00:00Try to figure this one out.
00:01The Toronto Blue Jays have had an awful season.
00:04Like when I say awful, nothing has gone their way.
00:06And yet, they are just a game out in the wild card.
00:10They took care of business this weekend and won the series against Boston.
00:14They took care of the earlier series this week against the Red Sox.
00:17And don't look now, but here they come.
00:21And again, Tom, to me, the American League wild card, here's what it is.
00:26A March Madness final weekend, whoever gets hot is getting in.
00:31That's it.
00:31There is nothing else for me.
00:34By the way, it is not that Texas is better than Toronto or Detroit is better than Minnesota
00:39or Cleveland is better than Texas.
00:41It's just whoever wins in the final week is going to make the playoffs to me.
00:44I don't see it any other way.
00:46I would say the exact same thing.
00:48And the thing that I keep thinking about is what we talked about in the beginning of July
00:52leading up to the trade deadline.
00:54It's like, well, this team could trade.
00:55This team could sell.
00:56They could buy.
00:57We just don't know.
00:58Oh, and then he said the same thing next week.
00:59He's like, what we're saying now is not going to be dramatically different than we're saying
01:03next week or a month from now just because whoever is hot in the final week of the season
01:08and whoever can string together two or three wins, they will make it, and the other team
01:13won't.
01:13And whether it's the Blue Jays or the Orioles or the Tigers or the Guardians, all of it's
01:17going to change from now until a month from now.
01:19And whoever wins will make it.
01:21It's that simple, as you said.
01:22Yeah, they're 500 teams, maybe a little better, maybe a little worse.
01:26Now, look, some team could go on a run like Cleveland did last year.
01:28They won 10 in a row in September.
01:30They got them in.
01:31If that happens, that could change things.
