00:00Obviously, FanDuel, DraftKings getting into the prediction markets now, FanDuel doing
00:04that specifically, just announcing that just within the last few weeks.
00:07Is there room for all of these players together, the CalShare, PolyMarkets, FanDuel, DraftKings?
00:13Do you see a merger happening or something else?
00:17What happens here?
00:18Well, one thing that's...
00:19Or do FanDuel and DraftKings just continue to stay number one?
00:21Yeah, and not to get too into these, but one thing that's positive for both is some of
00:25these bigger players that say they're launching their own are actually doing it using CalShare,
00:29PolyMarkets tech on the back end.
00:31So, for example, DraftKings acquired RailBird.
00:33RailBird was a prediction market, but not in sports.
00:35And now they say they're going to launch sports predictions using RailBird.
00:38Well, RailBird on the back end settles its transactions using PolyMarkets Exchange or
00:42settles its odds using PolyMarkets Exchange.
00:44So it's almost like liquidity begets liquidity, right?
00:46They've got all these key partners.
00:48You know, Crypto.com is launching one.
00:50That uses one of the two.
00:52And then you've got Robinhood and Susquehanna are launching their own.
00:54They're launching their own because they bought a different crypto exchange that, by the
00:58way, crypto crazy trivia for you, used to be owned by FTX, which collapsed.
01:02So Robinhood and Susquehanna acquired this other thing, LedgerX.
01:05They're going to use that to be a predictions market.
01:07But Robinhood is a partner of CalShare on the back end.
01:09And by the way, the Robinhood partnership is really key to CalShare's huge growth in sports
01:13as they have this college football predictions market using Robinhood that Robinhood promoted.
01:18So both companies have made a lot of hay thanks to their key partnerships.
01:21And, you know, they're also going head-to-head in gobbling up partnerships.
01:25You know, one's got StockX.
01:26They've both got NHL.
01:27One's got Pickleball.
01:28One's got Padale.
01:29I mean, it's crazy to keep track of.
01:31So they're not all going to succeed.
01:33I don't think a big player could really buy them.
01:35They're too expensive now with all their funding.
01:37So what ends up happening?
01:38Does, you know, DraftKings or FanDuel launch something that's a joint venture with one of them?
01:44I don't know how it goes, but Ben Horny has done a list of these.
01:48We're up to like 10 or 11 or 12 that have either launched a predictions market or stated they plan to.
01:52They're not all going to work.
01:54In six months, there aren't going to be 10, 11, 12.
01:56So we'll see.
01:56You mentioned in your story a lot of the partnerships that CalShare and Polymarket have,
02:01specifically the NHL, I think is the biggest of the leagues in there.
02:04UFC.
02:05Yeah, UFC.
02:06But no NFL.
02:08No NBA.
02:09Right.
02:09Those obviously two of the most betted on sports out there.
02:12Do you foresee a situation where the NFL or the NBA partner with one of them?
02:17Or do they stay with their traditional partners, the DraftKings and FanDuel?
02:20Well, you're certainly right, Demand.
02:21This is a great point.
02:22I didn't get into this in the story.
02:23But, you know, it's a great follow-up.
02:24The NFL, of course, was the longest holdout against legalized sports betting.
02:27And then once the water was clear, you know, they were biding their time, they went all in.
02:32And they're just as deeply enmeshed and tied to all this as all the big leagues.
02:35But they really held out.
02:36Protect the Shield.
02:37They're so image conscious.
02:38I can tell you for sure that the NFL does not love these social media posts.
02:42And that they would be very hesitant to get in bed with Polymark or Cal sheet if these
02:46type of social posts continue.
02:47There's just no way.
02:48You know, Christian McCaffrey loves getting balls.
02:51And, you know, the post about the cop at the Southern Carolina game.
02:56And it said he's an old fucker.
02:58What is it?
02:59I mean, it's in there.
03:00I think we showed it.
03:01So I would be surprised.
03:03NBA could go either way.
03:05The NHL is a major get for Cal sheet and Polymark.
03:07But it's, you know, the smallest of the big four, right?
03:11So a big domino to fall would be MLB or NBA or NFL, you know, making a partnership.
