The legal battle between the Breakfast Shed and the Urban Development Corporation continues.

It has extended their stay at the establishment, as an injunction preventing eviction remains in place, at least until the next hearing.

Both sides have retained two prominent attorneys to put their case forward.

But a new development, as both parties are now in talks.

Here's Alicia Boucher with the details.

00:00We're here at the Femme du Chalet, better known as the Breakfast Shed.
00:03Vendors here have been given just a bit more time.
00:07It comes as their matter pertaining to an injunction filed against the Urban Development Corporation
00:12to prevent their eviction when before the quarter day virtually and has been adjourned.
00:19Head of the Breakfast Shed Cooperative, Robert Lehan, tells us that a court hearing took place at 10 a.m.
00:25on May 26th, which is today.
00:27The Breakfast Shed was represented by Mr. Keith Scotland, and the lead attorney on the side of the Unicot was
00:38Mr. Gerard Ramdeen.
00:40The matter has been postponed or adjourned until the 30th of June.
00:50Lehan says that hearing is set to put forward the substantive matter of the injunction.
00:55It's a legal fight, which the Breakfast Shed repeatedly stated was a last resort.
01:01There was a submission made by Unicot for the matter to be striked out.
01:09However, that application by them was withdrawn,
01:15and therefore we will be dealing with the substantive matter on June the 30th.
01:23Prior to this, the newly installed board of the Breakfast Shed Cooperative wrote to Unicot,
01:29requesting a meeting to discuss new developmental ideas for the space, as well as the rent and electricity issue.
01:36The vendors are said to be owing Unicot about $1.8 million in rent,
01:41and the vendors argue that they have paid over $2 million in additional electricity costs
01:46because Unicot gave the wrong classification to TNTech for the building.
01:51Dialogue now appears to be moving ahead.
01:54Both sides continue to be holding conversations.
01:59So Unicot has eventually come to the table,
02:05and we are holding discussions with them with a view of over the period trying to come to an amicable
02:16solution
02:18that could be a win-win for all parties.
02:22When TV6 News visited the establishment on Tuesday afternoon,
02:26there was an unusual quiet as not a single stall was open.
02:31TV6 News has been told that of the approximately three vendors who have remained here
02:36while this matter continues with Unicot,
02:39only one of them came out today, and that would be the owner of Sylvie's Roti Shop.
02:44Lee Hunt indicates that the Breakfast Shed will not give up
02:48if that win-win situation that is hoped for cannot be reached through dialogue.
02:53We are all ready and prepared to go to court on the 30th of June.
02:59Alicia Boucher, TV6 News.
