00:00He was on the euthanasia list because he was so scared his case was deemed hopeless.
00:04But as a Dota producer, I have seen that even when the odds are stacked against you, you cannot give
00:08up hope.
00:09And thankfully, Nia knew this too.
00:11Stacey Hope Rescue pulled him off the euthanasia list.
00:14I'm gonna need you to move with me, buddy. Come on, Shambra.
00:16And brought him to training at Redemption Tales.
00:19He don't want to go anywhere, so he just shut down, as you can see here.
00:23Come on, Shambra. Here, eat that.
00:26It wasn't until a car engine scared him that he budged.
00:31He's moving. He's moving.
00:33He came out.
00:34He finally ventured outside on the second day.
00:36Come on, buddy.
00:37He kept his distance, but wagged his tail for a moment.
00:40The next day, he had to go to the vet and was so terrified still.
00:43But he seemed to trust Nia and looked to him for comfort.
00:46You're gonna be okay, man. I'm gonna be okay.
00:49Come on.
00:50From there, while he was still terrified,
00:52Good boy.
00:53he began to lean on his trainer more and more and seek comfort from him every day.
00:57Ooh, yes, yes, yes.
00:58That's a good point.
01:00Yes.
01:01He's a lot more affectionate.
01:04They built trust in each other and Nia used that trust to show him
01:07that the world wasn't always such a scary place.
01:10I know. You feel better.
01:11Unfortunately, the rescue does believe that Shamrock experienced abuse in his past life
01:15because of how head shy he was,
01:17which speaks even more to how much he trusted Nia that he was begging for pets.
01:21He even started being interested in playing with toys.
01:23Trying to play with the ball?
01:24Come on.
01:29Bring it back.
01:31Good boy.
01:32All right.
01:33Oh, let me see the ball.
01:34Nia knew he was ready to go face the big outdoors again.
01:37They started out by just sitting outside and soaking up all the new sights and spills together.
01:41You're just chilling, right, Shamrock?
01:43Sit.
01:44Then they tried to actually go for a walk.
01:46No, that's not sit.
01:48They went at Shamrock's pace.
01:49Do whatever you want, buddy.
01:53It's okay.
01:54This way, Shamrock.
01:56Come.
01:57Good boy.
01:58This is our fifth walk.
02:00Since he got here, a lot more confident.
02:02Still a little hesitation.
02:05Lip licking, as you can see here.
02:06But the tail was wagging.
02:08Eventually, he was walking on a leash like a confident dog.
02:13Good boy.
02:19Wow, you're barking.
02:20To build his confidence even more, he and his trainer were jumping up and down off obstacles,
02:26which made Shamrock so happy.
02:28Good boy.
02:32Eventually, Shamrock was ready for his forever home, and he had to say goodbye to Nia.
02:36Make a friend.
02:38Make a friend.
02:39But he was adopted by his dream family.
02:42He has several dog siblings and lives in the mountains of Colorado, where he runs around
02:46all day and breathes in the fresh mountain air with his mom.
02:49This is how he piles on top of me when we get home from the barn and snuggle and suck
02:54the
02:54blanket.
02:55Shamrock is a perfect example of what can happen when the community comes together and gives
02:59a very scared dog a fighting chance.
03:10He is now for his family.
03:10This is how he was constantly disting.
03:11He's doing that.
03:11He's doing it right at downhill saying goodbye to Nia.
03:11But he does not want to betray me anyway.
03:11And Aproposes approach to the miteinander.
03:11Since I live to the barn, you get rid of once more of the龐, s***,
03:11you...
