00:00See all those great 80s movies, Craig Mish, where the coach doesn't do so well,
00:03the kids come over at night and put all those for sale signs on the lawn,
00:07get the hit, get out of here, coach.
00:09Well, maybe that was the Minnesota Twins as an ownership group
00:12because maybe they want to sell, maybe they don't sell.
00:14But also, for sale on this roster, come get anybody you want
00:17because the expectations for the Twins once again this year are going to be low.
00:21They haven't been that bad, Craig.
00:2225-27 on the season.
00:24Bad, though, against 500 teams, which, again, is what the run of the mill,
00:274-11, one-run game's not so great, but right around their expectancy of 26-26.
00:33It feels like you're in a holding pattern for them
00:36because I know a lot of Major League Baseball teams are probably going to be picking up the phone
00:39if the Twins fall, let's say, to fourth place or fifth place and are out of it
00:43on Byron Buxton in that leadoff spot.
00:46There's 16 bombs on the season.
00:48No, he does get injured, but, boy, when he's right, he is fun to watch.
00:52He is, and having a potentially career season,
00:55I think this could happen for Byron Buxton.
00:57You can't really pitch around the leadoff guy, Donnie, you know?
01:01You can pitch around the three or the four, but the leadoff guy you're not going to put on.
01:04That's just the way that it works.
01:06A little bit of a fraudulent record for me at 25 and 27,
01:09and I do think that with the issues that they've had with pitching
01:13and the back end of their lineup,
01:15I do think that this record will fall as the season continues, and it's fine.
01:20You know, I think, look, you fire your manager, your general manager,
01:22your assistant general manager, what is it telling you?
01:24They're headed in another direction, but I guess when they kind of looked at it,
01:27they thought, ah, we have enough talent to sort of hang in it this year.
01:29Let's see if we do, and I think that that's perfectly fine.
01:32They were indicted for not trading everybody, but why?
01:34If you feel like you have enough talent on paper, go for it.
01:37Joe Ryan's a really good pitcher.
01:39Buxton's a really good hitter.
01:40Jeffers is having a nice season, but in the end,
01:43I just don't think a 500 record is sustainable.
01:46You saw some of the armor start to break a little.
01:49They finally sent Royce Lewis down to the minor leagues.
01:51Boy, was he having a miserable season, Donnie.
01:53I don't know what was going on with him.
01:55Looks like he couldn't hit anything when he was swinging.
01:57So I think Minnesota is a team that dips eventually for me.
02:02The only good news for them is, look, if the Tigers are not good
02:05and the Royals are not good and they're playing against some of these teams
02:07in the American League that are not good,
02:08they could probably hang around 500 if that's the case.
02:11But I see Minnesota as more of a seller than a buyer this year.
02:14By the way, getting pretty good pitching out of their starting rotation, too.
02:17Joe Ryan, 3.02.
02:18You're always worried about, hey, hopefully his injury's not long-term,
02:21and he's been back to pitching at this point.
02:23But also, Taj Bradley, 2.77 ERA on the season.
02:26Bailey over 3.63.
02:27And Zebby Matthews, only 13 innings pitched here.
02:29One of those young pitchers, 1.38 ERA.
02:32So if the bottom falls out, that hurts, and maybe they trade pieces away.
02:36But just hanging around right now, looks like it's part of the picture.
02:38Sure.
