00:00Less migration, more repatriation, as the EU got tough on border control.
00:09Migration numbers are down across the EU.
00:12In the past few years, numbers have consistently been falling for both immigration,
00:17minus 23% from 2022 to 2024, and asylum seekers, minus 6% from 2022 to 2025.
00:26And it's not just a matter of fewer people coming to Europe,
00:29expulsions and returns from the continent have increased too.
00:32Repatriation orders reached almost half a million last year, the highest rate since 2019.
00:39And while only a fraction are actually returned, last year's number, 155,000, was the largest since 2020.
00:47Most of them were Turkish, Georgians, Syrians and Albanians.
00:52Germany carried out the most repatriations overall, followed by France and Sweden.
00:57Also, more people are being turned away at the border.
01:00Last year, more people were refused entry than in 2023 and 2024, amounting to 133,000.
01:08The majority, 30%, didn't provide a valid purpose and condition for their states as Eurostat.
01:1517% had already spent three months in the EU over a six-month period.
01:2115% didn't have a valid visa, while 13% were not allowed in, following an alert about their presence
01:29in the country.
01:2918% had already worked together in Victoria's tenure, so as I told Jamie
