00:00:00afternoon good evening or good morning depending on where you are in the world
00:00:03would like to welcome you to part two our middle game series this is the second part of our
00:00:13actually this would be part three actually technically not part two but this would be
00:00:18second the second part to our third lesson for middle game play what I'm going to be doing is
00:00:25I'm going to have a series of three middle game two end game and one open so the order will
00:00:34be
00:00:35end game right middle game so I have two end game three middle game and one opening once I finish
00:00:44the end game what I'm going to do is I'm going to shift it over to critical positions in games
00:00:51that aren't in games are going to be actually from actual games and how to play it but the idea
00:00:56is the order is two sessions of end game three sessions a middle game and one session of openings
00:01:03now with that said what I'm going to do is I'm going to first thank all the people watching this
00:01:08live on Facebook I do appreciate it this will encourage me to actually offer more of the live
00:01:13broadcast on Facebook to offer chess instruction and also to help other players especially the
00:01:21tournament players and more level let's say under 2000 especially under let's say under let's say
00:01:28especially under 17 or 1600 this is especially interesting now keep in mind this game was between
00:01:33Harry Nelson Pillsbury and George Marco from Paris and the 12th round from 1900 now the interesting
00:01:45thing is not who won the game but the quality of the moves and the lessons that can be learned
00:01:51from
00:01:51the game now the idea is whether you're reviewing your own game or another game you want to review it
00:01:57in
00:01:57depth what we want to consider is all aspects of the game for our purpose will begin to be focused
00:02:03mostly on the middle game themes and that will be for analysis positional themes to consider right
00:02:11also tactical opportunities tactical vision and also looking for the looking for opportunities in terms of
00:02:22tactical shots and also looking to see when we do analyze the game when we look at two or more
00:02:32options we want to systematically analyze them in an analysis tree and not just go based upon the
00:02:41feeling there is to actually there's two things that can be done in position one where you can analyze it
00:02:46out concretely the other one is you can't completely analyze it out but you have the feeling that it's a
00:02:52has a certain characteristics of either okay this there's a win here or I need to transition to for example
00:03:00the
00:03:00end game something like that so that is your intuitive sense versus your concrete analytical sense
00:03:08both have their own places just depends on what feeds of the game if you can calculate it out fully
00:03:14or not the idea behind
00:03:15analysis as you want to calculate it out further enough right until we can come to a concrete conclusion to
00:03:23determine what the truthful conclusion of the matter is
00:03:27so let's start the game so starting with d4 black plate d5 we play c4 which is the queen's gambit
00:03:34e6 the decline variation
00:03:36knight c3 knight f6 bishop g5 this is one of the main opening ideas is bishop g5 so in your
00:03:44games you'll probably see something like bishop g5 or knight f3 also e3 but e3 the problem with e3 is
00:03:50it does block the bishop in so we have to consider
00:03:56this so personally i would rather play knight f3 to play more flexibly but bishop g5 is playable such as
00:04:03you can transpose with playing knight f3 then bishop g5 or bishop g5 then e3 knight f3 bring the bishop
00:04:10out so eventually you'll arrive to the same position however move orders do matter especially when you play bishop g5
00:04:18before knight f3 or e3 so he plays bishop g5
00:04:24bishop e3 e3 the idea is we want to get the bishop out so after if he plays dxc4 we
00:04:30take back with the bishop what we want to do is not actually play bishop d3 right away because if
00:04:36you play bishop d3 right away you'll lose the temple after bishop d3 and when he takes it's on the
00:04:41bishop so you'd have to take two temples just to take a pawn
00:04:44at developing an actual capture of the pawn so what they normally do is delay it so castle and knight
00:04:52f3 knight f3 we stopped e5 but also defended the bishop of course on g5 but also bringing out pieces
00:05:00on the queen side excuse me on the king side where we want the castle so after knight f3 we
00:05:07want to double check
00:05:08is there any hanging pieces meaning pieces that are unguarded okay yes we do have the rook on h1 that's
00:05:16unguarded we have the pawn on b2 that's unguarded
00:05:20and so that's what we have those are the things to consider but immediately it's not an issue because we
00:05:26simply have one tempo move of b3 we can move it or we can play queen c2
00:05:32and then of course after bishop d3 and castle we have castle the rook is no longer unguarded but
00:05:40the main thing is can you take advantage of it no now when we see our blacks last move there's
00:05:46lots of moves
00:05:46here you can play c5 you can play knight b7 in this case they played b6 we want to see
00:05:52what was the purpose of
00:05:53our opponent's last move when we analyze we want to say okay well let's look at the purpose of the
00:05:58last move
00:05:59you play b6 well b6 allows him to feed in shadow meaning putting the bishop behind the pawn and also
00:06:05supports a pawn push-ups playing c5 if that's what he chose to do normally with b6 normally you play
00:06:10the
00:06:11bishop to b7 or a6 which b7 is more long term because of diagonal from b7 all the way to
00:06:19f3 this diagonal here so first it supports the pawn on d5 and then we want to control the pawn
00:06:25on e4 if we're
00:06:26black so white just simply plays bishop d3 the idea is we're controlling e4 square we're going to castle
00:06:32next and he follows it up with bishop d7 which is quite logical notice here black would like to play
00:06:3894 but after 94 we have bishop takes bishop queen takes right and then of course there are moves like
00:06:47pawn takes pawn pawn takes pawn castle and then we we have a different kind of game so actually
00:06:55you can see why now he plays c takes d now this is a matter of style how we want
00:07:00to play this out
00:07:02uh i don't want to talk about theory as it relates to this personally i wouldn't take the pawn out
00:07:08with
00:07:08castle but um we'll see how i'll show you how the game uh transpires so after c takes d takes
00:07:17d and 95
00:07:19i would say one of the things you want to do before you start putting a piece on the fifth
00:07:24rank unless
00:07:25it's notice as far as it's fifth rank which is going horizontally you want to make sure you've got
00:07:30your king uh settled either king side or queen side first usually um usually 95 is a middle game type
00:07:39of move so normally it'd be better to play castle black could play 94 at this point with bishop f4
00:07:46might takes b takes c 97 a4 and a5 okay and white i think would be a little bit better
00:07:56what we'd be
00:07:56aiming for is rook b1 queen c2 and c4 or we could um there's also queen b3 here there's rook
00:08:06c1 with id of c4
00:08:08um probably rook b1 first with the idea of c4 takes takes and then we can uh play 95 then
00:08:16queen c2
00:08:17the other one comes over and we'll see where the bishop's already attacking on c7 we see a long-term
00:08:22opportunity in terms of what we should be playing for so 95 in my opinion is a little premature because
00:08:30we have in castle so after knight beast uh knight b to d7 and f4 notice here that the plan
00:08:37is going
00:08:38to be quite clear so when we when we make a play when we make our sort of plans going
00:08:45forward in
00:08:45terms of middle game what we want to do is assess where we would be better and on the board
00:08:50now on
00:08:51the queen side we don't really have more space that is pawns on that side of the board we have
00:08:55the d pawn but where is most of our space on the king side that will be where our pieces
00:09:01should
00:09:01operate also you notice that after f4 we're supporting the knight so if let's say he plays
00:09:08knight takes e5 we play f takes e5 right kicks the knight then we castle and then we will start
00:09:16attacking the knight on e4 okay so that's one possibility and if he takes we actually support
00:09:23the d pawn and then there's options of playing with b1 similar to what i showed you before
00:09:28so c5 now to undermine the pawn chain and then play castle now this is where i believe black made
00:09:36a
00:09:36mistake with c4 is the best thing now because he released the tension in the center the best thing
00:09:41is actually keep the tension well black is also playing on e4 he can also now play um if you
00:09:47have the
00:09:47pawn c5 he can keep building up the pressure on d4 now the disadvantage here it's hard excuse me it's
00:09:59hard to actually increase the pressure on d4 so this is kind of the disadvantage of playing knight d7 but
00:10:10yeah what white black can actually do is actually consolidate the position for example take on d4 and
00:10:16play the work on c8 and so that would be more of the plan but after c4 what's happened is
00:10:23you've
00:10:24actually lost the tension in the center so what happens is white just moves the bishop back and
00:10:28he plays a6 you say well black black is actually gaining some space however you're losing you no
00:10:34longer can play on the dark square so easily so that's one part that's actually no good now when we
00:10:41continue on uh white plays queen f3 well that's very intuitive right we want to control the e4 square
00:10:49so it doesn't play have 94 maybe at some point uh some point to play e4 and f5 notice that
00:10:57the queen
00:10:57and the rook are a battery on the f file so what we like to do is actually open up
00:11:02this f file but for
00:11:04now let's continue on the game b5 queen h3 and g6 we notice with the queen we have a queen
00:11:11lift with f3
00:11:12going to h3 so queen f3 is a good move why because we stopped the next one e4 but also
00:11:18allows us to go
00:11:20to h3 it also went from d1 to f3 to h3 what is the idea of h3 well we'd like
00:11:28to remove the guard on
00:11:29on f6 to mate on h7 now if i play bishop takes i'll play the bishop takes next
00:11:37so what he does is permanently stop the mate by playing g6 however we have to consider that it
00:11:42opened creative holes in the position where uh i can play bishop h6 now and also weakens the protection
00:11:50of the knight on f6 now while the knight on f6 is guarded three times what we don't want to
00:11:56do is
00:11:56create a hole in h6 so this is kind of a problem so after queen f3 b5 queen h3 i'm
00:12:03going to show you
00:12:04that after g6 now white white played the intuitive move we want to hit the punch in with f5 but
00:12:12what
00:12:12i want to show you is after c4 so this is basically his last mistake after c4 we can see
00:12:20that we'd like
00:12:21to keep the diagonal with playing bishop c2 but i'm going to show you that way is quite a bit
00:12:25better after
00:12:26bishop to c2 and actually um for a game that was played over 100 years ago this was um it's
00:12:34not
00:12:34the engine's best move but uh what we can do is we can put the bishop on f5 to get
00:12:45out of this square
00:12:47where such as if you place 94 it blocks out right so bishop f5 is to get outside of this
00:12:53possible
00:12:54knight place e4 idea with bishop f5 um it should be one of course now he plays bishop c2 so
00:13:02hitting the
00:13:03bishop we don't have queen f3 yet but that would be like where we want to go so bishop f5
00:13:08puts us
00:13:09outside of the pawn chain so let's say after bishop so bishop c2 can you play 94 but when we
00:13:16analyze
00:13:16the position we say okay what is the best square for the piece we do a comparison we put it
00:13:21on c2
00:13:22we still keep the diagonal but then we have to think about okay what if he plays knight e4 now
00:13:31okay well we can because this this is going to be permanently blocked up we can take and black will
00:13:39take back notice we have um we don't have any pawn weaknesses but now that e pawn could is now
00:13:47in the
00:13:48way of the bishop doing anything so now of course after that takes we take takes right notice uh knight
00:13:56when
00:13:57i played knight takes sorry when i played bishop a c4 right well i could play bishop takes g5 instead
00:14:05in which case i'm going to play bishop d5 it was at one pawn i'm hitting on f7 and then
00:14:11i'm also
00:14:12threatening to play on g5 so this would be winning so which bishop takes g5 just indicates like okay
00:14:20here we go uh we're losing a pawn
00:14:27so here white just wins a pawn after bishop takes d5 now yes the knight can move and stuff like
00:14:32that
00:14:32you can play knight even knight takes c5 at this point
00:14:38and then we just take around the rook now
00:14:43yes knight d3 there are some things to be said about but what is what is this actual threat
00:14:48we'll take on b2 but then of course i can play pawn takes g5 right f takes g5 right and
00:14:56then queen
00:14:56takes g5 right we're on the pawn we simply just play queen e2 we're defending the e-pawn and the
00:15:04b-pawn now
00:15:05we have to be careful that it's not overloaded now if he plays rook a e8 getting out of the
00:15:10attack because
00:15:10we're attacking the rook with when i played bishop takes b7 we also have rook f3 what we can we're
00:15:19going to do is actually put move our worst place piece which is the rook on a1 which is not
00:15:24doing
00:15:24anything over to the um the f file because we'll have a battering ram on f1 and f3 and possibly
00:15:33later on
00:15:34we could uh well we wouldn't be able to upward it yet but let's say we have a move like
00:15:40b3 right
00:15:41he wouldn't be able to take and then we take and then threaten this the knight on so we get
00:15:46rid of
00:15:47the defender of the knight that's on c4 and then once we take back the knight will have to make
00:15:53a
00:15:53decision how we're going to defend that right and then what we would do after that is we play bishop
00:16:00d5 have a triple attack so our idea is move the rook to f1 play bishop d5 and then depending
00:16:08on what
00:16:08he does you can play b3 first or you can play bishop d5 first depending on what's available bishop d5
00:16:15then work on f1 or the work then bishop d5 depending situation now bishop d5 would hit the pawn on
00:16:20c4
00:16:21which is all right so at this point let's cancel that uh so after queen takes d7 we do simply
00:16:31have
00:16:32uh queen a4 notice we're hitting the pawn twice and hitting the knight twice so let's say we still
00:16:39he still insists on knight takes d5 we're going to simply play rook f takes uh f takes d5 not
00:16:44d takes d5
00:16:45because this will open up the attack against the f pawn and then after queen e6 right we have rook
00:16:53f4
00:16:54is one possibility right we're hitting this pawn twice we also have the idea of playing h3 so we stop
00:17:01this idea of playing him playing g4 also gives us a law for the king uh rook f4 the only
00:17:08thing is you have
00:17:09to calculate okay if he plays g5 okay what do we do then so let's say rook f4 g5 which
00:17:17is not advisable
00:17:19but theoretically what would you do we're simply just going to play rook f6 we'll create a hole
00:17:24he created a hole and a weakness now g5's weakness pawns can't go backwards so we also attack in the
00:17:31queen white would be winning at this point very important not to move pawns in front of the king unless
00:17:37there's a very good reason especially because pawns cannot go backwards okay so now going back to
00:17:43this idea of rook f3 uh rook f3 he would play b5 to defend the pawn remember we played b3
00:17:49we want to
00:17:50undermine this pawn okay so he's not going to take it of course here we want to just play he
00:17:56played knight
00:17:56b4 because at some point i will take uh i will play like a4 or i will take actually
00:18:05let's look at another option rook b8 yeah so bishop e4 yeah so we're on it twice can't defend it
00:18:15twice
00:18:15you're going to have to move the knight back to b4 now is that the rook is misplaced he has
00:18:22to defend
00:18:22b pawn and allows my bishop to go to e4 that's going to be quite good for me especially because
00:18:28now i can
00:18:29actually win the pawn but b takes c right notice he doesn't well you could take back but then after
00:18:35b takes c we do have rook f5 the queen's going to move and then we have rook a to
00:18:43f1 and white should
00:18:44win this and how do we know how we're doing what we want to do is assess the position by
00:18:49looking at the
00:18:50five factors of assessing a position the first factor is material well we have five pawns and black has five
00:18:56ones so that means that the material wise is equal so quantitative we have two categories for analyzing
00:19:05the position we have quantitative and qualitative quantitative is how much of it do you have qualitative
00:19:11is how good are your pieces versus how many pieces do you have so qualitative right now is equal but
00:19:18qualitative is completely different story now when we look at the situation white hat has opportunities
00:19:24and he starts with a combination of rook f5 now so when we look at the position as i said
00:19:31first thing
00:19:32is uh we look at the material what's what's the how much material we have it's the same right five
00:19:39pawns
00:19:39against five pawns oh excuse me i'm mistaken white is actually up a piece so he has an extra bishop
00:19:47a one piece up is with the opposite side in this case black having no compensation for being down a
00:19:54piece
00:19:54you'd be losing the second thing is also we have more space our pieces going forward that's another
00:20:00disadvantage third thing uh so development of course is not so much an issue as in the fact that my
00:20:09pieces
00:20:09are better placed because they're going forward the fourth one of course is a combination with rook f5
00:20:15there is a combination black now has to come back and then black will slap third the queen comes back
00:20:21to
00:20:21e7 we conclude the analysis with playing queen take c4 yes we can look at okay if i play rook
00:20:28c8 but what
00:20:30we do is we understand that we've analyzed it out further enough so that way we know okay what's the
00:20:37conclusion okay for example let's say let's suppose i move the other rook on f to c8 and we just
00:20:44go to
00:20:45rook c5 okay when we trade that or rook b c8 okay then we do the same thing with work
00:20:54to c5 right if he
00:20:57exchanged his rook he's a piece down that's not advisable also another thing is we have a passed pawn that
00:21:02can come down so this this in this case this is going to be winning for white last thing of
00:21:09course is
00:21:10king safety black skin is actually a little bit safer in terms of of it but the thing is actually
00:21:16because uh he we've got the half open file to compensate for having our king not as as safe
00:21:24but because we have an extra piece and we have we can get our piece into position for a combination
00:21:29that
00:21:29makes us winning at this point so turn this off now the idea guys is not it's bad to use
00:21:35the engine
00:21:36it's just you don't want to rely on it for your analysis what you want to do like i did
00:21:41before
00:21:42as i look at the what i do is i look at all the major points in the game and
00:21:48i assess it okay what's
00:21:49going on what are the what are the features of the position right then i say okay uh based upon
00:21:55that
00:21:56who's better so i look at the five factors and then i i look at a couple at least a
00:22:02couple of the
00:22:04moves that are logical right so now sometimes you need to look at more than two maybe three or four
00:22:12so what you want to do is you look at it you will go a couple moves deep and say
00:22:17okay i've come to a
00:22:18conclusion about that one i go to use the next one the next one and the next one and then
00:22:22eventually
00:22:23what i'll do is compare all the options and say which one is best and then i'll know which move
00:22:27to
00:22:27play so in this case we're going back in the game now the engine likes after a sixth for white
00:22:35to
00:22:36actually play bishop to f5 if i'm not mistaken it has its merits because it's going out of the chain
00:22:44but the problem with bishop f5 is that g6 may kick the bishop and we may lose time
00:22:51now the other thing is queen of three so what do we what do we analyze okay the the we
00:22:59looked at
00:22:59three possibilities one is where do i put the bishop okay okay so we put the bishop on c2 or
00:23:07f5 which is
00:23:08better we don't want to put it on e2 because it's going backwards also gets in the way of the
00:23:14queen so
00:23:14really i'm putting the bishop on b1 just blocks the rope that's not great the engine does us look
00:23:21at it and say okay it's this but here's the thing is i can throw my pawns forward and hit
00:23:26his pawns
00:23:27and then move the king on h1 and work to g1 he comes out and work over um this is
00:23:33going to be quite a
00:23:33bit better so between bishop f5 and bishop c2 it likes bishop f5 so um myself i normally play bishop
00:23:42c2
00:23:42because he can play g6 and then i can't play queen g4 because knight takes so at this point after
00:23:51bishop f5
00:23:51if he plays g6 that's when we come back now you say what did white achieve by playing bishop f5
00:23:59he
00:24:00provoked the weakness on the king side is what he actually uh what he accomplished right so black has
00:24:06some options king g7 it's not that black can't defend it it's just that you don't want on to
00:24:12unnecessarily create weaknesses so king g7 is possible knight takes e7 knight takes e5 is possible
00:24:19so the idea is black would want to push these bishops away get the the the rook behind on h8
00:24:26and
00:24:26then defend this way after bishop c2 and so instead of uh bishop c2 we have bishop f5 g6
00:24:35and then bishop c2 this is pretty much why i prefer just to play bishop c2 at the meantime
00:24:41see the idea is when you're playing lower level players what you want them to do is beat force
00:24:46them to beat you strategically because if you've got forced moves where it's just a simple like a
00:24:52calculation okay i go here takes takes takes is this win but what i want to do is actually have
00:24:58more flexibility in the game where i don't have to worry about strict calculation and so what i would
00:25:04do is play it in a strategic way in which that he has to make all the right moves versus
00:25:12i'm not going
00:25:13to go just all in on one move so although technically probably it's better to play bishop f5 bishop c2
00:25:22is a
00:25:22practical choice because it's going to have to come back to c2 anyway yes it provoked a weakness
00:25:27but later on we'll have to do that anyway better is we want to play queen f3 as we're seeing
00:25:33so after
00:25:34a6 which is a blunder right it's not addressing the the fact of what's going on on the king side
00:25:41see
00:25:41the the play is not on the queen side it's on the front side so after h6
00:25:47right we do have bishop h4 now the idea is he doesn't have g5 because i have f takes then
00:25:54we
00:25:54can yeah he says he can play a6 now then bishop f5 but the problem now is after g6 the
00:26:02bishop's going
00:26:03to come back but then we've got loose pawns also what about what's going on with this pawn on h6
00:26:10so let's say he plays g6 at this point bishop c2 what you do is you compare it to the
00:26:16previous
00:26:17position what's the difference between the previous position and this position difference is that we
00:26:22black as a pawn on h6 and the position can be a little bit loose what we don't want to
00:26:29do in
00:26:29as a defender is move pawns in front of our king unless we absolutely have to so that weakens our
00:26:36position
00:26:36a little bit and yes it does say white is something better positionally why what i'd like to do is
00:26:41play rook f3 as a plan followed by h3 because i know that's where my pieces should be headed but
00:26:48probably first i'd like to play like queen f3 first followed by queen h3 or g3 but we'll see what
00:26:54happens
00:26:55so let's say um so we have something similar in the game with b5 we can play queen f3 or
00:27:03a3
00:27:04queen f3 stops knight e4 gets the queen into position we play d4 now we can take this knight
00:27:13similar to the game let's say he plays bishop takes the problem with knight takes is now you can't
00:27:20contest the can't contest the knight on e5 so you'll play uh well let's play bishop takes f6 the idea
00:27:28is
00:27:28you can come back to g7 also we can have the option to play knight takes f6 so then but
00:27:33the problem is
00:27:34now we have knight takes d5 we've got the third knight takes f6 check and then win the visual so
00:27:40now what
00:27:41he does at this point he's exchanges it off exchange you take and then we're threatening to win the piece
00:27:48so after knight takes e5 now we take rooks he takes with a rook going to d8 because both the
00:27:57f and the
00:27:57a can go to the same one and we take with the f pawn not the d pawn because the
00:28:03f pawn will open up
00:28:04the file so we can play on the side of the board we want to go in the first place
00:28:09so after f takes e5
00:28:11um there is this idea of bishop g7 there's bishop g5 now we're just hitting the pawn so rook f3
00:28:19anyway
00:28:20we're going to play the other rook we can play the rook on e1 or f1 and then f6 now
00:28:26e takes f6
00:28:29right and then what we wanted he wants to do is double up on the f file and so we
00:28:34then we can say
00:28:35okay fine king f2 king e2 rook over and we've defended this twice we're perfectly fine notice
00:28:42also the pawn on g6 is on free because we don't we haven't um we have nothing defending it of
00:28:49course
00:28:49so we haven't brought peas in to keep it defended that's why h6 is losing of the position so even
00:28:56after it plays rook d d6 we can play king e2 like i was saying king g7 now defends the
00:29:04oh okay after
00:29:05taking the pawn now it's defended twice and then after rook takes f6 bishop takes f6 notice the
00:29:12pawn e3 is defending it so what we can he can do is play rook e8 now to threaten bishop
00:29:19e4
00:29:21oh wait excuse me it's white to play so let's look at this um also we want to get out
00:29:27of that
00:29:28out of here we want to relocate the piece and so after bishop a4 now we've stopped rook e8
00:29:37but we can play rook f7 without idea rook c7 and then also rook c1 is possible and we also
00:29:45have king d2
00:29:46white's going to be winning in this position so this is where i recommend at the lower levels
00:29:54just to play steady chess don't try to blow them off the board with some tactical combination
00:29:59but just play steady chess where we have an advantage and we just keep increasing it
00:30:04okay so after a6 we have an address the thing is it's maybe you say well what's the big deal
00:30:14i can
00:30:14play a6 then h6 but the problem is you're giving white an extra move to play such as queen f3
00:30:21okay
00:30:24now what's happened is you can't play 94 because i have it defended three times uh defended three times
00:30:31and you you're only i have it excuse me i have that square cover three times so to see but
00:30:36if you sink a knight on e4 i'll just take it and so then after for example for example now
00:30:43you forward
00:30:44like the engine say i'm not even looking at the engine um also we have to consider that the knight
00:30:49on
00:30:49d5 is undefended so let's say again bishop g5 same type of thing you look at bishop takes e4 notice
00:30:58we
00:30:58have the knight on d5 defended so you could play knight takes e5 hitting this you know taking and
00:31:05hitting this twice d takes e5 now why because we want to do this is defended twice we want to
00:31:14now move our
00:31:14rook on a to d1 now because now we're not attacking over on f7 yet and also at the same
00:31:20time we're
00:31:22hitting the bishop on g5 that's why we didn't take over the f pawn normally we pick with the f
00:31:27pawn so
00:31:27we can have the half open file but in this case we can actually swing the work over so we
00:31:33have that
00:31:33flexibility uh this should be winning also for white i don't see what more you have um bishop h6 here
00:31:42doesn't do a whole lot you can take the bishop but then i've got the bishop hitting the rook and
00:31:47hitting on on on f7 he has to move the bishop and then we can like even double up on
00:31:53b6 so we're
00:31:55gaining time this is winning for white even now looking at but i'm essentially doing this i'm just
00:32:01looking at the white blacks possibilities okay b5 just doesn't go with the position why because the
00:32:09action is not on that side of the board now he wants to create action on the queen side however
00:32:14it doesn't stop white from playing what he wants to do because even after b4 now uh the knight can
00:32:20actually maneuver over to the to the king side such as going e2 to g3 to f5 or even h5
00:32:27so
00:32:31after queen h3 we give the other reason is because we give him white the time to play queen f3
00:32:36and queen h3
00:32:38so a6 b5 just is ignoring white's plan here and so after b5 queen h3 now what we're looking for
00:32:46is
00:32:47we'd like to play knight takes d7 right with the idea of playing knight takes f6 check and then mate
00:32:54because if we play bishop takes f6 right knight takes so first we want to get rid of the the
00:33:00knight
00:33:00that's guarding the knight on removing the guard for the knight on f6 then we play bishop takes f6 and
00:33:06win on the next move so we play g6 now to block this because the threat of course was playing
00:33:12knight
00:33:12takes d7 and bishop takes f6 note note that after knight takes d7 and he takes back with a knight
00:33:19we simply have mate right such as i play knight takes d7
00:33:25so queen is uh sorry let's say he plays
00:33:30actually i think i think actually after b4 now this this is doesn't stop the threat i think i can
00:33:38play knight takes d7 and we have this knight takes f6 stuff so after h6 i think we simply now
00:33:48he stops
00:33:48the main but we're gonna be up a piece if i'm not mistaken um jakes takes we're up a piece
00:33:58we can actually
00:33:58sack on h6 and so this is going to be quite bad even i can just let him have the
00:34:06piece back and then
00:34:06sack on h6 right it takes i take back and then right i think h6 now i think that's losing
00:34:15also losing
00:34:16could be played we play bishop takes h oh no this is bishop takes f6 knight takes bishop takes yeah
00:34:25bishop
00:34:26takes h6 h6 bishop takes f6 bishop takes f6 bishop takes f6 queen f5 okay queen of five also wins
00:34:37so
00:34:39regarding the knight we've also threatened to play knight takes f6 also and queen f5 is also winning
00:34:45as well so i believe also knight takes d7 is quite good yeah knight takes d7 is quite the good
00:34:53move because
00:34:54we have the mate threat and also queen of five so b4 just misses the point so he eventually says
00:35:01okay
00:35:01we have to block the mate because we have the bishop and queen coordinating against h7 squares so we play
00:35:07g6 to block it and what we do is f5 by f5 we need to bring another attacker into play
00:35:13so even if he trades on
00:35:16e5 which would be best play he plays b4 is kind of missing the point so let's say knight takes
00:35:24e5 would be more
00:35:25of a point because it's addressing where i have pieces attacking so knight takes e5 d takes e5 problem
00:35:32is now actually knight knight to g4 also we actually have f6 at this point and the idea is we
00:35:41can we like to
00:35:43play like queen takes g4 queen h4 queen h6 i know that's giving us one two three four moves but
00:35:49yeah
00:35:51f6 so if we don't immediately have we can just keep improving our position yes we're hitting the
00:35:57e pawn twice but now of course we just have queen takes g4 we don't care give them the give
00:36:02them the
00:36:02pawn if you actually we can't take the pawn excuse me let's we do that you can't take the pawn
00:36:09actually we
00:36:09play rookie eight instead hit the pawn e pawn because it's no longer guarded on e5 and simply
00:36:18bishop f4 our position stable we're winning so white doesn't and black can't really stop because here
00:36:26with the also bishop f4 the reason why it's good is because we have queen g5 queen h6 and queen
00:36:31g7 and
00:36:32the only move that's going to make any sense is to play bishop f8 at the right time
00:36:37but then where's the counterpart so we can play d4
00:36:4594 now now we bring another piece so we have knight g5 queen h4 right here or threat to go
00:36:51to g5
00:36:52there's too many threats here it's just not going to work black's going to win a pawn
00:36:58especially me first he could get rid of the knight yes that's true exchange it off he can take the
00:37:04pawn
00:37:04that's true then we what we're going to do is just move the king out of the way because otherwise
00:37:10he has this discovered shepherding the rook so rook e7 now
00:37:16oh not rook e7 it's just going to make it
00:37:18it's rook a7 as possible
00:37:22also there's this knight we have played e2 but e2
00:37:26we'll just lose the pawn all right and we'll just come back and take a look at c5
00:37:33so that's what we do we just look at a couple possibilities what we want to do is you see
00:37:37that the bishop's on this diagonal the c5 to h to g1 diagonal we want to get the king off
00:37:43the diagonal
00:37:44and say even if he takes the pawn you don't care because what are we doing
00:37:48you can't really stop what we're doing okay seven okay do you want then what we're getting our worst
00:37:54piece back into play right and getting it to play hitting the queen and then where's the queen girl
00:38:02queen c8 still i mean we want to trade pieces but then well we have queen even queen h4 is
00:38:09probably
00:38:11queen h4 h5 queen g5 uh actually has bishop f8 right yeah i mean when we assess the position mark
00:38:20a piece
00:38:21and then we could actually double up on this e pawn that's gonna fall some proposal yeah this is gonna
00:38:31be bad um and then also when we when we we could trade and be up a piece we could
00:38:39also play queen
00:38:39a three and white's actually winning at this point um yeah we could trade queens that's the simplest thing
00:38:49normally when you're attacking you don't want to do that but as i said i already said without even
00:38:53looking at i know this is a loose pawn so we're gonna attack it twice notice that we can't contest
00:38:58i mean you can't play rook d7 can't play rook d8 uh rook a c7 i mean it's on a
00:39:06bad square
00:39:08and then bishop takes e3 we're simply up a pawn and a piece what do we have four no no
00:39:15sorry it's uh
00:39:16six against six for pawns but we're up a piece so that's simply going to win there's no count there
00:39:22is no compensation for being a down a piece so f5 d4 it's kind of like black saying prove it
00:39:31but here's
00:39:32the problem is that we he can already start the combination with taking the pawn now when he takes
00:39:36the pawn the idea now is we have the same sort of combination when we play knight takes d7
00:39:41knight takes f6 check then queen takes so let's say he plays b takes c
00:39:52before you play that it you need to calculate before i play f takes g6 i know i don't have
00:39:58mate because
00:39:59knight is guarding we have to calculate that this is going to work first before you decide to
00:40:04play if f takes g6 first okay so so what what do we do we say okay after pawn takes
00:40:11knight we play rook
00:40:13takes f6
00:40:18so you see that rook takes f6 beautiful move why so we're taking the piece right so let's say he
00:40:27plays let's say what do i care it can just play c takes b right then we have the mate
00:40:33right so we
00:40:35can't just he can't just go pawn hunting we have to look at the threat so c takes b to
00:40:42just ignores the
00:40:43main point so he can't play c takes b2 he has to address so he can play for example h
00:40:49takes g or f
00:40:50takes g but f takes g is better because the rook now comes into play and is attacking my rook
00:40:56now but
00:40:57after f takes g i have this nice move here what do you think is the move what's the move
00:41:03here guys
00:41:09the move needs to be forcing in combinations it can't just be a regular move it has to be forcing
00:41:17so for example knight takes d7 it would work if it can follow up with knight takes f6 check but
00:41:23we can't have to replace f takes g6 so we know that this has to be a forcing move
00:41:37all right rook takes g6 check
00:41:44so what's the big deal i can just take it with my pawn right
00:41:50then what happens
00:41:53here's what so we have this idea now is we can play bishop takes g6
00:42:02with a threat of queen on h7 notice after rook f7 i believe i can
00:42:12do i have uh yeah i can actually just take first i was thinking knight takes i can take first
00:42:18so you
00:42:19can't play king f8 because we have the queen mate so that's the first thing second thing is after king
00:42:25g7 what do we have well we have queen h6 we have bishop h6 but then he has the king
00:42:32going to skip
00:42:32f6 so we play queen takes h6 check and that's also knight so we don't want to underestimate this rook
00:42:41takes g6 stuff and say well what does it matter i can just take back we have to before we
00:42:46before he
00:42:47decides if he's going to take or not first we have to assess first of all that this is check
00:42:52okay so let's say he plays king h8 here then what we then what what do we have next what's
00:43:00your next move
00:43:04yeah we have a a meeting combination rook g8 check
00:43:11right this is a winning move why we're removing the removing uh it's a clearance sacrifice right so we get
00:43:20the bishop with the scope so after rook takes g8 what happens queen mate so king h we know king
00:43:29h8 doesn't
00:43:30work and so what's left over well h takes g6 as we said h takes g6 bishop takes rook f7
00:43:41doesn't work the
00:43:42question is how do we stop uh queen h7 so we can play knight f6 possibly well knight f6 i
00:43:52believe we can
00:43:53play bishop takes f6 now we're moving the garden and we still have the main threat so rook takes
00:43:59f6 we need to continue on right we need seven check king f8 and then what's the move queen h8
00:44:08means
00:44:10so the point is see uh you can't he cannot take this pawn so instead he plays f takes g
00:44:19rook takes uh f6 right the other option here is what if he takes back with a knight
00:44:28okay okay now we we all it's very simple we're just gonna play bishop takes notice with this pawn
00:44:35takes we have mate on h8 but also 13 so later on the mate on h8 or mate on h7
00:44:43remove the guard
00:44:44and what does he have i don't think he has any there's no there's no real good moves here rook
00:44:49e8
00:44:51check right check right and then mate
00:44:54i don't really see anything here we can double check i don't see any defense here so
00:45:01c takes not c takes me sorry f takes so instead of f takes if he plays knight takes now
00:45:07bishop takes
00:45:09i was current that's what i have okay eight okay we have f takes g6 though
00:45:15oh excuse me f takes g6 is the better movie i'm sorry similar to what we had earlier
00:45:22queen e6 check
00:45:27then that opens up for the check so that loses too and obviously you block it's me
00:45:40so f takes g bishop takes let's say he plays h takes g instead right we there's another thing we
00:45:46analyze okay we have a bishop on f6 we have to see that we have a mate the bishop defends
00:45:53the queen
00:45:54and that's a mate on the chain so the idea is when we put a queen on h we have
00:45:58a bishop on f6 and
00:45:59queen on the h file we want to look at mate it on h8 okay so we see that so
00:46:05instead of that i know
00:46:06it's played a bit to look at but that's what it is let me turn that off f takes g
00:46:12h takes g
00:46:16notice he didn't play f takes g place h takes g queen h4 we want to get our queen into
00:46:24position
00:46:26right we're going to be playing on the h file now he takes the knight we take what is the
00:46:32threat
00:46:33well we want to play we want to play uh believe knight takes knight check this forcing
00:46:43but again queen takes d7 and then rook f6 remember that's what we played yes
00:46:50no so we're going back excuse me we're going back to the original position knight takes f6
00:46:54rook takes f6 now so this is very difficult because the problem with this position is that
00:47:01it's hard to accept that because after let's say as i should did i show you a let's say bishop
00:47:08takes f6 we have bishop takes f6 in our threat you made on g on h8 which is hard to
00:47:13stop almost
00:47:14impossible so yeah that's that's going to be winning bishop takes f6 i can double check that
00:47:25question is there any way to stop that so g5 does it work you have made on h7 or made
00:47:33on h8 even worse
00:47:36so yeah that's a mate coming after a5 work af1 mostly i talked about doubling up
00:47:43so first of all we're up a piece uh sorry oh no sorry we get the piece back because it
00:47:50took the knight
00:47:50on here but now we got rooks doubled up now rook a6 now thinking he's going to hit this rook
00:47:57a second
00:47:57time then we want to bring another a defender excuse me we want to put another attacker into play
00:48:08now remember if we have this file open he's not going to be able right let's say the file open
00:48:17we're
00:48:17going to play rook takes rook check the only move is going to be of course bishop takes and then
00:48:23we
00:48:23have this idea of playing bishop f6 right notice that the bishop's going to be in the way and then
00:48:30so for example let's say he plays at this point um no sorry rook a6 uh okay excuse me
00:48:41instead of rook a6
00:48:44oh excuse me rook a6 bishop takes two six
00:48:50okay look at af1 right let's look at that first if he takes on the bishop we have a similar
00:48:57idea with
00:48:57bishop takes f6 put the third on h8 just you can't stop that so it's the same thing but let's
00:49:05say rook a6 to hit the rook again and i say okay fine bishop takes g6 beautiful move right now
00:49:12you say
00:49:12okay what is the great what is the big deal he can play rook takes right if he plays rook
00:49:19takes now
00:49:19this one possibility right then i simply just have the point the point is i'm removing the defender so
00:49:29i have the mate on h7 bishop that's what bishop takes g6 does it threatens mate on h7 so now
00:49:37you
00:49:37have to take because if you get rid of the rook right well if you get rid of the rook
00:49:42we're missing
00:49:43the point on h7 okay we're not getting rid of the threat that's on h7 by taking the rook notice
00:49:50that
00:49:50the rook on f6 is blocking the rook from taking on g6 it's our only move for black really because
00:49:57we
00:49:58have the threat on h7 is yeah we can play rook e8 and all that stuff but the problem is
00:50:04or even rook
00:50:06c8 or let's say rook c8 right is we have queen h uh queen h7 and king h8 i believe
00:50:14we should win
00:50:16i can double check that i can just kind of see because yeah so let's say he plays
00:50:26what is it
00:50:31oh yeah let's say he moves the rook over we have the check for one oh excuse me you just
00:50:39simply take
00:50:40one f7 yeah and then king goes to f8 and you can simply just come down to h8 uh yeah
00:50:47h8 for me or we
00:50:50can play on g7 notice you can't take g7 is the other option and then what do we put okay
00:50:58well i have
00:50:59queen h6 mate right notice you can go to f8 you can't go to g8 so that's me so very
00:51:07difficult position
00:51:08so bishop takes g6 f takes g6 now idea what bishop takes g6 is we're threatening bait we're also opening
00:51:15this up for this idea of rook takes f8 bishop takes g6 rook takes f8 okay now this is check
00:51:25so you can't
00:51:25play bishop takes g5 hitting the queen bishop takes f8 rook takes f8 another nice move and the idea is
00:51:35after king takes we have queen check okay he doesn't he can't he's only move is on f7 and we
00:51:45give
00:51:45a check again and then what happens well he has e6 right but after king e6 what do i have
00:51:55i didn't
00:51:56take pawn on g6 it doesn't have any squares to go to that's going to be me so
00:52:03um yeah so king f8 is the only option at this point and then of course it just loses
00:52:10the queen of course we're starting queen takes b7 queen takes d5 and then there's a whole bunch
00:52:17of things plus we have the coordination between the bishop and then after all this stuff we also
00:52:23have pawns that come down the board with h4 g4 trade this off i mean it's like in which way
00:52:29do you want
00:52:30to win so like bishop e7 is possible and also what are we doing so you know
00:52:38uh there's not any good like bishop c6 is not really any good moves we also have
00:52:45we might have bishop a6 check
00:52:50that's not moving
00:52:54then where where do we go only one move i may have made on g7 so you see the point
00:53:02i'm just going to put play could resume play could resume as
00:53:18yeah so if you try to attack the queen because the bishop's being attacked you have check king over
00:53:24and knight um we could play with a7 that's another option it still still doesn't stop the threat of
00:53:34bishop h6 and then queen king g8 with the idea of queen g7 so we don't we can't stop the
00:53:41threat so
00:53:43black resigned after queen 67 obviously because he's down quite a bit of materials so he's down the
00:53:49exchange well working bishop versus queen which is yes only one pawn but we also have the bishop so
00:53:59let's say after this we could play like c takes b but still the same threat again bishop h6 check
00:54:05king g8 and queen g7 that that's the recurring theme we have to address so
00:54:12let's talk about let's talk about what we learned from the game okay i'm gonna turn this off first of
00:54:19all besides just understanding that this opening um has some transpositions with can play bishop g5
00:54:28followed by knight f3 or knight f3 and bishop g7 understand also that e3 would stop this idea of bishop
00:54:34g7
00:54:35but there's other ways of playing it with knight f3 right e3 and whatever or any kind of transposition so
00:54:42that's theoretical so i have to uh understand that we have this set up right and that is one way
00:54:51of
00:54:51playing the position okay and then after he has this fiend channel set remember what we did was
00:54:58in the game we trade the pawns okay why did we trade the pawn because we want to keep the
00:55:04bishop on d3
00:55:07that's one of the main ones we don't have to waste the temple to come back to d3
00:55:11um that has a plus and a minus to it the other thing is remember that also we should castle
00:55:17before
00:55:17play 95 because we haven't gotten our king secure and also um
00:55:22um 95 as i said is more of a middle game move also we we learned that we want to
00:55:30attack and defend
00:55:32the knight with f4 so we can have the open file so castle and then we noticed that this was
00:55:38a big
00:55:38big mistake to play c4 because relieve the tension the idea for black is to keep hitting into the center
00:55:44once you play c4 we just play back to c2 or f5 i mentioned c2 is better right
00:55:51so c4 i think is probably quite the mistake we'll do one more check on that i think that should
00:55:59be
00:55:59quite the mistake yeah this here is white uh somewhere between equal to slightly better
00:56:07and this is yeah the c4 just is anti-positional the idea is as black you want to keep the
00:56:14tension
00:56:15in the center and also at the same time have play into the center when you play c4 now you
00:56:20give up
00:56:21all the play onto the dark squares that's quite bad so we just move our bishop back notice there
00:56:28was a lot to look here we know bishop c2 is is a decent idea remember keep our bishop on
00:56:33this c2 to
00:56:35h7 diagonal that's the important thing okay there was a lot to look at for black we understand that
00:56:41what we need to do is bring our queen into play we want to control e4 square so they play
00:56:45queen of
00:56:46three he plays a6 which was erroneous uh i'm sorry a6 queen of three b5 right playing on the wrong
00:56:55side of
00:56:55the board queen h3 g6 and then the important thing is we need to bring our other defender in play
00:57:02remember
00:57:02i showed you f5 why we want to attack the this pawn chain here or the pawn show and then
00:57:10after he
00:57:12plays b4 remember we don't want to move our knight but we want to take now when we take our
00:57:17idea here
00:57:18is to play knight takes d7 right so let's say remember i showed you b takes c3 we have this
00:57:26beautiful sack now when we look at the position normally i would say knight takes d7 would be the
00:57:31idea with the idea of knight to f6 however it's going to take an extra move versus rook to f6
00:57:40this is where you would want to slow down and say okay what is the actual what's the best move
00:57:44here
00:57:45is there a tactical shot we need to look at this the possibilities okay we can play knight uh pawn
00:57:53takes h7 that's true but then you can play like for example king h8 and then he'll eventually
00:57:59consolidate that pawn we don't want to do that we want to look at our best ideas well we can't
00:58:07win the
00:58:07knight on d7 so we're not going to play knight takes d7 yet and certainly not queen d7 so our
00:58:14options
00:58:14are we can play knight takes d7 okay uh so after knight takes d7 let me show you what happens
00:58:23so
00:58:23knight takes d7 it takes with the f pawn notice with the f pawn now this sacrifice is no longer
00:58:29going
00:58:30to work so yes we can play queen e6 and stuff but there's no follower that's the important thing
00:58:36king g7 now we can start he can start defending yes he'll lose the exchange but the idea is we
00:58:44want
00:58:44to checkmate the king right so we'll win this pawn back but this is not as good for white even
00:58:50though
00:58:50we're up the exchange is still remember this is quantitative versus qualitative we're looking for the
00:58:56qualitative advantage not just the quantitative so knight d7 isn't the correct move it's not terrible
00:59:03especially because we wouldn't the exchange is just not the best thing well we're after in a
00:59:08position like this when he takes the knight so in other words instead of playing f5 now oops f5 and
00:59:16he plays b4 what we need to make sure before plays before we take the pawn on g6 we need
00:59:22to make sure
00:59:23that this him taking the knight well is okay for us now normally would be okay because we're giving up
00:59:30the knight for the pawn but what we're doing is just saying okay f takes g h takes g okay
00:59:39so let's say
00:59:41he takes the knight this is where we analyze let's say okay he can take back with the h pawn
00:59:46that's true
00:59:48or even the f pawn right he takes he can take if he takes back with the f pawn what
00:59:54queen e so we still
00:59:56have this idea queen queen queen uh e6 chain king g6 and takes d7 right now guess what happens
01:00:07if he plays knight takes d7 then i have a fork on on e7 so it is possible at this
01:00:14point for him to take
01:00:15back and we play knight takes d7 that's winning okay because we have this combination knight takes d7 knight
01:00:23bishop takes d7 bishop takes d7 and then white remember white is a piece up so we have to make
01:00:30sure before we take the pawn if it's okay does it work because now he's going to take the knight
01:00:36first
01:00:38so we got to make sure of that so how do we do it we look at we go look
01:00:42through the whole analysis
01:00:44so what is it so we look at it right remember we have to look at that
01:00:48we because he hasn't played f takes g yet we have this idea of sapping now the idea that what's
01:00:55behind it is that we're removing the guard because we want to threaten mate on on h7 remember i said
01:01:03okay
01:01:04we have f takes g we have knight takes f6 remember i said you take back f takes g queen
01:01:13e6 work over
01:01:14oh yeah and then we can just take right or yeah actually that's the only move because so simply queen
01:01:23take and then queen takes me right the position a little complex this is where you spend more time to
01:01:31look at the possibilities can i play f takes g6 or not this will require to looking at the most
01:01:39critical
01:01:40response b takes c first and if that doesn't work we look at hhg and then finally instead of hhg
01:01:49we look at f takes g now we saw f takes g loses the queen pe6 check so we saw
01:01:58that so remember we have
01:02:01to get our queen into position so after uh excuse me f takes g queen takes g we get the
01:02:09queen into
01:02:09position now because now we're attacking uh that knight three times so we what we're going to do is
01:02:16sack on f6 which you know we took knight d7 first to remove the guard right queen takes d7 then
01:02:25once we
01:02:26move the guard it's only twice now we have it three times so we looked at this idea now before
01:02:34we do that
01:02:34again important thing to do is understand can i take on f6 well what happens if you play c takes
01:02:44p okay
01:02:45then we just move rather rook over and triple up it's even worse now right notice our bishop on c2
01:02:50is
01:02:51covering the pawn on b1 in worst case scenario we just bring the bishop back to b1 and that settles
01:02:56that so now context pawn we double move the rook over queen c6 member with the pawn on d5 there's
01:03:06no
01:03:06threat on g2 okay so we we looked at that we looked at playing him look at c3 we noticed
01:03:13that there's a
01:03:14main threat he has to he has to address so c takes b2 it made it worse because now we
01:03:18have double brooks
01:03:19and their bishop of course can stop the pawn on b1 with their bishop so what do you remember what
01:03:25he did was you you found out you could take we just need to see the follow through rook takes
01:03:30a5
01:03:31and we double up then we take on g6 notice that before he couldn't take the rook because why
01:03:42before we play rook af1c if he takes the rook what happens oh we take this bishop and now we
01:03:48have
01:03:48threatening him right so because that's because he can't take the rook we can double up and then
01:03:55what we do is okay he's attacking the rook we have to bring another attacker so we have the queen
01:04:03on h4
01:04:04what would attack on the on on h7 the bishop being on g6 now before you do it we have
01:04:11to look at
01:04:11possibilities if he takes it if he takes your rook well if he takes the rook we just simply he's
01:04:18missing
01:04:18the point on h7 if he goes let's say he tries to give the king some space with like rook
01:04:23c8 or
01:04:24something like that then we'd simply just have bishop f7 and that's going to win right for example
01:04:30king f8 right remember i showed you and queen h8 or let's say king g7 right we simply just have
01:04:39queen h6 mate so we just have to make sure that this is going to work so we have rook
01:04:44takes f6 to look
01:04:45at or ca to look at also f takes g if all of them work if if uh it works
01:04:52in all cases then
01:04:54we can play that now after fhg that's the critical move right because we no longer has to throw on
01:05:00h7
01:05:01right then we play rook takes and remember something after the rook takes we have this idea of playing
01:05:09uh so we have this idea of playing bishop f6 if he takes with a bishop now this check so
01:05:16his only move
01:05:17is to take with the bishop because you can't take with the king because the rook is going bishop takes
01:05:22rook takes check before we take the bishop we have to calculate right remember we had to calculate does it
01:05:29work if it work if i take the bishop well what's the best move here well if the problem is
01:05:35here is
01:05:36if i play bishop f6 i believe he has queen h7 uh yeah queen h7 now we've got to consider
01:05:44that
01:05:44the thing is he's up a piece at this point and he's starting to take another pawn so we have
01:05:49to
01:05:50make sure everything's going to work so we calculate okay if rook takes right his only move
01:05:56is a take with the king what happens after that okay then we can give check can we give another
01:06:01check yes you know sevens is only move of course he can't go to e7 because of the bishop okay
01:06:08let's
01:06:09follow it up with another move okay the queen goes the king if you know that if the king goes
01:06:15to f8 of
01:06:16course he lose the queens like in the game what if he goes to e8 we have to look at
01:06:21him going to e8
01:06:23him going to e6 right or f8 so f8 we already see that we just play queen takes and that
01:06:31wins if
01:06:32he goes to e8 we have to see that we have mate on g8 if he goes to e6 we
01:06:37have to see he plays queen
01:06:39takes g6 and mate notice that we have both the bishops the queen and bishop are covering both the
01:06:45diagonals and the queen is covering horizontally and of course on f5 so that wins so before we do this
01:06:53before we do the rook sacrifice we need to make sure that it works so we would say okay i
01:07:05i take he
01:07:06takes and what's the follow-up do we have a follow-up yes okay check what happens after that can
01:07:14he escape
01:07:14over to d7 and d6 well we can't go to f6 you can't go to e7 so f7 would be
01:07:20his only move so you say okay
01:07:22that would be next then we have to check him again h7 this is where we get to the position
01:07:29where we say
01:07:29okay do we go does he go to e6 right that means he gives me it on g6 because the
01:07:36queen and the
01:07:37possible on the guard when he goes back to e8 we have to see that we give check on the
01:07:42eighth rank on
01:07:43e8 but also we cut off the squares notice that with the bishop we've cut off that the squares e7
01:07:49and
01:07:50d8 and also on g8 we cover the squares on cut off the squares on f7 so we see that
01:07:56and then finally
01:07:57we have to remember during the last but of course king f8 just you lose it you know queen it's
01:08:04not as
01:08:04bad as getting mated but it might as well be because after let's say bishop there isn't really any good
01:08:11moves here uh c2 a4 it's it's all the same idea so it doesn't matter what what you're going to
01:08:19play
01:08:19next i'm going to give check because there's no checks to me so i'm just going to give we're just
01:08:26going to give the simple check right notice the queen can go to f7 or e8 this is only option
01:08:32is g8
01:08:33in which case we give me okay so we have before the sacrifice we need to calculate it out look
01:08:40at
01:08:40lacks possible replies and say okay is there anything that refutes it can i continue to attack going
01:08:46forward okay this was a this was a complex one to analyze but the idea is not could we see
01:08:55all the
01:08:56moves from the game but the idea was can we understand that when we sack this right why are we
01:09:02sacking it
01:09:04okay because we want to get the king over to sorry the queen over to aj then when he moves
01:09:10we have to continue the attack okay so also we have to understand
01:09:16we have to understand how to get the the attack to continue with bishop takes g6
01:09:25because of course we have a threat on h7 so the threat has to be addressed so
01:09:33keep in mind when we play we have to look we have to play thematic moves on the side of
01:09:38the
01:09:38board where we have more space where pieces are pointing towards unless our bishop is pointing
01:09:44towards the king side and then we also have to uh right let's such as it kicks the bishop where
01:09:51is
01:09:51the best place on c2 not b1 right then what we want to do after that we need to bring
01:09:57because we're
01:09:58going to be attacking on that side of the board we need to bring in pieces like the queen right
01:10:02we
01:10:02play f3 and h3 and then we want then after that later on we want to uh double up on
01:10:10the f file and
01:10:11continue the attack there all right so that'll belt do it for our next session uh which will be i
01:10:21should
01:10:23have something for tomorrow for you guys so i'm going to talk about some basic openings that beginners
01:10:28can play a basic opening what i'm going to do is just uh show an opening where you can get
01:10:34a good
01:10:34position out of the opening your idea of course i'm just giving you a sneak peek of what we're going
01:10:38to be
01:10:39next your idea is not to try to beat the opponent out of the opening but just to get a
01:10:44position that
01:10:45is favorable for you or a good position even if it's theoretically slightly worse is it a position
01:10:51that you can find good moves and then you can continue with your plan and work towards either
01:10:57an even game or play for an advantage that's what you're looking for all right so with that said
01:11:04i would like to thank all the people watching this live on facebook i do appreciate that
01:11:09and uh also for the people who later watch this on not only watch this the live people watching this
01:11:16live and also people that will later watch a recorded version here on facebook what i'd like to
01:11:21do is please click the thumbs up on the video that way i'll be pushed with the facebook algorithm and
01:11:26more people would be able to view it and enjoy it for all the people most watching the recorded version
01:11:32on youtube rumble or daily motion what i'd like you to do is please click like on the video that
01:11:37way it'll be pushed the algorithm and more people would be able to view it and enjoy it
01:11:42if you haven't already please click the subscribe button that will access to all the content on my
01:11:48channel as i certainly have a variety of content on this channel for free to view and enjoy remember
01:11:53we're doing things about middle game end game middle game and also openings and also we want to
01:12:01work on learning from our games as well so remember i'm focusing more this for tournament players
01:12:09mostly well especially under 2000 but more i would say probably under you know 18 or 1700
01:12:18i think when you get to 2000 sort of like another tier you get to 19 to 2000 you're sort
01:12:24of going up
01:12:25another tier so the idea is you want to get the necessary skills and once you can get this down
01:12:32your rating will go up and also your understanding will go up and of course it's always fun to win
01:12:37right so anyway also if you haven't already please click the bell button that way you'll be notified of all
01:12:46my future videos
01:12:49that way when a new video of mine comes out you won't miss it because you'll be notified accordingly
01:12:54so what i would suggest you do is when you click the bell button actually my recommendation is to click
01:13:00where
01:13:00it says instant that way you'll be immediately notified as it gives you the up all the notifications
01:13:09of all the new videos that come out so i recommend doing that otherwise you'll have to wait longer to
01:13:14actually see that there's a new video which may not be ideal so i would recommend you click on the
01:13:20instant when you click on the bell button so i'd like to thank all the people watching this here
01:13:26hopefully you enjoyed and got some extra value for it um what i'm going to be doing is as i
01:13:32said i'm
01:13:32going to continue the series the next one will be on the the openings i'm going to just show you
01:13:37as i said
01:13:38before how i'm going to get a good position out of the opening i'm going to suggest some basic openings
01:13:46nothing that's theory laden or nothing that's too complicated the idea is you want to be you don't
01:13:52want to have to deal with theory you just want to play regular regular checks okay so there is theory
01:13:58every opening technically has some theory but some has more than others the idea is you want to get in
01:14:04the out of the opening a playable position where you can play either for equality or even more
01:14:12preferably uh an advantage so that's what i'm referring to all right so i'd like to wish you a
01:14:19great day wherever you are in the world take care and i'll certainly talk to you next time guys
01:14:25have a good one and have a good evening bye for now
