfect.
19:30You won't miss us.
19:31We're on the main road through Erfingborough.
19:32The imminent arrival of a police van is welcome news.
19:37Quick, help me.
19:39Help me.
19:40And even though the suspect's now begging the crowd for help, unsurprisingly, he's got no supporters here.
19:46We need to move the cuts from the front to the back, so I want to wait for you guys to come here before we do it.
19:53Because of the threats he's been making, he's being cuffed to the rear just in case he tries to kick off.
20:00You're making this a problem?
20:01You're making this a problem?
20:03Right.
20:04You're making this a problem?
20:05Three, two, one.
20:05You're making this a problem?
20:06You're making this a problem?
20:08Now the bloke seems to be blaming the cops for all his woes.
20:12Now follow up.
20:13Get off me.
20:14No.
20:14Go away.
20:15No.
20:15No.
20:16Leave me alone.
20:16Just chill out.
20:17You're making this a problem, now.
20:19I made it a problem by kicking off.
20:21Now.
20:22Needless to say, Griff and Scott won't be sad to see the back of this bloke.
20:26I'm paying off of you.
20:27Stop, mate.
20:29Stop.
20:31He's being escorted to custody by local cops where they plan to get an evidential sample
20:37of breath.
20:40Alright, let's not do that.
20:43Let's not do that.
20:44Come on.
20:45But judging by his current behaviour, compliance seems unlikely.
20:49What did he say?
20:52He spat at the wall and he said he'll do it in my face, so.
20:57I was going to get in one place.
20:59Meanwhile, at the crime scene, the boys have started gathering evidence.
21:11I'm just going to search the car, section 23, because it absolutely reeks.
21:14Yeah, that's no issues.
21:16But you don't exactly need a coppice nose to sniff out what Griff's just found.
21:22Er, Straub's?
21:23Can you get me an evidence bag, please?
21:24A bag of weed to add to his ever-growing rap sheet.
21:29Oh, dear.
21:30Yeah.
21:32Where was it?
21:33Under the driver's seat.
21:35Griff Radio's back to the nick.
21:37Can we make sure that we do for drink and drugs, please?
21:41There's cannabis that's been found in the vehicle, and I'll be happy to evidence that he's impaired
21:47by drugs, as well as drink.
21:51And he can finally take stock and reflect on an extraordinary series of events.
21:56When, obviously, we've arrived, the chap was down there, and he was, you know, quite happy
22:01to be arrested.
22:02And then in the car, he started making threats, so we've got him out of the car, and he continued
22:05making threats.
22:05So, for me, the safest place to control somebody is on the floor.
22:09So, I've leg swept him and put him on the floor, which he's not been very happy about.
22:13And whilst on the floor, he's carried on being abusive, he's carried on swearing, making threats
22:17to people.
22:18And he can't be swearing in front of the public, so he's arrested for a public order offence.
22:21And to be fair, nobody here offered us any aggression or any violence.
22:25I don't know if it's the weather, or it might be the area that we're in, but they're
22:29all really, really quite nice people, quite polite, wanted to have a laugh and a joke
22:32with us.
22:32It's always good to get a positive reception in almost that these people support what we're
22:37doing.
22:38Back at the Nick, the man's vile behaviour continued, earning him an evening in the spit hood.
22:44In court, he pleaded guilty to failing to stop driving without due care, using threatening
22:49and abusive language, and failing to provide a specimen.
22:53He was slapped with a 32-month driving ban, a £200 fine, and ordered to lay off the booze
22:59for three months.
23:02Coming up, cops launch a double-drug raid, and your manner of driving is absolutely
23:14appalling.
23:15Scott dishes out a few home truths.
23:18So you've got cords exposed on your tyre, for starters, and your vehicle doesn't have
23:22an M.O.T. So, with all due respect, you've only got yourself to blame.
23:26It's Wednesday morning.
23:40A team of over 20 cops, led by PC Lydia Chamberlain, have a warrant to raid two houses thought to
23:47be used by local drug dealers.
23:49So we've got all of Northampton neighbourhoods, we've got a few from Daventry neighbourhoods,
23:56we've got three dog units, we've got our Opera Vive that tackle knife crime in the NN5 area.
24:03The reason we're taking so many is there's quite a few nasty people at the address, so
24:07we can tackle them.
24:09And the more people we have, the quicker we can search, the quicker we can get out of the
24:12way of people.
24:13You know, and if we can do a more thorough search, we're more likely to find some, hopefully
24:18drugs.
24:18The prime suspect has served time for armed robbery.
24:22And Intel says at least three other people are present with him at the properties.
24:28There's four of us in convoy, we're about two minutes away.
24:31The two houses, believed to be linked to the same drug dealing operation, are three doors
24:36apart from each other.
24:39A slick, robust strike is critical.
24:43Go forward, go forward, go forward.
24:46The suspects must have no opportunity to escape.
24:52While Lydia's team have gone in hard, the front door at the other house needs the big
25:00red key.
25:02Stay there.
25:06Meanwhile, Lydia's search is already bearing fruit.
25:09We've got one chap upstairs.
25:11But there's an unexpected twist.
25:14We've got COVID, by the way.
25:16Oh, lovely.
25:17The main suspect is laid up with COVID.
25:22If we sit him in there, if we just make sure that the sofa's okay, and then we'll put the
25:27dog in.
25:27Just have a seat over there, mate.
25:31This gentleman's got COVID.
25:33He's got a positive test next to his bedside table.
25:37I don't mind staying with him.
25:39Yeah, I reckon she'll get out.
25:40Because I've obviously detained him first.
25:42So far, however, he's the only one they've got.
25:45Who's asking where his missus is, though?
25:47I think he was expecting her to be in the house.
25:49He's been told that he's seen us come in.
25:51He's been at the window and we were running past.
25:52The fear now is that the man's girlfriend has done a runner.
25:58Just for your awareness, saying there should definitely be more people in the house if
26:01you can just keep her containment on before we get it properly searched.
26:05While a team are dispatched to hunt the missing woman, a few doors down, they've made a breakthrough.
26:11Not only have they got another man in cuffs, but police dog Frankie's been chomping at
26:34the bit.
26:35She can kind of smell enough of something to make her excited, but maybe there isn't
26:40close enough or there's not enough of it to make her indicate.
26:43So it could just be residue and stuff on the side.
26:46And then Ash clocks it.
26:48Got Class B in a tin there.
26:52Still, it's not the huge score the team were hoping for.
26:55The dog's interested round here.
26:57It just can't quite narrow down where it is.
27:00Meanwhile, in the room next door, a familiar-looking tub has just been found.
27:05Chocolate, anyone?
27:06What's more, a stash of cash found at the other property begins to join the dots.
27:14I think we found a load of cash but no drugs, and then these have got drugs but no cash,
27:18so I imagine they'd marry up together, wouldn't they?
27:20Yeah, yeah, yeah.
27:20Absolutely.
27:20As the search moves upstairs, Frankie, come here, Frankie's nose strikes again.
27:30Delta T-6, we just had an indication of the upper bedroom on some cash.
27:34You've got a little bag of what looks like 50s in it in that one.
27:38That looks like it's got a load of cash in it as well.
27:41£900 in a lady's handbag, and now, on the top floor, Lydia's found a third suspect.
27:49Just listen to me one moment.
27:50So you're currently under arrest and suspicious of being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug.
27:55No, I'm not.
27:56So you do not have to say anything, but...
27:57No, it's nothing to do with me.
27:59It's nothing to do with mine.
27:59It's nothing to do with mine.
27:59It's nothing to do with mine.
28:01Anything you do say, maybe give it in evidence, all right?
28:04No, she is.
28:05No, she is.
28:05No, she is.
28:07No, give me a hug.
28:08No, give me a hug.
28:09No, give me a hug.
28:10All right.
28:11Let's get that on fire.
28:13Oi, don't stamp on me.
28:14The woman was located in a bedroom with her teenage daughter.
28:18Here, take my flag.
28:19Oh, all right.
28:21Oh, I'm not being arrested.
28:23Have I ever got nothing?
28:24I'll be under arrest.
28:26So that's three in cuffs.
28:28If you just keep an eye on her face.
28:31Meanwhile, back at the other property, the woman thought to have escaped has just returned home.
28:36So Lydia makes her way over and nicks her too.
28:40I'll search you quickly and then we'll get you off to custody and we'll get this all dealt with, okay?
28:45With all four suspects apprehended, the team focused their energies on the search.
28:50Bonnie, Bonnie, come here.
28:52And this time it's police dog Bonnie who hits the jackpot.
28:57My dog showed an interest in one of the speakers on the middle floor.
29:01Inside the speaker is a bundle of what looks like Coke.
29:07You're currently under arrest on suspicion of concern and supply of a Class B drug and possession of a Class A drug, okay?
29:13Time is 9.53, okay?
29:16But the search isn't over yet.
29:20James, I take it this BB gun was where you've left it, yeah?
29:24Perfect, thank you.
29:26Have we got the knuckle duster as well or no?
29:28No.
29:29I've got that.
29:31Police have stumbled across several nasty looking weapons.
29:35It's gone well.
29:37We've got four under arrest for drug-related offences.
29:40Happy we've got some weapons.
29:41We've got a knuckle duster here.
29:43We've got a BB gun just there.
29:46We've got another one.
29:49So, yeah, we'll get them back to the station, get them all seized and we'll get these people interviewed.
29:55We've found deal bags, we've found the drugs, we've found the cash, everything that evidence that dealing's been taking place here.
30:01So, hopefully, some enforcement will retire it away and we can get some people prosecuted.
30:06With several bagloads of unsavoury gear taken out of circulation, Lydia and the team can head back to base and try to figure out what's really been going down on this street.
30:18So, the four people that we've got in custody are going to be interviewed now.
30:22We can do some work behind the scenes as well.
30:25To get some intelligence on the drug dealing, see how far into it they are.
30:30From that, we'll make a decision as to whether we need to release them, keep them, charge them.
30:35So, overall, a good job.
30:38The chat with COVID and his partner were nicked for both Class A and B offences.
30:44But, after an investigation, they were released without charge.
30:48The man and woman in the other house were charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis and they're awaiting trial.
30:55More than 10,000 motorists are nicked each year for driving an unroad-worthy car.
31:05Stopped because of this.
31:07Windscreen.
31:08And a fence which could land you with a two and a half grand fine.
31:12So, this isn't working?
31:14Right.
31:14Again, where is your side repeater?
31:17That in itself is dangerous.
31:19Look at it.
31:20So, drivers with no MOT, beware.
31:23The interceptors are always watching.
31:27Vehicles with no MOT, could be people forget.
31:30But it may be that they know their vehicle's got a number of defects that's unsafe and they can't afford to get them fixed.
31:38It might mean that you've got a high number of vehicles on the road that are unsafe to be on the road.
31:45And therefore, it puts more people at risk of harm if certain components of that vehicle fail.
31:50It's the early hours of a wet and miserable Wednesday morning.
32:06Interceptors Chris and Scott have got their sights locked on a yellow Peugeot
32:10that's been getting a little too friendly with the van in front.
32:14Why not?
32:15They've got no MOT since March.
32:20They're in the Mark car.
32:22But the Peugeot's dodgy driving suggests he hasn't even noticed he's being tailed.
32:28That was a bit of a weird diary dive.
32:30What has he done?
32:33It looks like the driver's headed for the petrol pumps,
32:36but he's going to get a lot more than a full tank and a packet full of quavers.
32:43Hello, sir. Can I have your licence, please?
32:45Over to you, Scott.
32:47Your manner of driving is absolutely appalling.
32:51What's happened?
32:52Your driving is really bad.
32:55What was wrong?
32:56You were following the van in front of you,
32:59probably about that far away from the back of the van.
33:03And that's not an exaggeration either.
33:06Is there any reason for it?
33:09Are you in a hurry?
33:11Late for work or anything like that?
33:13No, I've got time.
33:14So why are you driving that close to a van in front of you?
33:19The man evidently doesn't feel like he's done much wrong,
33:22but Scott's just getting going.
33:24It's raining, for starters.
33:28If you needed to brake, or if that van breaks,
33:30you'll be crashing into the back of it.
33:31You were following it at about half a second.
33:35I controlled everything, sir.
33:37You weren't in control, no.
33:39You were going too fast, too close.
33:42In the wet, you need to leave at least four seconds.
33:44In the dry, you need to leave two, and you were leaving about half a second at best.
33:48At 40 miles an hour, the stopping distance is 36 metres, or nine car lengths.
33:54But in rain like this, you can double it.
33:57Do you know your car has no MOT since March?
34:01I'd like to check.
34:04You need to check.
34:06Especially when that wheel's a slick.
34:13That wheel feels like a slick.
34:15Can I have your keys, please?
34:18Thank you very much.
34:19I'm just going to put your wheels on to full lock.
34:21Petrolhead Scott's dream motor is a Lamborghini,
34:26and in his spare time likes nothing more than tinkering with his motorbike.
34:32But you don't need a BTEC in car maintenance to see what's up with a Peugeot.
34:37Locky.
34:38Cords are exposed on the front and the side.
34:41You see it down the middle.
34:43The tyres are smoother than a Craig David record.
34:47The insurance is social, domestic, pleasure and business use.
34:50I'm kidding.
34:52Worn or under-inflated tyres are responsible for around 500 casualties on the road each year.
35:00I start at five o'clock.
35:03It'll be probably about another ten minutes or so,
35:05because we need to go through some paperwork with you.
35:07But if you weren't driving that close to a van,
35:09you wouldn't have caught our attention.
35:12The problem is, I'll show you on this tyre, if you come round this way.
35:16Yeah, so you've got cords exposed on your tyre for starters,
35:20and your vehicle doesn't have an MOT.
35:21So, with all due respect, you've only got yourself to blame.
35:29So, do you need your car to get to and from work?
35:33Yeah.
35:34Well, you need to be maintaining your car better, don't you?
35:36The Interceptor specialise in dishing out valuable life lessons.
35:42Yeah, there's your keys back.
35:43Perfect.
35:44Take care.
35:45Whether this one has sunk in is anyone's guess.
35:49Having little to no tread, the core's exposed,
35:52most of your braking goes through the front tyres.
35:54If that van needed to brake,
35:56he wouldn't have been able to brake effectively,
35:58and it would have just caused an RTC.
36:01That sort of driving's not acceptable,
36:02and that's what causes people to get hurt.
36:05Maybe he'll learn a lesson from tonight.
36:07I doubt it, though.
36:10The punishment he got might just do the trick.
36:13For driving carelessly without an MOT and on bald tyres,
36:17the bloke received more than £1,600 in fines,
36:21plus five points on his licence.
36:22Still to come.
36:26Can you just step out of the car for me, please, sir?
36:29A cocky driver who thinks the law is merely optional.
36:32Do what I want when I want and how I want.
36:34Sometimes you get caught, sometimes you don't.
36:52In Northampton, Paul and Harrison are one of a number of units
36:59blue-lighting to reports of an altercation after an RTC.
37:04It's a driver of the vehicle still on scene,
37:06and it's crashed.
37:08It sounds like they've all run off.
37:11But as one job tails off,
37:14another runaway appears.
37:17Dog in the road there.
37:18If there's no-one fighting, we need to get this dog out of the road.
37:236-4, we're going to have to stop a second.
37:25There's a dog running loose in the road.
37:26If no-one's fighting, we'll hang by here for a second.
37:31Come here.
37:34Hey.
37:35Come here.
37:36Houston, is it your dog?
37:37Yeah, it's my castle.
37:40This cheeky chap slipped a collar
37:42whilst out shopping with its owner.
37:44Come here.
37:47Come here.
37:49And now risks being hit by a car.
37:52Is that its collar?
37:53Yeah.
37:54So, armed with its collar, lead and some Scooby snacks,
37:57Harrison gets to work.
38:03Harrison's a bona fide dog nut
38:04whose ideal day out is a walk in the country
38:07with his golden retriever and beloved cockapoo.
38:10Here, come here.
38:14Today, he's settling for a run-around town
38:16with a mischievous mutt.
38:17Here, come here.
38:20Even with the help of the local shopkeeper...
38:22Where's that tree?
38:24...the spooked pet refuses to play ball.
38:27Oh, man.
38:28But in this game of fetch,
38:30Harrison is determined to come out top dog.
38:32It's fine.
38:34It's fine.
38:36Pause up, you nicks.
38:39Join the police, is that?
38:41Good skills.
38:43You're a dog, madam.
38:43Yeah.
38:44Thank you very much.
38:45Thank you so much.
38:46Thank you so much.
38:46Thank you so much.
38:46God bless you.
38:47With one relieved owner reunited with her canine companion,
38:52Harrison and Paul's work is done.
38:55Ugh.
38:58I looked at it and thought,
38:59that dog's at full speed there.
39:01I could take it.
39:03The more you run, the more they run.
39:04Yeah, but I figured my run will get quicker
39:06or that dog will get tired.
39:08It's just who gets tired first.
39:14A few days later,
39:16the boys are back out again,
39:18patrolling the same neighbourhood.
39:20Where's that little black car?
39:22It's heading out Kingsort Way,
39:23which is basically heading...
39:24Up there?
39:26Yeah, basically that direction.
39:28A wanted motor has just started
39:30pinging ANPR cameras all across town.
39:33It's just driving around all day.
39:36Pretended to go after that, you know.
39:38Paul puts his boot down.
39:41See you left, mate.
39:43The motor they're after is a black Chevrolet
39:46and it's on the cop's wanted list.
39:49It's a vehicle on a marker,
39:51which has got a male drive,
39:52potentially no licence, no insurance,
39:54no MOT, no tax.
39:55We've just been driving about quite a bit.
39:58That's a full house of motoring offences.
40:01Get onto the Kettering Road
40:02and try and get in front of it.
40:04But can Paul intercept it
40:05before it slips back out of town?
40:08The vehicle's also got
40:09a carrier bag over a window,
40:12so it should be quite distinct in this spot.
40:15Not much is known about the driver,
40:17apart from the fact
40:18that he moves in mysterious ways.
40:21The trouble is with this car,
40:22it just seems to be going round and round,
40:24doesn't it?
40:24Yeah, there's no way
40:25you can kind of plot up for it.
40:27Now Harrison reckons
40:29they're closing in.
40:31No, thank you.
40:32Go left, left, left, left here.
40:33Left here.
40:36The Chevrolet's pinged another camera
40:38just around the corner.
40:41He should be with it shortly, hopefully.
40:43There's something else
40:44around the corner too.
40:46Rush hour traffic.
40:47Oh.
40:48This could make it interesting here.
40:50Plastic bag, 11 o'clock.
40:53There it is.
40:55Stop it.
40:57Tell him, are you all right?
40:59Can you just pull up
40:59to the side of the road for us, please?
41:00Yeah.
41:01Cheers.
41:03The driver seems friendly enough,
41:05so what's the story?
41:07You all right?
41:08Yeah, what's up?
41:10So we've got information,
41:11so this vehicle's not insured,
41:12taxable,
41:13and if you've got a licence or not.
41:14Is that the case?
41:15That is.
41:16Have you got a licence?
41:17No.
41:17You haven't?
41:18No.
41:18Have the keys, please, then.
41:19He's immediately fessed up
41:22to four separate offences.
41:24Can you just step out
41:25of the car for me, please, sir?
41:27And doesn't appear
41:28to be the slightest bit bothered
41:29about any of them.
41:31You are shown
41:32his expired substantive licence,
41:34which means you obviously
41:35haven't renewed it.
41:37If you've not got insurance,
41:38you'll be reported
41:39for the consideration
41:39of the question of prosecution
41:40offence of driving
41:41otherwise on contact
41:42of the licence
41:42of driving no insurance.
41:44We'll do some paperwork,
41:44but unfortunately,
41:45it means the vehicle
41:45will be seized.
41:46Yep.
41:46Yep.
41:47I'm going to make a phone call now.
41:48Yeah, yeah, of course you can.
41:51The Chevy's off to the pound.
41:53I've been half-inched.
41:54So he calls his partner
41:56to deliver the news.
41:57The Feds.
42:00Federal agents
42:01working for the government.
42:05I'll ping you a s***
42:06if you wouldn't mind
42:07coming to get me back.
42:09All right, honey.
42:10Love you.
42:12Very surprising.
42:14It's just...
42:15I've just admitted to...
42:16No licence, no insurance.
42:19I think he's just chanced it,
42:21hasn't he?
42:22The man, however,
42:23reckons that he's not
42:24your average lawbreaker.
42:27I don't agree
42:28with the system that we're in.
42:29I don't think we should
42:30be paying road tax.
42:30I don't think we should be
42:31paying insurance.
42:33The whole system that we're in
42:35is an absolute crock of s***.
42:37Soon to be falling, hopefully.
42:38So, basically,
42:39I don't take any notice of it.
42:41Do what I want
42:42when I want
42:42and how I want.
42:43Sometimes you get caught,
42:44sometimes you don't.
42:45Like members of the so-called
42:49Freeman of the Land movement,
42:50he claims to be a sovereign citizen
42:52and believes he's not subject
42:54to the same laws
42:55as the rest of us.
42:56If you're a sovereign individual,
42:58the law is
42:59do not hurt anybody,
43:01don't steal,
43:02and be kind to your neighbour.
43:04They're the basic laws.
43:05You know,
43:06there's good and bad
43:06in all systems
43:08and these guys have been fair.
43:09I've been fair with them
43:10so they've been fair in return.
43:11What more can you ask for?
43:12Getting a licence
43:14and some insurance
43:14would be a good start.
43:17Magic Mushrooms
43:17is what released me, mate.
43:20It's weird, man.
43:22Released me from...
43:23You sound like
43:23you highly recommend them.
43:24Oh, no.
43:25They released me
43:26from the system, bro.
43:26I'm telling you.
43:27I'm not a drug user,
43:29but Magic Mushrooms
43:29are f***ing awesome.
43:33Apparently,
43:33the road to enlightenment
43:34is paved
43:35with Magic Mushrooms.
43:38Take it easier.
43:38Take care, you too.
43:40See you later, Chief.
43:41The man's lift is here
43:42and he's free to go,
43:43but it's unlikely
43:44he'll be calling the DVLA
43:46any time soon.
43:48I think it's going to
43:49change my mindset.
43:50I've run my life
43:51how I want to run it.
43:52I'm not being legislated
43:53by no shitty system.
43:55Just keep on trucking.
43:56Namaste.
43:58And every interceptor
44:00in the county
44:00will be watching.
44:03It's all well and good
44:04him saying that
44:04and he can have his opinions,
44:06but if he was to crash
44:07into someone
44:07when he should be driving
44:08on the road,
44:09he'd find himself
44:10in a lot of trouble.
44:12And to be fair,
44:13he's had a license
44:14in the past,
44:14so it's not like
44:15he can't get one
44:16or refuse to get one.
44:17But he was all right
44:19with us,
44:19so he's perfectly friendly.
44:23It's just,
44:24he's obviously,
44:25he knew what was happening.
44:26He just chanced it
44:27and thought he'd get away
44:27with it.
44:30Unfortunately,
44:30now it's probably
44:31going to be disqualified.
44:32It's going to be even harder
44:32for him to get driving again.
44:34In his absence,
44:35the man was convicted
44:35of driving
44:36without a license
44:37or insurance.
44:38He was fined
44:39over £1,300
44:40and banned
44:41from driving
44:42for six months.
