00:00When Brian heard the cries of a cat coming from beneath his finger dock, he sprang into action.
00:05Evan from the Dodo reached out to learn more about Chili and how she has completely changed my life.
00:13You okay? What are you doing, kitty?
00:16Now, Brian is actually allergic to cats, but that didn't stop him from immediately coming to the rescue.
00:22You ready, kitty?
00:23I literally made you a catwalk. Why aren't you coming?
00:26Our paws are stuck. She's frozen stuck to this.
00:32Brian gently applied warm water to help unstick Chili from the icy beam.
00:37Is that gonna work? We just gotta warm up that metal.
00:40Get your little paws off. There they go!
00:43With patience and persistence, Brian finally managed to free Chili from the beam.
00:48You got it, Bubba. Get off that one piece.
00:51Gotcha, Bubba.
00:52When I took her to the vet...
00:54I'll save you, Bubba.
00:55The vet wasn't actually in.
01:02Since rescuing Chili, she's become a family member.
01:07It's been a very eye-opening experience.
01:11Shortly after Chili's rescue, my neighbors informed me that they recognized Chili as part of a small family
01:19with a mother and another kitten that they fed every morning.
01:24We are looking for not just cats, but kittens that might be Chili's family.
01:29There's probably about 50 cats in the colony.
01:33You happy with that, buddy?
01:34Any kittens that come along will probably be able to re-home.
01:40Any cats that are injured or sick, we will get treatment for.
01:46There is food.
01:48There are little kitty condos with hand warmers and protection from the elements, especially the cold.
01:56We were able to get some help from someone who had done 365 TNRs.
02:05Chili's mother and sibling were a little too wild, and it was her recommendation that they just be released where
02:16they were found.
02:17My first TNR.
02:18That would be their way of living their best life.
02:22Looking back, it feels like I got struck by lightning.
02:27Chili has changed my life in so many ways.
02:30She came along at a time where maybe I needed to be rescued.
