Police Interceptors S25E02 (19th January 2026)
Transcript
00:02This is Police Interceptors.
00:05Police Interceptors are all I for.
00:06I'm going to tell my kids about this.
00:08And you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:13Come on!
00:14Ace Pursuit drivers.
00:16Contact, contact, contact.
00:18With air support.
00:19Got two out, stand by.
00:22And a crack dog unit.
00:24If you leave, you will get hit.
00:27They bring down the bad guys.
00:30I believe you're one of those.
00:33Keep the streets safe.
00:38And battle 24-7.
00:43In the war on crime.
00:45Crash, crash.
00:47On the floor, wow!
00:48This is what it is, isn't it? We find them, we lock them up.
00:53Coming up.
00:56A bid to escape, whatever it takes.
00:58We're being round, we're being round.
01:01Let go of me, bro. Get off.
01:03Let go of me now!
01:05Callum races to help a cop in need.
01:08I'll turn you back now.
01:09No, man.
01:10It's all right.
01:13And...
01:13We've got three and six.
01:15The end of the road for cross-border criminals.
01:34It's a sunny summer's evening shift.
01:38Interceptors Rob and Charlie have tracked down a wanted motor.
01:46Which a member of the public has seen being driven dangerously.
01:53Yeah, I'm going to come.
01:59Yay.
02:01There's no mistaking the cops want a word.
02:05Question is, will the bloke oblige?
02:10It's touch and go.
02:18Then the dodgy driver gives them his answer.
02:31Straight out the gate, he's put to the floor.
02:34We are Boots Lane North, into town.
02:38Occupants unknown.
02:39Unknown if any, juvenile's or weapons on board.
02:42Reason for getaway, also unknown.
02:46Right, right, right.
02:49However, the occupants are dropping clues.
02:52Alcohol thrown out the side window.
02:53Alcohol thrown out the side window for the passenger now.
02:58Possibly drunk and behind the wheel of a two-ton truck,
03:01they need to get the driver stopped fast.
03:08Reinforcements are en route.
03:13Including dog handler, Dan.
03:16Vehicle sale stopped for the traffic cars.
03:19It's coming out in the villages at the moment,
03:22between Malton and Pittsfield,
03:24so we'll just end up there just in case we get a decal.
03:27A few miles away,
03:29the suspected drink driver has no intention of pulling over.
03:33We're only IPP advanced,
03:35so when they're closer, they'll take over.
03:38Rallying through country roads in low sun.
03:41Vehicle continues, mountain green blue, speed eight.
03:47Taking potentially lethal risks.
03:51Currently, we're at risk.
03:53We are right, right.
03:55Down to drive by.
03:57To tell for a very high risk,
03:59he's nearly crashed into more common vehicle.
04:01That's medium.
04:05Bouncing off the curb,
04:07he's inches from disaster with a delivery van.
04:11Vehicle speed, seven, zero, medium risk.
04:14Over to the manner of driving.
04:15There's no way he can outgun the Interceptor's BMW 340.
04:22Good?
04:23Yeah, just don't want to get around.
04:26We are left, left, straight to my life.
04:29So he's leading Rob and Charlie onto tricky terrain.
04:33Speed five, zero, medium risk.
04:36Taking full advantage of the Mitsubishi's ability
04:40to handle the country track.
04:44Going towards Pittsburgh Road.
04:47It's a rough ride in the low slung 340.
04:50And it's about to get bumpier.
04:56Sabi's coming to a stop.
04:58Wait.
05:00We're being rammed.
05:01We're being rammed.
05:04Minimal damage.
05:06They're up close to them.
05:07We're still spectacle name.
05:16The runaway's going at breakneck speeds down the lane.
05:21The bump's not on, mate.
05:23Get it on.
05:24Then you can.
05:25It's a spectacle lane.
05:27Towards Pittsburgh Road, generally.
05:30It's a re-loss.
05:32Re-loss.
05:33Right, it's gone right.
05:34Has it gone right?
05:34And if rammed can't get the cops off his tail...
05:37Just keep going.
05:38Just keep going.
05:38Just keep going.
05:41Perhaps a DIY roadblock will do the job.
05:45It's off the lid.
05:46The roof to his vehicles come off.
05:48It's the dip for the truck.
05:50Get out of the way.
05:51Get out of the way.
05:51Get out of the way.
05:52Charlie clears their path.
05:56Go.
05:57Yeah, I'm going.
05:58I'm trying.
05:59I'm trying.
05:59I'm going to get out of the way.
06:01Out of my car.
06:02To get his roof out of the road.
06:06Last sight in my spectacle lane.
06:09Towards Pittsburgh Road.
06:10It's Pittsburgh Road.
06:11All they can do is follow the Mitsubishi's dust trail to a junction.
06:19Left or right?
06:21I think it's gone right.
06:22Just the dust.
06:23You good, left, good, left, good, left.
06:29Weird bits of road in towards Melbourne now.
06:32It's a total loss at this time.
06:37Mitsubishi man has vanished.
06:41So, vehicle is lost at the moment.
06:43So, we've got loads of units now combing the area, trying to find it.
06:49So, it's going to have come out of a little rough road, which is just down here somewhere.
06:56On the way, Dan checks in with Rob and Charlie.
07:00He's reversed ramp there.
07:01He got any damage?
07:02It didn't look like he got any damage.
07:03I've got a tiny, tiny little hole in the middle of the grill.
07:07Oh, God, yeah, yeah.
07:08Because spectacle lane is rough.
07:10It's a hard road to ride up.
07:12It felt it.
07:13Yeah.
07:14Do you think he could have taken one of the gateways?
07:16I think he's come this way.
07:18Okay.
07:18I don't know where he's gone off that.
07:19I'll have a look in the college.
07:21Nice one.
07:21Cheers, boys.
07:31Before long...
07:35Another unit hits the jackpot.
07:38It's probably going to be abandoning a good 20-odd minutes now.
07:41With this heat, we might struggle a bit.
07:43We'll give it a go, though.
07:44So, we'll get Kohler out.
07:45Oh, found it.
07:46It's just gone past.
07:49Ditched in a hedgerow, paint spilled everywhere,
07:52it's a shame there aren't any red footprints to follow.
07:56Hopefully, Dan's crewmate, police dog Kohler,
07:59will pick up a whiff of the runaway.
08:04Kohler.
08:05Kohler.
08:09Track on.
08:13Dan and super sniffer Kohler have been crewmates for four years.
08:18Her favourite game is hide-and-seek.
08:23Yes, mate.
08:24We just cast around the moment.
08:31And immediately, she's detecting a track.
08:39Leading to a gate.
08:42Okay.
08:43Okay.
08:44Okay.
08:58We track quite nicely to this gateway, but I'm not getting anything further beyond there
09:02at the moment.
09:04But beyond the gate, the trail goes cold.
09:07So, I think, potentially, they've been picked up.
09:09It's a standard old dog handler excuse, but I think that might be the case tonight.
09:14Nevertheless, seizing the Mitsubishi is a victory for the team,
09:17and there's no serious damage to Rob Spemer.
09:21We might not have the driver or the occupants, but we've got the vehicle.
09:26He can't do anything as reckless or as stupid as dangerous again.
09:29I think someone told me once that they have to be lucky every time.
09:32We have to be lucky once.
09:35So, hopefully, that's his luck all used up now.
09:38And next time it comes to 50-50, he'll pick wrong, and we'll catch up with whoever it is.
09:47After the pursuit, the driver phoned 999, claiming his car had been stolen.
09:52Enquiries placed him in the driving seat, realizing he was out of luck,
09:56pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, and no insurance.
10:01He received a 16-month suspended prison sentence and a four-year disqualification.
10:12Coming up...
10:15An off-duty officer under attack.
10:18Go!
10:19Take over!
10:22And...
10:22When was the last time you had anything to eat or drink?
10:24About an hour and a half.
10:26The drink driver has a double fail.
10:29His tie is totally bold on this side.
10:48They say crime never sleeps.
10:51But interceptors rarely switch off, either.
10:54I have arrested someone off-duty.
10:56I was out for the day with my family, and we'd stopped somewhere at a supermarket,
11:01and someone barrelled through my wife and my son.
11:07followed by a security guard.
11:09This guy had been in and had stolen around about £1,000 worth of alcohol
11:14on sort of consecutive days.
11:17So we had a little foot chase, and then I caught him on a dual carriageway not too far away.
11:21And the kind people at the supermarket bought us our lunch for the day
11:26as a way of thank you.
11:29Stepping in doesn't always end so well.
11:40Yes, you are under arrest.
11:41You're not a trip.
11:42You're not a trip.
11:42You're not a trip.
11:43An off-duty police officer is challenging two suspected shoplifters in a supermarket.
11:49That's fine.
11:50One of the suspects has already been detained.
11:53He's a police officer, mate.
11:54He knows what he's doing.
11:55He's a police officer.
11:55He knows what he's doing.
11:58He's a police officer.
11:58However, his alleged accomplice in the grey hoodie isn't as willing to stay put.
12:02Let go of me, let go of me, let go of me.
12:09Let go of me, let go of me.
12:09What are you putting me in here for?
12:11Let go of me.
12:13Let go of me.
12:14Let go of me.
12:15Let go of me.
12:15Goof.
12:16Let go of me.
12:18Head-butting the off-duty cop in the mouth.
12:24Oh my God.
12:26Let go of me.
12:27Let go of me.
12:28The raging bloke is only just getting started.
12:31Hey, listen, let go of me.
12:33Get him off me.
12:34Get him off me.
12:36Get off me.
12:36As the officer, without any kit, grapples to keep hold of the suspected shoplifter,
12:41Let go of me.
12:42All available units are blue lighting to the scene, including interceptor Callum Donoghue.
12:50Can we treat it as a 10-0, that's the off-duty officer has been smacked in the face.
12:57The officer's eye is being pulled.
12:59Any unit can make the very, very front counter.
13:02Get there as quick as we can.
13:05Help can't come soon enough, because in the supermarket...
13:08Help me, call me Louie.
13:11Get.
13:12Get.
13:12Get.
13:13Get.
13:14Get.
13:14Get.
13:14Get.
13:14Get.
13:16Get.
13:18Get.
13:19Get.
13:22Get.
13:23Get.
13:24Get.
13:24Get.
13:24Get.
13:24Get.
13:25Get.
13:25Get.
13:25Get.
13:27Get.
13:27Get.
13:35Get.
13:37Get.
13:41Get.
13:43Stop, stop, calm down, calm down.
13:46Get off me, get off me.
13:49Calm down, start throwing wrenches.
13:51Get off me, get off me, let go of me, let go of me now.
13:59The stand-off is reaching boiling point.
14:02Get off me, let go of me now.
14:07Move, get off me.
14:13There's five men trying to keep hold of the suspected shoplifter.
14:17How many are you there?
14:19Let go of me, let go of me.
14:23Yet still he's lashing out at the loan officer.
14:26Calm yourself down.
14:30Let go of me, let go of me now.
14:33Come on Mark, I'm doing ten seconds.
14:37First uniform on scene is Callum.
14:50He's not wasting any time getting this guy in cuffs.
14:58I'll be on you back now.
15:00No, no, no.
15:04His mouthy mate is second in line.
15:07Big man you are, ain't you?
15:10Watch, bro, watch.
15:13Unsurprisingly, everyone is keen to get this pair off to the nick pronto.
15:18Come here.
15:18Pull me nicely, bro.
15:19Pull me nicely.
15:19I'm not going to pull you nicely.
15:22Don't manhandle me.
15:23I beg you, don't hand me.
15:25Oh, because I'm in cuffs now, yeah?
15:27Yeah.
15:28Don't you want to walk that fast mate?
15:30Move.
15:33They might moan about manhandling, but it's the off-duty officer who's suffered a serious injury.
15:40So I've gone out here, detained him, taken him in, and then basically, see, and then nodded me, knocking out
15:47my tooth.
15:48Knocked out your tooth?
15:49Yes.
15:52Last year, over 50,000 police officers in the UK were assaulted.
15:56Around one attack every 10 minutes.
15:59It's hard not to get frustrated when people are assaulting your colleagues.
16:01I've never met that officer, but he's trying to do a good job and he's been assaulted.
16:05Knocking out his front tooth and caused quite serious facial injury.
16:08I'm not sure how much longer they could have been in the situation they were, had people not turned up.
16:14It's a team game.
16:15We've all got to support each other, and that's exactly what we've done today.
16:20The charge of shoplifting was dropped at court, and no legal action was taken against the man who was all
16:25mouth.
16:28However, the head-butting man pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker.
16:33He was ordered to pay £1,284 in compensation and sentenced to 23 weeks behind bars.
16:44I'd like to say no one got hurt.
16:46Unfortunately, this time a cop did get hurt, but it's the reality of the job, and it's important to show
16:51this sort of thing, because it's what we do on a day-to-day basis.
17:03Behind the wheel of a marked BMW 340i is interceptor Chris Guttridge.
17:19After transferring from Thames Valley Police last month, he's quickly getting to grit with Northamptonshire's 914 square mile patch.
17:35Yes, yes, I've sat perfectly, just about to get on the eastbound.
17:39Excellent.
17:44Control have received a report about a suspected drink driver coming down the A14 in a Ford Focus.
17:51So it should be coming from behind us.
17:55Plotting a prime position, Chris pulls in for a stakeout.
18:00So any second now, it should be free.
18:02Hopefully.
18:08Policing is Chris's first and only job.
18:10Having joined up at 18, off-duty, he's into clay pigeon shooting.
18:20Unless it's come off before, I don't think we'd have missed it.
18:25However, tonight, it's odd he hasn't yet got the drink driver in his sights.
18:30Swerving all over the roads.
18:32Doesn't mention that they're going particularly slow.
18:39Intel suggests the suspect should eventually pass Chris on their way home.
18:46You might not be on to a winner here and only.
18:55There we go.
19:02At last, he's got eyes on the prize.
19:06Finally got contact, contact with the vehicle.
19:09He's doing 4-0 in the 70 at the moment.
19:13I'll try and follow me board and get him off the next junction, I think.
19:18There's a road closure up ahead, giving Chris the opportunity to have a word with a potentially drunk driver.
19:28Turn off here for me.
19:31Come off here for me.
19:32Or at least try to.
19:35Follow me.
19:36Follow me.
19:38With a little help from the Beamer's in-car matrix board,
19:42Chris escorts the driver off at the junction.
19:51Hello.
19:53Not too bad.
19:54The reason I've stopped you, sir, is you've had a report you've been weaving all over the road.
19:58You're slurring your words, you're unsteady on your feet.
20:00So I suspect you might have been drinking some alcohol today.
20:03Okay.
20:04And you could be impaired.
20:05So what I'm going to do, I'm going to require you to provide me with a specimen of breath.
20:07Okay.
20:07Fine.
20:08You'll follow me to my car.
20:08Yeah.
20:09When was the last time you had anything to eat or drink?
20:11About an hour and a half.
20:12When was the last time you had a smoke, cigarette, a vape, anything like that?
20:15Um, I've had a cigarette about an hour ago.
20:18An hour ago.
20:19Perfectly.
20:19Yeah.
20:19Pop your hands out your pockets for me.
20:20Just come and join me on the pavement over here.
20:22If the drive is staggering, is anything to go by?
20:25What's your name, sir?
20:26My name is Parasatoria.
20:28Sorry?
20:29Parasatoria.
20:31Things aren't looking good for the breath test.
20:33So don't blow as hard as you can.
20:34Just a nice, even blow for us.
20:36Okay.
20:36Right.
20:36When you're ready, do that for me.
20:39And blow, blow, blow.
20:41Keep going, keep going.
20:42Perfect.
20:42That just waits a couple of seconds to check it.
20:45Anything under 35 is a pass.
20:48So that's a fail at 58.
20:50So you're over the limit.
20:51Okay.
20:52So all that means is you're under arrest at the moment for driving a motor vehicle over
20:55the specified alcohol limit.
20:56Okay.
20:57Just turn around for me and place your hands on the small of your back.
21:02The number of deaths from collisions involving a drink driver have hit the highest level for
21:07more than a decade.
21:09All right.
21:09Have a seat in there for me, sir.
21:12This bloke is lucky.
21:13His night is only ending up with a trip to custody.
21:16Yeah.
21:17Cool.
21:17Right.
21:18Sort his car out.
21:20You could tell straight away he's wobbling all over the place as soon as he's got out of
21:23the car.
21:24He sinks of alcohol.
21:25To be fair, it looks like at some point he's hit something.
21:28I don't think that's tonight from the tape.
21:29But the car's not in the best of the conditions over.
21:36His tyre is totally bold on this side.
21:40This chap's car's in a right state.
21:43Road worthiness.
21:44I mean, I don't think that lights to be working correctly.
21:47It's certainly smashed.
21:48You've got multiple tyres on it that are bold.
21:50It's just not fit for the road, which is scary enough as it is.
21:53But when you consider the facts that he's drunk as well, when he's clearly getting steady
21:57on his feet, it's a bit of a disaster waiting to happen, unfortunately.
22:00But good job we've got him.
22:04Chris is going to seize the shed of a motor to ensure it's made road worthy before anyone
22:09else drives it.
22:11Fellow Interceptor Stewart is arriving to sort recovery.
22:17All right.
22:17I just need a key.
22:19There you go.
22:20That's all right.
22:20Cheers.
22:22While Chris turns his attention to delivering the drunk driver to the Nick.
22:27Weeklywood's probably closest to here.
22:28It'll have to be, yeah.
22:30Yeah.
22:32Weakleywood's custody suite it is.
22:36Oh, tell you one, mate.
22:38Just balance yourself here or you're going to fall over.
22:40The sozzled suspect gives another two samples of breath.
22:47So that's 65 and 64, so you're well over.
22:50OK.
22:52Confirming he's nearly double the limit, it seems the driver is resigned to his fate.
22:57Just sit tight from there.
22:58We're going to be detaining you for a bit longer so that you're up.
23:00Yeah.
23:00Everyone's going to come down.
23:01That's fine.
23:02I can still request a solicitor.
23:03They'll still have a chat with you.
23:04It doesn't make a difference.
23:05I'll just admit to you, right, that I've been a couple of drinks.
23:08Right?
23:08OK.
23:09And if that was over the limit, that's my fault.
23:11That's not anyone else's.
23:12Do you want me to get, would you like this cool one?
23:14No.
23:15I only provided him 58 on the breath flies at the roadside.
23:20I was quite shocked at the level compared to how unfit he was.
23:24It's quite rare where you actually get them and they're almost falling out of the car like
23:28we saw tonight.
23:29I have no doubt at all he'll be disqualified for this.
23:31He'll lose his licence.
23:32Could well impact his job depending on what his employment is.
23:35So it's just dangerous really.
23:36As a whole, it's a good job we've got him off the road.
23:42The drunk driver was indeed disqualified from driving for 18 months and he had to pay fines
23:47totalling £847.
23:57Coming up.
23:58I think we've got the vehicle.
24:01Suspecting cannabis farm robbers on the road.
24:05Passing door, shopping out the left end window.
24:11And who is a disqualified person?
24:13It's my daughter, Nicole.
24:15Harrison is one step ahead in a game of guess who.
24:19And what should I do, please, Rose?
24:2157.
24:45There's no limit to the risks suspects will take to evade the law.
24:57But the classic combo of a stealthy stinger.
25:02Freeze down, freeze down, freeze down.
25:04Plus an unbreakable box puts a pin in many of the suit.
25:10Play super games, win super prizes.
25:19Following an ANPR camera hit in neighbouring Leicestershire, Interceptors believe a car on clone plates is now travelling through Northamptonshire.
25:36MPAS, the National Police Air Service, are tracking the target.
25:41A5, Water Street, here whipped off, there, have I?
25:45A5, Water Street, here whipped off, there, have I?
25:46Criminals use false plates to conceal anything from a stolen car to serious organised crime.
25:52I can't tell if anybody's in the past, it's just the driver I can see visually at this time.
25:56And this motor has got quite the back story.
26:00Just stay driving, normal.
26:06After a cannabis farm burglary in the early hours, police taser the suspect who jumped out of a window.
26:12Allegedly making their escape in this cloned car.
26:16It's dual carriageway, it's in lane one.
26:19Thanks to N-PASS, ground units are tightening the net on the target.
26:26Armed pursuit drivers are making for the A5.
26:31Potentious and drug offences, I think, to the sounds of it.
26:35Once again, Dan and police dog Kola are en route in case there are any runaways.
26:40They could be up to tune, suspect in this vehicle.
26:44And an unmarked unit is lying in wait, ready to tail the suspect car.
26:51There we go.
26:55Contact, contact.
26:56Shout out to the old boy, just toss it hot and shot.
27:01Contact, contact, receive.
27:04It's just passing what looks like a guard centre, something like that, air sign.
27:09We are unmarked.
27:11We've got to be 50 degrees in line.
27:17Interceptors behind, above, and now a few miles ahead.
27:22Stand well, stand well.
27:24We've got an outside indication.
27:25I've had that, I've had that, I've had that, towards the A5.
27:29Oh, indeed, the unwitting driver is heading towards a stinger.
27:45Spikes are out.
27:56They've blown his tyres and their cover.
28:00Yeah, it's now fine, Scott.
28:02We're at ATS, temporarily high risk.
28:06But there's slim chance of a second getaway in this clone.
28:10It's got deterioration in his tyres.
28:13Sat and still garage.
28:16The team are moving in.
28:19We've got three in six.
28:23A marked car leads to charge of three T-PAC or boxing units.
28:28Speed four, five.
28:30Major.
28:33Dog man Dan's at the rear, ready for runaways.
28:38And they swiftly follow up the stinger with a T-PAC chaser.
28:51Colder's out the hatch and raring to go.
28:54Stop, stop, stop.
28:56And pass it, go.
28:57Shook it out the left, out the right window.
28:59Shook it, go.
29:05Colder's elite speed isn't needed today.
29:07Oh, watch it, hold it, hold it, watch it.
29:13Two men in the car are nicked.
29:16That's all the occupants accounted for.
29:20The driver may have tossed something down here.
29:25Although the suspected cannabis farm robbers may have tried to discard evidence.
29:35A small bag is quickly recovered.
29:40Then the suspect on his feet is spotted slinging something into the bushes behind him.
29:56Weeding it out is a job for Dan and Kola.
30:01Good girl.
30:05Good girl.
30:07Good girl.
30:08There's a phone down here as well.
30:12Wait.
30:13Thanks.
30:14Obviously, I can see it quite plainly, but she doesn't know what it is,
30:17and she's indicated and said that it's been recently handled.
30:20Some of our phones are an absolute goldmine of evidence.
30:23So, you know, obviously, if he doesn't want us to have it,
30:25there is a reason behind that.
30:31There's a tiny bit in the earphone.
30:33Yeah.
30:35Fellow Interceptor bomber is on hand to look for any more evidence
30:38in the alleged getaway car.
30:40No one's tasered anyone, have they?
30:48That's definitely a taser barb.
30:50Not this side, but whatever.
30:52The taser barb has a serial number which can be checked
30:55against the police taser fired at the cannabis farm.
30:59That's what we've found, but it doesn't really sit with the information that we had.
31:05They've probably offloaded anything they've nicked from the burglary
31:08before they've started this journey.
31:12Checks also reveal the clone plates have been placed on a nicked motor.
31:16So, stolen car, false plates, been involved in that great burglary up in Nottinghamshire.
31:22So, yeah, really, really tidy job and, you know, really nice to get that one safely concluded
31:26and get the bad guys in custody.
31:31No charges were brought against the suspects in relation to the stolen car or the false plates.
31:38The passenger was convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery and sent to prison for four years and eight months.
31:47As for the driver, no action was taken against him for burglary,
31:50but he was convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery, driving dangerously and without a licence or insurance.
31:58He was disqualified for more than two years and jailed for three and a half years.
32:06Lovely bit of cross-border work, got impasse up, and that's been the crucial part,
32:11is having the aircraft above to follow it.
32:15And then we've been able to put a plan together to deal with it safely.
32:19So, really happy.
32:29Once a suspect is stopped, the next round of intercepting begins, filtering facts from fiction.
32:37I guess one of the challenges of the job is that people don't always tell us the truth.
32:42They're sometimes economical with the truth, or sometimes they just tell us bare-faced lies.
32:48Either way, our job is to find out what the truth is,
32:52and there's so many different ways in which we can do that,
32:54whether that be the use of technology or fingerprint scanners,
32:58particularly if people are trying to disguise their identity from us.
33:02It's inevitable that people will lie to us,
33:04but I think nine times out of ten, we normally find out the truth.
33:15In the north of the county...
33:18Harrison Beverley is behind a Merc,
33:20with a marker flagging it's potentially being used by a disqualified driver.
33:25The female has warnings that impersonates when arrested.
33:29She falsely will provide her mother's details.
33:32I've got an image I can send through to you of her.
33:34Yeah, the picture is brilliant, thank you.
33:36I'll try and stop it. We're just going towards our Sauerlees at the minute.
33:40Copy that.
33:42We'll give it a stop, see if they're driving it as disqual or not.
33:46Armed with the intel, Harrison cuts to the chase.
33:51Hello, you all right?
33:52Are we straight up with you?
33:53This vehicle's got a disqualified marker on it.
33:55No.
33:56Are you disqualified?
33:57I'm not.
33:57Have you got a driver licence?
33:58I haven't got it on me.
33:59It's not a good start.
34:00No, I just don't get any carried around.
34:04And what's your name, please?
34:05My name?
34:06Rose.
34:06Your name's Rose.
34:07Yeah.
34:08Who is the disqualified person?
34:10It's my daughter in your car.
34:11OK.
34:11For me, two seconds.
34:12Let me just do a couple of checks then, and I'll be on your way.
34:17No ID isn't ideal, but there's more than one way to check whether this is the band driver
34:23masquerading as her mum.
34:24Easy way to solve this.
34:25I can ask for a fingerprint from you, which will tell me who you are, if you've got no
34:29identity on you.
34:30Is that necessary?
34:31Yeah.
34:32I'll be as fair as possible with you, but unfortunately, I need to know who you are
34:36as a person.
34:37Given there's also a young child in the car, Harrison needs to be 100% sure the woman
34:43has a licence.
34:45But there's no reason for me to be pulled over at all.
34:47I've explained the reason why I've pulled you over.
34:49Yeah, because the car's...
34:49Yeah, that was my daughter, not myself.
34:51That's OK.
34:51But then I've just asked for some identification.
34:53You haven't got anything on you.
34:57With six years' experience in the job, Harrison's honed his skills at sorting truth from lies,
35:02and alarm bells are ringing.
35:05And what's the date of birth, please, Rose?
35:0857.
35:141957.
35:16She's either an extremely youthful 60-something, or...
35:21OK, I am looking at a picture of Nicole at the minute, and it looks very much like yourself.
35:29Do you want to start telling me the truth?
35:32Yeah?
35:33She's lying.
35:34Let's start the minute.
35:36Oh, look, this is not...
35:38Listen.
35:38The only reason I drove to the shop is because I needed to get something for my kids.
35:41I'm begging you.
35:42Listen, what am I meant to do?
35:44Please just have some, like, compassion.
35:46I'm a human.
35:46I know you've got a little child with you, but equally.
35:49Yeah, you've got a camera shining through my window.
35:51Well, don't swear.
35:51If you're going to give me grief about stopping you, don't swear in front of a child.
35:55I'm not really grief.
35:55You're the one that's driving whilst disqualified, so let's get that straight.
35:59But they need to be so, like, pedantic.
36:01Not to be pedantic, but she's driving whilst disqualified and without insurance.
36:07So while a friend arrives to take the child home, a local unit is also dropping in to help
36:13with the unhappy customer.
36:15Unfortunately.
36:16I don't know why you're being so smug.
36:17Smug?
36:18I'm not being smug.
36:19I'm trying to work with you.
36:20You're the one that's driving whilst disqualified.
36:23You lie to me.
36:24I'm in a panic situation.
36:26Somehow it's my fault that she's driving whilst disqualified.
36:29Why are you so f***ing talking to me, bro?
36:30I'm not talking to you, am I?
36:33Appreciate she's got a young baby with her.
36:35Clearly it's going to affect how we deal with it.
36:37But, you know, it's a risk.
36:38Public, she's disqualified for a drink drive, and so I'd argue she's putting the child at
36:43risk by driving, especially with no insurance.
36:46So, yeah, the child's safe.
36:48That's the main thing.
36:49We'll figure out where we go next.
36:51Time to check in with the Sarge.
36:54Hello, Sarge.
36:55You all right?
36:55It's female.
36:56He's got a three-year-old child.
36:58Either, what's your thoughts on slow time or just custody?
37:01Slow time option means reporting offences at the roadside and avoiding a trip to custody
37:07so the woman can return home to her child.
37:10Yeah, thank you.
37:11I'll use my discretion then and do it at slow time, and then I'll just sit and wait recovery.
37:17The driver is getting the best possible outcome.
37:21I'm not going to go to custody if you don't have to.
37:23It's your first time caught whilst disqualified.
37:26And you've got a child at home that's young.
37:28I'll do arrest you, but I will report you for those two offences.
37:31The car will be seized in Section 165 Road Traffic Act.
37:35Does it need to be well?
37:36It does.
37:38Unfortunately, she's still not happy with the plan.
37:41Grab what you need.
37:42The car will be sent to a secure compound, and then you can...
37:46Oh, it's going to be going to probably Lutterworth from here.
37:49Ridiculous.
37:51Yeah, it's difficult.
37:53At the end of the day, she's driving whilst disqualified.
37:54She's trying to conceal who she is in order to get away with it on this occasion, you know,
38:00use discretion.
38:01The vehicle's recovered.
38:02She'll go to court for no... for a disc or drive and no insurance.
38:05So ultimately, the child's back home and be back with his mum.
38:07So it's a... it's a good outcome in the end, I think.
38:14At court, the woman pleaded guilty to obstructing the police, driving whilst disqualified and
38:20no insurance.
38:22She had to pay a total of £279 in costs, and was banned from the roads for another five
38:29months.
38:31If you're straight up and honest, you know, it's going to be a far easier process.
38:34We get used to it after stopping cars every day, so I've just got to judge it every time
38:38you stop it and, you know, come to an outcome where we're still going to enforce what we need
38:44to enforce ultimately.
38:50Still to come.
38:51How old are you?
38:5370.
38:53I want you to be our new driver there.
38:55A ditch disaster calls for a family rescue mission.
38:59Go!
39:00Keep going, keep going.
39:01Now, rest!
39:25It's been a rainy day in Northamptonshire.
39:31Go ahead with the details.
39:34And the wet roads are creating a busy night shift for Harrison and co-pilot Joe Wood.
39:40There is a van in a ditch with three youngsters around it.
39:42They've put their thumbs up to the corner as they drove past.
39:45It looked like it had just happened.
39:46Yeah.
39:47That's Ignatius.
39:48Just confirm the locus again.
39:50It's a busy road.
40:04The van has come off a country road just outside the small town of Rawnes.
40:09The long straight bit has got a big ditch down it, so I can imagine it's going to be a
40:13long
40:13last.
40:13It could be in the National.
40:15Yeah.
40:18Harrison's so familiar with the territory, he can even pinpoint where the accident's going
40:22to be.
40:25We're on this bend, if any.
40:27Yeah.
40:28That'll be the one.
40:31Ouch.
40:32My eyes slid into a ditch, haven't they?
40:34So we know what's happened here.
40:35You don't need to be a forensic collision investigator to know that he's overcooked it.
40:42You know what?
40:42I'll leave the front blues on as well, Venus.
40:46We're on this unlit section.
40:52You all right, lads?
40:53You all right, mate?
40:53Yeah.
40:53I'm all right.
40:56Looks like the interceptors aren't the only ones responding.
41:00Is this who's getting you out, is it?
41:01Yeah, it's me.
41:01No worries.
41:02Whose van is it?
41:03These van.
41:04Right, no worries.
41:05Are you the driver?
41:06Yeah, I'm.
41:06Cool, no worries.
41:07Before we start dragging it out, we'll just get your details, make sure everything's in
41:11order with the vehicle, and then we'll let you drag it out, all right?
41:14Thankfully, no one is hurt, and the young lads have already organised their own rescue
41:19mission.
41:20Grandad and his truck.
41:23I've got a black box, so I weren't going quick at all, I just lost control of it.
41:26Roads are slippy.
41:28I've not been driving them at all, neither.
41:30How long have you had your licence?
41:31That eight, it's passed in January.
41:34Oh, you passed in January?
41:35Passed in January.
41:35How old are you?
41:36Seven, eight.
41:37All right, so you're our new driver there.
41:40Joe's first car was an Austin Mini.
41:42As a roads policing lead investigator, he knows the teenager's crash could be a genuine
41:47accident.
41:51But he needs to make sure.
41:53So you've not done one of these, then, because you've already just flashed your test?
41:55Yeah, no, never done it.
41:58Hopefully, this is your first and last.
42:00Right, I'll hold the device.
42:02Deep breath in as far as you can, and then blow out until I tell you to stop.
42:05Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, that's it.
42:11Zero.
42:12Perfect, all right.
42:13You grab that, pull it towards you, and you keep that bit.
42:18Everything checks out.
42:19The 17-year-old new driver hasn't touched a drop of drink, and he has a full licence and
42:24insurance.
42:27What's your plan?
42:28See if it just drags out?
42:29Yeah, it should, it should drag out.
42:31Hopefully.
42:32Famous last word.
42:35So the focus quickly shifts to hauling the van out of the ditch, and clearing the perilous
42:40stretch of Country Road.
42:42So we've got family members here that have come to assist him, so they're going to try
42:46and tow it out of the chain, so that'll be interesting, we'll see how they get on.
42:49Hopefully there's not too much damage to it.
42:52Police intercepted, eh?
42:55Grandad and the family get to work.
42:58I've come out in my slipper.
43:02Chain's secure.
43:04Harrison and Joe shut the road.
43:08Fellow, step back out of the way in case the chain comes off it.
43:12And Operation Turbo Toe is go.
43:15Go, right, go, right.
43:16Go.
43:17Go, go, go, go.
43:19Go, go, go.
43:20Go, go, go, go, go.
43:24Go, go, go, go.
43:28Go, go, go, go, go, go.
43:30Go, go, go, go.
43:37is back on the road.
43:43Is this your first vehicle, is it?
43:46In a minute.
43:46Can we check down?
43:47The other one, I blew it up.
43:49Let's move on, shall we?
43:52Hello?
43:53Take your time, you've got all mud in the wheel.
43:56All right.
43:57Can you take an hour for three?
43:59The family are shifting to a safer place
44:01to assess the damage,
44:03meaning Harrison and Joe can get the road open again.
44:09If anyone else comes down that bend
44:10and does the same thing,
44:11then there's going to be another crash.
44:12So, unconventional, but safety-wise,
44:16we're happy now.
44:16So, no injuries,
44:17so at least that's made it a bit of damage
44:19for a pair on his own.
44:21We've all done it, haven't we?
44:23Well, I did.
44:24Not in a ditch as such, but...
44:25Well, no, I've not put it into a ditch,
44:27but I have lost it on a bend
44:28when I was young and stupid.
44:37Well, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
