00:05but look a little closer because that isn't a smile. He's completely terrified and the moment

00:11we got too close he was ready to bite. Okay he just wants to bite my knee. So how do

00:17you help a

00:17dog who doesn't trust people enough to let them anywhere near him? Honestly we don't know but we

00:23did have one thing Brownie didn't know about yet. Two weeks ago we rescued his sister Trixie.

00:29They knew each other from their time in a shelter and with Trixie and our entire pack here to help

00:34we were hoping one of them could somehow get through to him. But would Brownie even remember

00:39Trixie and if he did could she convince him he was finally safe? Well let's go back to the moment

00:45first met Brownie because within the first minute we realized just how difficult this rescue is going

00:52to be. Here he is. Hello mate. Well done. Well done. This is the moment we first met Brownie and

01:00straight away we knew this rescue was different. He had to be carried out the van and then all the

01:06way into the garden. Honestly we knew this was going to be a tough one. Do you want to put

01:25a lead

01:28at risk once we let him go? Well that was I think the guy's going to come back to get

01:31a photo. Oh it

01:32looks like he's going to go to the toilet which is good. All over the lead. Oh nice. At least

01:35it's

01:35gray so he could see where he's peed. He was probably dying for that. Wow that was hard so he

01:40ended up

01:40bringing him straight in because he was so scared. So firstly we're going to let Brownie explore the

01:46garden before he meets the rest of the pack. We've got four dogs here at the moment so we want

01:52to

01:52make sure he's as comfortable as possible before bringing them out but with how much he's pacing

01:56around he's clearly still really stressed. It's just like anxiously pacing around and he keeps going

02:02back to the door that he came from. It's okay. Because obviously he wants to escape. Yeah you can see

02:08really scared. Listen. Stress panting. Come on then. Come on Brownie. Because you're cornering him

02:16poor guy. Come on Brownie mate. Come on. He's just frozen there. So here's the hard part. We want to

02:24get him to this side of the fence and we want to put the anti-escape harness on him because

02:30obviously

02:30we don't want to be dragging him around on a slip lead. What'll be interesting is seeing how he reacts

02:35when dogs come. Oh here he comes. Hopefully he'll feel a bit more sure because he'll have dogs that he

02:42can

02:43follow their behavior from. And since we have Brownie's sister here we're really hoping he

02:47recognizes her so she can help him gain just a little bit of confidence. We got lucky and Brownie

02:54went through the gate but he then ran to the back of the shed. Although there's nowhere to escape back

02:59there it did put us on edge. Do you want to go check around that corner? I know there's nowhere

03:03but I'm still conscious. Now that the gate is shut at least he's now on the other side.

03:09Hi Tony. I think he's having a little check. What for escape routes? Yeah. Probably you can see there

03:16is nowhere to escape. I think he's looking for where he can escape. Yeah see hopefully another dog

03:22coming in may calm him down. All right so he's obviously really stressed he's just like pacing

03:29around so we're gonna go and get Moki our Doberman who will hopefully help him feel a bit safer

03:37once he knows there's a dog here. All right we've got Moki. No Kobe no. And Trixie yeah your brother's

03:43out there. Right Kobe wait. Right Moki wait Kobe. Wait dogs. Okay we've got Moki here. Where is he? Is

03:53he behind

03:54the corner? Yeah. Maybe move back so let's see if he'll come away from there. Brownie. Brownie. Brownie.

04:04Brownie. Moki's waiting very patient. Has he just shut down in the corner? He's just standing panting

04:24time to decompress with a house full of dogs we just need him to meet the pack then we can

04:34corner him because I feel like it's okay it feels like because he has literally put his little bum

05:02obviously kind of just shut down in the corner and uh I'm not entirely sure what to do. I'm not

05:08go Moki. I mean he's literally trying to make himself as small as possible. You can see look

05:12he's trying to back up. Yeah. Honestly I'm a little unsure what to do here. I was hoping we'd see

05:18even the smallest change in his behavior but we really weren't getting much. So I decided to bring

05:23Moki a little closer to see how he reacted. I'll put me in between him and Moki. You mean put

05:31Moki in

05:31between. Well he doesn't. Good girl. I don't think Moki's that interested though. Good girl. She's like

05:41he stinks. Put Moki in there so we can put the harness on him now. Oh yeah. Right we're gonna

05:45put Moki on the side quick because Ellis just had a genius idea. Right Moki you be a good girl

05:50you just wait there. He's gonna freak out. This is gonna be really difficult. So Ella had a genius

05:54idea. Whilst Brownie is frozen in the corner this is actually the perfect time to try and put his

05:59non-escape harness on. We think he may not come into the house by himself later and if we did

06:05have to help move him we'd much rather use the harness than put on his slip lead.

06:09Do you have a sniff? Good boy. Now we're gonna try and put this over your head. It's gonna

06:18be a little bit scary. I know. I know. I know. I know. Moki you are not helping. It's okay

06:32darling. It's alright.

06:34The reason we want to do this as well because when we eventually need to get him inside for

06:40the evening to sleep something tells me he's not gonna want to go inside. He's doing so well.

06:46He's doing really well. Right I've done it. Ella did amazing and managed to get the harness on him,

06:51attached the lead to it and then she tried to help him out the corner and this is the

06:55moment Brownie really looked like he was ready to bite. We're gonna go together. It's alright. It's okay.

07:04It's alright. It's alright. Good boy. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. The way that he's, like,

07:15looking into your eyes. To try and give ourselves a better idea if our instincts in this moment were

07:20right, I sent the footage to our friend and one of the best dog experts in the world, Tom Davis.

07:26Once he reviewed the footage, he had this to say. From that footage, do you think Brownie was

07:33ready to bite Ella? Right at the end, definitely. You made such a good call there. As soon as we

07:39started to, like, get the, yeah, get close on the dog and pull the dog, you can just see the

07:43dog was,

07:43like, gearing up, kind of like a snake. That's, like, what they do and then they're basically,

07:47like, I don't want to have to, I don't want to have to and then, bang, then they do what

07:50they feel

07:51like they need to do instinctually. What I like to do is, honestly, like, a better situation would have

07:56been a martingale collar. A martingale has a little, a little bit of safety to it to where it's not

08:02going to restrict all the way, but it's nice because the dog can't get out of it if it's fit

08:06properly. So I would have tried to do a martingale and then a long line. A lot of times when

08:11dogs are

08:11in that, like, frozen mode, what I like to do is just walk away. If you turn your back and

08:17you have

08:17a long line, like a 15 foot, 20 foot long line, and you start moving, you might give a little

08:21bit

08:22of pressure on the martingale and it comes up and they kind of, like, buck a little bit, but then

08:25they

08:25give in to you. Martingale, long line, walk, turn your back, that's when the dog typically will start

08:32to go towards you. So the call with Tom is really useful to know for future rescues, but we did

08:38have

08:38a chat with him after we tried to move Brownie, so we're now about to do exactly what he said

08:44not to

08:44do. But hey, we're always learning and always trying to figure out what's best to do in these

08:48situations. So Ellen now has some bike gloves to try and get Brownie to move so that he can meet

08:54Moki.

08:54Come on. I think he's thinking about it. What, buying? Yeah. Yeah. So I'm wondering whether I just tug.

09:01Yeah. Come on. Oh. Oh. Well that was better then. He's not really giving up much of a fight.

09:44we're going to do it. We're going to let Moki through the gate. I really hope this goes well.

10:05She's gagging a little bit. That was the cutest thing. Okay, so he seems pretty unbothered by the

10:12dogs. If anything, it looks like it's actually giving him a bit of confidence because he's now

10:16come out the corner. So we have got another dog that was formerly a rescue, was adopted and it's

10:23Cindy. We did a video on her nearly a year ago now. We're just looking after her at the moment.

10:28So we're going to bring her out. All right, no Kobe. Cindy. Come on, Cindy. Come on, Cindy.

10:43Here's Cindy. Cindy herself is pretty scared. Come on, Cindy. She's having a good sniff of his wee.

10:50He's definitely come out of shell a bit more though, but he looks curious now. Look at him.

10:55He's like, oh, there's other dogs here. Right, here comes Cindy. The problem with this is we can't

11:02get too close to him because he'll get scared, but obviously I don't want to be too far where I

11:06can't

11:06do anything in case something happens. Oh my God, look at his tail. Look at his tail.

11:13That is adorable. That little tail waggy does is the cutest thing. He's like so scared,

11:18but he's like, oh, hello. Although Brownie's starting to show some positive signs, you can see

11:24he's definitely still on edge. Yeah, he definitely looks more like, look, he's sort of like wandering

11:30around a bit more. So what's the gang doing? Oh, shaking off. That was a little shake off.

11:33Yeah, you're right. That's the first time he's shaken off. Good boy.

11:37Oh my God, that little tail waggy. Oh my God. Gang, gang.

11:40That's the cutest thing I've ever seen. Well done, Cindy. Cindy's like, this was me

11:45once upon a time. This was me once upon a time. Look at me like Cindy.

11:52Oh, that's our neighbor's dog that's just scared him a bit. What a difference bringing these dogs out,

11:57right? Oh, come on. If she and Kobe can make him trust humans, like wag his tail at humans,

12:09that'd be great. Yeah. Okay. So we're going to keep this momentum going. I'm so happy right now.

12:14I cannot believe the difference bringing the pack out has made for him. So we're now going to go and

12:18get Kobe, who is a boy. Kobe has been neutered. So hopefully there's no dominating. I'm pretty sure

12:25he's been neutered as well. So let's see how this goes. And then after we get Kobe, he's going to

12:30reunite with his sister. I cannot wait for that. I really think he'll recognize her. I honestly do.

12:47Brownie's going to be like another one. All right. Given how everything's gone,

13:38tails go in unison. Look at them all. I'm honestly in shock. That's really good.

13:43What a difference from when he was literally 10 minutes ago. Okay, this has obviously gone just

13:48absolutely amazing. I mean, look at those tails. So the big moment, we are now going to go and get

13:54Brownie's sister, Trixie. So Trixie has been with Brownie since they were pups,

13:59and they both come from the same shelter in Macedonia. You can see here just how much more

14:04frightened Brownie is compared to her, but we're really hoping she's the one who can finally help

14:10him come out of his shell. All right. Come on then, Trix. Come on, girl. Come on then.

14:17It's your brother. Here she comes. Here she comes, Trixie. Look, who's that, Brownie?

14:24His face. He's like- Brownie. That's your sis. Come on, Trix. Yeah, she goes. Moki, Moki. No,

14:31Moki's getting so excited. Oh my God, look. Here he is. He's like, sis, is that you? And sis is

14:35like, yeah.

14:37Oh yeah, look how strong that sniff is compared to all the other dogs. Moki,

14:41you're getting too excited. So you commit. Okay, sit. Oh yeah. Trixie's an humble,

14:47the queen, but he's like, sis. He definitely recognizes that. You see how much he's sniffed

14:51compared to all the other dogs. Yeah. And the fact that these two are sniffing each other so much

14:58is insane. Well, they recognize each other. 100%. And Kobe's just like, you're my new boyfriend.

15:03100%. That is, honestly, I might, look, look at them.

15:10It's like, where you been? He's different to his sister because his sister went into foster

15:17with the rescue's owner. So she was used to being in a home, whereas Brownie lived in a shelter.

15:24He was very well looked after there, but he lived in a shelter outside. So he's never been in a

15:30house,

15:30but obviously with the amount of confidence he gets from the dogs, let's see how it goes. Right,

15:35we're also going to open this door because this is where he was looking. There he is,

15:37he's in the conservatory. Oh, he's come in. Kobe, come. He's come in for the first time,

15:42so we're going to completely ignore him. Oh my God, this is amazing. Hi everyone.

15:46So he's got an escape route there if he wants to go out. Oh, he's thirsty. Oh, good boy.

15:54Yeah, these dogs have given him a lot of confidence, but he's obviously still very

16:00scared of us, but that's good. He's having a ride we explore. Brownie.

16:05So we really want to swap his lead out. He's literally dragged it through Pooh and Wee,

16:10and we obviously don't want that going through the house. It sounds like such a simple thing,

16:14but because he's still so frightened, we're going to take it really slowly and make this as stress-free

16:19as possible for him. Are you going to get it off of him? Right, I was just going to step

16:22on it.

16:23How are you going to get it off? Okay, right. I've got him. That was actually perfect timing.

16:29Mikey, come. Right, let's get the dogs away from him because he's trapped right now. Go on.

16:35And then do you want to try and get that off his harness? Because right now he doesn't really realise.

17:59So I'm setting up this crate for Brownie because on Trixie's first night,

18:05And obviously we don't want a repeat of that, but Brownie isn't crate trained.

18:10So honestly, I'm not too sure what we're going to do tonight.

18:13Okay, so I'm going to cover up this crate so that he can feel that there is a safe space.

18:21And then we'll just put this in here.

18:23It's quite hot tonight, so I don't think he'll actually want to sleep on anything too warm.

21:17I think I'm going to go upstairs and see if the dogs wander out.

21:21I've got cameras everywhere here and outside.

21:24And hopefully, the dogs go outside and so does he.

21:28So that he can maybe go to the toilet before we'll go to bed.

21:33Kobe then goes to Mount Brownie.

21:35Absolutely brilliant.

21:36But he didn't destroy anything and looks like he used the time to decompress.

21:40This is good.

21:41But let's go back downstairs to start getting the dogs ready for the night.

21:45Okay, I've come back downstairs.

21:48Brownie blessing is now fully decompressing.

21:51But he's stolen Cindy's bed.

21:53So not every dog has a bed but poor Cindy.

21:57So I'm going to make Cindy a bed here.

22:00And I'm contemplating whether to sleep downstairs tonight or not.

22:06I think I'm mostly conscious of, you know, him chewing stuff.

22:10His sister obviously absolutely destroyed the house on her first night.

22:13But because I'm up at 6am tomorrow as well.

22:17Oh, bless her.

22:18I'd obviously rather, well, have a good night's sleep somewhat.

22:23So here's the plan.

22:24I'm going to bring Kobe upstairs tonight with me.

22:26Yes, I'm taking the risk and leaving him down here tonight.

22:29I put puppy pads down in case he has an accident.

22:32I then cleared everything off the counter in case he decides to counter surf.

22:36And then left Brownie to sleep downstairs.

22:38But will he destroy anything?

22:40Luckily, no.

22:41He was basically just out the entire night, which is really good.
