00:00She was the size of my palm.
00:03She was way too young to be away from her mom.
00:07She had one eye shut.
00:09And I knew if I didn't act fast, she wouldn't survive.
00:12So I wrapped her in my scarf, found some kitten replacement formula,
00:15and tried my best to keep her going.
00:17I'm on the floor of the bathroom with a tiny kitten just trying to get her to eat.
00:22I stayed up the entire first night with her, feeding her every single hour,
00:26just hoping that she would make it till morning.
00:30This fits in one hand.
00:36The next day, we searched everywhere for her mom.
00:40Meow.
00:42I don't know, do some meow at them.
00:44I'm not entirely sure, but a kitten that small, best chance is a mom, so.
00:50But had no luck, so I took her to the vet.
00:52Here's the situation.
00:53So she's healthy.
00:54Other than that, she's having digestive issues.
00:56He gave me some extra food or whatever, like supplement thing to help her grow.
01:01But since she's three weeks old, she has to be fed every three hours.
01:06And she's gonna be okay.
01:08I plan to help her grow up and find her a home.
01:10Look at how she eats.
01:12But as I bottle-fed her,
01:14I've never in my life seen more hungry being.
01:16Watched her take her first wobbly steps and saw her little personality start to shine.
01:24What is this?
01:26Niels, what are you doing?
01:27My plan began to change.
01:33But could I really keep her?
01:36I was a full-time traveler, moving every few weeks, living in hostels and going on last-minute adventures.
01:41A kitten was a big responsibility and didn't really fit my lifestyle.
01:47But the truth was, there was no decision to be made.
01:50Okay, I think we're making some headway.
01:52She was already mine.
01:54She seems to be okay.
02:00Maybe a little confused, but overall, fine.
02:02The next day, I found us an apartment, booked a three-month stay, and gave her a name.
02:08Milagro.
02:09Mila for short.
02:10Milagro in Spanish means miracle.
02:13Because she was my miracle cat.
02:14But now our next challenge began.
02:17I was planning to continue traveling.
02:19And I knew Mila would have to become an adventure cat.
02:21Okay, I'm going to attempt to put Mila in her carrier today.
02:25Got her blanket and a couple of her toys.
02:28So hopefully that will kind of ease the stress of being contained.
02:37She doesn't seem super happy, but she also isn't crying.
02:40So that's good news.
02:41She's crying a tiny bit.
02:46I'm hoping if we just take a walk around the block, it won't be too traumatic for her.
02:49Hi.
02:51What do you think?
02:53I think for her first time, she did pretty good.
02:55I took her everywhere.
02:57We ran errands, went to the cafe, and took plenty of walks through the town we were living in.
03:02I tried to introduce her to every noise.
03:05Took her in taxis, buses, cars.
03:07And she loved it.
03:08She was totally unbothered and unfazed about the world around her.
03:12When she was four months old, it was time to take her first flight.
03:15Baby's first airport.
03:16I was terrified.
03:17Would she panic?
03:18Would she cry the entire time?
03:20Nope.
03:21She sat in my lap.
03:23Happy as can be.
03:24This trip took us to Colombia.
03:26And from there, we were off.
03:27This is my kitten child, Mila.
03:29Okay.
03:33Hi.
03:33Coming out?
03:37We ended up flying back up to Mexico, celebrating her first birthday at Playa del Carmen.
03:42Now she's lived in four countries, on three continents, and traveled thousands of miles.
03:47And every single day, she reminds me, I thought I was saving her.
03:50But really, she saved me.
03:52I love you.
03:56Bye.
