He snuck them into his hotel, overcame his allergies, canceled his prepaid Asia trip, and cared for them around the clock. Our Dodo producer Evan connected with Brian after seeing his story and learned how his time in Korea turned into two back-to-back rescues, a completely rerouted trip, and a flight home to LA with both kittens!

00:00He canceled his prepaid trip across Asia so he could keep the kittens he rescued.
00:05My name is Evan and I'm a producer at The Dodo. When I saw this video, I reached out to
00:10Brian
00:10only to learn that this was actually the second of two incredible back-to-back rescues.
00:15I was visiting my parents in Korea. I realized there was a few people looking at something on
00:20the ground. That's a kitten. As a foreigner in Korea, allergic to cats, not knowing anything
00:28what to do, just thinking about what do I do from here. And I told myself, I'll just take it
00:33one
00:33thing at a time. The vet said they have like less than five percent of survival, so if they don't
00:39make it, don't put that on you. That moment, I said, okay, what do I do? And they say, we
00:44sell formula.
00:45And I said, okay. On top of all that, Brian had one major problem. The hotel he was staying at
00:51didn't allow pets. So what I did is what anyone would do. It's so small, I put it in my
00:58pocket. He snuck Sunshine in. I can tell my allergies were kicking in. But at that point,
01:04I was so committed. I'm looking at YouTube on how to do things because I have zero idea what
01:09I'm supposed to do at this point. When Sunshine was sleeping, that's when I was researching.
01:14Brian followed his instinct to go back downstairs to where he found Sunshine,
01:18and that's where he found kitten number two. I find moonlight. I feel like she called me.
01:24Moonlight magically always kept Sunshine warm.
01:29I was at six different hotels with them, and I snuck them in each time.
01:35In Korea, if they don't get adopted at a certain time period, they're forced to euthanize them.
01:41That was out of the question.
01:43High five. High five.
01:45I had travel plans to go to Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, and back to Korea,
01:51which is all prepaid for. But I ended up canceling all those travel plans because I had to be with
01:56them.
01:59Once I knew and committed that they're coming to LA with me, things became deeper.
02:03And when he got back to LA, nothing was going to stop Brian from adopting a third kitten.
02:08It's been about a year and a half when I had Moonlight and Sunshine, and they grew up so well.
02:15I did get a phone call saying, hey, I just found a kitten. Would you be able to take care
02:21of another kitten?
02:22And I said, absolutely. Sunset decided to join us.
02:31But I was very confident this time. I'm not allergic to them at all at this point.
02:38If anyone is really thinking about or has the opportunity, I feel like cats find you more than
02:45you find them. I thought they needed me, but really, in reality, it turned out that I needed them.
03:00You're pretty much interested.
03:02So I'm very proud of you, too.
